You really aren't supposed to use your home oven to bake paint. It's dangerous and unhealthy. That's why most youtubers who use home ovens to do this usually setup a 2nd used old oven in their garage or work building to diy bake paint.
Hondas most underrated vehicle? Sir I’ll have you know I built and turbo’ed an acura legend sedan. THAT is underrated. This ain’t that hard it’s a J series 😂
Oh man, I had a 2001 Accord sedan that I pulled the J30A1 and swapped in a JDM J32A, swapped it from auto to manual with a 2003 Acura CL Type-S LSD six speed manual trans, and I fabricated a turbo kit for it with a GTS3582 turbo with a GFB electronic boost controller, 1000cc injectors, and it all ran on an AEM Series II 30-6051 standalone ECU. It made 503 whp at 10 psi.
Hey dude that was a great watch. BTW if you find you are having issues with power steering noises ever, there's usually 2 o-rings going into the pump that go bad + you can also replace the entire power steering reservoir itself, plus flush all the lines. The reservoir has a filter inside, I replaced it on my '08 accord when I had it and significantly quieted the system. Obviously only use Honda PS fluid too.
Good to hear man, I wanted all the noise gone completely and my car wasn't super well maintained and even after several flushes, I still got noise at max steering turn, especially at idle or low speed. @@_Gingium_
make sure to re-gap those rings if you want anything more then 350 whp! They heat up and touch and blow the ringlands to pieces. Happened to me with my turboed j30.
Sup man, awesome build I have a gen 6 EU accord myself.. just a heads up - baking the paint in an oven where you also prepare food is a pretty bad idea.. the particles and volatiles stay there for AGES and get onto the food you eat (even though you don't necessarily taste it).. I don't need to tell you why that's super bad.. get a cheap old oven from marketplace to plug into a socket in your warehouse (also great for installing bearings and friction fit stuff.. you don't need a torch)
thats the content we all petrolheads needs, here in argentina one guy put the same engine with a big turbo in a rear wheel drive Ford Taunus and sounds incredible too
So happy that turbo j series is finally getting more main stream. I would love to turbo my TL type S some day and if more creators start getting into the platform it may not be too long before we see a full kit get produced.
@@UncleVenz there’s a few supercharger kits out there but with how compact the j series engine bays are I don’t think it’s been worth the r&d for a company to step in and make one.

@flare749 it really was a great find. I was going to look at a civic si then they had this come in day before. It's not perfect has some cosmetic flaws especially for mileage. But I love it more and more everyday.

Now you have my attention. I have 2 of those cars. An 03 in San Marino red and an 06 in Alabaster silver, both 2 door and 6 speed. My 06 is a rare ALL OPTION car, it has the spoiler, fog lights AND navigation with carbon fiber trim and no blank swithes!!!
Run Royal purple oil through it for 500 miles then check valves and do it again it’ll make them valve train look new again, then go back to your original oil
Another important step before painting metal parts (especially iron) is to heat the parts with a plumber's torch right before painting. Not too hot, but enough to drive off moisture and expose any residual grease, oil or cleaner left behind.
Can confirm. Couple light tack coats with about 10 minutes to dry, and then a good flood coat and heat gun got me a great looking wrinkle black valve cover with none of the build up lines. Very uniform fingerprint style wrinkles too.
You definitely got a new subscriber!! I have a 07 6-6 coupe that is sitting! Just got it back from replacing the engine! Threw cylinder 5’s spark plug twice! I have a 100k gently used replacement engine and ready to get it back on the road!
I use the wrinkle paint a lot. Best result it to heat it up with a heat gun, first coat light and the next 2 coats heavy. You’ll get a better result using a heat gun afterwards too
This has been by far my favourite build series . Not necessarily my favourite car even though I love Hondas . Keep it jdm cars, Simple but nice interior upgrades, custom exhaust , new brakes wheels , turbo and engine mods and a few bolt on exterior mods makes for the best most relatable build series . I was hoping you would wrinkle paint the intake manifold as well, but after seeing it with the contrasting silver and black I think that was the right decision. this thing looks great!
VHT has a deeper and better looking wrinkle if you let it dry in cooler temps (warm room). Higher oven temps will make the wrinkles "tighter" or smaller

Hey Gingium I've done powder coating at home and if I can do it I think you can too. I'd say the hardest part is the oven but you can just pick up a regular kitchen oven and set it up in the shop. Only things you would have problem powder coating is rims but if you really get into it I seen people make big ovens with kitchen oven elements and regular insulation stuff you'd find in a regular hardware store
