OMG….I’m so “Ryobi Green” with envy after seeing your garage Lol!! Finally an awesome review of the Ryobi stick vac model that I’ve been eyeing for awhile now. Thanks
The anti hairwrap head on the dyson is the game changer, the amount of times ive had to cut hair off a regular head is annoying every week but the dysonntech actually works probably needs detangling every few months or so it really works so for the slightly better pick up of the ryobi the dyson does it for me
The biggest problem for all the vaccums not picking up so well on hard floor is the shear amount of debris trying to be picked up. Only a shop vac or commercial vac would handle such a mess.
Exactly. If you don’t feel like pulling out the shop vac then at least take off the floor attachments to suck up a mess like that. Then finish it up with the attachment back on.
True, but tests tend to be above and beyond the ordinary to prove/show just what's capable. If they picked up the large debris, at least you know they'll grab things on the floor if there happens to be the odd item of that size lying around (rather than a million in one place) instead of just kicking it into the wall, window or dog! My biggest disappointment was that the ryobi seemed to just grind the white powder into the floor - no a very promising sign for what's going on when vacuuming carpet.
They Ryobi looks great for the price. Love being able to use batteries for multiple uses. The one complaint is the size of the "head". Would be a bit of a struggle to get into tighter spaces in my place.
Another test you might want to consider is vacuuming pet hair. The pet hair from a chocolate lab clogs up the intake. This is even vacuuming after prior sweeping. It is definitely not fun to have to disassemble the vacuum cleaner to remove clogged pet hair. I never anticipated the dog would shed as much as it does. Perhaps I should have invested more money than buying a Wyze machine. Keep up the excellent reviews.
Yes, hair on the bristled head is a huge problem. I had to clean ours before every use. The Dyson does not have this issue, it uses rubber instead of bristles.
we have a Dyson V15 and a Samoyed and we have no problems with hair removal. V15 takes everyone without problems on both wooden floors, carpets and in the car. have not tried the Roiby vacuum cleaner
Yeah, there's no reason to use Max at all on the V15 (except in above-floor cleaning), since the moment you start running over heavy debris it steps up automatically. It's not like the V11 where it only auto-boosts when it detects carpet.
Should note that lower AH packs are usually just a single series where larger packs use 2 series in parallel. This means that even with the same cells larger packs can discharge twice as much current. So you're not just trading off runtime you're also losing current which means less suction.
Lower Ah packs are made of 5 series connected 18650 batteries. The higher Ah packs are made of two rows (or 3 for the 9Ah) of 5 series connected 18650 batteries with the rows of 5 being connected in parallel. The peak current is the same the only difference is run time.
@@Samqdf Normally it would but the output circuits are the same so they can't handle more current. From what I've found they put out 30A peak. The HP batteries probably put out more current but they have additional contacts.
We purchased the Ryobi less than a year ago, the brush head froze up and melted together. Got a new head from Ryobi and it burned up also. Poor design where it rotates with plastic on plastic and no bearings.
The entire point of the dyson's emptying mechanism is that it allows you to get the dust out directly into the bin.. you don't need to go outside and drop it because dropping it spreads dust and dirt everywhere.
I missed bin immediately after downgrading. My Dyson v8 got used up on battery, connections and body loose after 2 1/2 years. Had a Warranty exchange for a weak battery during its first month.
@@markeastridge9649 this part is somewhat shocking. Cordless tools that cost more than something like a commercial branded sebo and that have to be repurchased every several years. These are things that can be made better, but just aren't because there's no incentive for them to be made better.
The Ryobi is the hands down winner - especially for the price and especially if you already have Ryobi batteries. The lack of a battery for the Dyson is a deal killer for me.
Thanks for this video! I’ve been trying to find a practical vacuum and had no clue Royobi made them! Works great for us bc my husband has ryobi tools!! Thanks again!!! Super happy with the purchase!👍👍👍
Great video... thx! For me, the Dyson wins: it has more powerful suction. I don't ever have chunks of cereal laying around the floor, and if I did I would not vacuum such ever regardless of vacuum; I would simply sweep that into a dustpan. But I do want all dog hair picked from the hardwood floor, and for that the Dyson performs better. Thanks again.
I just purchased a Ryobi dual unit. LOVE it! The battery is certainly short lived (maybe 10 minutes). But it works for our small home with hardwood floors. Great suction and price is certainly good. I guess turning off the dual unit and using only the suction would help with the battery life. Still learning, but very impressed with the vacuum.
Great video. Im curious about the filters. How well does the Ryobi filter and how hard is it to change? I've had a bunch of dysons and am thinking about upgrading my 10 year old stick vac. I love the changeable batteries on the Ryobi.
I would like to know that as well because for as much as I like this vacuum cleaner it drains the battery fast and that's with me using a 5A/H pack, not a 4A/H model like in the video. Without using the powered head it will from full charged to the low voltage cut-off take around 15 minutes. Much less again if using the powered head.
Ok, so I own both of these. The dyson you will need to lift up the head to get the crunchy stuff or use the brush wand attachment.. The dyson is so much quieter than the Ryobi. The laser attachment is my favorite. I love seeing all the hair and dust on the floor.
@@battery_wattage yep. All dyson stick vacs, uprights, and canisters with the purple hepa filter are sealed. Why would u want to breath back the dirt ur vacuum picked up? Hey! What kind of organising system did you use on the wall for all your power tools and batteries? Do you have a video on that if not many people would like you to make one.
I just bought this Ryobi vacuum. Like the presenter I have tons of batteries. I can't say enough about the quality of Ryobi batteries. They last for years and have worked for me in -20 and super hot days. We bought a Dyson and it was great for a while. Then the hair from our dogs just overwhelmed it, even though it was specifically designed for dog hair. At 8 months the battery gave out and the replacement cost was too much to justify it. I've already vacuumed my entire house with one 4 amp hour battery and I have like 10 of them ready to go. The Ryobi does need a little more time, or you have to go a slower, but it gets everything. That and the dump system and filter are easier to clean makes it a big win. Oh, and the Ryobi warranty is bulletproof and you can do that at Home Depot.
I just bought that Royobi cordless and it’s amazing…it’s good for sucking up pet hair….plus it has double rollers ….I picked over the Dyson…especially because of the price too
The slit in the brush roller for the Ryobi is for a knife to cut through hair I think. Can you pull the brush roller out and operate it with just the soft fuzzy roller? Will it still roll? I have really old hardwood flooring and don't want to damage it, but want to use it over using a Swiffer to dust them and remove all of the dog hairs. Thanks!
I'm a huge Ryobi fan as well. A small portion, very small, are garbage but, and this is a big but, most tools are very decent. Having a dozen or so 18v 4Ah batteries means I can cherry pick the better Ryobi tools. So, if some tool is rated higher and even has a similar runtime, I'll stick with Ryobi.
The Ryobi battery system is great I've got three 40v batteries and a 40v Ryobi power station for my car whenever I need to charge or power something small it really comes in handy.
Our Ryobi lasted 3 weeks before the gearing in the head melted down and seized. Also the high pitch noise the motor makes is terrible. I have a ton of Ryobi tools, they are all great but this thing is a loser. The suction is laughably low compared to our Dyson cordless.

I’m in an rv and thought the single roller might be easier to maneuver around such a small space. Also wondering if the single roller is A little less weight (even oz can add up). The price difference is $100. Do you have an opinion?
The dual roller is WAY better. I have owned a shark rocket Duo for years it has the dual rollers I got it when it first was released and I would never go back to a single roller. I’ve never tried the Ryobi or dyson but a good vacuum is definitely the Shark rocket duo
Hi, you say the Ryobi turns on automaticly in turbo modus. Is this a kind of setting? I'm using exactly the same vaccum but it turns on in normal mode and I have to press the second button to get it in turbo/max mode. So I have to press 3 buttons: 1. Turn it on, 2. to get it to turbo, 3. to let the brush spin. A bit annoying.. However, great device!
Ryobi have numerous model vacuums that all look very similar to one another and I suspect you have a different model. I have one and soon as I press the power button, it's in turbo mode.
I use the craftsman and I had tried both a dyson and ryobi. the craftsman was the winner. Super easy to clean as well so it runs like new all the time.
One thing I didn't hear mentioned, was the warranty. The Ryobi Vac I picked up came with a 6 year warranty and to memory Dyson only comes with 2 years.
With that type of mess on a hardwood floor, normally for me it would be done with straight suction without the head first then the head after. Dyson definitely. Great video, thanks 👍
Love the ryobi collection in the garage 🤍 Love the honest review, amazing job! I gotta check out & see if you did a hair test on hardwood floors. I’m really considering buying this & especially after seeing your garage collection & how cool it is to swap out batteries. I’m curious to see if they have updated the ryobi model with a green light & brush roll that detangles hair since this video too… 🤞 again thanks for the content!!
I have that ryobi stick vac in Australia. Its great makes me wanna compare that to my dyson too. I don't think it's bad at all. Especially you can swap the battery and keep going with your cleaning whereas the dyson you will have to stop and wait till its charged again.
I went through 2 ryobi stick vacs. When they work they work great. However I had 2 fail after 6 months of ownership. They sent me a new one the first time. The second time they said it was out of warranty and they didn’t make parts for it to be repaired. I went ahead and bought the Dyson. There’s some things I liked about the ryobi better but it’s been about a year with the Dyson and it still works so that means much more to me.
My Makitavac starts on 2 of 3, i hate that, you spoke from my heart. I have a Badaptor for Makitabatteries on Ryobidevices, so that Vac is a thought, thanks for testing.
I have the single roller Ryobi and with limited use around cats, hair wound up on the end of the roller... got hot and melted where the end of the roller connects and spins. I had a very hard time taking it apart and doing my best to fix it... smoothing out the melted plastic so it would spin again. Wasn't long after and it did it again. No metal bearing, its plastic. Altogether, it lasted less than two months of occasional use. The head unit still works and I use it at work for small cleaning tasks.
Yeah, I just use it in the garage now without the roller or extension, it will works for a straight suction handheld. I got a newer one for the house and the roller ends were improved. It works fine, tons of hair collects, but doesn't bind the roller. Have had other issues with first generation Ryobi tools. Altogether, I have more than 30 Ryobi 18v tools and have only had a few that had issue.
The Ryobi is probably designed to pick up bigger bits better because it's a Ryobi....as in it's expected to be used in a workshop where you naturally find bigger bits. As for the laser, well the Ryobi obviously has power at the head end because of the light. It won't take long before moders use that power to make a clip on laser.
dyson starts you in auto mode(medium) which adjusts suction based on surface and how dirty surface is , the high setting eats the battery in 10 minutes and is way to strong for carpets(gets stuck to carpet), im sure you know this, not sure why you said what you said
Should've had a Shark Rocket in the test. Also, cereals or Chex or pretzels or candy aren't meant for a vacuum. I was always told to sweep my floor and get as much as possible down to sugar and salt sized particles then run the vacuum. Considering that the Ryobi vacuum is made by TTI, who also owns Hoover, Oreck, and Dirt Devil, its bound to be of good quality. If I was looking for a battery vacuum, I'd get the Ryobi considering I have like 4 or 5 of the 4ah batteries at home and its based on the Hoover tech.
Ryobi fan boy before it started, I have alot of ryobi tools and batteries and one of there older vacs but I wouldnt go ryobi for another, you cant be a master of everything! i do like swapping my batteries between tools but somtimes it isnt better and worth paying more if you want a battery powered vac, i wouldnt pay for a dyson but maybe a shark, came across the vids as im eyeing up battery vacs. enjoyed the vid though, im pretty bad with the ryobi myself. alot of the gardening tools are great with battery swaps
Ryobi is own by TTI which owns Hoover Oreck and Dirt Devil the battery used is the same as there one power system Hoover uses in there cordless lineup.
What I want to know is how Ryobi got the dual brush roll design. Shark made a patent on this feature. Did they get permission from shark or am I missing something? I think on your big mess test some pieces made the floor head prop up and caused it to miss the fine dust. Also why would you always want max power? Most of the time you can do with regular power. Plus it helps with battery longevity in the long run. It’s like keeping a manual car at the highest RPM for maximum power, but you are just wasting gas at the stop light or cruising down city streets.
I always leave my vacuum in low power mode because my entire house minus the area rug for the living room area is hard surface. So in that case it's nice being on low mode all the time.
We are on our 2nd Dyson in 9 months those trigger switch/systems are prone to failing ours failed and needed to go in for warranty prob just go pickup up a Ryobi since we got a bunch of the batteries and it will prob be awhile before we get the Dyson back been 2 months now waiting on Dyson.

One thing I didn't hear mentioned, was the warranty. The Ryobi Vac I picked up came with a 6 year warranty and to memory Dyson only comes with 2 years.
I use my Dyson on auto mode all the time , it's does the job well , the battery last two times on one charge for my small 20x60 apartment
6:43 this the reason the soft roller has to die. it has too many drawbacks just to eat slightly larger debris versus a conventional carpet brush head.
With that type of mess on a hardwood floor, normally for me it would be done with straight suction without the head first then the head after. Dyson definitely. Great video, thanks 👍
Really helpful and well made video, exactly what I was looking for with no fluff TY!!
Great to hear thank you
Update: the ryobi is currently 249 with a 4.0 amp hour battery and 199 for tool only
That may be the single roller model. They look almost the same.
I live in Australia and when I bought the Dyson v15 about three years ago it cost me $1400 ???
Same I spent 1500 on the v11 outsize when it came out. I've ordered the ryobi it's on its way as my v11 is dying
It's also amazing the difference in prices between countries we get ripped in Australia
@@Troys-reviews Your v11 is dying? That's unacceptable. At the price they charge you expect to get ten years out them.
@@jbooks888 exactly
I’m not seeing the dual roller model from Ryobi. Is it still not out yet?
Nope. I'd expect it to be another two or so weeks if there's no last minute revisions.
Wow, amazingly well done, Great info, seems the Ryobi is a Great vac
My Makitavac starts on 2 of 3, i hate that, you spoke from my heart. I have a Badaptor for Makitabatteries on Ryobidevices, so that Vac is a thought, thanks for testing.
Had a Dyson and all I can say is I was not impressed the shark x2 was way better and cheaper and came with 2 batteries
I hear good things about Shark. Thanks for sharing
You’re amazing bro. Loved your Ryobi collection.
Which one is the best for long hairs? Isnit possible to remove the rollers on the ryobi so the hair can just get sucked up?
I have the single roller Ryobi and with limited use around cats, hair wound up on the end of the roller... got hot and melted where the end of the roller connects and spins. I had a very hard time taking it apart and doing my best to fix it... smoothing out the melted plastic so it would spin again. Wasn't long after and it did it again. No metal bearing, its plastic. Altogether, it lasted less than two months of occasional use. The head unit still works and I use it at work for small cleaning tasks.
Get it replace.
The issue with the Ryobi is that massive bulky head - makes it less then enjoyable maneuvering around furniture etc.
The ryobi wins for sure because of price point plus the only con you kept mentioning about the weight is as easy as a battery change so ryobi all day
Swapped out the battery on my Dyson for a receiver that accepts DeWalt 20v batteries. It's really the best of both worlds.
I’ve have 2 Dyson hand held vacs and both, almost right away, quit working as intended...never again with a Dyson.
This guy's voice is 2 parts vacuum tester, 1 part youth pastor.
Loving the WPS shirt🤙🏻
I would like to see a long term review on this ryobi as I’m looking into a stick vacuum for cleaning up litter tracks from the cats
Why don't people use the other attachments other than the roller? How well do these suck up big chunks?
The Ryobi is probably designed to pick up bigger bits better because it's a Ryobi....as in it's expected to be used in a workshop where you naturally find bigger bits. As for the laser, well the Ryobi obviously has power at the head end because of the light. It won't take long before moders use that power to make a clip on laser.
dyson starts you in auto mode(medium) which adjusts suction based on surface and how dirty surface is , the high setting eats the battery in 10 minutes and is way to strong for carpets(gets stuck to carpet), im sure you know this, not sure why you said what you said
I mean look at his garage
Dyson all the way. Just feel better.
Only for dust... Is there any good old cord vacuums with hundreds of watts picking up hardwood like they used to?
I love these small robot vacuum cleaners if you have one extra I would love one 😅😅😅 And tk for a vary good video 🎉
For me the noise level is very important and it sounds like the Ryobi is really loud. Are there any major difference?
a broom works the best for that larger trash on any hardwood floor or tile floors, then the vacuuming starts.
I wonder about buying that Ryobi but worries me the weight...is it heavy?
It was very helpful. thank you
Dyson all the way. The laser is absolutely amazing and helpful. You see every piece of dust and dirt. The V12 is push button, not trigger.
Ryobi is own by TTI which owns Hoover Oreck and Dirt Devil the battery used is the same as there one power system Hoover uses in there cordless lineup.
yeah this ryobi has the same dust bin and cyclone design as hoover onepower blade
I need a vacuum that will actually pick up cat litter and not spray it back onto me. Can you include that in one of your tests, please??
It is suitable to clean mattress regularly with Ryobi?
What I want to know is how Ryobi got the dual brush roll design. Shark made a patent on this feature. Did they get permission from shark or am I missing something? I think on your big mess test some pieces made the floor head prop up and caused it to miss the fine dust. Also why would you always want max power? Most of the time you can do with regular power. Plus it helps with battery longevity in the long run. It’s like keeping a manual car at the highest RPM for maximum power, but you are just wasting gas at the stop light or cruising down city streets.
My newer LG cord zero has dual roller bar thing like the Ryobi. And my LG cord is zero also has the self empty base and my old one does not have it.
I’m a Ryobi girl to begin with. I own 5 batteries already so I think I’m good to go get one. Thanks.
Does the dual roller on ryobi suppose to be both spinning?
I always leave my vacuum in low power mode because my entire house minus the area rug for the living room area is hard surface. So in that case it's nice being on low mode all the time.
Sounds like the Dyson still has the better suction power overall? But still excited for this new Ryobi.
"What features should we include
on our vacuum with already terrible battery life?
A frickin LASER BEAM!"
That's such a Dyson thing to do!
