Since you brought up the newest puppet master: my teacher, Rayce Bird designed the puppets for it. We bought a blu ray just to have him sign it and I've never seen him light up like that.
Actually laughed out loud at "the Necron's restored monolith." Great stuff.
The thing about stop motion I can appreciate is that while you know when you're seeing it it physically has a presence on screen that cg doesnt
Absolutely. Same goes for practical effects like the first The Thing. The actors are reacting to something that's really there, so you (the viewer) sees the object (however it looks) as really there. It all adds to the world being something tangible you can buy into even more so than a movie with actors reacting to something you already know is CG.
It's very creepy and unnatural which works great if you're trying to do creepy and unnatural (ie horror)

I traded texts with Chris Endicott, VFX maestro David Allen's "Number One", around the tail end of June 2020. He is still devoting the majority of his time right now to finishing the VFX for *The Primevals* . Chris said that things were taking "longer than anticipated", but they are still movie forward completing the movie.
There is every indication that we will see it come out in some form in the near future... maybe even a short run in theaters in advance of the BluRay release, so we have that to look forward to as a new in 2020 (or maybe 2021?) Full Moon feature...

Star Fox reference was right on point.
0:58 - DO A BARREL ROLL!
Great video! It's interesting to see just how gorgeous Lisa Rinna was several years before she was introduced to the marvels of modern medicine. New to your channel and loving what I've seen so far.
Oh HELL yes dude! GBF makes Mondays so much better!
I hope this dude does a review of "Deep Rising"
Al Worthington Oliver Harper Retrospectives and Good Bad Flicks are my two favorite UA-cam channels.
@Al Worthington i know, I commented on it myself as I posted some trivia about Harrison Ford originally offered the Finnegan role before Treat Williams got it.
though it would be interesting to see GBF's take on it however
I used to get this and Robot Jox from our local movie rental store before Blockbuster came to our town. It was called King Kong Video. I was young enough and internetless enough that I had no idea how they did the big robots; they looked pretty real to me! Or at least that's how I remember it. I also remember being pretty bored by most of the non-robot parts of the movie haha.
"This makes me miss Zoids"
You and me both brother
Zoids fucking ruled!!!
You had me at Barbara Crampton. She can melt me with those eyes....
From Beyond...man o man.
Excellent Necron reference, you xenos loving heretic!
im gonna exterminatus his ass now
There's only one Necron and that's Necron 99.
Gave a like for that reference alone
Judson Gaiden Hey, man! Give Peace a chance!
How could you not point out that the bad guys were the same 2 actors from Karate Kid 2?
That Warhammer 40k reference! Great Video like always.
The Starfox bit had me chuckling hard
Wall-E!! Wall-E!! Wall-E!!
jeeezzz, I met Barbara at a Monsterpalooza a couple of years ago, got her autograph, and she’s just as beautiful as she was in this film.
your channel makes youtube such a good place and i am always looking forward for a new episode!
weltvonalex. Same hear
@@everfreebrumby8385 "Here"
Watched this with my friends back in the day! The poorer man's "Robot Jox."
Thats some immaculate match coloring from the background to the obvious love interest and not a weird choice at all.
Lol @ the 40k reference!
I love that film, that includes Robot Jox and Crash & Burn.
aw yes Robot Jox
the mechwarrior movie nobody asked for
@@Utubesuxmycock I certainly did :P
Warhammer 40K reference! YES!!
I liked the necrons reference :3
Loved the Krull reference you made earlier as Krull was also a GBF.
Those robot fight scenes could be an insight into what an early 90s live action Transformers would have looked like.
Also, the fashion and sets really look more 80s than 90s. Everything in the 80s had a wall made from small square glass bricks. The clothes are always wierd patchwork with some kind of random colour brush effect
Nothing beats a full moon entertainment movie. Except maybe a GBF full moon review. Thanks Cecil. Welcome back !!
Thanks! Good to be back :)
Glad we got the first good bad flix of the year. I remember watching this when i was like 5 years old in 98 and going through a bunch of full moons films in the early 2000s when i had an unlimited rental pass for hollywood video. Keep up the great work man.
Love the channel its like being back in the video store in the 80's with the added bonus that you have watched all the movies that i could only dream of watching since i was aged 10
thanks buddy.
This channel never disappoints.
I aim to please :)

I saw this as a kid, man the visuals haven't aged as well as my memories of them
You're 100% correct, there is something special about seeing those huge monsters on the screen. If this was done today, it would likely be made with CGI and probably look bad, but the thing is I know CGI can be changed to suit many needs from the Lego movie to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie. Its extremely versatile, but so many times its focused only on photorealism or whatever its called.
Zoids and Necron references, sir you have my respect
Jason Jones Right on.
“Are you tired of this happening EEEEEEV-er-Y-tImE you travel??”
LOL
Wow, this brings back some memories. I watched this over and over back in the day.
Crystal Vista is Taft California. The same little town Robin Williams and Kurt Russell filmed "The Best of Times". Also, that year The Smashing Pumpkins filmed their first music video. "John Dies at the End" was filmed there as well. There were a number of other music videos and B movies filmed in Taft as well.
The driver's "silly headgear" is a Soviet tanker's helmet
ancientsociety79 Thanks- I was gonna point that out! I was never sure if it was the whole helmet, or the liner, though. Can you tell me?
“Leeta runs into a Dutch angle and escapes.” 😂😂
Nice the full moon movies where a rental staple when I was a kid. Bad vibes yo
I saw robot jox on the Sci-fi channel, but I haven't seen this movie. I'll see if it's any good. I always liked stop motion animation in movies.
the star fox kills me lol
Awesome! So glad to finally see ya again! The holidays are nice and all, but...glad they're over!
I remember seeing the end of this movie as a kid and thinking "Holy crap giant robots are awesome".
Thus paving the way for Robotech to blow my mind.
This channel is gold, best watching on my way back from work in the bus 😂😂
it's so refreshing to see positive movie recommendations/reviews on this site keep up the good work m8
Thanks!
Damn. This was my favorite film growing up as a kid. Thanks dude, needed the nostalgia tonight.
Year late, but they remastered it in 2019 (yeah, I know) so nostalgia on! Just finished watching it again. Just as cheesy and awesome as I remembered it!
Wait . . . Was that Sato and Chozen from Karate Kid 2!?!?
Aye laddie.
Thought I was the only one that noticed!
Daniel! Now you come to fight?? COWAAARD!!!
Don't forget Better Off Dead, It's an AWESOME spectacle
Yep, it's a full-on Karate Kid 2 reunion. :) It's doubly hilarious because Danny Kamekona (Sato) was also in Robot Jox. XD
I watched this back in middle school at middle school. We had a awesome school system.
Thanks for the video!! Good to see you after the new year!!
This was one of the first movies I remember watching on VHS back in the day. I remember my dad using the VCR we had at the time to constantly rewind and fast forward the tape, resulting in the sound to change pitch. Pretty much we were watching it as if everyone was running while breathing helium.
Watched several now. Loving the 40k references I keep coming across.
OMFG YES! one of my favorite movies as a kid.
Cecil you get full marks for your references. FOUR POINTS!
Been waiting for new vids man! You still awesome!
I really enjoy your videos, the jokes and refferences... Your sense of humour makes the review better
Feliz año 2019 😀
Now I really want a Zoids movie
I wasn't sure about this one, but then I feel in love when Barbara Crampton showed up.
Warhammer 40K Reference...now i am undying in love with this channel ;)
:)
Right fucking on!
I've never seen this movie, but from what you showed us, the stop motion animation is exceptional. Usually it's very choppy, but it looks like it was quite "smooth" and very well done. I may have to see if I can find this one, just for that alone.
The best part of the week, New video from GBF! Awesome, your channel has turned me on to so so many great movies. My watchlist is full of great films to watch from Full Moon and others. I lived Sorority Babe at the Slimeball Bowlarama and others that you have covered. A heartfelt Thank you. I also love some of the jokes you get in there. I love the Death Metal and Black Metal references you make. The "Bow to Me - Faithfully" is my favorite.
I try to sneak in metal references when I can :)
The tv show?? Lol happy new year man, thank you for all the great entertainment you put out last year, you're one of my top UA-cam movie guys :D
The futuristic headgear looks a lot like what the tankists wore through most of the 20th century.
Finally my favorite reviewer reviews my favorite sci fi b-movie hybrid sequel
Great Starfox reference there!
The karate champ reference made my month.
Awesome! I remember getting this movie as a kid!
I love the show! I hope to see more
Zoids!!!!! Thanx for reminding me of a little piece of my childhood :-)
Luc Besson made a reference to this movie in lockout. I have never see robot wars, but someway i knew his name was Marion haha. Great episode man!
I swear. . . if Crash and Burn is the film I think it is, I rented it around 2000 when I worked in a video store in the box of and under the title of Robot Wars. I don't recall this film at all.
I remember being disappointed that the film I saw barely had the robots at all until the very end in a very brief fight scene, but impressed that film that was there was actually really good, a sort of "Alien without the Alien," people trapped in a confined space (an underground base, I think) and one of them is an evil android but they don't know which. I remember it had Megan Ward, who I started keeping an eye out for after Trancers II.
3:19 Damn it, we’ve been lied to! Akira and Robot Jox promised us Ultimate Telekinesis and Robot Sports! DECEIVERS!!!
Don Michael Paul, dude is so damn good that he has 3 names
Excellent Video as always.
Fun little cheap Sci Fi Movie, love it!
Yep. Some of the shots of the robots in this movie look phenomenal for the budget.
And although the fight is a bit short, I always found it more satisfying than anything in Robot Jox.
Can i just say, love ur channel, this made my day love ur work, keep it up 😁
Thanks!
the tank with 2 barrels looked pretty cool lol,and that scorpion robot,if that was in Mortal engines maybe it wouldn’t of bombed
This movie's ending made me riot. I wanted my time back so I protested against the universe.
6:15 It's the beginning of a 80s 90s Radio Shack commercial
Thank you. I needed this. BADLY. ;) :)
Hell yes! I’m so glad you covered this one, I was going to request it!
You should check out Bad CGI Sharks, it’s supposed to be coming out soon and judging from your reviews of other “terrible” movies that I happen to enjoy as much as you, I think you’ll like it.
Never saw this one, will definitely have to check it out!
The lasertank is awesome. Red Alert vibes
0:59 WOOOOWWWW what a pull.
I love it. Bark at the Moon!
Looks like 2019 is off to a great start!
3:03 Nice to see in the future there are still Mass Effect fans
Wow, I used to watch this movie all the time.
The Stop-Motion by Jim Danforth is amazing !
Happy new year dude!
Definitely the best way to start the year!
Will you ever run out of Full Moon movies to cover? I hope not ;)
Omg thank you for the laughs especially right at the beginning, I actually LOL, good thing I only live with my dogs, cause they already think I'm weird 😂😁
I can tell you were having fun with this
All we need is Gumby and we have a Robot Rumpus.
The Stumperino Stumpalia got me so hard.
Laser last was the very first the film I watched.
Movie gave me flashbacks, I've actually seen this on 93 or 94, meaning movies got to ex-USSR pretty quickly. Also that 40k reference.
(Hmmm... this already somewhat reminds me of that one movie I rented back in the mid 90's and can only vaguely remem-)
"...Some time after Robot Jox..."
(Eyyy! That's the one!)
i get a starship troopers vibe from the cinematography of this film.
Barbara was always a little spunky favourite of mine. She is super nice and pleasant on social media and is good with her fans and dose not "Hide" all the cheaper exploitation stuff she did in the past.
Six String Samurai was also filmed in that same desert.
I could've sworn you called him General Wall-E. Which would be a clever pun for an apocalyptic robot movie.
I wrote this before seeing the Wall-E joke...
That silly head gear is a real soviet tank helmet
