Thanks so much for taking a camera with you and congrats on a solid top 10 finish. Its one thing to hear about the conditions from finishers and another to actually see them! That shit was crazy!
You know, youtube needs so many more videos like this. Real people doing real things; no flash animations and overdubbing; just cool people running a very difficult race. It makes me feel good in a good way, if that makes any sense. This sort of stuff gets me high.
I love that the guy (either Nick or James idk) ahead of him is doing this in the swim trunks I had in 7th grade and some shoes you can get at the outlet mall. Hella props.
First off congratulations for a great result! Second, thanks for taking us along! It really felt like we were there. Your excitment is contagious! You're doing a lot for the sport Jamil, keep it up!
Wow! I was amazed when I saw your finishing time. You made it look so easy that I thought you were in the back of the pack! And you did that while filming portions!! Great job. Thank you for letting us mere mortals see what Hardrock looks like throughout the race.
Amazing ! Bummer about the camera running while in your pack. We finally get to see the Hardrock course backcountry. Beautiful country. 9th place...you rocked, or should I say , you Hardrocked that course. I think we all forget how good of a trail runner you are...with all your other occupations...video cameraman and producer, You Tube talk show host, race director, music producer and now a rapper...WOW !....and you still got 9th place. Great job and a MAJOR CONGRATS on the race. Now...time to take care of that Barkleys beast.
Thanks so much Randy! It's been a few years since I've been happy with a performance, but this was a good one. Excited to show people what I can do. I'm hungry.
Oh man, thank you so much for sharing this with us, you make this look so casual! Congrats on your personal best, that was solid. Truly inspiring. Have a great recovery!
Recently found your channel, and while I've always stayed fit & healthy, your enjoyment out in the field in these videos got me back into running/races! Thank you 😊
This course is soooooo beautiful!! I've only ever seen footage from around the aid stations before, so thanks for taking the camera out on your solid run at Hardrock! Way to go!
I can't believe you brought a camera along to record your amazing experience at Hardrock! It is incredible and the low key nature of it really shows the inside beauty of the people, the race and the San Juans. Sad that the camera turned on in your pack, I would have loved to have seen the rest of your race.
+Chris What I have done is to remove the battery when I put an action camera in my pack, but then it takes a lot of extra time to put the battery back in when you want to take a video clip. And take 3 batteries with you fully charged, and have a charging cable and charging battery. One battery in the camera, 2 on standby.
@@tuesdaysrunner4038 What I do is shove three up where the sun don't shine and but the issue is it takes a lot longer to get it out & ready for a quick vlog etc
You're very talented Jamil. It's inspiring. I broke my femur and couldn't run half a block without stopping. Years later I gathered up the courage to push through the pain. I did a 16 miler trail run-5,000 elevation gain/loss. I'm training for my first 28 mile trail ultra. Nothing compared to what you are doing but what keeps me going is feeling like you are going places/having adventure in nature and being out in the mountains.
This is one of the most incredible videos I've seen. I'm not one much for vlog style videos, but Wow. There is just so much I loved about this.. The scenery obviously.. But mostly.. Your attitude, especially in the face of unexpected adversity and truly unfortunate circumstances.. You're an inspiration.. Truly. I will watch this video many more times when I need a reminder to change my perspective and choose to call some unfortunate situation "epic" instead of whining and complaining about it.. Having a good day is a choice.. I've forgotten that of late, And this video was a great reminder of that. So I can't thank you enough.
I really love this video, it was so great to watch the changing landscape. I like how you said "these aren't going to be every mile" but then proceed to check in almost every mile until the camera dies. ;) Anyhow man, thanks for sharing your Hardrock experience, it was fun and beautiful to watch.
Dude! That was a great video one of my favorites. Can't believe you got all that footage and still came in 9th . Respect. Great stuff man and congrats on the PB.
Amazing! Never seen an ultra video like this! Kept an eye on where you were during the race and so thrilled for you. Huge congrats. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
Thanks so much for sharing this experience with us. I know I'll probably never run a race like this (and certainly not with as much speed and grace!) and I really enjoy getting to watch your adventures. Congrats on an amazing race!
I've watched this probably 5 times (over the span of a couple years of course). This is the first time I noticed actual particles of hail hit your arm and stick. What a difference it makes when you turn your settings to 1080p
Very inspiring!! Great video and great race. So happy for you! I will be watching this video for many years to get inspired about trail ultras! Loved you running in with your son at the end! I remember a video you posted sometime after Barclays how you were going to go for it and prove to yourself that you could do this well at Hardrock. Great to see you get it done. Don't stop now it could only be the beginning. I found your channel over a year ago when I was searching for NYC marathon vlogs...little did I know I would still be watching all your vids every time you post and have inspired me to run ultras and trails. My 1st one is in November and I can't wait! Keep rockin man.
Wow. When I saw this video uploaded I was so excited! I can't believe you ran this incredible race, finished NINTH AND shot this video. Congratulations! And thank you!
SO SO SO STOKED! on a serious note... I think you may have contributed to making it even harder for people to get into HR100 in the future due to the amount of people who are going to be inspired/determined to get in! Amazing stuff Jamil. Thank you sir!
This is an amazing video of an herculean athletic accomplishment. I enjoyed your humor, despite what must have been certain pain. Your ability to stay present was extraordinary. Thank you for sharing this experience with the world. May you be richly blessed.
I’m late to the party but wow, this was so much fun to watch. Incredibly beautiful along this trail. I’m getting ready for the Dalat Ultra Trail and this made me more excited for it. Greetings from Vietnam.
Jam Jam! You are a machine! never seen someone so relax at start (with broken water bottle) and comes in TOP 10. congrats and thank you for the epic short movie. pure awesomeness!
Good stuff man. I've been watching your videos every morning for the past few days to help stay focused on my first 100. You give a lot of updates during the run and they're very helpful. It seems everyone hits a "Low" during the race, and one of the biggest keys to success seems to be the ability to recognize that you will feel better if you push through it. Keep up the excellent content!
Second time through this and I feel it's really given me insight on the importance of fuel, walking and slowing down on the down hills. I'm in preparation for a 100 miler in Washington that has 28,000 ft of vert and these are all vital veteran tips for a first timer. I'll most likely watch it prior just to keep this in mind. I have great a pacer and encourager with James Kerby an ultra guru. Thanks Jamil for this and all the other vids!
Great film. Looked like a man with a plan, doing something seriously tough, smashing a top 10 finish and having fun along the way. That's what this sport is about. Congratulations (5 loops in 2018)
awesome film. the mile updates gave us causal viewers a look at what running Hardrock is like . A top ten finish a very good showing to boot. Thanks for the work and planning necessary to pull this off. congrats to you for getting Hardrock and this film done.
I didn't expect this vlog....So many miles captured. Thank you for bringing us along. And congrats on your 9th place finish. That landscape was amazing.
You captured so much of that gorgeous course.........gratitude...........and most importantly..........CONGATS!!!........sweet finish...............thank you!!
Dude, this video is such a BAD IDEA! Now that you made and published it, do you have any idea how many folks will just dream about one single thing : go through that damn lottery. Seriously, your video is *amazing* and so great to give a good feel about what HR is. I'm one week ahead of running my first 100 miles in Colorado (indeed, my first trail race ever outside France) and now I have a good feel about how it can be (well, that won't be HR, but still). I followed this year's HR very closely during 2 days, with a live report on a French runners community site and watching your video afterwards, with a topo map, makes me live this again and put images and what I followed virtually, two weeks ago. I remember following your race as well as your brother's (who did such a crazy finish even passing over our great Caroline). Thanks for putting images on my dreams, thanks for sharing them, thanks for your happyness and smile (including under hail!). I'm discovering a bit late that you were in Chamonix in August 2016, whhile I was running my first UTMB. Sad to discover this now, otherwise, we would definitely have had a great beer. Finally, last note : funnily I watched live arrivals for HR and I remember a funny thing : you arrived with your kid in your arm, then the 10th runner arrived with his 2 kids in his arms....and we were all wondering whether the next one would HAVE to wear THREE kids in his arms....;-) Thanks again for all this. If life ever happens to brings us the same place same time, don't forget to remind me about this beer thing...
You make running a hundred miles with epic conditions look easy, too easy and fun. Glad I found your channel, enjoy your videos and commentary, very helpful for us mid-packer age groupers.
Amazing video! It was good for me to see you hiking and walking. So often, people think you're sprinting your guts out the entire ultra and they would never consider trying it. I think more people will join the sport if they can watch this video. You suffer well, so you made this look much easier than it probably felt. Fantastic race!
Wow, this was so awesome! The scenery was stunning! I got a lot of laughs during the footage of the hail storm (sorry!) But congrats on your 9th place, personal best, finish! Way to go Jamil!
congrats! and thanks so much for bringing us along with your camera. even without a gimbal, you are still capturing awesome stuff. great race and awesome to get a PB.
finishing 9th and making it look like a training run (during the first 50 miles)... Dude, you're gifted! Thanks for the great footage!
Gifted makes it sound like he doesn’t work his A$$ off to be able to do this.
Thanks so much for taking a camera with you and congrats on a solid top 10 finish. Its one thing to hear about the conditions from finishers and another to actually see them! That shit was crazy!
You bet! Thanks for tuning in!
That shit was crazy!
100% agreement on that.
Well done.
So bloody inspiring as I lie here off sick from work and having signed up to only another half marathon distance. Good work

Wow! Thank you so much for this footage and taking us on the way. I appreciate your effort carrying the camera. Cheers from Germany, Sven
I love how "I can't feel my feet" and you do not stop at all. 😂. So awesome
"That's the most beautiful throw spot in the world......sorry Jason" - I laughed and am also sorry Jason.
Best thing ever :D
That's was funny. Too early in the race to be throwing up.
Way too early!
Still laughing...
"Just gotta get the demons out, Bud" made me laugh too
Oh man, thank you so much for sharing this with us, you make this look so casual! Congrats on your personal best, that was solid. Truly inspiring. Have a great recovery!
Sometimes you train your whole life but don’t know what for, this race is one that I will do in the future. Pure amazing UA-cam algorithm

Mate you are the type of people i love to be around with inspirational, love your spirit and videos.
Wow - cannot explain how inspirational you are, esp with the appreciation of the vegan choices at the aid stations :)
18:15 just ran about a marathon up the freaking mountains and he says the hail-storm ist painful :D savage
My favourite was the hail storm scene. Your pain is my entertainment. Like button was pressed
Thanks for taking us along and congrats on your top 10 finish. You rocked it!!

Thank you so much for letting us tag along. That was amazing!
Dude! That was a great video one of my favorites. Can't believe you got all that footage and still came in 9th . Respect. Great stuff man and congrats on the PB.
So awesome! Great running and great job showing us how it looks and feels to be out there.
Awesome footage! Thank you.
I think a blog explaining nutrition, gear, burrito, ext. would be neat.
+Koolaid burrito gives natural gas propulsion...makes you go faster.
Great great film. You’re enthusiasm is infectious & you make me smile 😊 My first 100 next year, South Coast UK. Your film inspires me!
Dude pretty crazy this guy just not giving a shit having fun. No whining it's awesome. I bet a lot of people just suffer through this.
Thanks for sharing! f you're goal is to inspire... You're killing it! Congrats on the top 10 finish.

Thank you for taking us along with you! What an amazing race and a fantastic effort by you! Can't wait to do that course myself some day!
this is what an good inside look means imo; no music, good sight of the area and fun, very good footage, good looking out.

Well done Jam-Jam! What an accomplishment! YOU ROCK!
Your enjoyment of the hail is absolutely hysterical!!!!
Wow, incredible video. Would love to do this one day. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome job, the hail and thunder was epic. that backcountry is amazing. congratulations on the top 10 finish and personal best !!!
This was soo good! One of the best steep life episodes.
Man, that is awesome. Thanks for the look at the course. Congrats on the top 10.
Wow, this was so awesome! The scenery was stunning! I got a lot of laughs during the footage of the hail storm (sorry!) But congrats on your 9th place, personal best, finish! Way to go Jamil!
This was really awesome, thank you very much for sharing!!!
Well done Jamil! Congratulations on a great race and your best HR finish to-date.
congrats! and thanks so much for bringing us along with your camera. even without a gimbal, you are still capturing awesome stuff. great race and awesome to get a PB.
Congrats Jamil! 9th overall, but in reality 8th human. Thanks for the inspirational video.
I guess you're not including Kilian as human? I agree he's a beast.
Yup, Kilian is a Machine, no mere mortal.
Now this is the footage I wanted to see. This was awesome!!
Congratulations with your excellent result and finish. You are a great inspiration to us all.
Congratulations! A great report of the event, frap and for more and better!
Thanks for posting this. I watched it all with a smile on my face.
Well done Jamil, and thanks for sharing the experience with us.
Thanks for sharing the beauty & wonder of the Hardrock course. Love the finish!
The part heading into Ouray was gorgeous
Fantastic. Certainly the only way I'll ever get to see what that course looks like. Loved the hailstorm. Congratulations.
Well done Jam Jam! Congrats on the 9th place. Thanks for the video of the amazing course. Keep rockin' it!
What beautiful country. Awesome video, and congrats on your result!
