I'm watching the auto captioning (I have hearing difficulty) and every time he says meeples it interprets it as meatballs and the further the video goes the more I'm dying laughing!
It's weird, despite the fact that i know Pep's name and that he has been in a whole host of videos at this point I still expect him to open with "Hello and welcome to Watch It Played my name is *Rodney Smith* and..." It jars me every time lol. Great video!
Used to teaching games but had someone ask to play it before I had a chance to pull out the rule book. So instead of plowing through the rules for the first time - I searched watch it played and BOOM! Pep to the rescue! Learned the game and was able to use the rule book as a reference. annnnd I lost.
On my rulebook, printed in 2014, there are 2 differences from the video: 1. To flee, you pay 3 food per meeple (page 9) 2. Tie-breakers are: highest on tower card, most meeples in play, highest magic level, most resources (Scoring, page 7)
So at 5:36 you couldn't move like this? Since you are crossing a crag? Figure this can't be right since in this situation everyone would be cut off from everyone else.
When moving from one card to another, you don't need to worry about placement of the cards. You simply move from an edge region on one to the edge region of another. It can be on any side. So in the example shown, we ignore the crag because we're approaching from the bottom.
I just played my first game of tiny epic kingdoms and a few questions have arose that we could not solve... 1st.. when the active player chooses wether patrol or quest if a battle is the outcome of that action.. how do we resolve this... i mean do we all make patrol or quest and then resolve batlles that may have originated from patroling or questing or do we go from player to player resolving the action and battle ... and if so can a player move its meeple to a region of other player that will originate other batlle (paying its cost) or the meeple is removed from the map if there were no free avaliable spaces to run to? 2nd concerns the aftermath of a battle... if a battle has a cost prior to the battle... can a player bet higher than the cost of the battle . Case and point. I was play with the halflings . I had the power that in case of me showing of my flag and my adversary was ensuing war on me he had to pay 2 extra resources... if he had spent all of its resources in battle how could he pay those 2 extra resources?
Hi Bruno, I do my very best to answer questions on all videos I make, but this was shot long enough ago (and I wasn't the host on it), that I'm not sure of the answers at this point. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
When to collect resources? When your opponent goes to patrol you choose to take the patrol action or you can collect resources for each location you're in? Or is it like the build action and you can only get ore or build as the non-active player?
Hey Stacie, I avoid giving recommendations, as I can't be sure what games another person may or may not like - so rather than review, I create tutorials to help people learn how to play once they have their copy, or if they are considering the game, the video can help them see if it might appeal to their particular tastes.
+benette johnson The second edition has a scheduled release date of April 1st. It has recently been reprinted, along with an expansion (Heroes' Call) which introduces faction heroes, new region types, a new type of resource, and more faction options for your enjoyment.
Haven't played it yet, but how do you move to an adjacent card(territory)if it's blocked on the edge by river or krag? You said 'as before you cannot move move across River or Krag' , but what if your opponents territories have krag and River blocking? How do you ever get to their territory? You seem to contradict your own telling of the rule when moving your meeple to adjacent territory using the Quest action. Again, never played, but interested in maybe buying the game in the future.
Hey Kinn, I usually try to answer all rules questions, but since this one was hosted by Pep, and he's no longer with the show, and the video is quite old, I don't know the answer, I'm afraid!
If a player has triggered the end game by selecting the last action on the action card, will the game end immediately after the next player clears the action board, OR they get to play another set of actions? In the rulebook, it says that "play continues until the next time the action card is cleared.." which leads me to believe that there is another set of actions which follows after the end game has been triggered. Thoughts?
Great question! Because the board is cleared during the next player's turn (after the end game trigger has already happened), the game would definitely end at that point!
+FalconAshe K Cosmetic changes: -The ore and book tokens were redesigned -The banners of the base game faction cards and territories now have a red edge to them -The resource cost for tower and magic levels are now indicated by the number of symbols instead of a digit. -The cards now have rounded corners. -The exploration tokens are now included in the game. Rules changes/clarifications: Retreating after wars was added. -War Power and War Total are now referred to as War Cost. -The 2-player game has been improved. In the first edition, when moving into a region with a neutral meeple, the other player would be involve in the war, fighting for the neutral player and spending their resources in an effort to try to prevent the challanging play from gain control of the region.
A player may only quest to and from a region that borders the edge of a territory card. You're basically going from one region that is right on the edge of the card, to another region on the other card that is also, right on the edge. So you won't be passing over anything. Does that make sense?
@@WatchItPlayed it does, but in the example at 5:38 i kinda confuses me that the one in the card in the middle it looks like you cannot quest to the right or left because of the craig on the right and the water of the left.
@@Charlescy5 Yeah, if I could have changed something there, I would have had Pep move his hand so it didn't appear to cross over the crag". He's actually moving from one edge space to another edge space - not moving across that crag in that direction specifically.
Hey there, we don't generally cover the expansions or other variants in the game, but hopefully with a good understanding of the base game, the mini expansion shouldn't be too tricky to figure out. Cheers!
@@UNKLEnic Ah, understood. Many board games have funny little rules for how to pick the first player, like this one does: "The first player is the person who has most recently swung a sword.", but you don't have to treat that like a real rule. You can just pick someone randomly to go first.

+Joost Nauw The rules changes are listed in the description of the video. There are also some minor cosmetic differences, I believe.

Oh good! (For the meeples, not for me, because I like eating meeples >:D)

What's different in heroes call and what new skills, races etc. Are there.

Good game explanation. It was a bit distracting that he kept saying "re-zor-sis" in stead of "re-source-s"
Both of us used to do it. Not sure if it's a local thing, but it's something we caught pretty quick.
This has nothing to do with the great tutorial, but why is the starting token so frigging big?

What does it mean to "first to swing a sword?"
