    Brilliant family fun. Reminds me fondly of those days I used to go fishing with my Dad, his dog and my sister. That was 60 years ago and I smile anytime I remember. Those are my fondest childhood memory.

    People are so weird. While the vast majority of the near 10 million who viewed this, know it's a perfectly healthy hunting method...the 5700 people who didn't like it for whatever reason and click dislike, I feel are uneducated. Also, I absolutely adore Mamba. She seems to have the sweetest demeanor towards Joseph of all the mink I've seen on the channel. They really do all have individual personalities, much the same way you'll see with dogs.

      In Croatia, and I'm pretty sure in rest of Europe aswell, carp is THE one freshwater species (more often than Wels catfish, zander, pike..) that is bred and farmed for food. Also it has quite a good reputation considering it's meat quality and growth rate and is absolutely loved in dishes as well as it is among anglers. Also we tend to preserve it since it's such valuable fish here and things like bowfishing and other "sports" commonly practiced in America which can leave those creatures crippled and suffering is unheard of and prohibited by law so to run into videos like that where someone is practicing his/her archery on carps and leaving them die pointlessly (not even eating them) always leaves me in disbelief and kinda mad, but oh well I'm getting sidetracked I guess xd
      Just wanted to say, gills, scales and gut should be removed. Of course proper thermic proccessing (as you would do with any fish) and you enjoy yourself 👍👍

    • @nicholausedwardwijaya8822
      @nicholausedwardwijaya8822 2 роки тому

      Actually, yes you can! Here in Indonesia, they are one of the staples of fresh water fish! Just make sure to clean them thoroughly from head to tail before you eat one though.
      Edit: cook them well too. No half-dones or rares.

      @@kvn13 I'm also from Europe near the Black Sea and quite a lot of fresh water since we're near the Danube Delta and there's also plenty of lakes, Carp is indeed the most common fresh water fish and very widely farmed for food and sport fishing but I have to say having a big diversity of fish here, Carp is my least favorite of them all... it's mostly the fact that it's filled with a lot of tiny bones and you need to be very careful even when eating it because some of them might get stuck in your throat and they're very dangerous for small children but there is also it's meat texture, especially the meat near the spine which I don't find very appealing.
      I wouldn't go as far as calling it a dirty fish, given the fact that catfish and cray fish eat even decomposing corpses but it's commonly known as the pig of the fish given the fact that he will eat any underwater vegetation indiscriminately and some of the lures used for fishing carp stink badly, basically you can use bait with almost any strong bad smell and Carp will bite...
      Side note: in the Carp cooked with vinegar or boiled for a long time the little bones dissolve and the meat is easier to eat but it still has a LOT of bones, the most out of any fish I've eaten and I ate almost all types of fish except shark, whale and squid...

      Depending on the size of the carp. In Bulgaria people (not me personally) eat carp up to about 1kg(2.2lbs) as this is pretty much the norm in fish markets. On the 6th of December for example the traditional meal is stuffed carp. Fish farms were selling them for about 2 euro per kilo :)

    Here it's 5 bucks for one kilo the wild carps, caught in the main river, and it's a very good fish to eat especially the bigger ones, coz of the bones it's likely to eat the small ones. Deep fried and served with garlic sauce and corn bread, that's the most common combo.

    In the UK, us carp fisherman pay lake owners to catch and release carp. We have to use hooks which are barbless to protect their mouths and even special mats to lay them on once caught to take the hook out and keep their scales etc safer. They get incredibly smart once caught and we have to often change tactics to keep the line/hook/weight etc hidden or they'll get spooked and swim away refusing to take the bait. They'll even get smart and not go for the same bait twice especially the bigger and older fish.
    Just thought I'd share.. I love the mink man's work!
    May Jesus bless whoever maybe reading this.

    Your comment about carps sounds incredible to me. I live in France and I can tell you that carp fishing is a very serious matter as a sport, here. Carp is also served in some restaurants, but, honestly, pike and zander (pike-perch) are most prized.

    I've eaten carp twice, unbeknownst to me until after eating it. They were cooked 2 different ways; 1 was pressure cooked and the other was smoked. I am a fish fan and they were the best fresh water fish I have eaten, better than bass and trout. I, too, thought they were garbage, but it's very tasty and a hearty meat. CAUTION, they have bones everywhere.

      They get a reputation of being a bottom feeder but they eat vegetation, primarily. They aren't a bottom feeder like catfish and crawfish/lobsters, though. The Bible says a clean fish for consumption has scales and gills, or scales and fins, I forgot, but the carp falls under a clean fish either way.

      But why do they call carp, "tilapia?" That just sows confusion. Tilapia belong to an entirely different family of fish than carp. Carp are cyprinids, while tilapia are cichlids. Both fish are omnivorous and cause problems if released into hospitable waters, since they breed prolifically and displace native species.

    I grew up on Stuffed Carp, a traditional North-Eastern Europe Jewish Sabbath dish.
    To my question "Why go through all the trouble?" I was reminded most NE Europe Jews were poor and Carp was cheap (abundant, and full of needles and scales). All this was before WWII , during which the German Nazi regime and it's collaborators rewrote the Jewish demographics in Europe.

    You are exactly right about Americans not eating a fish the rest of the world relishes. I grew up fishing for carp and I have to tell you, they are great fighting fish. I have also filleted them out and smoked them and they were really good. The trick is to catch them out of clean water. When you fillet them, you fillet them normally then go down about a third of their thickness and fillet them again and that takes care of the “Y” bones.

    As a german I 've eaten carp and they can taste good. But yes they can also be very disgusting under certain circumstances, even if you let them swim in clean water for a few days. Once I had
    "Graskarpfen" that were huge, given to us by a friend - disgusting, must have lived their whole life at a bottom of a cesspool. Even days in a clean bathtube didn't eleminate the foul taste.

      hi joe I was wondering if you think it would be more efficient to use a otter to take down larger muskrats and larger nutria otters are also very smart and easy to train.

    • @sheenacarlson2982
      @sheenacarlson2982 5 років тому +1

      and if you do you should get an African clawless otter they are very efficient hunters. African clawless otters are not threatened at all. I don't know if you can keep otters where you live though. and if you can get an African clawless as a pet where you live you will have a great hunting partner. and if that's too big you should get an Asian small-clawed otter which is the smallest otter species.
