I love just plain old grass fed butter. So yummy 😋.
I started 2020 at 263 lbs. I began eating Adkins frozen meals, of all things. But, they did lower my daily carb intake. Then, I discovered Keto and began cooking my own meals and adding in some intermittent fasting. After just a few weeks I was able to stop my BP meds and by the summer of 2020 I had lost 50 lbs. By January 2021 I’d lost another 25 lbs. That’s a total of 75 lbs in a year!

I love that you started with Atkins frozen meals. So many people would turn up their noses. But you started. And it was better than what you were doing before. Anyway, great job on your progression.

One silver lining of the Covid lock downs was being unable to go to restaurants. Having to cook every meal was already healthier than restaurant food even before I went keto and threw out all the sugar, pasta, flour, rice, and cereals in my kitchen. Unbelievable how much canned and bottled food has sugar or soybean or canola oil in it.

    Foods to Break a Fast:
    1. Half an avacado
    2. A serving of either pecans or almonds
    3. A table spoon of virgin olive oil
    4. Two to Three slices of an apple
    5. One serving of bone broth or chicken broth
    6. One egg
After an hour see how you feel. If you eat one of the items enriched with healthy fats (avacado, pecans, almonds, virgin olive oil) to break your fast you probably won't be hungry or as hungry within the hour. Whenever you decide to eat again (after at least an hour after breaking a fast) introduce more food to your system, but not a lot that it shocks your system. Depending on how long you have done a fast (lets say for example 2 days) you need to still take it slow when reintroducing food. Therefore, I wouldn't eat more than 300 calories in your next sitting for this 2-day example. If your doing intermediate fasting (something like fasting for 16hrs and eat in an 8 hr window or fasting for 18 hrs and eating within a 6 hr window, you still want to break a fast with anyone of the examples I listed and I would say it's okay to eat more calories after an hour from breaking your fast in this scenario (instead of 300 calories, eat 500 to 600). What's important is you should eat healthy meals and NO processed foods because you'll most likely lose your progress if you eat processed foods. Processed foods will trigger your hunger hormone and you'll be miserable as you are desperately craving more food yet trying to hold yourself back from eating.

Since 1 year I have religiously done a 16 hour fast. What I've learned?
    1. I've made mistakes cause I've gained weight.
    2. I've broken my fast the wrong way
    3. I have made my body used to the 16 hour fast
    4. I've reduced cholesterol without any medicines
    5. I am failing forward. So I am learning everyday
I have recently discovered Dr Mindy and have the intention to learn and grow.

I lost 10kg and started 3 months ago from before eating 2 healthy meals a day but always snacked in-between and once a week ate chocolate and large bag crisps and obviously would never lose weight. So I strictly followed your 2 day healthy meals for 3 weeks (all vegs fm my garden, pretty much lived on my homemade pesto's for vegs) had a couple of treats in this time, then moved to 1 healthy meal a day and have continue to lose weight like 10kg. So after 3 mths I did the 36 hour fast to see if my body was ready and to see if I would really feel like you are supposed too. And yes my body was ready for it. I never felt hungry and carried on with my normal routine and exercise for 1 hour a day. To anyone out there wanting a healthy body this is truly a awesome way to go. I feel great and so glad to be rid of belly fat. So glad I came across this lovely informative lady. Understanding how your body works is incredible, so thank you.

Down 61 Pounds. age 65 I have dropped from a size 32 to size 24.. Started IF Last july 2020. Doing ketoesque type lo carb diet.As I got proficient at IF I started OMAD.Love it but on its own Started getting stuck. Since following here Have been doing carnivore fast fast mimicking Omad an autophagy fasting mixing it up keeping body guessing so to speak. Last week I included 2 36 hr fasts Started on a Sunday until Tuesday the 36 hr. with IF and omad from Thursday on. Created a bit more stability less fluctuations. Also did a day with mct oil and fat cream in coffee for breakfast and lunch and had a evening meal. I felt fab. This lifestyle allows me to feel free in how I eat I decide based on what my body is saying Plus allows me to be and feel in control something I have rarely if ever experienced with food. Thank you for teaching

Hallo to everyone! I'm on the fifth day of fasting and I lost 3.5 kilos this number you don't get with any healthy diet out there. With the normal diets you lose 1 kilo per week and you have to count everything.. So stressful.. With fasting I'm really focus on other things and not with what I'm going to eat next.. And on my third day helpt me the hack with the avocado and mct oil. I was still on full ketosis I know because I used the sticks.. I'm going to break my fasting tomorrow because is Saturday with bone broth. And continue next week till I lose my 10 kilos.. This is my goal. I very happy because now I found the best way to lose weight plus all benefits that you get from it. Thank you for your wisdom you make our life's so much easier ❤❤❤❤

I want to thank you. I’ve been primarily ketogenic for years now. As I am approaching menopause, I am 51, I found it difficult to keep my weight down even on keto and have been hesitant to do longer than a 16 hour fast. Your words in a few of your videos about how we don’t know how powerful we are really resonated with me. I just completed my first 36 hour fast. I did a 24 hour fast earlier this week I felt great I even did a one hour round of reformer Pilates and felt amazing the whole time. Now I’m breaking my fast with collagen, Kimchi, and then steamed greens. Later, I’ll have some meat after my next Pilates class. I got your book “Fast Like a Girl” it’s a really well written and well researched book. You’re an amazing person. Thank you. I can’t wait to learn how to incorporate some healthy carbohydrates so I can enjoy switching from sugar burning to fat burning. I’ve been afraid to do that because every time I’ve gone off keto I’ve gone on weeks long periods of eating really unhealthy. But with your advice, I think I can restrain myself.

I'm new to this channel and learning so much and have started to make moves towards the fasting lifestyle! I love that on many videos Dr Mindy focuses a lot on quality of food, avoiding toxins, eating clean and organic, etc. And I love her enthusiasm and always wanting to point towards science. I myself am mostly plant based but totally respect everyone's decisions to eat how they want. But I can't get my head around this one thing from this video as well as others I've watched, and the chapter I just finished in "Fast Like a Girl" (which for the most part, has been fantastic so far!). How can anyone recommend that people eat processed meats, ie, bacon, sausage, salami, ham, etc? Processed meats are proven by science to be Group 1 Carcinogens according to WHO?!? It's like telling people to smoke cigarettes to control their appetite. Sure, if you choose ot eat animal products go for grass fed beef, ethically raised chicken, pork, fish, etc, but why suggest sausage and salami, as delicious as they may be? It's the one thing that doesn't jive with everything else this channel teaches, so I had to ask.

I ordered the MCT oil, collagen peptides and coffee, started this today. BTW, the coffee is great. I think I joined the ACADEMY already, but, just in case, I'll try again. Thanks Mindy for all you're doing.

I've tried intermittent fasting and keto about 4 years ago and lost about 30kg over a period of 7 months then unfortunately stopped keto because of travel but kept IF life style so unlike before where I used to gain like 20 kg after losing 15kg only bouncing back up within like 8 months, with IF, I gained 20kg back over four years and this time I kind stayed much healthier overall although I gained 20 out 30 kg.... So, I totally feel that IF is truly the key and I started again 5 days ago and lost 2.5 kg and for the first time I tried 45 hrs of actual fasting only taking enough water and two small black tea after about 19 hrs and I felt so much better than ever. After 45 hrs, I broke my fasting with home made bone Broth then 1 avocado 🥑 followed by green salad then a few chops of faty beef meat.

I started intermittent fasting for weight loss about 3 weeks ago at 61 kg (I'm 160 cm, so kind of a lot for me, and I have very little muscle). The first week I did 16:8, which was ok, and I lost 1 kg. Then I decided to do power week, with 2 days of the week having 24-hour fasts, and I noticed great results of another 2 kg gone. What was surprising is that I actually gained back like 1.5 kg after that while doing a nose dive plan, which included a very short window of 3 hours of eating, with a slow increase further in the week. So my question is, how do I prevent myself from putting the weight back on? At the moment, I decided to go for a 36-hour fast and think of doing that once a week moving forward. Honestly, I did not really follow any particular food plan during my eating window and broke the fast with lots of food, which I know is far from ideal. I just learn today how to come out of the fast, so maybe those tricks will help, but I do love food, love good tasting food, and don't want to deprive myself fully from the pleasure of eating, and sharing a meal with my family.

It’s tough to get a routine going. But once you do. You will have great results.

I started fasting several years ago and it has since help me maintain my weight now. I am soon to be 50 years old in March, got lots of energy still, workout everyday for 40-45 minutes, eat a low carb diet and go to sauna at least 3-4 times a week. My weight before my son 17 years ago was around 96-98 lbs and i am 4’11. Now my weight is 105 lbs. still dreaming of going back to that weight pre child days but i do not want to stress too much on it. I look healtier and happy now, good skin so i can’t ask for more.

I have over 100lbs to loose and I will be using fasting as one of my tools. I just bought your books on Amazon and can't wait to get them. I am a diabetic as well. So I can't wait to see how my numbers change. Thank you for what you are doing. STAY BLESSED!

I break my fast relatively soon after a workout. I do it with a protein shake. So it's a liquid break. I've been using hemp milk instead of dairy milk. 2 cup has 2g protein, 1g carbs, and 8g fat. Throw in 3 whole eggs, that's another 15g fat, as well as 15g protein. Then with 1 scoop of my protein powder, I get another 4g fat and 25g protein, or double scoop for 50g pro and 9g fat. So a total of either 42 0r 67g protein, and 27 or 32g of fat. Then get the heck out of the kitchen and don't come back for a half hour, when I'm more likely to use good judgement about what else to eat in the next hour or two. Egg yolks are an easy way to add fat, and the hemp milk lowers the carb count by 12g and ups the fat by a couple grams. I find the hemp milk is gross on its own, but totally disguised by the protein powder flavor. Hope that is helpful to somebody.

My fav way to break a fast is simply with a salad. I'll add cheese and maybe some bacon and I find it will be enough to get me through till dinner and even at dinner time I may not be all that hungry. I know it's not fancy but it works for me.

Same with me. Salad during lunch after 16-18 hours of fast. I add bacon as protein. Dinner is usually omelette or thinly-slices organic beef with veggies stir-fry or chicken thighs on coconut milk with peppers.

The only oils I use are EVOO cold pressed, avocado, ghee or sweet butter.

I always break a fast with a blender coffee using grass fed butter, collagen peptides and a splash of cream (currently doing ADF). After that I'm not ready for a "meal" for at least 3 hours, usually closer to 4. I did this because it has been my go-to breakfast for about 4 or 5 years, even prior to fasting (I am not a breakfast person, never have been so I guess I had been doing IF without realizing). So happy to discover I was breaking the fast correctly! 😂
