- This is a review of the new NECA Splinter and Baxter figures! I go into a lot of detail about what each accessory is and which episode it came from. The only one I couldn't figure out was the red book. I don't know if that's a generic book or some important piece. If you know please tell me! There was a lot of great stuff packed into this set. The neca Baxter is perfect. Cuz he’s half a fly so you’d figure he’d be smaller anyway. I put him with the ultimates and it looks great,
It's the paint in the joints. U can heat them up in hot water, then take out the arm or leg or figure and slowly move around the joint of the arm or leg and it will start to loosening up
The red book is the Foot Clan founding book or whatever from Season 7 Episode 16 - The Legend of Koji.
Haha, thank you very much! I could have used you a week ago haha. I skimmed through all of the episodes looking last week and found it 3 days ago. I’ll have a video detailing all of the 2017-2020 accessories up in a day or two so I had to find out what it was.
@@razrentals8897 I just stumbled upon it today, so I was useless a week ago
@@ioannespaulusify haha, don’t worry! I appreciate you letting me know!
A great, thorough review. Appreciate it as I won't get my figs for a while in Australia. That said they're easy to get - but take a while to get to our speciality stores here.
Anyway, another great couple of entries in the line.
I guess you can’t win haha. Here in the states we can get them quicker, but the hunt is intense. A lot of people here would do anything to be able to easily buy these in retail shops. I hope their target exclusive contract ends soon and they either do preorders on their site like Super7 or can make them all available in different stores. The movie line at Walmart was awful. I at least found the cartoon stuff at target. I only once found a movie two pack and it was because a worker hid it because he knew I was looking for it.
Hey Gary this is sledgemaster. Figures look good in the box
It’s nice for a change to see a splinter that is not shoulderless, he has his full kimono on. And I’m saying this since I’ve never been a fan of the splinter figures,But after these releases I’m definitely interested in the neca movie and cartoon series. Do you have a huge shelf of these figures?
I have them on a shelf, but it’s now overflown. I’m currently fixing up a new space to move all of my stuff so I’ll try to get the neca toys a bigger shelf. My playmates stuff is in a hutch.
That nice looking spinlter
Cool review. The joints do get stiff to why need to use the hairdryer to loosen them up.
It's a pain to find these figures but they are worth getting. Btw, what stand you are using for Baxter in the last few seconds of the video?
Thank you! I agree. The hunt almost gets to be too much, but when you finally find the figures it’s worth it! That’s a Neca flight stand. I got it at the Neca section in target.
Hopefully they'll do a pre-mutation Baxter Stockman at some point.
Neca revealed him this week! He’s apart of a 4pk with permutation bebop, rocksteady and Hamato yoshi
These are so cool! But glancing around, they seem very expensive too. Maybe I'm just looking at scalper prices, but they're almost $40 per figure? Sadly I don't have a Target around here, which sucks. Turtles in Time is one of my favorite games, so I'd love to have that Leatherhead and Slash figure. They were my two favorite bosses in the game.
The Splinter and Baxter two pack is still up for sale on the target website if you’re still looking!
@@razrentals8897 Thank you for the info! That's pretty tempting, but I don't have a lot of room left for collectibles, sadly! So I'm mostly just interested in picking up the Leatherhead figure sometime, since he's my favorite TMNT villain!
Hey, did you specifically pick the Splinter you got? As in go through multiples at a store/on eBay to get a copy like the one you have? With you being very meticulous, it wouldn't shock me. The vast majority of Splinter's have larger pupils where they're looking more straight ahead...or kinda off to the sides. So that's why I'm wondering if the copy you got was intentional or not.
They had two at the store I went to. I picked this one because the other one had a pupil that had a smear line through it. So yes I was a little meticulous haha. This Baxter had a little uneven paint around the eyes, but the other one was messy and had more splotches. It can be pretty tough finding the right one with these Neca figures. Today I found another Splinter at a local Target and the face was missing on Z the computer. I thought maybe this Splinter had the correct eyes, but I guess I was wrong haha. I’ll have to look at others peoples splinters. I guess the way his eyes are it makes him look a little angrier. Have you been picking everything up?
@@razrentals8897
Wow, another Splinter today. Only one Target near me gets them (or so it seems). Oh yeah, one of my Splinter sets has Z's face loose in the box. The way those eyes are definitely gives them a looking up/pissed off expression. Nothing wrong with that though. It's a hell of a lot better than 90 plus percent of 'em. I'll take about a hundred or so screenshots of figures I really like lol...so I can see if the QC issues on my copies are average or not.
Yeah, I've gotten every release, at least as far as the movie and cartoon lines. Only way I've been able to get the cartoon figures is making nice with a few Target employees. So having that relationship has been the only reason why I've been able to pick up every release (except Zorax & Zork - off eBay). They had three Krang's and four Splinter & Baxter's the other week. And they only get two to five of each release, and that's it. None of this craziness I'm seeing on the Facebook group, where certain locations are getting 12 to 18 sets...then other (high traffic) stores get zero.
@@Chalor. I think my two stores got 4-6 of splinter and 8 of Krang. Krang sold out extremely fast. The splinter I found today was still on the shelf at 4pm. That’s pretty late. I’m in a Facebook group too and I agree some people find so many. People were buying all of them too! I just wanted to find one for weeks haha. I kind of like the mad eyes too. He looks more determined. Or possessed like the rat king episode. Pupils are a mixed bag with Neca. I’ve seen some other peoples splinters and they look awful. Pupils all over the place. My sdcc turtles are wonky.
@@razrentals8897
Is it the TMNT NECA FIGURES group? It's the only reason why I'm on Facebook. I thought it was the only group for them months ago when I joined, but then found out there's more.
I've been hardcore collecting action figures since POTF2 in '95, and the cartoon Turtles are _by far_ the worst offenders when it comes to QC issues. Considering it's a line that's painted by hand, that's the first huge issue lol. I've seen plenty that have missing hands/two of the same body part, excess shiny glue residue, horns missing off the dinos, misaligned and warped parts, etc. I've had to look for a few replacements with mine cause there was areas where the black line work wasn't painted, or a bunch of line work where there shouldn't been. Totally missing pupils is the craziest I've seen. Splinter is definitely the most diverse/inconsistent with the paint apps that I've seen so far.
@@razrentals8897
My SDCC Turtles had crappy pupils to. Luckily I wasn't too late with finding out many many months later that ppl have been getting replacement heads from NECA. So I took a shot on the dark and contacted 'em. Got some really nice responses, and received replacement heads (with necks attached) within a month or two.
Did you end up getting the 2-packs from wave 1 so you could replace those wonky pupil heads? I got the Donnie and Raph set. Just got extras of my favourite two _just in case_ something happens. So I've been keeping that up with the line, buying an extra set of my favourites. The bear trap clip on my Leatherhead fell right off after opening it...but definitely not gonna open my backup set just for that little issue.
The cartoon design always reminded me of a wolf. Like the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood in disguise as a rat sensei. It would've been cool to have gotten sculpted sharp teeth like they had in the show. Maybe they didn't cause it would've affected the closed mouth look.
With the mouth open, Splinter looks like a Muppet; especially with that potbelly design they went with...like he's one of Rizzo's cousins lol. So I definitely agree with you that it would've looked better if they extended the torso, and maybe shortened the legs a bit. If anything, they're a bit too tall compared to the brothers, but that's totally fine by me.
Hahaha I could totally see him working in the diner in Muppets Take Manhattan! I could see the wolf comparison. That’s probably why I like it more than a rat design.
Nice cartoon looking sword
I remember the book long years ago on a turtles cartoon. Far as I remember
I’ll have to watch more episodes and see if I find it.
With you bringing up the original toy look, yeah it's always been pretty damn weird to me. They were one of my favourites and I still have mine from a kid, but they look like some koala nose havin' extinct marsupial.
A cartoon accurate Splinter has straight up been a grail want for me since the 80's. As far as the main characters, Splinter gets little to no love.
Agreed. Splinter and Shredder were figures I always wanted just like the cartoon. That’s not the usual for me either. Almost everybody else I prefer the playmates design. Those two were misfires. April too probably. I never had the original April as a kid, but I probably wouldn’t have thought it looked as good as the cartoon. I had the later release when they switched the head and added orange to her suit.
@@razrentals8897
Yeah, Shredder is definitely the best example of "what the fuck?!" With NECA trying to get the rights to make Archie Comics Turtles, we might get some Playmates style versions of characters like Ray Filet. Even though I'm not familiar with them, I'd love to get those leopard and hyena characters too.
I'm pretty sure I had an April when I was a kid. I think it was one of two female figures I had...the other being Teela. My friend here that collects mentions the story a lot about which particular April he had. Like there was one with white boots and another with orange boots. But yeah, I didn't know there was one with orange in the outfit too.
@@Chalor. the outfit is completely orange. There’s just certain parts that are orange. Like her pockets or something. I’ve been meaning to make a video on the 1988 April. I’ll probably show the later version in that too, but I don’t have it loose only moc. I hope Neca gets Archie characters. I’d be curious if they’ll make them in the same style as the toon figures or have their own line.
Splinter was always a rat, now his master was human
Joe BESSER was one of the later Stooges, I love that scroll lol
I’ll have to look him up. Is he the guy who didn’t like to be hit? I saw on pixel dan’s video he noticed the last line down says soitenly.
Yeah that's him. Some guys just won't take one for the team, even for laughs
Big guy ur video is about over and have good Sunday what is left of it. Take care u and ur family god bless
Thank you! You too!
My favorite is the 2012 splinter. Feel like was the best one
The toy or the character in the show?
@@razrentals8897 meant the character
He probably was. That whole show was pretty great. I was happy that he was Hamato Yoshi again and not just Yoshi’s pet rat. I think it gives him a better character being a human stuck in a giant rat body.
