It's always fun to get kids to recognize the difference between new and old money in the real world and how on point F. Scott Fitzgerald was (and still is) with his assessment.

I love fashion but tend to stick with classical pieces that coordinate with other pieces easily. No crazy loud garish patterns... just nice figure flattering cuts.
"The tip to dressing rich without being rich is to be rich." Gwenyth Paltrow's outfit was, give or take, $6000. 10% of that, which would be the cost of the outfit that MatPat gave us, would still be $600. That's two months worth of groceries for the average American home. ETA: I understand the point behind making that comment. This is no hate to MatPat; I just think it is important to keep that in mind when watching this.
Ah, but you went for minimalist quality instead of trendiness. So that $600 outfit might last you 10 years. Buy 5 and you can dress like that for the entire workweek. $3000 over 10 years is less than a dollar a day, the same as 2 WoW subscriptions or 1.5 subs to photoshop, to dress classy like you're from old money, with all of the associated social perks.
@dragonboyjgh , so you suggest taking out a $3k personal loan for 5 outfits that you plan on wearing for 10 years? Cute but I'll prioritize my other bills first. Thanks.
@@barmayden2300 if you're living paycheck to paycheck, then yeah, obviously yes you should pay off your bills first, this isn't available as an option in those circumstances. But my point is that $3000 isn't an impossible amount of money either. If you're not living at literal poverty level, it's something that can be saved up for, like a used car. And looking like you belong to a higher class than you do can open doors. Doors to better income. Nor do you even need to purchase all 5 at once to see results. If you know when most of your opportunities for impressing and schmoozing will be happening, you can just buy the 1 set for $600, then get around to filling out the wardrobe once you've started to see returns on your investment. And if you can't save just $50 a month for a year for the purpose of improving your situation, then you've either taken on way too much responsibility for yourself, or need to reconsider your lifestyle, either at the occupational or expense side.
This one was fun and entertaining to watch …. Now do one with a theory of percentage of the elites how many sacrifices they make compare to your normal average person

I’ma just put this in there because I don’t know what to say for the UA-cam algorithm and I appreciate your contact my guy keep it going. 💙
Only Matt Pat can flex being rich and then shamelessly ask for subscribers 2 minutes later
Great video! Ive heard about quiet luxury, but the breakdown was fascinating to learn.
I’ve been really enjoying Style Theory! It’s my fav out of all the channels. Can’t wait for that sun cream episode.
Are we going to acknowledge the fact that he’s net worth is over 11.1M?
He just admitted he is one of the New Money Millionaires 2:30
I mean his estimated net worth has been public knowledge for a few years now. If you have over 10 million subscribers on just one channel, you're going to be at least a millionaire unless you drastically mess up your monetization schemes.
Film and Game theory are pretty big and famous channels
It’s way over according to google his net worth is 25million usd
I want to see the middle of this battle the aging money
Style theory idea: how to find expensive and high quality clothes at goodwill: know the different types of fabrics by the touch…looking at brands…etc
It would be so cool if you could do a game theory on the VR games Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator! The basic outline of the game is that you’re the only human left alive and a bunch of these robots are showing you how ancient humans used to function. Anyway, it would be so cool if you could do a theory explaining how humans went extinct. But there is this one moment where they mention a “human uprising” which makes me think that maybe we aren’t extinct? I don’t know what I think, but it would be so cool to see you guys do a video!
Meanwhile me with fashion, looking at that Billy Eilish costume: ...Billy, you paid for that? I think I'd need to be paid TO wear that...
Loved this episode!! I could literally watch a whole documentary on this subject!
when we eat the rich, I will spare you mat
when it suddenly hits you that your childhood youtuber is at the top 1% of wealth
Hey MatPat!! I love the content you all produce! It’s AWSOME!❤❤❤😊
The book series, 'Crazy Rich Asians' by Kevin Kwan goes into this in *EXTREME* detail
Lol I remember being out with my mates and one of them worked in high street fashion. He was going round guessing the price of the group's fit while on the pull. Was doing well till he got to me and said £250, he was out by 200.
If someone is interested in this topic, Mina Le did an episode about this that was fantastic. Goes way more into depth.
Got not that much of money, so not so fond of pricey cloth. But still my Mom sometimes said that buying a bit expensive thing as long as if it will last forever is not a bad investment. Now I got it.
Theory idea! What is the best looking and most useful outfit for any apocalypse?
When style theory first released i thought it would be just full of garbage theorys but after watching 5 episodes ive grown to love it
Why on Earth would you think Matt would ever make theories that were garbage?!
[willfully blocking out all the film theory-predictions that Matt got completely wrong]
indeed@@nomoresaul
film theory idea: how long would the the bad guys ACTUALLY be in jail/what are the fines they would have to pay or any other punishment they'd have to endure?
MatPat using this Channel for Tax Evasion

I’ve been watching ur vids for over 3 years, but I’ve been waiting for one thing for the past 2, a super animal royale theory vid. It has way more LORE that it sounds
I kinda wanna see Matt take on the Dark Academia aesthetic outfits, similar like this.
1:30 I saw the zero and thought I had become the 1% suddenly
I want a theory based on pedicures if the more expensive bundle is worth it or if the $20 basic bundle is the way to go
This video is very similar to another video from "Real Men Real Style", yet I like how each you tackled the same topic from different angles and points of view. I'd love to see a collaboration between the two of you some day. Maybe even "The Gentleman's Gazette"
I learned most of this information in my 20s working at the airport interacting with customers. You'd be so surprised whose HIGHLY successful walking around in some basic Levi jeans.
This is now officially my favourite channel ❤
Vids are amazing as always!
Fire theories never stop.
HELLO INTERNET WELCOME TO FLAME THEYORY
I love all of Matt’s theory’s it’s helped me so muchhhh
That Gucci purse @ 7:00 is only 336.84? That’s mind blowing to me since I’ve gotten my wife a Michael Kors purse that was simple for 400. Having even gone to the Gucci store all the bags I saw there were around 5-600
Its always a fun surprise when you come into a theory video onlynto realize you already know the gist of it.
The old money vs new money thing was something I had looked into for writing purposes some years ago.
7:30 best part is you can find basically the same looking clothes for 10% of the price
Well it's not about the price you see😅
MATPAT MATPAT! Could you maybe do a theory on Mewing?!!
matpat can you do a theory on how clothing sizes have gotten bigger but have stayed the same label. in middle school i was a medium in almost everything sometimes a small or even an xs in some brands but an xs would be a tight fit. now as a freshman in college some smalls or xsmalls are too big for me. and i hear fellow petite women around me also complaining that they cant ever find small clothes that will fit their frame
This reminds me of a great quote I heard: "Money talks, Wealth whispers."
Sup how y'all doing this weekend?
Great
WHAT
Doing great you?
Goob
Great how are you
Can you bring back the blue leather jacket? I couldn’t get it when it was available but I really want it for school.
I love fashion but tend to stick with classical pieces that coordinate with other pieces easily. No crazy loud garish patterns... just nice figure flattering cuts.
"Money talks but wealth whispers"
@@barmayden2300Who told you to buy clothes in bulk like a madman?
love the disenchantment refrence
5:59 LUCI!!!
These tips are great for anything that doesn't have a print. If you buy a properly tailored outfit with a print, it will line up at the seams.
Not matpat being a fashionista and giving advise to the lesser
This one was fun and entertaining to watch …. Now do one with a theory of percentage of the elites how many sacrifices they make compare to your normal average person
LUCI!!!!!!!!!
Is that a hint? Can we expect a Disenchantment theory
I want a hippo couch now
I like quiet luxury always had loved it way more. it is very comfortable compared to brand name items and they last forever.
no better way to distract me than suddenly showing me a pic of the beloved Cruella from the live action movie Cruella
Can we have a theory about “girl colours” and “boy colours” please?
I'm sure that will go wonderfully.
Colours done have an inherent gender, hope that helped :)
@@Olia-ch-kathey're probably asking for a theory about why we think of blue as a boy color and pink as a girl color, not making a statement that colors are gendered lol
Can't wait for libs to get triggered
tl;dr it's was half a marketing ploy to sell pastel dyed textiles and half elizabeth roosevelts fault, that's what the most amount of information i can squeeze into two lines
The channel I didn’t know I needed, but I love
i’ve been dressing preppy old money since i was 13, i have an hourglass shaped body so off the rack clothes fit as if they’re tailored most times, and i have a very private school style, so, lots of my friends think i’m rich even though i’m actually quite poor 😅
First Game Theory,Then Film Theory And THEN Food Theory AND NOW STYLE THEORY
3:27 94°C?!!😰
৹F
Matt's not new money or old money, he's just cash
Interesting video!
Comfort is way more important to me than style. Besides, I rarely go anywhere other than work (at a factory), and for that I wear comfortable athletic shoes, scrub pants, and grey t-shirts representing the different sports teams at my favorite college. If I'm going somewhere, and I want to be "fancy" I'll put on a nicer sports team t-shirt & capris.
I like how MatPat makes a demonstration of trying to make the Billy Elish in Gucci outfit to seem expensive and I just don't recognize Billy Elish nor the Gucci logo all over everything, and pick the other one.
Sekret Style of the rich 👀, you're not suppose to be giving that away (Kekw) This weeks topic will be rather interesting to watch, Danke for sharing. Hope everyone is doing well, Keep It Up Bro 👔 😎 👊
I want the Barney the Dinosaur "Commit Tax Evasion" shirt
I love your style

Style Theory idea: do a theory on the fashion seen in the capital in the Hunger Games.
