In this country, it is illegal to destroy a sea turtle nest. It is illegal to even disturb a bald eagle nest whether there are eggs in it or not. Why? You are stopping the potential of life. Yet we have, as a country see no problem terminating the potential to life of a human.

I actually told a female coworker about 2 years ago that a man got jail for making scrambled eggs out of a endangered species turtle's eggs. And she replied, good.. So I said the reason was because he was destroying the potential of life. And I asked.. Why is it that we don't look at abortion in the same way? Isn't that a contradiction in logic and doesn't that show hypocrisy? And she replied that there's already too many humans. I told her that's sad and that those are innocent humans but that at least she was being honest and consistent.

Referring to the preborn child as a zygote, blastocyst, embryo, or fetus at different stages of development does nothing to lessen his or her humanity. Those are just ways of referring to age, no different from the terms infant, toddler, adolescent, or adult.

But even if we imagined a world where no one spared a thought for pre-born humans, your line for "relevance" is arbitrary and could change with the caprices of the society. Why not set it at one year, give new parents a trial period? Or five years, you never know if that new job will work out and you might need to cut costs later. When you stop treating human life as inherently valuable and worth protecting, you lose the moral foundation to object to a wide variety of other evils.

@@rsvp87 some people do that… and they end up finding the child in a shallow grave in a wooded area near their house in a plastic garbage bag or in a dumpster behind the local 7-11.
      That reality does exist.
Maybe if abortion was an option that far more horrific event would not have had to take place. When women are forced to be mothers they could grow to resent the baby they were supposed to have and grow hatred for it.
Who knows what could be. Truth be told if you force women to have babies those sickening trends could become a much more common reality. If coat hanger and vacuum abortions don’t become a common used practice again.

Even worse, it's clouded with dehumanizing euphemisms so it's more insidious.

@@rsvp87 yeah pro-choice people should be more comfortable with saying it like it is. They know what they are doing and why. It is time to be less ashamed and just tell it to you straight so you can’t hide behind guilt.
Lesser of two evils. Again you aren’t exactly saintly by the way you treat these confused and desperate women. You aren’t exactly giving them a reason to believe there is a light at the end of this tunnel for them. All you do is try and install the fear of sin in them. That doesn’t work like you think it does. There is no comfort in that that will make a woman who is on the fence about this to choose life.
Comparing this to other evils too doesn’t hold water. I swear I said soon they are going to compare fetuses to victims of the holocaust on one of these and someone replied “I would too if I believed the Holocaust actually happened.” It was sad to see. You people seem to blurt the line the opposite direction of things and don’t put into account the lives of the women at all here. You don’t care about their feelings and their rationale of why it is a choice… because Abortion isn’t the disease it is a symptom of one. You want to stop abortion? Make like it was when abortion was at all time lows for people world wide. When there was prosperity and hope. All you are doing is frankly offering no hope, no compassion… just straight aggression towards them. “If you can’t afford a baby you shouldn’t have sex.” You blame these women for EVERYTHING.
I know you all laugh at shows like “13 reasons why”. Do you ever sit and think why pro-choice is a choice that some women have to make?

Answer me this. When you kill a woman who is pregnant why are you charged with double homicide if the child in the womb doesn't have rights until it is born?

What the actual F, a 3 year old child can't live without their parents.
Funny how he uses their argument against them , yet they deny it every time

hypocrite: someone who accuses you of playing a semantic game while using as many dehumanizing words as possible to not take responsibility and own the agenda they argue for.

It’s always amazing how I can follow Russell’s logic with no problem but so many of these college students can’t. I think it’s because they’ve never actually had to think about it (or many other issues) in a logical manner.
Like the part where she’s trying to explain why a mother using meth to kill a human fetus should be illegal but abortion shouldn’t…I mean that’s just ridiculous. An 8 year old could the inconsistency in the logic. A college student certainly should be able to, but it conflicts with their political beliefs so they can’t see the obvious logical conundrum. It’s almost unbelievable.

There's a saying: the most dangerous place that human beings will ever be is in their mother's womb (in places where abortion is legal). That's a crazy thought.

I praise you for your patience sir. Truly, we could all learn something from you, especially when we get into conversations with people who want to have a monologue rather a dialogue.
