It's sad that this is being pushed onto children. It's like the Ritalin and Adderall epidemic of the 2000s. Basically, any kid who had the slightest signs of ADD/ADHD was immediately recommended for those drugs, even though they didn't really need it. I was put on Adderall when I was 13 because I didn't do well in English in sixth grade. Never mind the fact that I excelled in math, science, history, and music. I was going through a lot at the time, including getting bullied and struggling to cope with alcoholic parents, which made it hard for me to focus on a subject I found boring and stressful. I had become a zombie on that drug. I had no energy, no will to engage with others, and was starving because it messes with your stomach. I got fed up and at 15 decided to stop taking it, and guess what? I grew out of my lack of interest in English because the books we read were more interesting and historically and culturally important. Sure I spent two years having no personality, and lost 40 lbs because I couldn't eat without feeling sick, but hey, at least doctors and pharmacies were making bank, which is exactly the case of puberty blockers. Just like Adderall, they mess you up, change you mentally and physically, and they are being prescribed left and right because they make money. Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
I have a cousin who use to identify as a boy when she was a child, this was due to her peers and her dad dressing her in boys clothes (to make her a son he never had). We would always affirm she is a girl and celebrate her femininity whenever she wore feminine clothing. Now she is older she is so happy in herself as a young lady, we talk about her period as identifying as a boy and she said she only wanted to be a boy because her cousin brothers would play football cards and tell her ‘only boys allowed’. She would play with the boys. We look back and laugh about it. Now we worry what would have been, if she didn’t receive the support from school and family celebrating her born gender, and encouraged to take puberty blockers, she may have been sad and depressed not being congruent to the reality of who she truly is.

Puberty blockers can have possiblities of being dangerous but the majority of people with gender dysphoria have depression or anxiety and puberty blockers can really help I mean what would you rather a child with the possibility of getting some illness or a dead/ suicidal person
Elvan Scarlett fun fact, recent studies show that hormone blockers are not as dangerous as endocrinologists previously thought. The only risk is a very low possibility of osteoporosis which can be treated.
its really damaged that the only thing you guys say is “an alive trans kid or dead one”. They need therapy’s that will help them be comfortable who they already are. They dont need to be told that they are in the wrong body because that will only affect them more.
He really brought religion into this he has no idea how it feels like to have gender disphoria and he's using religion to say that trans people shouldn't be allowed to become the person they want to be
Agree re the religion ref. However I translated that as he is not denying that there are gender atypical children, he is simply advocating that these children be supported in accepting that they are gender atypical with medical intervention. Plenty of us quite happily live a gender non conforming life, and a large part of that is due to the environment we live in and how we were raised, which plays a huge role in how we feel about it. What people do as adults, is a very different matter. Children need time to fully grow and develop.
And people with gender dysphoria have no idea what it’s like to actually be the other gender. Just identity confusion and that’s talked about in religion
As a Canadian, I have never been discriminated against because of something written on my birth certificate, in fact it is very rare that we ever have to show it, mine is an original and my children have dual nationality and theirs actually has a picture of them as a baby, so stupid. Now putting your gender on a job application could be a problem and that could be a place it should be banned.
Puberty blockers are absolutely not hormones, not synthetic hormones not anything like hormones. If that's what he believes then maybe he should actually read up on the subject before presenting himself as an expert. They have, in fact, been extensively used for decades for children who faced (what was termed) precocious puberty to delay the onset of pubertal changes (and continue to be prescribed for that without any of the concerns he mentions).
@kabardinka1 - they were used on very young children - those who go into puberty way too early- and for a short period of time, mainly until 10 or 11. Now, they are using them on older kids, starting at 10-12 and ending in late teens. Which means that during that time, the bones aren't going to be developing normally among other things.
