Best tutorials out there, good value and great tutoring materials, perhaps even better than 1v1 on-site coaching. Great stuff, looking forward to seeing more of more advanced stuff like tacking, etc.. Cheers.

Thanks Michael. I am working on tacking content - though 1:1 coaching for tacking is the easiest way at the moment as there are so many small tweaks that often need to be made to fix tacking issues. Actually, I've taught a lot of people to tack using my Virtual Coaching service, that works really well as we can compare footage of you making the mistakes against shots of me doing it correctly, then you can see those small mistakes and fix them! Give me a shout if you want to give it ago

The day after watching this video I did my first weak-side toe-to-heel carves, strong-side downloop carve, and some foiling foot changes, all in a 90-minute session! I then bought the Progression package, which are excellent. Planning to re-watch.
I'm still having trouble getting a consistently powered-up carve, is that because of lighter wind, or I'm still missing something?
Thanks for the excellent instruction, very empowering to make so much Progress in one session, and now I can't wait for your tack series!

So glad the videos have helped. Regarding getting consistent power through the carve - yes, if you are riding in lighter winds then it is more tricky and will take more experience and practice to get the kite in just the right place throughout. Your style of kite may have some impact too. On the whole just remember to be slow and gentle as you sent the kite up to 12 and the in lighter winds you have to be really aggressive, send the kite down deep into the powerzone to get it moving again and give you power on the exit. Personal in lighter winds I stick with downloops as its easier to keep the kite moving through out - that videos is coming soon :-D

@@progressionsports Thanks for the tips, now you say that I recall everything being easier in stronger wind.
Do you have a video on the looping waterstart? I've heard it's useful in light winds, but I find a broad U-shape dive to have more power.
Also, are you sure the board is pointing downwind as the kite is overhead? Wouldn't the kite pass over head a few moments prior, since it's dragging you?

@@abraxaf I'll add the looping waterstart to the list and see about making a video about it at some point. Definitely a good lightwind technique and being a heavier guy, something I use a lot.
Regarding the carve and kite position mid-turn. When first learning it's easier to bring the kite up high and then drop it down into the powerzone in the second half of the turn - in this way you want the kite mid window as you are mid carve and you are getting pull from it rising upwards. Then it means it is easier to drop it deep into the powerzone for power in the second half. If it gets in front of you then it will take a more aggressive kite movement to drop it deep. As you get more experienced and with smaller kites, you can drive the kite through the powerzone, rather than sending it up high and then dropping it down, and in that version the kite can be slightly head of you pulling your through the turn but you then need to cant the board and foil to control the lower power from the kite.

@@progressionsports Most of the wind here is sub-12 knots. Good to know it can be lower in the window with stronger wind and smaller kites, will try next time. Thanks!

Down loop is scary at first but once you do, it’s way easier. Just ride down wind, takes the teeth out of the loop.
