"It's because you're eating with a FAT HEAD." Best words you ever said to me! 65y F, currently 150lbs, A1c 5.2!!!!!
Off all meds. Feel better at 65 than in my 40's at 290lbs.

For years I thought I didn’t have a problem with anger….I recognized stressful times at work and at home, but stuffed anger by eating! Until I really began to see that I wasn’t dealing with the real issues, I could eat my way through the cupboards and anything else in my way! This is probably that part of permanent change that has been the hardest and is taking the longest to conquer. You’re never too old to conquer those issues and learn to communicate more effectively not only with myself, but with others. Thank you for your insights and willingness to help.

Your a smart man and Doctor. You know how to deal with people, how to reach them at the place they're at. Don't know if they teach you that but you've picked it up. Well done sir. I still haven't made the call to your office and I'm sure you don't remember me but I will soon. Crohn's sucks but doing much better on carnivore for about a year. I wouldn't have stuck with it if I hadn't seen one of your show talking about it and you said it could take up to two years before you will see the full benefit of the life style. The first few months I felt worse but then slowly month by month I've felt better. Thank you Doctor!!

Yes I was lucky enough to recognise the I should cut carbs about 25-30 years ago and was able to increasingly reduce carbs, not eliminating them, so I didn’t run full into fat head. About 5 years ago I realised I had to eliminate carbs and went keto/carnivore. So I was surprised at many in my life that had the need to lose weight and/or improve their health that expressed just the kind of litany of stress you describe. My heart could feel it was hopeless, but this excellent presentation makes it crystal clear why.

After being Keto for 30months I have stepped it up to carnivore. The reason why I switched was I was beginning to carb creep. Not massively but I was eating too many nuts. It was the best move ever for me as I have been plagued with poop problems and associated inflammation along with it. Three weeks in and my problem is 90% improved and I've lost the carb creep weight.

I really dislike the lack of variety in carn. tho. I seem to only like2-3 staples hamburger, eggs, chicken. But there's really not much else to do with it when you have it. So few options unless you branch out into seasonings, dairy, onion etc

I have seen the "promise land", (being emotionally content) and it did indeed coincided with my BG being under 100 and I am fasting. Addiction is a "positive feedback" (positive does not mean good in this context). The higher the BG, so more miserable I feel and the only way to stop this misery is to binge eat and drink alcohol... which reduces my emotional pain only for a very short time. The misery returns as soon as my body has metabolized the alcohol or sugar...with a vengeance ... and so on.
I am fighting this vicious circle now for 8 month.
The weight loss was the easy bit, the sugar and alcohol addictions are a lot more difficult.

This was the best "PEP TALK" for me because I'm getting past that (very long , drawn out, pathetic, self sabotaging) first stage and starting to get excited inside that second stage you are describing ... I think I must have had the 'FATTEST HEAD' of them all. LOL
It's not a perfect world but it's getting easier to 'just not eat garbage'. It sure helps that I'm starting to understand how the body actually works. I am still super mad about how we have all been lied to for our whole lives but relieved that I figured it out with enough time to enjoy some good healthy retirement.

I disagree. I’ve maintained to stay on my health and weight loss journey. Because a person speaks to their Dr about negative things that they are going through & having anxiety it doesn’t mean relapse. It could just be that they have no one else to talk with. Think about it.

Just an observation. . . many people are resistant to change and to doing things in a new way. Their personalities can be rigid, and they don't have a growth mindset. They get on the excuse train, and the ride can be very long. I just listened to a therapist here on UA-cam who talked about people who've had a lot of trauma don't have inner locus of control so they don't feel like they have agency over themselves and their environment. Maybe this also plays into the problems mentioned by Dr. Cywes.

But i have a problem. I am 18:6 to 20:4 low carb ( trying to keep it 30gr/day, sometimes goes to 50gr/day) no snacks routine. On occasion something happens that routine is totally disturbed( cannot elaborate on reasons), but the very next day i return to my schedule without feeling hungry or having cravings
How much damage did i cause to my journey towards better health?
