I have a quite a few, but I've often picked them up more out of an interest to have the option. With my current shooting schedule I don't get them played as often as I might like. I've probably played Twilight Struggle the most.
Wow, these rules are dense. Masterfully explained. I think these Tiny Epic designers are in a continuous challenge with each other to create the most complex games with the fewest components. They are certainly winning if that is their goal. But as usual, Rodney emphasizes the fun of playing rather than the complexity.

Anyway, nice video, and just to ask, where do you store all of those tiny epic games, since they look too small to fit on that bookshelf, compared to the size of the other games on that shelf in your videos? Do you have a small bookshelf for them, and is that one full yet? (I wouldn't be surprised if it was, considering that you could also bring the tiny epic games with you in a bag if you wanted to play something while traveling.)
Hi Rodney! @18:30 you said that the player who wins the battle and advances his/her legend level doesn't get any coins...does that include the immediate bonus coins on the legend track or were you implying that since there are no cards (showing any coins) the winner doesn't get any coins?
This was said in contrast to what happens when you attack a Merchant: ua-cam.com/video/eMYCo9tS4ws/v-deo.html. When you attack another payer, there isn't a certain amount of gold that you take from them (but yes, you'd still gain gold related to advancing on the Legend track, if it provides any).
7:00 Sorry, I didn't catch the answer to this in the video: what if you do accidentally miscount the number of spaces on the wheel and you would land on the space you started on? Do you just go to the next one?
Quick question, just cause the rules aren’t super clear, and I don’t think you went over it, but if a deckhand is on rigging, could you reassign him to cannons if you know your gunna get into a fight? Or can you only reassign them after you pass or land on the from the wheel?
I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you asking if you can just decide, anytime you want, to move pieces around on your player board - no, you have to follow the rules are provided in the video for what allows you to move pieces and when.
@@WatchItPlayed not exactly, I’m asking if you can assign one of your deckhands to another assignment, for example moving one in rigging, to cannons or visa versa, or can you only move deckhands on assignments up to the wheel?
@@Codeman480 It's been a little while since I shot this, but if you watched the video and I show no options to move them between assignments, then that would mean you can't.
Sorry, it's been a little while since I shot this, but I don't remember which tray I used. Can you post a time stamp to where it appears in the video and I'll check?
Great explanation! :D Just a question... in Pirate to Pirate combat, is there an order to spend Sure-Fire tokens? Must they be spent immediately after the attacker roll, before they see the defender roll? Or can they be spent later on, freely by both sides, to modify the outcome on the fly as needed?
Wonderful video, I played the game last night and I have a doubt... Can I do a search action in a map card without any search token (nothing happens, I know) but still trigger my bonus actions related to search?
Sorry Marco, it looks like I didn't answer this question! This from the rules should help: "You may trigger Bonus Actions even if you did not execute the Captain’s Order, as long as your Captain is on the Order. For example, a Plunder Order where you did not actually Plunder. • Bonus Actions, like Captain’s Orders, are optional and do not have to be performed."
If you move into the same tile/location as the Navy ship does it automatically attack you? Or does this only happen when you cross over the ship line on the captain’s wheel?
Hey Rodney, will you be adding time-stamps in the video bar! Great for when I'm just wanting to check a specific rule after I've watched the video, thanks!
Hey Rodney, Mat from France here. Thanks for this great video, well explained and detailled. One question though about the rules to place the captain and the deckhands. When reading the rules, I understand that you must move the captain first and then move the deckhands. This would mean that for the first turn of the game, you don't have the choice but to place your captain on the first action. But when I watch your video, it seems that it's possible to move the deckhands before moving the captain... Which one is correct ? The translation of the rules in french might not be accurate... Thks ! Have fun :)
I shot this long enough ago that I might need a few more details, can you time stamp to the section or the video that you are referring to, so I can be sure we are seeing and understanding the same thing (and yes, this is based on the English rules, and consultation with the publisher to ensure that what we are showing here is correct - doesn't mean mistakes can't get overlooked, but you can have a high degree of confidence, assuming you are interpreting the examples I am giving correctly).
@@WatchItPlayed Hey, thanks for your answer. I'm refering to the chapter "Step One" at 5:01 in the Tiny Epic Pirates video. In the French rulesbook, this is at page 7 : "1A. Move your Captain" ; then "1B. Move your deskhands"... Hope my english is good enough so that you can understand what I mean....! Thanks Mat
@@Elsazaz31I can't really address the French rule book (I don't speak French well enough), but I can say that the way it is described here is correct based on the English rule book and the publisher reviewing the video before it was released. The English rule book also has the same Step 1A and 1B, but as a part of 1A it describes how you can place your deckhands from the bottom of your board, to the wheel in order to allow you to advance further with your captain. 1B then describes what happens if you advance "over" a deckhand you had placed "on a previous round". So those are two different things. In 1B it is describing how skipping over a deckhand in 1A causes it to go back to the bottom of the board in 1B. But again, I really can't get into translation changes, that's more than I can manage across all the videos I do. I am as confident in the video as I can be.
I need help if you can. The captains has the search trigger, ok, but if i have a crewmate with attack trigger how can i trigger the crewmate if i must execute captains bonus before all others bonus?
You always handle the captain bonus first, but if it does not apply, that just means it is skipped. So you do your action (for example combat) check the captain card (not triggered for a combat action) ignore it and move on to your crew. However, if you do the search action, you should always do the captain card first. That means you cannot take extra actions with your crew to gain more gold and then use your captain bonus to burry it, because that action always triggers first. Does that answer your question?
@@zhetarho oh yeah, thanks a lot! So i can ignore captain if i’ve ordered an attack. This is really nice. Because you are very kind i have 2 more question that i can’t figure out IF U CAN: 1) if i can move up to 3 space, can i perform an attack in the first move and another attack in sequence to other space because i can move up to 3, or simply do the action and the move up to 3? 2) For hideout, can i move the captain to the anchor order and then move to the hideout or i must be on hideout and the do the order so i can move the boat in the hodeout on the same card? Thanks you so much and sorry, english is not my first lang
@@Cthulhu91 the sail step always goes before the action step, so you have to sail first and execute actions (like attacking or burrying treasure) after. I do believe there is a crew card with a sail bonus that allows you to sail a step in between your actions, but that is a very specific card. Normally you won't be able to sail in between your actions
@@Cthulhu91 which, by the way, means that if you sail to an anchor symbol on the same turn you do the hideout action, you can hideout at that spot. As long as you end on that spot you can park there : )
@@zhetarho Ahh!! So i don’t need to move captain meeple on the anchor order to hideout, but if i am on a card with anchor because i did a plunder for example i can hideout for free in the same turn?

You can only have as many as the spaces on your mat (3), but you can spend all 3 on a single roll if you want.
GREAT VIDEO!!
Thank you Caleb!
Can players "mutiny" a second time to switch back to their original captain? I didn't see this addressed in the rules, but I may have overlooked it.
No, each player can only mutiny once per game. You can't go back to the original captain.
I forget exactly where I say it in the video, but when discussing mutiny, I believe I phrase it "once per game".
It's definitely not tiny, but your wall is still epic, yah hah hah.
:)
I'm the first person to laugh at "Booty cubes" right? ha ha I thought so.
The first and only, I'm sure!
Sure sounds a lot like Black Fleet?
They do both have pirates!
Because you are very kind i have 2 more question that i can’t figure out IF U CAN:
1) if i can move up to 3 space, can i perform an attack in the first move and another attack in sequence to other space because i can move up to 3, or simply do the action and the move up to 3?

Ok Rondey confess how many times you flip the games because you are not even looking at them. 🤔😄
