I became aware of Neurographic Art this year. I needed something to help me cope with my constant pain. After 14 back surgeries it’s a bit daunting to try anything that could distract my brain from the pain. I like watching you do this art form as it’s just as relaxing as actually doing it. Thank you for sharing your creativity!
Hi Barb ❤️ I’m so sorry to see you’re dealing with chronic back pain. It can certainly be difficult to distract ourselves from pain, especially when it is constant. Art has helped me deal with depression and other health issues. Like you, when it’s too difficult to even fathom picking up a brush myself, I have found watching art video to be therapeutic and relaxing on its own. I’m glad you found this video relaxing ❤️ sending you lots of love 🤗
Glad you find something to take your mind off your pain . I get bouts of Siatica from time to time and that's bad enough while it lasts .Wishing you well .
Hello Barb. I have also chronic backpain and other pain problems. Maybe is the resaeach from dr. John E Sarno. Healing backpain a eye opener. I read now his book and i learn about it. Very interesting. You can try it, in combination with neurografic art maby the best thing 😁😅🫶🤞🍀💐 Good luck and succes and have a nice day from the netherlands.
Great video! Your take on Neurographic art and how it helps you was interesting and definitely makes a complex style approachable. I do think it's important to point out the difference between art as therapy and art therapy. As you've implied in your video that this is art therapy. It definitely is a great theraputic tool, but it's as much therapy as mindfulness or journalling is. Art therapy requires a trained practitioner who understands the theraputic relationship and how the art materials influence a persons levels of cognition and emotion. I love to see you edicating people on relaxation and regulation techniques, I will definitely check out more of your videos!
Hi ☺️❤️ Thank you so much for watching and for making the time to reach out! Neurographic art is a form of art therapy, but you’re absolutely right that how I’m doing it is not considered as such. I have mentioned this in previous videos I believe and it can’t hurt to mention it again. As a formally trained counseling therapist, I agree that therapy of any kind is best done with a professional (preferably in person). I also have not been trained in neurographic art therapy techniques and I don’t follow all of their “rules” when I do it. I use the art form in the way that feels most mindful and therapeutic to me and this means not constraining myself to rules (which I find constraining in general, especially in creative process). Though it may not be art therapy per se, I am showing people this art form because it is a very mindful and relaxing practice that can indeed feel therapeutic. I hope this makes sense! ☺️ Thank you so much for your kindness 💕
I've tried neurographic art in the past. I started by using a fine liner to make random shapes and then filled them in with watercolour. I might try this approach of painting first and then overlaying with the black marker.
I don't understand why people seem to feel the need to criticize other people's art. I have a few BFA's in my life and they live in a tight box of constraint! I love this piece you created. I think it's beautiful!
🤗💕 I think it's very likely much easier to be a critic than it is to be an artist 😉😂 I appreciate you and your kind words! Thank you so much ❤️ I love this painting too!
Aww ❤️ I'm so happy you were able to watch this together and that you enjoyed it! Neurographic art is very therapeutic for me and when I use this process, it reminds me of the healing processes in my life. I picture the cells in my body working together to bring me more wellness. ☺️ Thank you all so much for making the time to watch my video and thank you also for making the time to connect with me. It really means a lot 💕 🤗
I too love neurographic art! It is sooo relaxing. I have created some very cool pieces, that sometimes show little critters or other objects in them. Music also effects the design quite a bit.
I agree with you wholeheartedly about the "rules." I tried this method, the one based on creativity more than rules, and it did create a meditative, happy, relaxed experience for me. And yes, it did help me deal with things and look at things differently. It was therapeutic. However, once I tried to follow rules, realized the lines I had and loved were "wrong," etc., etc., I just became frustrated, thereby losing all those positive effects above. Thank you for addressing the rules, which I'm sure some love to follow and gain things by, and I'm sure they have their purpose....but for me, freedom of expression was key to finding peace and change.
As one wise artist once told me “you do you!” ❤️ Rules may work for some people but that doesn’t mean they have to work for us. And yay for finding our own creative voice and giving ourselves the space to be fully immersed in our moments artful play. Thank you for watching and for making the time to connect ❤️
@@gabrielleannacormierart thank you for such a lovely and thoughtful response! Thank you also for such a wonderful video - and!! I’m new to your channel, and have been wondering about abstract art with watercolors - so happy I found you! Going to sub this minute. Have a wonderful day and thank you again! ❤️
I color once a day something I enjoy that’s fun. I’d do the same with this too keep it light, flowing, enjoyable. Quiet, mindful activity. Let go release be present. Use music with it too. Feels like an escape. I saw the rules reminded me of kaleidoscopes not for me too structured. All wired differently that’s a good thing. ❤
I've had abstract art on my mind for a year (I paint a lot of acrylics and watercolor) - I thoroughly enjoy this video and will spend a lot of my evenings pursuing neurographic art! You just opened a door for me. Thank you.
Yay!!! ☺️ I fell in love with neurographic art a few years ago and I have not looked back since. It's my go to when I want to refocus my mind and bring a little bit more zen into my life. I hope you have a ton of fun exploring all the wonders of this art form! Thank you so much for making the time to connect and share this with me 💕🤗
I agree with what you say about how rules (especially in the creative process) can sometimes feel overwhelming and putting pressure on us to do things a certain way. Yay to creating in our own way! ☺️ thank you for watching and for making the time to connect, Jane ❤️
It is satisfying, fun and relaxing all at once! I love it and I believe you will enjoy it as well. Thank you for making the time to connect! Happy creating 🎨❤️
Neurographic art is such an easy, relaxing and fun way of creating! There's a good chance you would enjoy it and I hope you will give it a try! Thank you for watching and for making the time to connect ☺️❤️
This is just the perfect video, at the perfect time for me, in so many ways. So thank you so much for sharing. I have been deeply influenced in the development of my artistic style by Kandinsky and artists that have followed in that vein. I am just beginning to experiment with watercolor and I'm very much a beginner, and have been looking for some guidance and how to lay down color so that I get a vibrancy. So this was fantastic. But even more so, I have dealt with PTSD, chronic pain and anxiety for most of my adult life. Mindfulness, yoga, breathwork have all been key in holding all of that in a more gentle embrace. The fluidity of this work you're demonstrating, not only dovetails that which attracts me so much to the work of the artists like Kandinsky (you may be familiar with his book, The Spiritual in Art), but also in the way one can so deeply lose, and heal, oneself in it's creation. Eager to explore this. Again, thank you for sharing.
Hi Michael ❤️ Thank you for making time to connect with such kindness and for choosing to share part of your journey with me. Art and the practice of mindfulness have been healing for me in so many ways as well and it’s always lovely to connect with another creative soul. I have of course heard of Kandinsky, but I had not heard of his book. It sounds like just the kind of book I would enjoy reading. So thank you for sharing with me too! I wish you well as you continue to explore and play with watercolors ❤️🤗🎨
Merci beaucoup Manon ☺️ I love neurographic art because it is indeed very relaxing! I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I have many other videos on this subject that you may also enjoy. Thank you so much for making the time to watch and connect ❤️
I love your art… it is stunning with a bright, yet peaceful vibe. So happy to have discovered you! I will be embarking on watercolour, and neurogenic art❗️Thank you Gabrielle, your commentary with your lovely voice is peace inducing. 🙏❣️
Thank you so much Gabrielle, I really really enjoyed watching you creating this awesome and stunning painting, and I really really love ❤️ it, it’s so organic and beautiful too. Hope you have a lovely holiday. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤
Beautiful video Gabrielle and beautiful art. I volunteer where my daughter is a primary school counselor. I have taught zentangle to children and they love it. I think this would be amazing to use with kids in crisis.
Hi Diana ❤️☺️ Thank you so much for your kind words! Neurographic art is so easy, so much fun and so mindful! Whenever I have done it with my nieces, we had a wonderful time. Thank you for being to caring and loving of kids 💕
Absolutely beautiful and so relaxing to watch your creative process! Thank you!❤ this is my first experience, my first youtube watched with neurographics. Love it and will definitely watch your others and try it myself. Have a great day!
Thank you for sharing your creative process, Gabrielle. . .I find my noisy and busy mind tends to shush and relax as I watch your video (s). This is such a peaceful and intuitive process as well as visually beautiful! And. . .no over-arching perfection required! Peaceful way to enter into the day ahead. Thank you . . . .
Hi Leigh ❤️🤗 I really appreciate your kind and supportive words! Thank you so much for making the time to watch my videos and thank you for sharing your experience with me. 🥰
Dear Anna, hello. It was a great and unusual pleasure to watch the work process. I really like the neurographic technique. You are very special in technique for me because I love watercolors. All the best and a huge thank you, very significant and contributes to a wonderful calm. shoshai
Love this piece of artwork you created. It was so gratifying to watch you round off all of those corners, and then add the little white dots! Also really enjoyed seeing the texture created with salt sprinkles and how you removed the paint seepage once you removed the tape. Thank you! Hope you enjoy your upcoming nice, simple, relaxed get-away...
Hi Vicky ❤️ Thank you so much for your kindness! I’m so glad to see you enjoyed watching the process ☺️ Thank you also for the vacation wishes! It’s been two years since I’ve had a real get away with my husband and I’m so excited it’s coming up 😆 I hope life is treating you well this week 🤗
Awesome...the relaxed feeling washed over me just watching you. Have done a couple Neuro pieces and find that the process helps in so many ways. Thank you for sharing...so enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for making the time to watch! ❤️ Neurographic art is so much fun and it is very relaxing. I hope you will give it a try ☺️ I believe when I made this video, I was living in beautiful Pittsfield Vermont. Since then, we moved to Maine to be closer to my family in NB, Canada. But, I'm still loving life in New England.
My gosh, I absolutely love your art style ❤! I think I smiled the whole way through that video. Thank you so much for sharing. I only heard about this form of art about 20 minutes ago and feel lucky to come across your video! Xx
Thank you so much for your kindness!! ☺️❤️ I'm so glad you enjoyed watching this process! You might also enjoy this one: ua-cam.com/video/GDHcdiMijec/v-deo.html. Thank you for making the time to watch, comment and connect! It's greatly appreciated 🤗
Stunning results! I love doing this style of art and also find it relaxing watching videos like this. I have done it similar to this, using watercolors first but it seems to chew up my marker nibs while doing the black areas, any advice on the best black markets to use? Thank you for this video
Thank you for your kind words! ❤️ I'm so happy you gave it a try as well! Yes, watercolor paper can wreak havoc on our felt tip markers for sure! I've since moved on to using the following: amzn.to/3wX8pgT (It can take a little while to get use to working with a brush pen, but once you get used to it, I think you'll really enjoy it and the paper won't damage it at all ☺️). On smaller pieces, I also like to work with the following fountain pen: amzn.to/3Pj9XrG. Because it has a metal tip, it also will not be damaged by the texture of watercolor paper. The nice thing about this pen is you can use the converter to refill the pen or you can buy ink refills (amzn.to/4ciKR6c). I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching and for making the time to connect 💕
LOVE your work! I won't elaborate on its inspiration but need to ask please; What white pens do you use? I've tried 3 different brands & types of tips & only frustration has ensued. Anyone?
Hi Denise ❤️🤗 Ah white pens!!! It is hard to find ones that work consistently well over watercolors. I have 2 that I really love: one is a Pentel Signo (they work well over watercolors, especially when they are new and full of ink) and the other one is an Eco TWSBI that I fill with white ink. I tend to work with very saturated color on my paper and I think this can pose certain problems with the color bleeding into my white ink. So, if I want really bright whites, I will often go over the ink with gesso. I hope this helps! Thank you for your kindness and for making the time to reach out and connect ☺️
Thank you for taking the time to reply & sharing your techniques & tools. I so appreciate your instruction, insights & inspiration. In gratitude, Denise
I've been doing this for years but didn't know it had a name. I never start art with a prompt. It's literally what comes out of my head in the moment, be it swirls, or full-blown illustrations. They're never predictable, and many times, I'm just as surprised by the product as the next person. I call them flow of mind drawings, but I think I may change the name now. Edit: bad spelling
That's fantastic!! I say stick to what you have called it because it is so meaningful ❤️ Flow of Mind drawing ✨ LOVE it!! Thank you for making the time to share ☺️
I was just about to make the same comment, then I read yours. I'm even amazed at how much this artform resembles work I have been doing already for years. Weird.
My first time on here, Bettina Fernandez highly recommended you and I'm glad she did! You're both great artists! Thank you for your tutorial - very inspiring and fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing more.
Wow!! Your kindness is such a gift ❤️☺️ Thank you for making the time to check out my channel! I’ll be reaching out to Bettina as well to thank her for her kindness 💕
I love this process and it’s truly is therapeutic. One step you did was to use the table salt to get a textured affect on the watercolor areas. Do you have a video that expounds and details this process a bit more? I loved the result!!!
Hi Jackie ☺️ Thank you for watching! I do use salt in other videos I believe, but I’m not sure I explain it in much more detail. I will make one in the weeks to come. Stay tuned and happy creating! 🎨
Thank you so much for your kindness and for sharing your perspective in such a respectful way ❤️🤗 I am going to go revisit this one so I can see it from your perspective ☺️
Hi Diane ❤️ thank you so much! It’s interesting how there’s almost always a point where I wonder if I can “save” a painting because it looks like it might be heading in the wrong direction. When I resist the urge to just give up on it and I keep going, I can usually bring it around and this one was no exception. I really like how it turned out too. ☺️ Thank you for your kindness and for watching! It’s much appreciated 🤗
Great video Gabrielle - I usually do my black lines before I color in the sections, but I like the way you color first then do the lines - I am going to give your way a try - Your design is super, oh and the white dots are great - Thanks for taking the time to show your way of doing this ❤
Thank you so much for your kindness and for making time to connect ❤️☺️ Neurographic art is just so much fun and it always brings me so much joy to know so many of us are out there doing it! Happy creating 🤗🎨
This is gorgeous and I really enjoyed watching the process. I'm totally hooked on this artform, trying it out in various ways with various mediums. I have fibro, Anxiety, and migraines and find this to be very therapeutic for me. I've subscribed and will be watching for your other videos as they come along. Thank you so much!
Hi Robyn ❤️ I'm so glad to see this art form speaks to you too! It is one of the ways I can bring zen and healing into my days. Thank you for subscribing and for making the time to watch and connect ☺️ I appreciate you sharing a part of your journey with me and can relate to your experience with anxiety and migraines 🤗
2/29/24..1st time viewer..👍+Subscribed..love your warm colors (black lines too harsh I think..maybe medium gray lines, aye?)..those 'bubbly' areas top right & btm left, very nice! Anxious to see more of your work! Go ! Go, give us more!🎉😊
Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and for reaching out to connect! ☺️ The salt creates some pretty interesting effects, doesn't it! I am happy to have you here with me and hope you will continue to enjoy my channel. 🎨
Hi Elizabeth ❤️☺️ In my mind, when it comes to creating, there are no absolutes! I tend to use black because I love how it makes my colors pop, but, I have also used white and I think any color you feel called to use would be a great color to create with ☺️ The more we experiment, the more we learn and grow as artists! Happy creating 🎨🤗
In my video description, I listed a white pen (amzn.to/4d0PnGt), but I also love these pens - amzn.to/4fjQRxd and when they can't cut it, I use white gesso and a dotting tools. I hope this helps!
Can you please explain to me about putting fine ground salt on your artwork, does it still have to be wet and what actually does it do? Thanks in advance. PS Your artwork is amazing and has inspired me to try my own
Hi Wayne! ☺️ Salt is used while the paint is still wet. Then, as the paint and paper dry, the salt repels the paint and creates interesting "marks" or "textures". I recommend grabbing a small piece of scrap watercolor to experiment with this. Try adding salt to different paint swatches at varying levels of dryness to see how your paint will react. I have found, that sometimes it also matters what quality of paper you use, but generally the effects can be created on most watercolor paper. You'll notice that the more your paint is dry on the paper, the less there is an effect. I like to use it in my artwork because it adds interesting effects to my backgrounds. The trickiest part is having enough patience to let the paper and paint dry naturally so the salt can do its thing. Once the paper and paint are completely dry, you can use a piece of paper towel or tissue to rub the salt off your painting before continuing your process. I hope this helps! Thank you for making the time to connect and thank you for your kind words ☺️❤️
Amazing art, love it. Just a personal opinion , idea, don't bother to correct the margins to be perfect. If color happens to bleed a little bit , it just makes it look more artistic, natural.

Dear Anna, hello. It was a great and unusual pleasure to watch the work process. I really like the neurographic technique. You are very special in technique for me because I love watercolors.
All the best and a huge thank you, very significant and contributes to a wonderful calm. shoshai
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video and I appreciate that you also made the time to connect with me. ☺️
Absolutely fabulous
Thank you Dianne ❤️ I love creating neurographic art!
With one word terrific
Aww ❤️ thank you! I appreciate it! 🤗
Amazing!
This type of art keeps popping up so perhaps it's time to try! Was super excited to see that you're local!
@@gabrielleannacormierart Question, do you pronounce your last name with the R or the French way? My Grandmother's maiden name was Cormier❤️
Oh how awesome!! My maternal language is French and I grew up pronouncing it the French way, with the silent R. ☺@@GlynisEarthHawkKaye
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome Sally Jo ❤️ thank you for watching!
My gosh, I absolutely love your art style ❤! I think I smiled the whole way through that video. Thank you so much for sharing. I only heard about this form of art about 20 minutes ago and feel lucky to come across your video! Xx

I love your art work.. ❤
Thank you so much ❤️
Wow. LOVE this one !!😊
Thank you so much for your kindness ❤️☺️
LOVE your work! I won't elaborate on its inspiration but need to ask please;
What white pens do you use?
In gratitude,
Denise

Weird.
@@beth1979 something to celebrate I think 😉Enjoy every creative moment 🎨❤

Very nice, it reminds me of hippie op-art 👍👍
Thank you so much! Love it ✌️❤️☺️
My first time on here, Bettina Fernandez highly recommended you and I'm glad she did!
This is beautiful!
I’m glad you enjoyed it Mary Jane ☺️ thank you for watching ❤️
It was perfect at 10:00. Think too many white dots, but still like the touch. Overall beautiful. You have so much patience.
Thank you so much for your kindness and for sharing your perspective in such a respectful way ❤️🤗 I am going to go revisit this one so I can see it from your perspective ☺️

This turn out really wonderful a piece of work 🥰
Thank you so much ❤️
Love it. 🙂❤❤❤
Thank you ❤️☺️
Did you let your applications dry between each addition of color? Lovely work. ☺️
Yes I did ☺️ It’s the best to “control” how much the color will blend together. Thank you for your kindness ❤️
Gabrielle, This turned out really wonderful! The change from start to finish is very cool. Enjoyed watching the process. Diane
Go ahead and follow the "rules " of neurographic therapy. Begin with your lines...
Such an inspiring video, thank you!
You’re so welcome! I’m happy you’re feeling inspired ❤️
Gabby I have just done my very first NA, in textas though, I thoroughly enjoyed it 😄

Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and for reaching out to connect! ☺️ The salt creates some pretty interesting effects, doesn't it! I am happy to have you here with me and hope you will continue to enjoy my channel. 🎨
Do you have to always use a black marker or can you use any colour.
What brand of fine detail brushes do you use in some of your videos ?
Hi ☺️ My favorite fine detail brushes are from this set here:amzn.to/42CIRjb. I used them a lot!!
@@gabrielleannacormierart ahhh, great. Thanks 🙏
What is the white dot marker called please?
In my video description, I listed a white pen (amzn.to/4d0PnGt), but I also love these pens - amzn.to/4fjQRxd and when they can't cut it, I use white gesso and a dotting tools. I hope this helps!
Thankyou very much ❤
Can you please explain to me about putting fine ground salt on your artwork, does it still have to be wet and what actually does it do?
Thank you for your kind words and for the advice ☺️ It does look organic and interesting when the color bleeds, it’s true!
