The videos on this channel will be focused around helping women navigate healthspan and longevity through the lens of osteoporosis, perimenopause, and menopause. I have been suffering from insomnia for over two years, I went through the CBT-I therapy and lots of books reading and continuing listening to the sleep doctor/coaches advice doing lots of other stuff to enhance my sleep, as now, I’m much better, sleep 5-6 hours daily.
Just wanted to clarify that, sleep deprivation and insomnia are very different things! ---Sleep deprivation - the people can sleep but choose not to sleep. But for insomnia people are the people wanted to sleep but can’t sleep often have fear for not able to sleep and other various anxiety.
The last things we insomnia people wants to hear is people talking about how dangerous if sleep less than 7-8 hours a day, they most likely will get cancer, dementia, early death….on and on.
I usually and enjoy and appreciate your podcast very much, but this podcast is not very encouraging and creates a further fear to insomnia community !

Thank you for this channel!!! Here is a topic I’d love to see you address: About 40% of women have dense breasts(only recently have providers been required to inform women about this). Half to 2/3 of early breast cancers are missed in women with dense breasts. No guidance has been given to me on what to do about this. My searching has found that abbreviated breast MRIs, which are not covered by insurance are an option. But how often should I get one? Is the contrast dye they use safe enough to be getting one on a yearly basis?

I’m interested in hearing more about the 3 AM wake up but I go through. I go to bed at 9:30 and wake up at 3 AM and can’t get back to sleep. It’s like I’ve had a nap and I’m ready to go.

As a former insomniac am very uncomfortable with some of this. It seems almost every day we are overwhelmed with warnings that you must get 8 hours sleep or you will die. This creates enormous anxiety in people who already have trouble sleeping and makes their problem worse and may even trigger sleep anxiety and insomnia in people sleeping a perfectly adequate 6/7 hours. I feel this is a bandwagon. You skipped over the chicken/egg question quite quickly I notice.

Hi! We understand that receiving sleep recommendations may sometimes trigger feelings of anxiety, and I want to assure you that our goal is to encourage general positive healthy habits. We never want to make anyone feel worse. As always, it is best to get a tailored plan that feels manageable and aligns with your individual needs and preferences :)
