I'm so happy to discover this just today... I'm a survivor of very violent youth and have a lot of trauma. I loved drawing when I was young, but life hits, and i had no one saying that i was good in anything. 5 years ago i cut bridges with my family as ill never be enough to deserve them support. I started looking in the neuroscience and trauma and nde... It helped me a lot, but i want to start drawing again, but I always feel so blocked, unknowing what to draw... This exercise is perfect for my neuronal healing and my drawing motricity 🥰 Thanks a lot 🎉❤🎉
This is a very helpful video! Having so far survived for over 20 years from cancer and having the heart of my heart's delight and meaning daughter who's cancer took her away from us forever on this Earth, I will tell you that art was a HUGE part of our journeys-hers even more so than mine. She used multiple mediums, including photography and writing but always painting and always using mixed media, she would also put on the ear phones and let music help her and bop around the house! What a joy. I gave all my kids art items to make anything with and they all took to it, but she, the most. Thank you so much. And everyone there at the Cancer Resource Center, LivingWell, at Northwestern Medicine, keep on keeping' on! Hearts, Terri S.
SO PRECIOUS. I feel I’m standing on HOLY GROUND reading about your beloved daughter! She took something of you all with her, and she left something phenomenal of herself in the depths of your heart. Everytime you create, you’ll feel her. How blessed in the midst of the bittersweetness. May you always taste the sweetness!❤️
You are such a remarkable and strong woman! I don't know you, but I'm very, very proud of you and how you're balancing your heart and mind. You are a beautiful inspiration ❤❤
There is more to neurological art than nice art. It’s a recognized scientific therapy that is taught by qualified practitioners. It is nice as an art but I’d advise people with depression, PTSD, pain to look at the other UA-cam videos for the intention and purpose behind this art and check out Prof Pavel, the originator of this therapy.
I just came across this technique a couple of days ago and started on water color pad. I’m 72 and use to do this when I was a child it was called stain glass crayon. Used black crayon to make scribble lines and spent hours coloring in the spaces. I remember how relaxing it was. I love that I found this more sophisticated way to create and feel calming. Thank you. I really love this.
Who did a fabulous job with this video. You explained the concepts well in a way that is accessible to anyone. I just watched someone else's video under graphic art in the boat made it sound so serious and precise that I couldn't finish watching the thing. The next video I chose was yours and I'm very glad I did. Thank you exclamation points
The Cancer Council of West Australia offered Mindful Art as one of their courses ftee to cancer patients this year. One of the sessions did neurographic art like this & it was a wonderful introduction to the more in-depth neurographica. This is a great introduction to the concept thanks
I did a drawing yesterday, 8x8 Sq, my hubby was impressed. I over rounded, but this video gave me better ideas to avoid over curving my corners. I'm dealing with shaking hands, new diagnosis of parkinsons disease. I am a life long crafter discovering limitations. Having to downsize my stash, some how!
This is wonderful! Thank you! I made my own while I followed along with you. It really is so very therapeutic and the end result is beautiful. Your examples are gorgeous!
Just learned about Neurographic art. I'm a disabled R.N. and have always enjoyed the benefits of art. But this is instant success. I love how it can help people work through health issues and be successful on their first try. Love the edge you added.
Really nice interpretation of Neurographica! Some fantastic ideas, and beautiful results. Thank you! I would call your tecnique "Neuroart" (neurographic inspired art). The official neurographic technique is quite in-depth and requires significant study with a certified coach. I have been slowly learning, but frankly, for now, I enjoy the freedom from "rules" that Neuroart offers. PS-You are a wonderful teacher!!
@@Amanda-I-AM I admire and follow Alina Smolyansky but have not been able to take her courses. You can find her on UA-cam, Instagram and Facebook. Good luck!
Thank you Cheri! I'm new to this, and your website is very helpful. You provided many examples, which illustrated a range of applications. The constant in your works is the rounding off of overlapping lines. That consistency unifies your examples. I'm ready to start now, and will follow your website. Just what I needed!
Fantastic demonstration of neurographica, Cheri! I like all the colours you used. I tend to stick with black on white paper with some metallic gel pen embellishments. Thank you for sharing.
Thank You So Much for this video. I've watched several videos about Neurographic Art.. the concepts etc... And this video has been the best by far... So Thanks😊
Wow I have just discovered this form of art in my opinion you are the best at explaining it. The advice for those of us with arthritis helped so much! You are really a fantastic teacher👏👏👏Thank you so much
I was introduced to neurographic art about 3 months ago and love it - both as an art form and as a therapeutic tool. I'm constantly on the lookout for new impulses and to further develop my art. This video gave me a ton of new ideas that I can't wait to try out. Thank you!! 🙂
I am a Certified Neurographica Instructor and Coach, and a Specialist course Trainer. Welcome to learn the whole process on my youtube channel, lots of open videos and extensive knowledge in everything Neurographica ))
I love this, I've done some neurographic style artwork but you gave me some new ideas to incorporate into my work. I've drawn a simple face and then did neurographic style art over it including rounding the areas where the lines touched the outline of any part of the face. It turned out great.
I like the way your mandalas aren't rigidly repeated patterns. I've never seen casually patterned mandalas before. I thought it was against the rules. But I can attempt your method as a person with an ABI. Thank you for awesome video. Good teacher.👏👏👏🙂
Love your different special touches like the curved lines and filling in the cells. I only learned about this technique today. Looks like a good meditative art technique. I also make mandalas. Adding this technique would definitely result in something interesting. I like to use watercolors, would be great to add some color. I like where you adapted this technique to other pieces of art. 👍 Last, I feel I need an entire book to show off this technique.
Your last picture, that you call a butterfly was unquestionably an octopus to me. The textured blue looked like water, the bug eye and rounded head and body filling about 2/3 of the page, it was beautiful and I’d love to try to recreate it as I see it.
I have never heard of this art form and it's very beautiful and this video's description is helpful. However, note to the camera-person - please position the camera in front of the artist's hand, not behind as you were covering much of what she was 'showing' us.
You covered so much- that was great info and good inspiration. Well done- can’t wait to try some new techniques! You are covering so much wonderful stuff, I think you could slow down the pace a little. I’m recommending this to my nuerographic art friends and family.
Hi Brenda - If you are using Sharpie Markers, you won't need a fixative. Cheri recommends using a fixative with chalk pastels and has found hairspray to work. Hope this helps!

W0w! Good afternoon! You have great work. You are a talented person. You are doing well. Shoot more new videos. You are well done! Good luck and have a nice day.
Me parece un método de expresión para liberar emociones sin la necesidad de interpretarlas pues se evita el que invadan tu intimidad , cercano a respirar
Me too! We were taught this at primary school in the U.K. back in the 60s but there is a whole generation now that thinks it is new. It’s great that it’s got lots of people creating who maybe wouldn’t have done if they hadn’t discovered this ‘new’ art that someone gave a fancy name to and, I believe, has copyrighted.
I agree with this. I’m enjoying learning this process, but will need to find different markers that don’t emit fumes like sharpies do. I find my breathing becomes stunted when using the sharpies, and breathing is an important part of this process, as I understand it. If anyone has suggestions of permanent markers without odors, I would be very grateful. Reader, thank you for seeing my comment, and good luck on your journey.
( I see quite a few sharp corners in it, I think.)
This is amazing, Cheri! I’m just learning about neurographic art. Is there a video of you doing the tree you showed? I thought it was especially beautiful. Thanks!
I am a Certified Neurographica Instructor and Coach, and a Specialist course Trainer. Welcome to learn the whole process on my youtube channel, lots of open videos and extensive knowledge in everything Neurographica ))
What it looks like you’re doing is sort of a cross between Neuroart and Zentangle? Is that an accurate? I’m asking because I’m totally confused about Neurographic or Neurographica art because they are so many rules around that, from what I understand, and failing to follow said rules makes it “wrong,” and I have long been told that there is no right or wrong in any artistic endeavor. I understand this to be a therapeutic type of art that ceases to be that, when one does not follow the “algorithms” set for a given piece? Honestly, I just love taking all of the information you are giving here, and making the process whatever I want it to be. However, it seems to cause those who are certified in NG art to tell me that I’ve made mistakes, and that I’m doing it wrong, leaving me feeling completely confused. Any insight you could give me on this would be greatly appreciated!
Always thought neurographic was free hand, and avoidance of repetitive lines, thought that was the main point? I keep seeing artists use repeating line shapes, and rulers and other objects to draw around.
absolutely right! I am a Certified Neurographica Instructor and Coach, and a Specialist course Trainer. Welcome to learn the whole process on my youtube channel, lots of open videos and extensive knowledge in everything Neurographica ))
thank you ! really good explanation but....does anybody else get a weird feeling on their teeth from the sound that the marker makes on the paper?? I wish i could lower that sound and just listen to the explanation.
Agreed, it’s like a mixture of several things, and affords the person much more freedom than following all of the rules and the right bs wrong thing, which I find off-putting as it pertains to art. This is especially true when one is using (or, trying to) as a therapeutic process, which strict Neurographica does not allow for at all.
As part of the neurographic process, I find it triggering for a person of OCD when a speaker continually says “kind of” instead of making absolute comments. It’s something SO many people do today. No one actually does anything - they only “kind of” do things. I challenge everyone to see how long you can speak without saying “kind of”.
Next time, please consider moving the camera to your other side so we can see the marker itself at work rather than watching your hand moving over the surface.
I really find it off putting when anyone tells me "you're gonna do" something and even more so ,"you're gonna want to do "something. just sayin'. Your finished product looks like stained glass, very nice. Thank you.
