- Episode 8 is dedicated to my day at the 2017 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. After spending the past 3 years working on special projects surrounding this race, it was nice to be able to travel where I wanted, when I wanted and spectate/document without pressure to follow any one (or more) particular runner.
Major props to the amazing women that battled in the intense heat and to Jim Walmsley for taking a swing at doing something potentially unprecedented and amazing. I know he will be back.

what a great way to spend 33.42 minutes - fabulous insight into an amazing race
Every time I watch this I get teary-eyed! So emotional to see all of these people put so much effort in all their training, all the runners support camp and pace runners, spectators cheering, and also the people at the aid stations. Truly inspiring!
Even when you're not making a western movie, you still make a great western movie

Really inspirational running. I binge watch Billy's movies whilst I'm training on my bike in my garage. Love your work man.

Great synopsis of Western States. Great to see you at Chilao during the AC100. I have signed up to do AC100 next year. It will be my second ultra. I have to run a 50 mile race between now and August. That will be my first ultra. I will be 61 years old but not acting like it. Oh yeah, Walmsley is going to run it. This is going to be epic.

Entertaining video. Fun to watch. Great editing to keep it moving at a good pace. No dull moments.
One thing I felt uncomfortable about and probably not as big a deal as it seemed but why not put the camera on the dashboard while driving? It freaks me out when Yang keeps looking over at the camera and not at the road.
And, no, I am not the legendary ultrarunner Jim King.
Another great video, really appreciated the relaxed stance you were able to take, must have felt good :D I like the raw footage too.. amazing the crowds that form that runners have to deal with as well at that big aid station, didn't realise the extent of that!

Very well done on the video my good brother. Its too bad Jim didnt run much slower earlier on. Its not about getting the course record. Its about pacing yourself according to the conditons, in this case a lot of snow, and much more important then that, the extreme heat. Have to take it slow early and often, when your facing a lot of extreme heat, to finish and win a race of this nature. That being said, Jim is a great racer, and will hopefully come back to get it done next year.
Agree. It will make it that much sweeter once he puts it all together though.
But on the other hand, seeing Jim trying to do something spectacular in stead of just trying to win by running conservatively, is just so much more admirable in my opinion and also adds something extra to the race.

Fair play to them, but they have so much help from crew etc. I would respect them so much more if they were more self-sufficient.
Love your videos but can't stand that music men.Sorry but when the bit starts I just mute.It's so loud and doesn't fit with the mountains and the atmosphere on top of them.so magical and the bit just kill the feeling. I will continue of course watching films and videos but with caution always.
