It can be a lonely and disorienting experience to feel like you're on a different wavelength than those around you. Writers as a whole also struggle with one of the world's most procrastination inducing tasks: Putting words on paper. This video was created during and after I spent two months as a writer in Paris writing an entire book from scratch. Subscribe: bit.ly/ytsubdreams

I am an ENFP who did a degree in philosophy I am a Zen Buddhist/Taoist/Deep Ecologist/Existentialist/Anarchist/etc....Anything other than the prevailing egocentric, materialistic philosophies which numb the mind, break the heart and crush the soul. My day to day philosophy is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. As an ENFP I am constantly frustrated and underwhelmed by the lack of imagination, authenticity and joy of much of society and overwhelmed by the narcissism, materialism and shallowness of most people, especially in the US and Australia where I am a dual citizen. Life without soulfulness and heartfulness is empty and self defeating. "It's not a sign of good health to be well adjusted to a sick society". As an ENFP nearly everything about this society goes against my values, principles and my very soul. It would be a very different world if Intuitives and especially ENFP's rather than Sensates ran the world. Very few Intuitives would be fueling injustice, destroying communities and plundering the environment for profits and power. Being a socially and ecologically conscious ENFP means you're either going to always feel out of place because you refuse to conform to a soulless, selfish society or you're going to go against your soul in order to fit in which can cause serious mental, physical and spiritual health problems. Your choice.....

@@RoastyPotato I totally agree that there are some amazing, meaningful highly worthwhile things out there and that is where I usually focus my energy. But I currently live Frustralia where the mainstream culture and status quo is very toxic to ones authenticity and soul. So I find inspiration in Nature, literature, music, art and Indigenous culture because much of what happens in places like Australia and the US is meaningless, destructive and mind numbing. Disconnection, distraction and division is the norm, especially in the US, and this is really disheartening for ENFP's and most Intuitive types.

As an INTJ I do really enjoy exploring philosophy, particularly stoicism. I find your definition of hedonism to be quite stoic in nature here as you seem to be saying take pleasure in the simple things in life and also very hard work teaches you to enjoy your leisure time more as well...ie maximizing happiness in this manner is the path to a happy life overall. I've found this approach to be extremely valuable in life as a way to guide happiness.

I definitely resonate with your friend in Valencia, when you reach your desired passive income and money is no longer that important then enjoying life becomes the priority (which imo is also the meaning of life)

As an ENFP there's a few philosophers I love. Ursula Le Guin and Erich Fromm would be two big ones. Western reflections of a Daoist mindset, but contextualising and contrasting that mindset with western society. Both emphasise living from the heart, following intuition, and the folly of thinking that life can be fully itemised and rationally solved.

Le Guin is most commonly regarded as an author of course, but I feel its fair to categorise her as a popular philosopher. To my mind the greatest philosophers realise that philosophy must be tempered with art, a spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down (Le Guin, Orwell, Camus..). Otherwise thinkers must use the crutch of appeal to authority, whether that authority be God or Rationality (my position on rationality in philosophy is firmly post-modern for the fellow philosophy geeks out there).

Find I'll bite. Infp self diagnosed.
My philosophy is to find the way through wu Wei. It as the tao te ching implies by lao zi. It is to find thedao through virtues or virtuous philosophy. So it could be an amalgamation of other schools of thought if necessary to achieve my way.

I think a meaningful life is a better goal than happiness. "Happiness" is too inconsist a concept to base your life on...Infj...I prefer Stoicism..Love Ryan Holiday's books and videos for Stoicism
