The Reloaded seems to be the best compromise between all three. Less harsh than the original Riot, but more crisp than the Burnley. Better overall feel I think.
Interesting that you didn't like it but the Burnley on Fat setting is the winner for me. Way more organic and amp-like than either Riot. I like a more old-school rock sound than metal so perhaps that's the difference.
It wouldn't be so much different from angry charlie V3. Both Riot and Charlie are copies of MI Audio Crunch Box. Angry Charlie is basically crunch box with 3-band eq. Riot is crunch box with modified presence values and reloaded is more modified presence value and tone value. Difference is about 3-4 components. With Eq pedal adjusted to reloaded I was able to dial crunch box, charlie, riot. I am still wondered how come there are so many cloned pedals called boutique when they have 96% same circuit.
@@damianp3305 It seems like almost every company is cloning these days and didn't know that the Suhr was also cloning other pedals. I have a Joyo US Dream and it sounds just like a Riot and it was $30. These days I've been trying to buy from DCW Pedals and Z-FX Pedals who you can find on Reverb. You get a quality USA made pedal for an amazing price.
You are right the burnley sounds fat and round but is missing some crispy feature the T ,... the tone must go all the way up to balance that fatness.... i have a burnley and im not satisfied
Thanks for bringing this to us. It's highly unlikely anyone these days is clipping either the amp or even preamp tubes on their amps. The distortion you hear is a separate gain circuit in modern heads. Many folks have realized this, and now just use Kemper, Axe, Quad, etc.
hundreds of demo watched on youtube and FINALLY!... somebody that compares the distortion pedal is demoing with the distortion of the amplifier for reference thanks man! Imo, suhr riot and its clones are the most similar distortions to your actual amp distortion you can find. It's really almost there with the distortion channel, and maybe with a few more tweaking would get even closer. Lots of money but lots of value. Joyo did a clone, that gets more than 80% there... but, of course, the remaining 20% is what's making the difference (in tone and price).
Thanks for the kind words and yes, I agree. Suhr Riot might be one of the all time best dirt pedals out there. And they are built to last (I had mine for 8+ years and it has seen some abuse)! But after this shootout, I am torn between the OG Riot and the Riot Reloaded. First world problems ;-)
Hello mike, I am also thinking if I should get the Suhr Riot Reloaded vs the OG. 1. Can you suggest which should I buy? 2. have you found any new pedal thats in this price range which is better than riot?
Burnley actually sounds super smooth and warm with a bright sounding guitar!
The Old Riot is the Best to my Ear
The Reloaded seems to be the best compromise between all three. Less harsh than the original Riot, but more crisp than the Burnley. Better overall feel I think.
Upgrade my 7 years old Original Suhr Riot to Suhr Riot Reloaded and it's awesome "amp like" drive...love it!
Agreed very more amp like
thanks! ive been waiting for this, appreciate your vids! i prefer riot reloaded!
Yeah me too :-)
Bougner Burnley the best 😎

I guess all depends on personal preferences ,equipment and the sound you pursuit , Burnley sounds more to my taste 🤗
I'll just say: Some people play blues, you play "purples"
i lke the old Suhr Riot very natural, the Reloaded sounds like a little bit compressed..
mud
I just wish the Riot’s had a 3 band eq..that would truly make this one of the best distortion pedals out there.

I enjoy your channel and have watched lots of your videos. I hope you do well in youtube and get more subscribers.
Thanks mate! :-)
Burnley sounds more like an amplifier to me
Nothing sounds like a good high-gain tube amp, so don't spend too much on pedals.

These are all flavored in the same ballpark. I like the burnley, but I’ll grab a US dream or DemonFx solo
Burnley fat , warm n fuller , great pedal

Tune your guitar. Thanks

haha "first world problems" :v

I sold my Riot OG and kept the Reloaded. It sounds more amp like. If you play high gain metal though, I think the OG would be the better choice!
@@MadebyMiike thank you so much. I ordered the riot mini. Hoping its not too dissimilar. :')
Faulty unit? Come on....!!!
The amp rules
6:26 espero sea sarcasmo porque es el que mejor suena. Los riot suenan a cajita al lado.
TUNE
What tuning do you play in?
Hi, my standard tuning is Half Step down, + Drop Cis on this video
AllaboutafriendONLINE thank you!
Sorry man, the sound is very bad, your gear is great, but...
Nothing drives me nuts more than a demo with an out of tune guitar. Tune that thing. You can edit it.
