For me, killing Rize was the last act Kaneki needed to evolve completely: killing the person who made Kaneki Kaneki, cut the past and all the bad things Rize introduced into Kaneki's life (torture, suffering, death...) and keep the good things (the people he met, the lessons he learned, the changes he had for good-no more suicidal Kaneki). More than a plot development is character development for our King.
Or at least that's what I think Ishida was trying to tell us.

Honestly I felt like the quality took a downward spiral a little after Kaneki became the One eyed king, also Ishida skipping over some of the fights was kinda damaging to the story in my eyes. The finale arc could have been something truly beautiful... Despite all of it's faults, I still love this series!

I doubt he will "reboot" the final arc or wherever he felt like it didn't meet his quality standards. However, I hope he will do a spinoff series, like the story of Scarecrow or the background behind how ghouls were created, maybe as the original One Eyed King as main character.

Good afternoon. The last arc was pretty standard, but I didn't mind a little bit slow-pacing in an arc once in awhile. Sui Ishida had his reasons why he ended TG:Re and I accept them. Final arc sucked hard, luckily we can all laugh about it in about 2-3 years

I have already 3 comments but this is important for me because Kaneki journey as a person has been the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my experience with manga and anime.
He may not be your favorite protagonist but he is an incredibly well written character. Almost as well as Guts or Griffith from Berserk.
Can you make a video solely dedicated to his character on the Beauty of Kaneki's character. I have not read Holy land. Or that many manga to judge his character.

    • @Lurkai
      @Lurkai 6 років тому +1

Dis guy personally ishida never took to distinctly specifying that he could utilize other RC types.
I'd like to think he took a more practical approach similar to Saiko in manipulating his kagune so that it took the form of the different types his other close friends used. Also noting the physical and fighting prowess of each form im sure he felt they would be sufficient enough to help him during the fight. Or else I think he potentially would've just gone psycho dragon form like he did against Juuzo when he "blacked out" and lost.

    • @disguy3232
      @disguy3232 6 років тому

Lurkai nah i think he can. When he used the others it came from the distinct parts on his back. When he used the ukaku he fired projectiles. His winged form against furuta to me looked like a fusion of all of them. The dense cross parts from koukaku, the tendrils connecting them may have been rinkakau and the overall wing shape is ukaku.

Rize was very underrated. Personally I wish that her and kaneki were the only ones alive at the fallout of the city of Tokyo being destroyed and they together would lead the humans that were turned in to ghouls in a new future of the changing world and striving to destroy V. And then we get part 3.
I really wish we got a long story about the origins of ghouls, who was the first, how did RC red child cells get its name and who came first humans or ghouls?
Maybe ishida will reboot the last arc or something, who knows.

Its Chibi's fault that I have come across people saying oh he didn't care at all. Idefinitely disagree with anyone who says Ishida didn't care at all. Ishida had set up many plot point and the no. Of chapters were less. So, he had to change a few thing, skip a few. In other words, he changed his priorities to better fit the story within the no. of chapters he gave himself.
This is a very hard thing to do and requires lot of thinking.

(sorry this is such a long comment lol, I have a lot of bottled up thoughts over the series) I felt :re started going somewhat downhill around the rushima arc. rushima combined with cochlea dragged on for sooo long and I noticed a lot of fans began to drop off at the end of cochlea. Eto's fate from that point was left unknown and we heard nothing about her for aaaages until she was randomly brought back for, like, 2 chapters? Eto was such a fascinating character imo and I felt what happened to her at the end of the cochlea arc was really... bad..
I really started to feel the strain of :re during the valentines day fight. Furuta getting hostages to fight was literally The Dark Knight and I began to really hate furuta's character from that point. I couldn't comprehend his importance to the story lol and I know people pointed out he was kind of an opposite to kaneki but, I suppose I just preferred other characters we already had as the 'villains' or opposing forces. I would have been fine with furuta if it meant he was the catalyst for bringing back rize who became an even more important character but she was just there for kaneki to kill? which is weird! Since she wanted freedom just as much as the other characters did (instead of being Furuta's little house-wife) but she gets killed for that???
I also felt disappointed with Mutsuki.. I didn't mind their downward spiral because I felt it was expected as they would be a running parallel to kaneki from the first series....... but then it just became about Mutsuki being insanely jealous of Touka? That seemed so weak.. and shinsanpei just tagged along? because kaneki was responsible for his aunt not having legs?? ok....... it all seemed so bad and forced and mutsuki and shinsanpei just have this little talk with the rest of the quinx and then they're both over it? i expected Kaneki to have some role in helping Mutsuki move forward since he was also tortured but.. whatever I guess?
I felt so let down by the series but I kept reading because I thought we'd get answers, or better development... but it just very abruptly ended. I don't want to dislike the series because I'd been following it for over 4 years now.. I can understand Ishida becoming unwell from the stress, because, who wouldn't? You get something like 5 weeks off a year... That's awful.. But I feel shocked that he was so happy with what he was writing for the past 6 months, when I felt it was so rushed and quite weak compared to other arcs we had. I do feel guilty about thinking that, I understand it's his work therefore he chooses what happens, but I feel there was a lot of missed potential. There was so much foreshadowing that just got dropped........... Anyway, I hope my comment doesn't upset anyone, it's just how I personally feel.

ghoulon Completely agree with you neglecting Eto, ignoring her character and forgetting about her *twice* is really the worst Ishida could have done it last arcs of Tokyo Ghoul. I really love both him and Tokyo Ghoul, I just think he should have done her more justice both to her and her character. Not mentioning her in the epilogue despite every character who is alive being mentioned is really sad to me personally because she is now the only alive character in the end of Tokyo Ghoul who we know nothing about after the 7 years time skip (we don't know what she is doing after the 7 years time skip). I think Ishida should write a bonus chapter or something about what Eto, Amon, Akira, Yoshimura (if he is alive), Arata (if he is alive) and Matasaka (if he is alive) are doing after the 7 years time skip. There are a lot of people who are also wondering this and I feel like Ishdia shouldn't forget about this in the long run.

People shiting on the series just cause things didnt go the way they wanted it to and it looks like this baseless ´´argument´´ that the last 2 arcs are rushed is still being spread.
Uta vs Yomo and Amon vs Donato are the 3rd and 4th longest fights in tg, which means the fight scenes were kept consistent up until the end. This is a character driven series not a shounen, the psychological themes and ideologies are the main focus and seeing how Kaneki´s character concluded at the end, it completely delivered in that regard.
Also, the idea that Ishida didnt care and just wanted to end the series is complete bullshit and its based on the misquoting of Ishida´s final message in V16. He redrew the last chapter for V16 and is planing to make a Zakki 2 so how does that sound like a man that doesnt care or burned out?

So, if something in a story doesnt go the way you want it to, it´s considered a flaw?
Do you realize that 80% of the criticism about the last 2 arcs are based on nothing? the fights that are considered rushed are actually the longest in the series and i did the math to support that.
The last bit is addressing the misinformation that he spread along with many other youtubers.

every opinion is based on how you want something to go. He criticised the fight with suzuya which was off screened he didn't say every fight was short and just cause it's the longest doesn't mean it's long. How can you say it was based on nothing? did you watch the video ? Dude you edited your comment and you clearly didnt watch it. He mentioned he had respect for Ishida and made a separate video on it. The fights wasn't the only thing he mentioned. Also ishida did say that if he took a brake he wouldn't come back so he did force himself to finish it

All right. first of all, you need to realize that this youtuber, your beloved ´´idol´´ is a person just as you and me.
Suzuya´s fight? didnt even fucking mention it. The fights that i mentioned are an example of people following blindly the public opinion even though its wrong. ´´Just cause its the longest doesnt mean its long´´ what the fuck does that even mean? If the longest fights are considered rushed then what does that make all other fights in the series? why the bitching on these last 3 fights then?
Do you even know what logic is? ´´He said´´ thats the youtuber´s OPINION that you´re considering a fact. Also what the fuck? you´re not even addressing most the things i said. you´re literally talking about stuff that i didnt even mention. And yes its based on nothing. Bring me facts not your idol´s words.

Kaneki vs Arima 1st 39-40 pages

    • @Sufferents
      @Sufferents  6 років тому +23

So if something is bad its because it didn't go the way I wanted it to? What a weak and flawed comparison, guess nothing can be *critiqued* or pointed out because it all falls under the ideology of *Well I didn't like it so its bad* You first talk about the fights being only physically rushed and mention the length, you are only scraping the surface and putting yourself in the realm of comparing them to shonen fights. Firstly why even bring up the flawed argument that because TG is psychological horror it can't have lengthy fighting in it, let alone putting the entire fighting aspect into the shonen demographic, I shouldn't even have to mention why that's silly.
So lets start here, The Clowns Vs Amon & Renji. Overall rushed. Uta's character was completely belittled, wanting to kill and devour his closest friend while in a full kakuja to suddenly being happy that he lost to his friend. Straight away if you put any logic into that, if you were to lengthen that out and play on their relationship more and how it affected Uta or even forced in a flashback it would have been digested much easier. Even so because Uta lost to such a cliche and repetitive attack that always guarantees a win for Renji, (His ultimate lightning attack) which mind you was having literally no effect on Uta moments before but powered it up to smite him down like Zeus. It's always great to see Renji get a random power up for a power we literally know nothing about, but hey it defeated Uta in a full kakuja and thats the end of that, what a great fight with such depth lol.
Amon vs Donato was false emotion. We only ever got 1 flashback of Amon's childhood, in all it hardly plagued him throughout the story, let alone when he was a ghoul. But now we are meant to feel emotion for Amon and Donato because of their reunion and destruction of one another, no. Donato then cries? Are we meant to feel something for Donato who has never been played upon at all in terms of emotional response. Amon got false justification to make himself feel better but he felt sorry for Donato, a character we as a reader don't feel sorry for, because we hardly saw the past, but Amon feels emotion for his murderous adoptive father that put him and other children through hell. Not sure if you can call Amon smart or incredibly sympathetic towards mass murders, but hey doesn't matter cause we didn't see it nor was it even implied or played upon to any degree. As a result from above, if this was lengthened out in the fight as a flashback then it would have been a lot more emotional and people would understand both sides of Donato and Amon.
Because this stuff was paced through very quickly, the clowns were gone in a instance with the questions surrounding their individual movements that impacted the clowns and story to be left guessed. The Clowns played such a massive roll in the background but were never fully explained nor played upon to the fullest extent. We got a motive and that's it. Uta lost to Renij so stuff their original motive lol. I wonder if Renji defeated Uta earlier, the clowns may not even been a thing.
So you talk about Kaneki's conclusion but he doesn't have one, Kaneki is not a concluded character in any sense other then the story is finished. Kaneki's mental state is nothing in the final confrontation between Furuta and Rize. He literally showed nothing. The reunion with Rize could have been fleshed out completely and he could have got some beautiful final development points for Kaneki's mentality as he comes to accept who he is in front of Rize physically. As he comes to understand Rize's pain and *Her* tragedy along side his own, but he doesn't. He could have done this with Furuta also, coming to conclusion with what Furuta actually wanted and what he never got, Furuta has some forced development but fuck it was nice. it brought life to his character right at the end and humanized him, Kaneki didn't care, but he should have, cause he literally went through the same process not long ago with marrying Touka and finding out she is pregnant. Now you could say Dragon changed him to be heartless but it more so came off has fickle and rather counter productive with the overall ending.
Regarding the letter, take it as you want, but he was not jumping with joy writing tokyo ghoul, he actually even states that he always struggled drawing it and loving it. You can tell in his letter the the workload and pressure of releasing a chapter every single week was bringing him to his conclusion for the story, you can not love something if the work doing it is psychically, mentally and emotionally killing you. So he gave himself a time frame, 6 months, he literally apologized on his twitter to the publisher and magazine for being selfish. Now to me that sounds like he was pushing for the quickest ending possible that would make sense (And the ending shows it), finding happiness in the fact that in less then 6 months he would be free, which he also does mention that feeling of being released from a cage. Like I said take it as you want, but I've seen the same thing with the words he said and how people respond to it, "For the past 6 months I've enjoyed drawing TG" I don't think this has anything with him finding solace in his story again but like I said before, he was happy he could get his story to a ending and finding happiness in being released from drawing on such a strict workload.
Why would you compare him drawing Zakki to which he can do in his own time at his own pace, with a strict weekly workload that pushed him to his limits?
Fun fact Ishida has released nothing on his twitter regarding any sort of artwork, fun, tg, work etc. Seems to me he is taking a well deserved break after burning himself out.
But hey each to their own, I ain't trying to change people's opinions, I respect what ya think overall and how ya feel, So take this harry potter novel reply as more so a response to not only you but everyone that may want more detail from myself.
      Have a nice day.

I think apart from the last 2 or 3 arcs (I think 2) being quite a lot worse than all other arcs of Tokyo Ghoul franchise one of the biggest issues of Tokyo Ghoul's final arcs and the end of Tokyo Ghoul is the following. Neglecting Eto, ignoring her character and forgetting about her *twice* is really the worst thing Ishida could have done in the last arcs of Tokyo Ghoul. I really love both him and Tokyo Ghoul, I just think he should have done her more justice both to her and her character. For the kaneki vs 2 arata fight, I thought the skip was done to subvert expectations. Like kaneki transforms and he's like "I won't lose now. Everyone is depending on me, and I've grown so much stronger" and then he gets oneshot in the very next panel, which I took as showing how delusional he was in his statements. Then, (for some reason) they hype up the way kaneki was fighting and make it seem like the fight wasn't a complete stomp (which I found lame).

I think I would have liked it more even if the whole dragon part was cut and we just ended on a clash between Furata and Kaneki followed by the ghouls and humans starting a conversation opening up for dialogue. because at the point when Furata started raiding the underground tunnels several big players in the CCG had allready kinda realized that he was a real shady character with some ulterior motive. so following his death it wouldn't be too far fetched to see a dialogue between key characters such as Kaneki, Amon, Mado, Takizawa, Juuzou, Urie and more and having the two sides finally sit down and talk... Explain their sides so that both sides would get to know the full story.
Also one thread that was never tied up was Touka and Ayatos father, like seriously, with how long it is since the CCG got to him and the amount of Aratas the CCG produced there's no way he's not alive somewhere being harvested for organs...

No Bro Furuta wanting a normal life was something that he didn't realize. This is where my opinions differ. He was restrained despite being more competent. Wanted to do more see more but didn't get the opportunity. So, he grew bitter. His love for Rize didn't help.
He deluded himself into thinking that what he wanted was power fun. That single panel was what that made me him realize he didn't want all that power authority. A normal life could have been enough to make him happy.

Aw man.. I really wish we could've got a better end arc. The Dragon one was definitely confusing. I was confused on how Rize just popped up when it was just her kakuhou and not her entire brain or anything. Not sure, maybe I'm just dumbfounded. But Ishida needs rest, so let's give him a rest. He did his best anyway. It's not like Tokyo Ghoul:re went *complete* shit, right?

Maybe the Dragon Displaced Rize's Kagune and organs out of Kaneki and replaced them with Unidentified organs, thats why Kaneki seemed like he had new Kagune and also was changed in physical appearance when he was rescued. And Rize's Kagune and organs eventually either regenerated in a cocoon or stuff or The Dragon found the dead body of Real Rize and assimilated her and used her Kagune to revive her.

I know some people are unhappy with the end of :re. But if you think about it, Kaneki should have died. At the very beginning, and mentioned at the end, Kaneki says that if you were to right a book with him as the main character, it would, without a doubt be a tragedy. Kaneki had planted the seeds of Goat's goal, and dying at the end would have fit very well in my opinion. In the end, Kaneki achieved his goal of uniting humans and ghouls, and still came out alive. He gave us the happy ending in a story that otherwise shouldn't have had one. In my opinion, there was no downfall of :re because like you said, he gave us what we wanted, without us knowing we wanted it

    2. Kaneki Rize fight.
    3. Kaneki Rize conversation when Kaneki was drowning and seeing Ayato save Kaneki.

feel like the author should make a new novel about kanekis daughter. There's still conflict going on in Tokyo ghoul if you saw in the end and I feel that can be brought up with his daughter and how she grew up and got involved with it.
Along the way we are shown what *really* happened in tokyo re: with kaneki through flashbacks and stories told by others.
I'm also wondering where some characters went in the end like for an example; what happened to Eto? Did she die? Did she escape and live a life of peace or something?
I just feel there's a whole lot of potential with kanekis daughter and how it can maybe bring back what happened in tokyo re:/more explanation in tokyo re: .

Also there are some Kakujas roaming about too, and that story is a legend

The Ring Idea was great, but fucking riduclous in the context or TG. I mean, the idea was that because Kaneki had on the ring they had to search for a piece a metal...okay, but what about all the people who had rings on them when they were devoured, piercings, jewelry, hell, even phones and items in bags and purses people were carrying on them.
Personally I always felt Kaneki's fight with Furata should have been a political one, especially if you look at the characters who joined Kaneki. This story had Strong V for Vendetta vibes and other anarchist themes running through it's blood. That's why I dropped the series until the end when Rize came in denouncing his idea to bring CCG and humans to negotiations via violence. Bitch that's what a revolution is! It's not like ghouls had any other option, that was what forced ETO and Arima to make Kaneki the OEG because he was compentent, educated force that was both uman and ghoul and strong enough to police his own people. It felt like Ishida through away, what I would argue, was the entire point of Kaneki being Haisei; to develop diplomatic, comabtive and social standing to bring humans and ghouls together by working for CCG in the first place. Nope, turns out all it took was Hide to finally enter the story to accomplish all that.
I love Hide but he was almost a walking talking Dues Ex Machina and trivialized a lot of the effort Eto, Arima, Kaneki, and even Kanou to an extent, went through to try and help Ghoul kind by accomplishing it so easily.
Edit: Also, the Quinx squad, or at the very least Mutsuki, not joining V was a waste. Could have used them to explain so much about, especially when you consider they are the better form of V members, normal humans who can use Kagune but can eat normal food too???????? the Quinx squad should have been crazy important to the Washuu's and V!

I think the ring could be explained as - the monster took its time digesting them and there would be excreta. Hence the 3 day rest period.
Seeing how Kaneki didn't have his clothes on it digested it or excreted it. But since the ring was with Kaneki hand it wasn't thrown.
Now that I think about it. Its a pretty funny explanation.
Simply, put it was with Kaneki's body so wasn't excreted. Why didn't the same happen with Kaneki's clothes
Other explanation would be they were searching near the eye. So, the devoured humans weren't close to them.

honestly, this video was spot on. the final arc felt almost lackluster. this series was established by the saying of our main character’s (kaneki) story being a tragedy; and a tragedy i wanted. now, don’t get me wrong i enjoy a happy ending, but the last arc just didn’t fit with the characters nor the plot. so much was left unsaid and characters who were well written got an ending that was half assed. i understood Ishidas reasons for rushing through, but it sucked to receive a final piece that didn’t deserve to finish just yet.
fans have mountains of questions and sadly, i don’t think we’ll ever receive answer to and that just angers me

Also just to note Rize's "conclusion" I feel if we as an audience and as avid readers have to give context to it.
It was that Kaneki was freeing Rize from being used ever again (even though technically someone could prob clone her and make more dragon blah blah Part 3 blah).
Even though we never got rizes actual thoughts on why she was the way she was I don't think it mattered. It was her actions before she was captured that showcased that.
Furuta tried to "play house" when they were little and she didn't want that. I also assume he told her that she would be "bred" and that didn't settle with a young girl at all. And when presented with the opportunity to escape and do what she wanted to do?! Of course she took it and never looked back. If you look up the term "comfort woman" I'm sure you'll understand that, that was essentially the life Rize was going to lead. I feel we down play that about some of the females within Tokyo Ghoul but then again I'm not sure if ishida mean to tackle some
Of those issues that still persist to this day. The objectification of woman and people in herbal and how we just don't think about it until the person says "STOP IM A FUCKIN BEING AND I DESERVE RESPECT"
In rizes case she didn't need to demand respect because she realized as soon as she got out....she had POWER. She was more skilled and able than any other Ghoul out there..and she didn't even have to try. She was like Frieza. Never trained a day in his life but when faced with an actual life or death situation, she had no idea what to do. Done in by some goddamn "steel beams" ffs lol
But she wanted to escape any body who would hold her down and try to make her complacent, even if it was to keep her safe. Because she knew she could just kill anybody. Of course she underestimated furuta. Probably never had life experience other than wooing men or being cute tbh.
She survived for a good while until she was caught...again. And then it kept happening again and again. It melted her mind literally and destroyed her spirit.
I'm sure if there would've been a conversation with Kaneki...we would've needed like 3 chapters to really get deep into her psyche. I'd like to think the Kaneki x Rize chapters towards to the end was actually Rize ... but a part of me knows it wasn't.
Maybe you should do a video on Rize and how she might've felt about things. Because she was and probably is imo the most powerful and influential female character ishida created in the series and she didn't even have to really be one screen to show it.

    • @Sufferents
      @Sufferents  6 років тому +2

Its funny you comment this cause I recorded a video last night basically talking about her. unfortunately I didn't come to the same conclusion as you did. I still recognize Rize being the most important female character in the story however it is played through Kaneki for 80% of it. She played a pillar in Kaneki's mind which creates that essence of *Not having to be shown to be important or to gather development.* However this brings up some odd choices towards the end and rather her conclusion as a character. Seemly my problem with her is how Ishida used her at the end to finish Kaneki's *tragedy* but he also went out of his way to point out *Her* tragedy as well. I felt her *story* was rather little to consider it a final ending point for both characters and how intertwined they are. My main problem comes down to 2 overall choices
Rize felt like a replaceable character regarding her time in dragon, realistically speaking she could have been replaced by almost anyone to gain a more emotional ending towards concluding Kaneki as a character. But Ishida doubled back and wanted to point out *her tragedy* which is indeed one of course, but it felt so forced to try and draw emotion from it, considering he played on her *tragedy* so little. We got small flashbacks filled with torture scenes that ultimately didn't (At least in my opinion) live up to the emotional weight Ishida was trying to shift onto concluding her character. It's like we were meant to feel bad for her obviously cause of everything she went through but if Ishida was going to end the story with Kaneki and Rize's confrontation being the last thing, you would think he would spend more time making her more relatable, showing us more of her and the struggle as well as more scenes of her *torture* carrying over into Kaneki for example (Which in my opinion would have been fucking incredible) Even if this took place when Kaneki saw Rize in his mind and forgave her, imagine instead of his mind he dived into a torturous complex of Rize's, surrounded by blood and death and misery but ultimately when he forgives her it all vanishes and there minds merged more so together, Kaneki becoming a portion of Dragon and more of Rize when he comes out. Doesn't have to be a dramatic as this but something even small on these lines would have been real nice leading into the final moments between them.
This makes me believe that Ishida was maybe never going to use Rize as the final stages of Kaneki's journey, but ultimately for me it would have been all worth while if she said some very simple but massive words that would have helped draw that emotion from readers to make us feel for her character and her *tragedy* but also feel for Kaneki's choice to kill her and ending it (This is more so for the story that Ishida gave us, compared to the one above that revolves around Ishida playing on Rize more, I guess this could also work well with that) Those words for me would have been, ( *Thank you Kaneki* ) as she sheds a single tear or even a small smile. Now that might seem out of place for her character but that would have been so emotional coming from her, a character that has been through so much finally being released from her nightmare. This also would have cleared up the idea of her being completely reborn with her memories which is something that was never answered. They played on immortality heavily throughout the final arc, Rize was technically the embodiment of it, if she remembers Kaneki and thanks him, that would have cleared up the fact that she is well and truly immortal and has all of her original memories. Meaning she could also be reborn again from literally her Rc cells just being a thing.
More so I really enjoyed Rize's character and played such a massive role in pushing Kaneki throughout the story. Looking back I would have love to seen more of her struggle whether from her past with more detail or even times in the torture chambers. But ultimately I liked the way Ishida went with her just felt like the ending didn't do her much justice on the *climatic* department but that's just me.
Thank ya for the effort put into that comment.

    • @Lurkai
      @Lurkai 6 років тому

Dresrosa yeah I feel as if her ending was anticlimactic in terms of emotional weight because we didn't see much of her and the situational focus was more so on other character endeavors and problems.
Like we as reader put ourselves in the seat of these characters so we can relate to them more even tho we will never know what it's like to have a murderer as a father or an abuser as mother.
But we enjoy trying to empathize with our characters to build the relationship with them up. And ishida is a master at that, no doubt in my mind. I can't think of a single character I don't really care about about or wouldn't at least talk about in length (cept aura...he can fuck off 🙃)
With Rize I honestly think ishida still would've ended with her considering it all began with Kaneki and her. I mean they were both so naive and stupid in the beginning, making dumb decision after dumb decision. Thought we didn't get into rizes early story till later in TG pt1, you can follow her steps and every step she takes leads her further away from a normal life where she can do what she wants.
Always finding her self either potentially being used or told what to do for her own good (Sachi saga). I think if we had gotten more insight into her inner thoughts WHILE she was in these situations we would've gotten a more true representation of Rizes psyche and come to better conclusions rather than kind go shoot in the dark about her prerogative.
Though I still stand firm in that I think she just wanted a normal life same as furuta. But one where nobody would tell her what she could and couldn't be, what she could and couldn't do. In a way that's kind of the woman's journey nowadays, to try and break free from what people say you should do with YOUR body.
At the end though, same as you, I'd like to think she very much appreciated Kaneki being the one to take her out and make sure she wasn't being used.
I also wanted to note that maybe dragons mass eating of people wasn't just Kanekis will to eat the oggai but also partially Rizes unconscious will to consume without reserve. To do as she pleases. Though I don't think she wanted to kill everybody in the world at once. She seemed very reserved and tactile about her meals even though she ate a lot.
But what I think draws my conclusion to her character with Kaneki is that it's almost perfect that we didn't get a conversation while she was in dragon form. If you think about it, she was being controlled by some other type of life form (dragon) and forced to do stuff she otherwise probably wouldn't do. I think her talking normally would've been a bit jarring because of how alien she seemed if that makes sense. And so for Kaneki to take her out it's almost poetic because even though Kaneki had NO idea about her past, I'm sure he probably understood from being with ghouls that Rize just wanted to be free and do her own thing, and that what she was in that moment was not something she wanted. It's a very specific thing to think but being Kaneki and his own experiences, id bet he could come to that conclusion very fast (he's a smart guy after all).
And just to add to your dialogue you gave her. The "thank you Kaneki". I would probably gone for.
      "Thanks for that date".
Ina way showing she remembers the day they met and probably respected Kaneki for actually enjoying something SHE enjoyed instead of wanting to just fuck her lol. Like I'm sure she had gotten sooo many guys who just wanted to bone her because of her looks, and then here comes this wimpy little kid who's intrigued by her literary taste.
I feel that's the reason Rize played with Kaneki before she almost killed him, otherwise I honestly feel she would've just cut his head off and been done.
Like she genuinely kind of liked him. Maybe if they both weren't so naive, things could've played out where they would've had a Shu x Hori relationship. Which also would've been an interesting take on the series
Edit: also noting this Rize did know that Kaneki wasn't hateful towards her. Or at least I'd like to think she hopefully understood him while she was hunger shaved back in part 1. So technically before the last "dream" chapter in Re: Kaneki had stated before he didn't hate her. So I'd like to think dragon Rize also knew this. Which might be why she didn't exactly kill him and allowed him to kill her.
I totally think dragon Rize was more powerful than Kaneki but that her will to not be a tool potentially superseded the will to survive.

I never thought Kaneki would get a happy ending. Even tho from a critical standpoint, having characters like Naki and Ayato, or even Kaneki survive doesn't make much sense for a tragedy, it brought a genuine smile to my face. My biggest problem is actually something I haven't seen too many people adress, and that's the way Mutsuki turned out. Felt like it was a useless run in a circle at the end. PS: Sorry for the long comment
