Those welds are looking great so far Diego - you'll be stacking dimes in no time 😎 - Markku
Thanks Markku! Crazy how much improvement there was in such short time. The course is a great resource!
I AM A SIMPLE MAN, I SEE NEW 4V V10 BUILD IT YOURSELF VIDEO AND I CLICK.
We are simple men too, heart for you!
The fact that HP Academy is sponsoring the video put this on a whole new level. Someone correct me, but I can't think of any other channel that has an HP Academy stamp of approval...
With the level of detail in it I'm suprised they have less sponsors
HP Academy really are a great group of people!
I believe Rob Dahm was sponsored by them at one point, or he talked about them. Correct me if I’m wrong though.
@@AnthonySvt_your lightning is sick bro. 🤙🏼
Send those headers to JetHot. The thermal coating will lower the temperature by at least 300°.
We'll have to look into that!
@@biy_buildityourselfyou guys are local to QC dunn rite coatings. Highly recommend.
@@biy_buildityourself You will be glad that you did.
I 2nd this 100%. If you don't do it now, you'll be doing it later when you have to replace that alternator and/or starter.
@biy_buildityourself even a basic ceramic coating is brilliant. It makes my hot down pipe cool enough to touch in a few minutes.
Best 'car builder' channel on UA-cam. Period. 🙌🙌
I have really enjoyed the series.
Thank you, it means a lot!
years of welding have really honed my grinder skills 😂
🤣
You know the old saying
"A grinder & paint make me the welder I ain't!" 🤣
Helluva independence day video here
You should 3D print some contoured soft jaws for the vice so you can weld without risking the integrity of the pipe
Dang, that's a great idea!
Like I said before this channel is criminally underrated. I hope SEMA boosts it so that we can watch moar V10 goodness
Love the video (as usual), hate all the comments demanding “stepped headers”. These guys are already demonstrating several revolutionary techniques for designing and making an optimised exhaust system in a custom, confined application. This is the cutting edge right here.
Steps will give you the formula 1 sound tho
Dedication and taking on a complicated challenges will get you some deserved recognition. Keep it up.
Coolest project on youtube right now!
As a former TIG welder of 15 years, tungsten grinding direction doesn't make as much of a difference as many like to claim.
I personally tended to grind perpendicular, mainly because it's faster and deadline/time=money, etc etc.
Not saying it doesn't make *any* difference, it does change the shape of the arc, usually ends up with a shorter/fatter arc (which would matter a lot when working with thin material, say 20 gauge or thinner), but in a majority of situations it doesn't really matter if you know what you're doing when forming your weld puddle.
Just my opinion.
I find the shape of the point affects the puddle the most (sharper point, deeper penetration. Shorter point, wider puddle). I've never experimented with the grinding direction but I can imagine it makes some difference if the grind is rough enough.
Interesting!! Need to try it either way and take notes on what is going on with the puddle.
This channel is criminally under subscribed😢 one of the best automotive programs out there. Cant wait for Richard Holdner to dyno🎉
The amount of work (and rework) put in on this system is crazy. The dedication to quality will pay big dividends in the end. Keep going!
Maybe a shield for the starter might be a wise addition before you cook one !
Was thinking the same thing
I already know this engine is going to sound amazing
I will be watching the next video on my 1400 watt home theater! Can't wait to hear this engine.
Steve Stroppe and Jesse James would be impressed with your work here
While practicing TIG to get decent at it helps a lot, realize, like many other things, it’s a perishable skill. Don’t be disappointed and build in some refresher practice, on future projects. Save your scraps…
Those tubular headers are pure art guys and definitely a compliment to your incredible engine 👌🏻
Really appreciate that, thank you!
Guys, I have the utmost respect for your ingenuity. The way you designed and built those headers is amazing!
Thank you!!!
Way to make my morning great guys! 40V V10 army! 🛠️
You are welcome! Let's go!!!
33:41 Hey Houdini, get back down here and finish that header!
Very cool guys! I cant wait to hear it open headers and then with the full stainless exhaust.
turn those 3d printed manifold pieces into a showpiece for the SEMA stand 😉
You guys should be really proud of yourselves for making such an intricate set of headers. Bloody awesome guys!!!!
The headers look amazing!!!! Very impressed with the methodology you guys used to make them. As a very amateur TIG welder, in my opinion, starting out welding tube is extremely difficult. Most people start out running beads on flat stock in the horizontal position, then progress to lap and fillet joints. On tube, you are typically in an awkward position and can only weld 3/4 to 1 inch before you have to reposition and start again. Well done!!!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video and that is some great advice!
This is hands down the dopest build on youtube right now.
This is the most interesting project on UA-cam. Your enthusiasm and vision and innovation are inspiring. Wishing you every success!
You did well partnering with HPA. You cannot but learn to do things well and correctly with them.
Those headers are another jewel in the crown 😉
High Performance Academy really is a great resource!
Wonder how many big youtubers/builders low-key following this? Not enough subs that's for sure. Should be way more. I hope the channel blows up! PS - I see a supercharger in its future. Some 1 off giant 4L whipple!
To help me visualise my headers on my straight 6, i used very heavy-duty electrical cable fixed inside a piece wood to act as the manifold. All cables were equal length and as the cable is hard to bend. It replicates pipework quite well. Works on headers and down pipes rather well.
God blessed these young men with beautiful minds
I can’t wait to hear this monster start with the new headers!
i continue to be amazed at the level of craftmanship. love this build! keep up the good work
Top notch work fellas, the headers alone are a work of art. Absolute beauty.
If you're really planning on going to SEMA consider this your big shot and grind those welds smooth and send them to Jet Hot. Nothing looks more impressive than great plumbing that appears to be one un-cut pipe. Damn fine work, keep at it!
We are hoping to get to be able to!
Nice work. Headers are a crazy amount of work. I wish I had that much room on my build ;)
WOW,,,, Incredible gents.... Really impressive!!!
This engine looks more and more beautiful every episode! Cant wait to hear it with the proper headers. Hope yall are real proud of this one, most unique/detailed engine build in decades
Watching your channel here in Sydney, Australia. Always keeping an eye out for the next episode. Can't wait to hear it fire up through those tubular art work.
Welcome back and thank you!!!
All-nighter! With the payoff at the end of sunrise header porn. That was a fantastic episode, I can’t say it enough, this build is approaching OEM prototype shop level. Awesome work.
What a night that was! Glad you enjoyed it!!!
So stoked that you all are another step closer to completion on this amazing build. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you!
Sooo much hard work, but the results are stellar! They look gorgeous. Well done gentlemen!
Headers look amazing. And that was a serious improvement in welding skill
Keep pushing gents, time and money make it tough I can only imagine. But you all have come so far. I am very interested to hear this v10 sing
Can someone explain to me why this channel doesn't have at least 500K subs? It is criminal when a channel like this has content this good and isn't killing it. There are channels with millions of subs to watch some goon play video games while he narrates from his single parent basement. There are so many things I simply will never understand. You guys keep doin what you are doin and it'll pay in the end........
I think this channel is too technical for the average UA-cam viewer. These guys also don't do the goofy skits like a lot of the other youtubers do. That might be why they stay under the radar. Not to mention, I think this channel is pretty new. A lot of the big channels have been here for many years.
A good complicated job extremely well done. Who doesn't like a V10, good stuff.
Just a tip, when welding thin stainless try using a 0.045 filler rod. It takes a lot more heat to melt larger filler rod. This will let you make smaller tack with less heat and are much easier to hide when finish welding.
Insane I can't wait to hear this thing with a good proper exhaust. It already sounded crazy with the manifolds.
Your headers are literally works of art, and it literally brings tears of of joy 🥲 to my eyes watching how far you guys have come on this undertaking, bravo 👏 The effort, blood, sweat, & tears really shows, and your quality in the work you've done is unmatched.
Way to go guys sleepy as hell but fine work persistence persistence persistence onwards and upwards 👍 but don't forget I'm waiting on that video
It will be here before you know it!!!
One of the best tech channels i've ever seen on youtube. Many greets from germany!!
this tiny motor stand, no risk no fun :D, i wouldn't be able to sleep just for a minute with this 10 cyl block mountet there :D
Awesome to see that you are starting to get the recognition that you deserve ❤👍
Really clever use of 3D printing for jigsm inspiring
I always click like before I even start watching BIY videos 😂 I have that much confidence in these guys content, and I’ve never been disappointed. Fantastic looking headers guys🫡
Tell me you're an engineer without telling me. You all are brilliant, I would have loved to work with you guys on any engineering marvel.
Can't wait to see this thing started with the new headers. You guys are nuts!
Those welds are a lot better than my welds. 😃
I’m so excited to hear this thing run
Now all it needs is a triple screw custom supercharger. Add an intercooler, too, for some real power😎
DANG, I SOO LOVE THIS BUILD !. I PRAY YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE INTERIOR AS LINCOLN I INTENDED !. GODSPEED GUYS.
Excellent work on the headers and sticking with it, I know it can be crazy frustrating! I cannot WAIT to hear it howl and see the finished car, hopefully at SEMA!
As a huge fan of the potential in the 6.8, i have been enamored with this build and the ingenuity from these artists. I discovered the channel just as you guys finished building the 4v heads and I've been hooked. I do, however, have one complaint..... We have a 2v sitting in our shop waiting for the right project, and i wish i had an 1/8th of the talent on this channel. Between the heads and the headers, I would love to engineer or atleast have access to these parts. Keep it up guys, this thing is amazing.
It's somewhat bittersweet seeing this amazing header system with so much planning come to fruition. On the one hand, it's absolutely a work of art. On the other, Maisteer JUST uncovered the secret to F1 sound and how they make their engines sing even more than normal, and it's by designing stepped headers and anti-reversion cone collectors.
i had the exact same feeling
I think he just went over the stepped primaries, megaphones will help no matter what the exhaust is tho
Deadass checked you guys' channel just last night cuz I knew it had been awhile. Now I fully understand why it's been so long!
I absolutely love this build, I could watch it everyday!
@32:30 a motorized jig holder would make you look like a professional.
You guys have amazing sense for detail and the patience of Job! great job, looking forward to more vids!
Thank you!
Hello Superboys
Its good to see you working again on your astonishing build! 🤙👍🏼👌
Welcome back and thank you!!!
if you have to make them again, have them stepped headers to give it a more F1 sound, meaning each pipe steps up in size after a several inches
Benito!! Always good to have a doggo visit
He really helped out with the headers and keeps the place secure! 😂
This is an insane amount of work.
Freaking awesome guys!!!!
It was, but it was worth it!
Ok i gotta give you points. The hose clamp with the gap for tacking is slick as hell.
Thanks!
some of the stainless steel pipes that are shiny are what is called "Dairy Grade" usually 316 but some tube sizes come in 306/308 while 304 and other grades come in the unpolished finish
Headers look great. SEMA would be lucky to have you!
Imagine if big time made a video on this build it would be sick!!
SEMA Build isn't the same as Concours, you don't need to be perfect on places where no one would see including the underside or even the interior. Hell even terrible panel gap ain't a problem in SEMA like bifb cars.
Lol yeah calling this a SEMA build is almost an insult to the effort they are putting into it. This is so damn good.
We will know what's there! But we will take the compliment, thank you!!!
I wanna see this channel blow up. you guys really earned it IMO. curious if this is a hobby for the love of it, or was this project fully intended to be a youtube series?
Awesome job! I love this build! It's definitely one of my favorites.
I'm always taken back by the patience you both display. It's definitely paying off! Amazing work! What do you fellas do for a living beside the channel?
I WANNA HEAR IT RAWR 🦖
Awesome job! I love this build! It's definitely one of my favorites.
Dedication and determination makes the difference. Way to go putting in both on this!
Just move the starter up into the V beneath the intake 😜
🤣 Luckily we are building a Lincoln and not a Cadillac!!!
You guys are inspiring.
Headers look amazing! Can’t wait for the fire up!
Us too!!!
@@biy_buildityourself When are you starting up this 6.8-liter, DOHC, 40-valve Triton V10?
They look amazing… incredible work!
i hope you guys make it to sema absolutely deserve it!! i love how you plan stuff out and when its done its perfect those headers look amazing!! cant wait to hear them ive been watching stuff on f1 exhaust so im really excited to hear these!!
Thank you!!!
If those are your first welds, don't be discouraged. The more you do the better you get. It just takes repetition. You can only get better, so long as you keep trying
You two are doing great work, not only on the build but the style of your videos as well...none of the typical car YT'er non sense and cheese.
Also congrats on the affiliation with HP Academy group, that alone verifies you're on the better path.
Thank you for the kind words, it means a bunch to us!!!
Big smile nice work 👍 from Sweden 🇸🇪
Heat Sheilding !!!
Keep up the great work. Also, for stainless steel pipe, look into adding a back purge setup
Awesome work, guys! Amazing results so far!
beautiful work boys
Hose clamps? Slapstick comedy incoming!
😂
You still saved countless hours of time by designing it in CAD first.
If you don't get the F1 sound, you may need to do a stepped header, a fellow UA-camr did it as well.
We'll see how they sound soon!
Will need a flat plane crank and EL headers, or engineered length headers to compensate for crank angles, to get the "F1* sound
@@bradarsenault6984"Flat-plane crank" isn't a thing for V10s, only V8s (and inline-fours, where they are the default).
I advise you to add steps to each header pipe so it will sound like a 5.0 gallardo as long as it's equal length + u should watch the last maisteer video for more information ❤
