  • The Intex Saltwater System requires periodic maintenance. In this video, we will show you how we performed our saltwater system maintenance and provide a few tips, and opinions.
    There are varying ways that different people do this maintenance. We followed the instruction manual but inserted a few extra steps to be thorough and make sure we were handling things correctly.
    As the we all know in the pool community, the Intex Manual for this Saltwater System can be confusing at times and we have all had to help eachother understand certain steps and processes along the way but that is a good thing. We all stick together and help eachother out. Intex does have a mission to continuously improve their process and process instructions so I am sure one day they will make it easier for us to understand. Until then, keep that salt water system maintained and enjoy your Salt Life in your little mini ocean at home. May all of you have a happy summer!

    Thank you so much for your simply and understanding of the clear saltwater system error code . I had the code Low sensor Flow error and follow your direction and it work. I really appreciated your time for making this great video. Many blessed.

      Hi Danny! Thank you so much and you know there has been times where we manually turn on the salt water system and we may see an error code we just turn it right back off an on again and it goes away. No need for panic. I would suggest do maintenance at least one time during the summer. We are on our 2nd season of this saltwater system and have no problems what so ever! It is so WORRY FREE!!! We love it. Thank you for watching and don't forget we have lots of other pool videos if you ever want to find out more information.

    Thank you guys so much for taking the time to make your videos!! They are so helpful. We, like you, are loving our saltwater system!! So much better than last season where we never seemed to get the water balance right! We have had ours for about 2 months and use it hard!! Every time I test the water, it is within range....unbelievable!! I'm glad you posted this because I was really confused about the electrode self-clean cycle...like does the filter have to be running as well and if you have your filter and chorinator timed to run automatically, how do you set the self clean cycle? It does seem complicated, maybe I will do what you guys do and just clean the electrodes manually. Thank you!!

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  4 роки тому +1

      Yes!!!! Something is not right about those instructions on the self clean cycle. Manual cleaning is quick and easy and you don't have to follow our instructions the manual cleaning instructions were believe it or not, clear! Thank you for your support and kindness. Yes, We are on the same boat, we just can't believe it everyday either that pool life is so much more simplified with a saltwater pool. Loving it also!

    Hey from VB! I’m wondering how often should I clean the chlorinator system. I’ve had mine running for about 4 weeks. I thought that I setup the self cleaning mode but it never seems like it runs that cycle. Got an 18x48 summer waves pool with a sand filter conversion too. Everything is staying clear and working great still. just didn’t see in the manual any recommended schedule for maintenance other then the self clean cycle which doesn’t seem to run

      So funny you should mention that we didn't say that in the video but the same exact thing happened to us we set it up exactly the way the instructions read and it didn't work and a lot of pool people have issues with Intex instructions it can be very confusing to all of us so we were in the same boat as you we've had ours 44 days and did not need to do any maintenance we just wanted to go ahead and do it so that we can educate ourselves and others and get through it and know that we don't have to worry so if you do the visual inspection of the flow sensor and don't see any buildup and you don't see any buildup inside the clear what I would call tunnels then I wouldn't worry about it for now some people have dirty pools and are in the pool on a daily basis and are not as meticulous so they're going to have lots of problems but it sounds like you're in the same boat as us in terms of having a crystal clear good working pool

      @@MoverandShaker great video.
      I been using this system for about 5 years now. And honestly I just turn it on and leave it alone and my water seems fine. But I know I’m not doing something right. Because I feel like it could be a little clearer and when I use my test strips most everything is off. My salt levels are good and my pool is not green so I leave it alone. What would you suggest with fixing the alkaline and etc? Just run the chlorinator and pump longer?
      Or is there more additives I should add?
      From my understanding the salt and chlorinator machine does all that stuff it I’m a wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻

      @@cjbake3238 You should have regular pool test strips on hand amzn.to/3ceYu99 to check all of your levels because you're always supposed to make sure your pool is balanced before you ever even use the boost cycle. If your pool water is not balanced your gonna have to add everything to bring it up to par, then run boost for 24hrs. Once you have it balanced you should be good to go with the exception of Cynauric acid (Stablilizer) when it rains a lot of the sun depletes it. We don't typically have to add much of anything because we made sure it was balanced before season set up. and before running the boost cycle. Whatever your pool test strips say is out of range your going to have to obtain certain products from your pool store or home improvement store to bring them back to normal again.

      @@MoverandShaker thanks for response. I clearly did not educate myself like I should of. I just saw my pool was not turning green so I thought I was good to go just with the chlorinator and salt. Last question do you recommend balancing water before you add salt?
      Also when it comes to metals do you just treat for metals with out testing for metals first as a preventive of complications of having metals? I see these test strips don’t test metals. Wondering if I should get a metals test kit to? Thanks

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому +1

      @@cjbake3238 Yes you always have to make sure your water is balanced before you add salt. As far as testing for metals yes if you have a pool that is metal but in my case this is a vinyl liner. Our pool almost turned green one time and we did a video on it I forgot what we used but it's in that video. The key is to keep the pump and the chlorinator running for the specified time on the chart in the saltwater system book for the temperature and the amount of gallons in
      your pool.. Make sure you're doing some kind of cleaning of your pool every other day and if it rains a lot you're gonna have to boost more anything that you need to purchase shouldn't be too much or for too many times I can't tell you the last time we've had to add anything to our poolWith the exception of the one time where it was starting to turn a little greenish we attacked it right away by vacuuming and I believe adding clarifier but check our video

      I am not sure. I'm not familiar with the all-in-one system. in our videos, we're just referencing the instructions that were provided in our particular manual. I would follow whatever your manual says I don't think most people have the all-in-one system. I didn't even know it existed until you brought it to my attention since yours is an all-in-one more than likely your operating nstructions are going to be different. @MoverandShaker  4 роки тому +1

      @@oscarbenavides8920 Question, how long did you backwash for? I know you should run it 3-5 minutes (not really just until the water is clear) Also, Have you ever removed the skimmer hose where it connects to the outlet inside the pool to make sure it wasn't clogged which could affect the pressure. We have had that happen a few times. We found items that went through the skimmer believe it or not and was stuck inside that area.
      If anything could be considered “normal”, it would be about 10 psi. Most filter systems are designed to operate in the 5-15 or 10-20 psi range. The way to find out your particular correct pool filter pressure is to clean or backwash the filter thoroughly and empty the pump and skimmer baskets and check that area I told you about above. The pressure is never going to be close to 0 again now that it is in use.

      It really is easy when you think about it, your initial boost has to run 8 times the normal operating time for your pool In the beginning and occasionally if it rains a lot or gets dirty and your salt levels fall below the minimum. Other than that you just turn it on everyday after you turn on your pump we run our pump 8 hours A-day in the salt water system 6 hours A-day and since we opened up our pool at the end of April we have not had to add 1 single thing to it!

    Do you have to put chlorine tablets or chemicals? Or does your salt water system do it all?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому

      When you 1st start your saltwater system you will be making sure your water is balanced by using a pool test strip if the water is not balanced you can't start the process of turning it to a salt water pool and you will have to add chemicals for the last time to get everything reading in the o.k. position. Now, if you don't take care of your pool or it rains a lot or it's neglected on a regular basis in terms of maintenance then yes your pool might turn green and you may have to add chemicals to get it back to normal but if you pay close attention to your pool and take care of it then you shouldn't need any chemicals as far as I know and guess what we haven't had to add 1 single thing this season since opening it from the winter.

    Hello, it looks like I have same Intex at home. I have a question. Recently, the Intext electrodes turned covered by salt very soon (2-3 days after last cleaning) and the system shows law salt error code. I cleaned them again and turned on the both machines (Intex and filter), after a few hours (4-5hrs) again same error code and salty electrodes appeared. I measured the salt concentration and it looked OK. Don't you know what can be the reason? The truth is that we had never measured water chemical content before starting the "pool season" after winter in June. Every spring we always change all water in the 9 cubic metres pool (water from a natural well). 2 years ago or so it was enough to clean the electrodes once in 2-3 weeks. The frequency has changed to once per week, even shorter now. I do not understand why the electrodes get salty within a few hours.

      We are baffled. If you have a local pool store take a sample up there so they can analyze it for free. I suspect something is very off with your water. This just doesn't seem right. You need to know what to obtain in order to get your pool balanced out. A good pool store will tell you everything you need how much and in what order to do it and how long in between each step.

      You have to use 95% pure (mined) salt. The higher the purity makes it much less likely to stay in the pool or damage your equipment and to extend your salt cell's lifespan only clean the cells when necessary. If the salt contains minerals it will interfere with chlorine production.
