One important thing is to put one early point in cha and use +2 to cha headband with him during level up so you can get selective channel feat as early as possible to make him a better healer than Tristian. The remaining 4 into WIS. Also giving him an early +1 plate armor and a masterwork long-spear from Oleg's makes him an amazing support for your team. He can be doing melee damage from 2nd row, while not getting in the way of your tanks, and most importantly not be in range of attack of opportunities when he casts spells. Anyone who thinks a cleric with 14 STR and 16 CON and 18 WIS as base stats is bad, has no clue how this game works. His 8 DEX is also pretty optimal, since with full-plate armor and 4+ physical perfection belt, he'd hit the armor cap anyway. And you get those pretty darn early. His only thing not optimized with him, is just his domain selections, which while nearly useless, are still a lot better than the absolutely useless Tristian, who not only has a bad domain, but also has the worst stats in the entire game and is the only char in the whole game who can't wear any armor, for some strange spiritual reasons. Unlike what was mentioned in this video, the actual charisma mod to channel positive energy is meaningless, you only need to get 13 CHA one way or another to get Selective Channel Feat, otherwise it makes no difference. Tristian's 16 cha is there only because he was meant to be dualed to sorceress and eventually to Mystic Theurge, otherwise his class and stats make 0 sense. *** SPOILER *** If you solve the Witch's Hut zone correctly, you will receive a headband as a reward, which gives you an insane +2d6 to positive channel skills. You should be around lvl 5-6 at this point.
I play Paladin with Longsword and Shield. I have Valorie in my party so between the two of us we've got tanking covered. I also have Amari in the party as a skirmisher type fighter. With Harrim too we have 4 melee characters which can be very bothersome in tight quarters. I was thinking of giving Harrim some sort of reach melee weapon (due to his Destructive Smite ability) to keep him out of the fray. Have anyone here tried reach on Harrim?
Makes sense that Harrim would be a tanky necrohaler. He's covered in metal do he should be able to take beatings. Necromancy through his fanatic nihilism with Groetus. Healing... well he's a cleric. Maybe designate another healer and have him SMITE all day from behind his big ol shield?
In my opinion, 1 of worst char in this great game. Bad tank (Very low AC, even lower than many melee), bad as damage dealer, bad healer, bad caster... Can't excel at anything. Typical moderate char that can't do well anything. Specially in this game, you have to focus on what is good at due to very limited resources at your disposal(skill points, feats, etc) and this kind of char is just useless. There is no competitive advantage. You can't be good by going from bad to moderate. In best scenario, you will be just moderate and being moderate is simply not enough in this game.
I used Harrim as my main tank on Challenging all the way to the end of the game. There are lots of ways to raise his AC. Even if he doesn't tank, he does fine simply because he's a cleric and his spells are pretty much mandatory for the lategame. I guess you could use Tristian but Harrim is just way more survivable and can actually tank if built that way.
Actually, Harrim is one of the best chars in the game by stats and roughly 10x better than Tristian who is borderline useless. Read my comment in this thread for explanation.
@Vampiresoap Just what is it that you think he sucks at? his stats are optimized as well as they can be, he is the 2nd best pre-made char in the game after that obnoxiously op ranger. It is like a minmaxer made him, unlike the others, that seem to have been rolled by random
@Vampiresoap Maybe you don't read so well? there are only few comments in this video, so I can't understand how you can't find it, but ok I'll paste it here again, from the same thread: One important thing is to put one early point in CHA and use +2 to CHA headband with him during level up so you can get selective channel feat as early as possible to make him a better healer than Tristian. Kinda wish this would show a by lvl guide to picking these things so i could have a better idea how he plays through the lvls

Going to try what you recommended with the spear, thanks for the advice :)
Thank you man! As as noob I really appreciate it!
Thank you for all these excellent guides. Is the one for Tristian planned and if so for when ?
Just a note: you can't use a heavy flail and a shield.
Is this game as good as any reviews i've seen?
Thinking about buying it.

I hated Harrim as healer, but i turned him as necroCleric too and it was not so bad...
But there is more better other chars.
There is more better English somewhere top
It wouldent hurt to dip into paladin levels if you invest so heavily in curving his weakness in cha.
Quick note, the feat steel soul is still bugged and does nothing.
thx for the tips

@Vampiresoap If you mean the ranger? just take a look at his stats and build. If you mean Harrim, just look at my comment in this thread.
