Bindi isn’t just fast, her acceleration is phenomenal. She’s also much more intelligent about energy management, she doesn’t go after a rat if one of the other dogs is after it or waste time and energy playing tug-of-war. Quite a treasure trove for the dogs! Those rats were so bold and numerous.

Dude's pain tolerance is through the roof. There's an old video of a muskrat slicing his finger open in a long gash, and he sutures it himself when he gets home. There's another video on his club website of one of Maggie's cousins challenging him to a hot pepper eating competition, where they both chew and swallow a very hot pepper and the first person to touch water or milk loses. It's hilarious seeing the Central American dude struggle with the heat while the white guy calmly bounces his baby on his knee.

@@faefiercevulpine6990I mean he wasn’t calling them terrible people for it, just pointing out a fact, I’m sure they have their own situation but the excess debris attracts pests, just is what it is
I get the reasoning, but on farms it hardly makes a difference. He’s visited places where debris is limited and the rats simply dig MASSIVE underground tunnel systems that they have to dig up and flood instead. And i do agree some debris should at least be moved to help with accessibility for extermination, but the issue there is disturbing the rats’ hiding places can make them disperse and that creates a new challenge. It’s really better to just leave it be until he arrives.
Imagine being one of these rats... You just escape a pack of dogs and your now in your hidy hole. You breath a sigh of relief, only to turn around and see the noodle grim reaper sprinting directly at you...
When Bindi was watching that whole and doing her best "pointer", her breathing was so controlled. No tongue out, long breaths, no panting. That was impressive.
Sherni was amazing but Bindi is really a wonderful smart dog. Thanks for the videos and all the best to you and your family. From an austrian who hardly ever comments in videos. Love this channel.
Highlights: Bindi & Leia both discovered "rat vending machines," Joe holding a "bouquet" of rats, rat "delivers food" directly to caged mink, & apparently Bindi can now fly.🤩 Fabulous video!
You guys are awesome. Helping folks and doing environmentally friendly pest control. I would love to see you hop the border and come over to Colorado next time you travel. Love you guys!

Am from 🇬🇧🏴 Lancashire Preston l love to do this in the 1980 … for fun, and at weekends and the week am to old now but to see your videos bring back memories, and the great Dogs and ferrets we did had, now all dead,
42:55-43:01 is a tradition with Bindi. Other than her athletic ability, she's very capable at making quick decisions, patiently waiting, being aware of her surroundings while ratting, focusing, and getting right back to work once she's killed a rat or one of the other dogs is trying to take her kill. She's also amazingly creative when it comes to quickly coming up with a plan on which direction to go in to catch a running rat and coming up with a plan to get a rat to try to escape after hiding so she can kill it.
Another masterpiece from the Mink Man. I noted, and agreed with, your assessment of Juno's ratting intelligence at 3; in your experience, can that improve over a dog's life with age and training or has Juno's full potential been reached? Gotta love wifey's aggravation when she alerts and the dogs miss it- give her a 9 on drive for sure. Great job editing, by the way, that must have taken quite a bit of time. All the tight spaces on this job suited Leia particularly well, her small size helping her kill count here. The chicken wire is a neat idea- cheap, easy to install & remove, effective. Excellent video, very enjoyable view, thanks Joe.
I think Juno is still figuring out the basics. I change their ratings over time. So it's very well possible that a dog could start with a very low intelligence rating and end up with a very high one. On the opposite end of things, a dog could go down over the years in a trait like speed for example, as the dog slows down with age. Also, my views do change with time as well, and this will effect the dog's rating, as I look at how I've rated them each time, and often make minor adjustments if I feel the rating I gave before has either changed (typically this means the dog has improved) or maybe my view of how good the dog is doing might be the thing that has changed.
@@JosephCartertheMinkMan I think in this particular video, Juno seemed "juvenile", often trying to go after another one's catch, trying to sneak away catch (or putting it out of Joe's view/mind). Certainly not untrained or unsuited, but probably still a bit overwhelmed in tight spaces such as this case aswell as the amount of people around her. I'm impressed by Bindi's cunning though. Scorewise, Bindi and Leia might not be that far apart, but Leia clearly had to put way more effort in her catches, putting her speed and I guess you'd call it foolhardyness with all the, not sharp but certainly irritating, terrain "features" and clutter around the yard. Yet Bindi decides to leave the "easy" catches to her coworkers, staking out holes (as long as there is not too much happening around her, i.e. helpfull children :) ) instead of running after each and everyone, finishes her catches quick to instantly get ready to pounce the same hole again, like the one near that brass duck where Joe caught like 12 of the buggers by hand. Very interesting to watch, tho I got to wonder how many ..... "good meaning" people trying to preach about "won't nobody think about the poor rats, they did not do anything to you" you get. Keep the videos comming, not only because of "entertainment", but also as a knowledge base for other vermin catchers. Combining Miks/Ferrets with Dogs and flooding is a great way to "smoke" them out after all. Cheers.

Watched a few videos, and I'm hooked and inspired! Went outside to clean up my garden shelf... 3 rats popped out of my shade cloth and ran into my work table! (gross) Got my dog, flushed them out and she caught one. She was so proud of herself. She chases the rats that run along the top of our wooden fence, and she was so pumped to finally catch one tonight. I've never seen her run and maneuver so fast. Lol! Thank you for the inspiration.
Owners yard is absolutely disgusting, you’d think they would have cleaned up a bit to make it easier for the dogs and Joe to get around! Other than that great work dogs and minks!
42:56 was one of the best catches that i can recall. That was crazy from bindi. She avoided hitting i believe it was olive while tucking her legs in to avoid hitting the fence while landing almost directly on the rat.
Love the family affair. Been a fan of Bindi since she was a pup. I remember my original interest was with a young guy training Mink. It went against all the literature and I mean everything I have read over 50ish years of interest. However, the girls stole my heart almost immediately with their keen interest and involvement at even the 2 year-old level. They are so nice to each other and the animals.
