Man Aaron is so passionate and has such a clear vision about what he wants out of these instruments. Will definitely be paying closer attention to his career from now onwards. Really interesting interview!
Aaron is such an inspiration for me. While I love many different genres, his style just speaks to me. I love the focus on melody, the punchy, catchy riffs, and the insanely crisp production. Sometimes I even show his music to non-rock, non-instrumental listening people and even they can always appreciate it. My only complaint is not hearing you two jam together. I get that the heavier stuff is not the Captain’s style, but Aaron definitely could play some bluesy stuff as well. Would have been cool to hear a little back and forth.
I feel like a kid in a candy store for the first time with this video. When I recently saw Intervals live with TesseracT for the first time, I noticed that blue beauty with the insane tuners. Got to meet and chat with Aaron after the show and am fanboying so hard. I am so glad this happened 🤘
You know, I love the Captain in this. He really just seems absolutely enamored with Aaron’s knowledge and his ability to speak to everyone with that knowledge and his experience. Truthfully, a lot of us younger guys don’t get Fenders and Gibsons the way more seasoned guitarists like the Captain do - but Aaron speaks that language perfectly, and there’s a genuine joy emanating from the Captain because of it.
knew about intervals, never heard. but being Canadian, the protest the hero connection is so cool. this dude talks guitar manufacturing banter soooooooo well. imma listen.
Love the new AM model. I hope we keep more of them! Aaron is a killer musician, and a total gear nerd. Schecter knocked it out of the park with his models.
For anyone wondering, if your compound radius is 10 - 14 the radius at the bridge is probably around 16. The compound radius extends and continues past the end of the fretboard all the way to the saddles
Met Aaron when I visited Toronto in 2011 at Steve’s!! Absolute legend!! Let me rip it up on some tasty bits in the shop!! Love Intervals, super unique and Aaron has such amazing phrasing
Lol, can't believe that this interview happened... "Couple of years ago" (2015 I think) this guy played in a small club in Vienna as an opener for the "farewell" tour of the Gallops... Came with a buddy to see the main act, but Invervals killed it! Been a fan ever since.
Many of the very best Schecter guitars are made in Korea at one factory. That factory was at NAMM and are now selling their own brand, Crafter. They are virtually the same guitars with quality parts and wood. Yes and all have stainless steel frets. They will sell for the about one third the price as without Schecter they have removed the middle man. A Strat with better than American specs and at minimum the same quality of fit, finish and build is about $350.00 USD.
Aaron is incredible across the board. Incredibly nice guy [met and got to chat a long time with him in Hong Kong], incredibly well-spoken and a fantastic player/composer. Zero rockstar ego. So great to have found him early and watched him blossom into one of those players who I consider the prototype modern guitarist. Suuuure - guitar is dead. ROFLMAO...
LOVE Intervals, since the In Time days! Hipshot or Schecter- PLEASE release those tuner buttons for individual sale I've been itching for something bigger than the industrial button that has a cylindrical shape thx
Aaron is a great spokesman. I really believe that his signature guitar is different and not just a marketing tactic. Great tuners, neck, pickups. Quality and simplicity, I am going to give it an audition.
Incredible interview. Nice to hear about his creative process and how he prioritizes the construction of his guitars. Does anybody know what that blue burst Fender looking guitar is hung up in the background ? love that finish
Interesting interview. Aaron really seems to know his stuff and Schecter sounds like a great company to work with, not a huge amount of artists that get both production & custom shop versions of their signature instruments. I'm usually not a huge fan of Aaron's tone tbh, that clear & crunchy sound definitely suits his playing style and his music but it's not the kind of tone I like to use myself; just a personal preference, I like that angrier spanky tone that John Browne and Rabea utilise. So I was thinking that these Schecter Solstice & Equinox pickups were not really my kinda vibe. But through that Victory amp they sound amazing. Brings out that percussive hit that I love, especially on that inner coils position. I suppose it just shows how much effect the amp & cab can make. Those pickups are clearly great at bringing out the clarity and have a nice push to them...nice to know they are versatile enough to get Aaron's smooth crunch as well as more aggressive spiky tones. Great that the pickups will be available separately too, I was wondering why they weren't listed separately on the Schecter website when there is clearly going to be some demand for them. Although it's a shame that Schecter pickups are quite expensive to get in the UK. I just ordered John Browne's Colossus bridge pickup for my Schecter Reaper-6, costs £225 (that's $280) and has a 3-4 month lead time. Even Bare Knuckles are cheaper but I went ahead anyway as the dealer I asked put a lot of effort into finding out how to order them from the custom shop, and I want to get some of Schecter's Dark Side single coils in the future anyway so was good to confirm the dealer can get them. And of course it's nice to support the artist too (well...I hope John gets a cut from signature pickup sales as well as the guitars). The USA 7 string looks really cool in that colour. I like fancy wood tops but the right solid colour can look really smart. And it's cool that Aaron's got his process of starting simple and experimenting with more things along the way. Would've been nice to keep the circle inlays on the USA models though, they look really smart. Interesting to hear that a hardtail version of the 6 string is likely to come (assuming that would be both import & USA). Would be cool if they could apply the same thinking to the 7 string and release those with the Gotoh trem. There really aren't that many production 7 strings with a vintage type trem available...I've tried one so far (Ibanez AZ24047) and have another one coming soon (Legator Opus OT7T) but would be awesome to see some more choices on the market.
That would look a beast in matt black with black neck (they may already have done this) I have a feeling the new black as @@@@ Ibanez will be a massive hit.
He looks like he's about to mow the lawn with those shoes on haha. Really though, I didn't know anything about Aaron before and I'm a big fan now, just like that.
Love how much attention he pays to things. It's reassuring that touring guitarists also struggle with their settings. Especially relate about the Dual Rectifier--so flubby and loose.
Great interview. Just as an aside, wasnt it the famous 'Mis Sigs' 5150 on Controller? Not a Mesa... Probably wrong, Aarons literally toured with them 😂
Did he say his import model is a scarf joint and the UsA model is not? Sorry picky question but I couldn’t tell what he meant by that…hoping someone else caught it
There is no scarf joint on either. The import modle has a volute (not sure if that's how you spell that) and the USA model is one solid piece of quarter sawn maple.
I never realised that Clapton used a block of wood to block the trem. I just figured it out myself as the cheapest way to block my Floyd in the mid 90s. 😃
Been waiting to hear more details on the Aaron Marshall Custom Shop guitars...they look beautiful! I love the roasted maple neck and those tuners are SWEET! I have some Hipshot tuners on one of my guitars with round, knurled barrel keys, but these larger heads are awesome looking and very functional. I am guessing in the $2500-$2600 for both guitars? I have an Arctic Jade AM-6, but maybe I will need to sell it and get one of the USA models!
I think you missed exactly what he said, he said the biggest component on your GUITAR is the pickups and he's 100% correct as the speaker/mic is NOT on your guitar but on your amp and they weren't talking about amps at the time!!
@@srh361 And I qoute "it's the pickup that's on your guitar is probably the single most important element to your tone" followed by him trying to correct the sentence because the conversation was referring to tone while playing. Absolutely nobody ever refers to tone outside of a full signal chain because it's irrelevant outside of that fact. This video started out with my favorite Intervals riff, excited to watch the whole video!
that riff alone was what got me into intervals at first. love their music

Misery Signals "Controller" was in fact recorded by Heavy Devvy 🫶 EPIC album
