I have a 2016 scion FR-S all stock and all I got to say is that as a my first car I really enjoy it. I’ve had it for a few months and just everything about it is amazing to me. Maybe just the back seats is the only issue but I don’t drive people so idc😂
@@seizethespeed Yaa it really is!! I cant compare to other cars like if it’s better or not but from driving my brothers car and my parents I would say that the FR-S is a really good car and especially for it being my first car
Would def love to see a new vs old comparison, as there hasn’t been many videos like that yet! And with owners considering either one to buy or keep. CheeRS
I love my 2013 FR-S, it's red just like yours and when I bought it, it already had tints and everything. I do a lot of around town driving with traffic so I got it in auto - would've loved to have it in manual but it would get me in trouble because I'd be spinning the tires every chance I got Have you ever had a spare key programmed for yours? I have the master key but was having some trouble getting a spare programmed. Been looking all over the place to see if anyone has any ideas
What color rims? And are you over 6 foot? I'm 6'2 and very wide wing span so I'm wondering if it's too small for me but I still want. Coming from g35 coupe, I had plenty of space
It really depends on what you like and your type of use, if you need the extra space/ comfort and you don’t mind a bit heavier and more FWD feeling car the WRX is a good choice and has a bit more straight line speed but dynamically the FRS is unmatched at the price range, it’s just a lot of fun to drive but it’s a smaller less comfy car. Thanks! Stay tuned for more reviews!
Hello, not sure if your still answering comments to this video, but I was gonna get a 2013 for my first car, what would you say are the most common problems, maybe from amount miles and such. Thank you. Great video!
Thank for watching! I’d say the head gasket is definitely the main concern but happens in higher mileage. Same thing with a few oil leak points like the valve covers. Other than that they are solid cars!
Head gaskets aren't really any issue with these. More a problem with older E series Subaru engines. 2013-14 make sure you have had the valve spring recall already done. Some 2017 VINs had fuel pump recall too. Make sure you don't drive it hard without it being up to temperature. Ideally get a baffle put in the oil sump and oil cooler if you plan on driving hard. The factory clutch can be a bit iffy if you drive hard. Also heavy duty clutch likely will snap the OEM release fork. And the OEM throw out bearing is a crap design and will likely give up and start making noise. Replace it all when the clutch is done.
The sealant on things like the timing cover and what not will degrade over time and oil leaks will happen. Change oil frequently and look after it and you'll have no issues.
Does anyone have an idea why my frs usb port under the radio, the one with the aux port doesn't work? It works for like 2 secs and when i get a notification of "usb connection failed" on the screen, it stops working?
I have a 2014 Ultramarine FRS that just crossed 100K. Really fun car, don't care about it being slow! Only mods I put on the car is an axleback muffler delete, and the same exact SONY headunit!
How tall are you? Im 6'2 and I sat in the '24 brz and boy was I snug. My g35 coupe was very comfy so it's either this 86 or a civic coupe which is alright... Lol
This is my next car. I had 2 options, a G35 Coupe or a Scion FR-S I finally decided the FR-S is the car I want with the Manual Transmission only. It's more reliable than the G35, it doesn't burn oil like the G35 Rev up, and it's a cooler car. Plus I'm a Toyota car enthusiast.
I have a g35 coupe and that car is done. G35 is better but not worth it in the keep up unless you use on weekends only! I'm now looking to get this in a few months but only problem is I'm 6'2 and built like an NFL linebacker so this car will be a two seater. Are you a big person? Let me know how it goes!
My FRS is at 145k miles and it's as good as 0 miles. Mechanic says it looks great. Not sure where he got the idea that the engines aren't good. Probably because people run them rougher than in an average car
Engines, I've heard will blow when high rev in tight turns. Its a light Toyota that's slower than a Prius so engine should be good for a while unless someone is having too much fun
Im perfect to answer this question for you bro. My first car was a 2018 honda civic coupe touring so i know EXACTLY what you mean. I recently traded mine in for a 2015 Subaru BRZ i will say it does feel a bit fast but that could be because is N/A so there is no turbo lag like the civic its also lighter. As far fun, you will never find a more fun car to drive. Yes the civic was my baby but i will never regret getting my brz
All of your descriptions about this car make it sound like a non-convertible version of a Miata. I had one for 10 yrs and now I'm looking for something without a soft top.
The Manual transmission gives you a lot more control over the dynamics of this car. Overall a more fun and engaging experience. The automatic isn’t as responsive or engaging. But it is more efficient if that’s your target.
All I see is a bunch of people giving themselves whiplash in manual transmission cars. LOL. It seems like no one knows how to drive them or they are altogether rough rides on purpose. To each their own.

Check for valve cover gasket leaks, make sure the clutch is in good shape if it’s auto. Just overall make sure the car was maintained well

How does this compare to the subaru brz?
Practically the same car, mainly the aesthetic of the front end and older BRZ models seem to have slightly nicer interiors

This thing feels pretty peppy coming from a civic and since it’s small and most importantly rear wheel drive it’s a lot of fun to drive
