Well since the “Boss” wanted the Dyson V8 Animal that’s what she got! I did get a great battery adapter to use my M18 batteries for much better run time! Now that this Ryobi advanced stick is out this will be the next one!
Looks like Ryobi is the winner. We have a Kirby that works well but weighs 800 pounds. Empty nesters that need something a little more convenient. Thanks for the comparison.
I have a old Dyson V6 converted to Ryobi batteries. Things so overpowered compared to the standard Dyson batteries haha. That new Ryobi will be my next investment when the dyson fully dies!
My experience with the longevity of dyson cordless vacuums after 2 models has not been great, they do not seem like they are built to last though performance with them has generally been good (had a v8 first that died after about 4 years (and went through two batteries in that time) and my current V10 after 2 years has a broken plastic trigger and wobbly arm though it still functions at the moment. Meanwhile I've got ryobi tools that are a decade old and still going strong. It's also nice to be able to charge the ryboi batteries separately (and have a collection of batteries to swap out), having to store the dyson near an outlet to charge it means I can't just keep it out of sight in a closet somewhere.
I am curious to compare a shark with similar features. Dyson is a well known vacuum that usually performs well but not the best, comes at a higher priced compared to competition.
I'm a fan of the Shark Rotator vacuums, but haven't tried any of their cordless yet. If I ever get a chance, I'd like to test all 3 against each other.

Thanks, George! Yes, all of those things are included with the Ryobi. I didn't get a chance to show the wall charger for it, which is a nice setup. The vehicle I was showing was a 2012 Chevy work van.
I've spent 3 days researching and I'm 100% going to be buying a ryobi. The Dyson is over priced and isn't any better in performance. And the biggest thing is my tool batteries will fit in the ryobi
Clear winner is surprisingly the ryobi but the dyson is not the top of the line model and had beem used for a few years so the match is not entirely fair

It would have picked up the turtles as well as the Ryobi. I have last year's version of the Ryobi and after a few uses, I was unimpressed. The head is too big to maneuver around furniture because of the double roller. The overall construction and assembly of the Ryobi vacuum is cheap and flimsy. It eats batteries like crazy. I get about 12 minutes of runtime on a 4AH battery. Need to use 3 each time I vacuum. It's not at all convenient for vacuuming a car, it's too long and unwieldly. It's nearly impossible to get replacement filters. The Ryobis are OK vacuums, but you can get better and cheaper.
Thanks for your details comments on the stick vacs. The thing I like best about the Ryobi vacuum is that the stick part quickly detaches from the head and gets into the corners without a crevice tool. This is handy with 2 dogs in the house. Overall, I've been happy with the Dyson, and found replacement knockoff filters on Amazon. I'll have to see what options are available for Ryobi filters.

Can Milwaukee just end this and make a 18v stick vacuum eco system for the home. I feel they only want to do job site stuff but they would kill it if they did home stuff with the same innovation and quality as their job site stuff too. They can make an entire eco system of home use battery powered devices.
I've heard they want to stick to tools used in the trades. I'm sure many would agree with you. It would be nice to see a stick vacuum if all your batteries are on that platform.
I'm pretty sure that milwaukee is their line aimed at contractors, ryobi is owned by same parent company and is aimed at homeowners. We will be waiting a while for a red version of this vacuum.

We use the Ryobi stick vac in our home most often. We also have a Shark Rotator.

I got the bug on the dash. I just had to go over to the drivers side to reach it. The 12 passenger van is pretty big to work in.

This Ryobi stick vac is pretty amazing. We have a busy household and 2 dogs. It keeps up very well with all of our needs.
Dyson seems to be a joke. It was so funny.
