hi Karen, thank you for your wonderful feedback, i really appreciate it. You can find the video about drawing lines on my UA-cam channel. there is a short series of introductory videos.
Thank you!!! Never heard of this method till today. I am an artist and have been trying to meditate, always feeling like I can't go past a threshold. I know this can take me where I need to go...inside!!
Thank you, that was a great presentation and connection. Only discovered this modality a few days ago and am loving starting to practice. Interested now to find your video on 'the line' Another (Russian) teacher mentioned 'whatever direction the line wants to go, move in another direction' and that has confused /challenged me to understand how that works with 'trusting the flow of the line' in a way you mentioned that I'm used to doing from many years of art therapy/free or intuitive line and colour practice. Thanks again!
Thank you for your feedback, i really appreciate it. Yes, the line is really a chapter by itself. The way I see and teach it is that there is a range of possibilities that we can play and experiment with - following the flow, finding our edge, or even going against the flow. But I don't think that we always need to necessarily push ourselves to the edge of comfort. In the end, it is all about exploring and strengthening our perception and inner awareness 😊
At around 32 minutes, where you stopped talking and just let yourself "flow" , was most relaxing and deep for me. I cannot wait to continue my neuro art with this different way of seeing and feeling. Danke sehr!
You are the first instructor that hasn't said "you have" to do this or that or that it can only do it one way or it's worthless. Art is supposed to be about self-expression. So thank you, i like your approach very much.

Breathe, breathe in the Sharpie fumes. lol. I just found this and I love it! Thank you for posting this for us for free! I showed it to my art therapist too! I’m just gonna have to find a different marker the sharpie is making me feel yucky. …my first time and using the regular thick sharpie. My lines started out looking like waves or peninsulas with lots of squares edges so ended rounded those and it looked like swirly waves/lava lamp fingers…my lines didn’t really over lap much. But now I’ve rounded and rounded in my catharsis, the sharpie lines all look so thick it seems hard to find how I’m going to put in my focal through energy lines. 😊💚🙏✨💚💕
yes, other markers work perfect. I always recommend to just experiment with any and all materials that you already have sitting on your desk. And yes, for the emphasis it is nice to have a thicker pen and line, or you can also make one circle stand out with a stronger color for example. Hope this helps. I'd love to see your drawing if you would share in my Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/neuroartproject
This is an amazing tutorial and really makes me want to go deeper. Thanks Antje! I’ve done neurographica drawing three times in the past week but didn’t realise that the color needs to overlap. I have just kept each color within each little segment of the image. Is there any reason behind letting the color overlap? Is it meant to create new inner connections or something along those lines?
@aletheiawildwood4782 yess there is intention and meaning in how we color. In short, it is another way to create connection between larger areas in the drawing and respectively in our minds. It is a way of integrating and of working with the archetypal energy of color. We go much deeper into this in the course and also go into the theory behind it in terms of psychological impact. I'm glad you're enjoying the drawing. id love to see your drawings if you would share in my Facebook group facebook.com/groups/neuroartproject
Hello teacher! First I want to say that I love your work and want to thank you for teaching us. I just started learning this tool and I am liking it a lot. Lately I have been angry and decided to use this technique but because of my feelings, I rushed to draw the lines and they weren’t curved, just more straight and I was drawing fast, then I began to fill some areas with little circles in a fast pace too, then by the moment I had to round the corners, I felt better and then even better while coloring. So, should I do a meditation before drawing when feeling this way? Thanks in advance.
Hello. It's great that you found this method and also that you observe yourself and see how you are acting when you are angry - fast...so you might see where in your life this pattern shows up and reflect if you want to change it. I think it can be beneficial to meditate, but more so I would recommend taking deep breaths and consciously slowing down whenever you feel the pattern of being fast come up. I hope this helps. If you want to study in more depth, I recommend starting with the Neurographica Basics course. There we work a lot with how to dissolve negative emotions and how to observe our patterns of reaction. I am so grateful that you have this out in the public’s eye without having it behind a pay wall. I’ve been trying to learn the overall process, and do plan to dig deeper as I go. It seems as if everytime I’ve asked other creators questions on SM - they send me a dang link to their paid trainings. 🤦🏼♀️. I had an interesting moment as you drew your lines. maybe is normal when watching someone rather than personally be doing it ourselves at the time. At various times, I had one or two words come to mind which were definitely related to me. With that being said, when doing our own, if that were to happen - is it okay to stop and write that word or phrase in the spot that we felt it? Or does that interrupt the flow? Again, thank you for your generosity for us all to learn the process!!! The awesome part of giving from a place of gratitude is that as the video finished, I am super excited to hear that you said you have a course!!!! ❤❤ I’m gonna go check them out for sure!!!
thank you for your wonderful feedback and insights 🙏 i really appreciate it. About the words that come up for you, you can absolutely stop and write them down in your drawing, many of my students have done similar things and i feel that it can actually enhance the process as we stop and listen. And most important of all, i absolutely recommend experimenting and making this your own process, and if something comes up then always listen - on a deeper level, this is what this entire method is all about. I hope to see you in one of my courses or workshops in the future 😊 and i would also love to see your drawings - i have a Facebook group where you are invited to share: facebook.com/groups/neuroartproject
@@neuroartproject OHHH MY, fb group…. Here I come! I hadn’t even thought about asking that 💖 thank you so much!! Later after watching more, I realized that I missed what weight of paper you prefer when you use the sharpies? (Or if drawing paper - is it a mixed media?) Again, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to have come across you!!!
@jameemaree4602 to be perfectly honest most of the time i use simple copy paper for my classes and demonstrations, and yes, the sharpie absolutely bleeds through, but i don't mind that. sometimes when i do longer processes for myself I do use thicker mixed media paper, especially when i want to experiment (like with using watercolor pencils or other coloring experiments). But to begin with I wouldn't even worry about that and just use whatever you have available.
"I live in California." No WAY! 😱 Seriously, though, this is really interesting. I'll give it a go. And you have an overwhelmingly good vibe so I really enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for this amazing demonstration. I really enjoyed it and your explanations were really clear 😊. I just wondered - I had a lot of bleeding with my pen. I was using a fine/ultra fine sharpie on smooth copy paper. The pen seemed quite thick and maybe the paper was too thin? Could I ask what pen and paper you were using please? Many thanks again 😊😊
thank you for the beautiful feedback, I am glad that you enjoyed the drawing. Yes, sharpie can be a little harsh for some paper. I use copy paper (75 g/m2) for my demonstrations, but privately I sometimes like to use heavier drawing paper. The pens I use are Stabilo (either fine No 88 or thicker No 68) I absolutely love those, because they come in many different colors as well. I hope that helps. I would love to see your drawings as well if you would share (I think there is a link to my facebook group on my channel page)

I always thought that this was use a type of drawing, a design style maybe, and did not know about the mindfulness of it. Thank you! PS, my grandmother was a Howard. We might be cousins!
a lot of people don't know about the mindfulness piece and just do it as a 'style' but for me that piece is the most important and the reason why I teach it. I think there might be many many Howards around 😅 we're a big clan...
Hello! Thank you so much for this video and practice. I did mine on the traumatic loss of a friendship. I am looking at it and it is quite painful to look at. Can I go in now and change the colors, or do you think it is better to do another one?
@karencalderonacupuncture375 you can continue working on it until you feel complete, so yes going back in and changing colors absolutely works. i also have a different video that is specifically working with grief, this might be helpful for you as well: ua-cam.com/video/UiWUEgFINv4/v-deo.html
thanks for letting me know. It looks like it will just take a little time. The captions are automatically generated in UA-cam. Please check again in a few hours or tomorrow, then it will be available for sure!
I have watched a neurographic course by some russian lady called anastasia a. (in English) and she said that each colour has its own meaning, for example, if you want to get rid of a financial problem and your drawing is about it, you should use blue and yellow, etc. I wonder if Piskarev has said anything about it? she disabled the question function so i could not ask her directly and that's why I am asking you :)
@MelynaSaulegraza i think this was her personal interpretation. there are 2 specific courses where we work with colors in an intentional way according to different knowledge systems - NeuroColor (Chinese 5 elements) and NeuroMandala (the 7 chakras). These are what Pavel often uses... I do however believe that color can have different and unique meaning for each person and even be different each day... i would not focus too much on a specific interpretation but rather feel if it is true for you - how does it resonate in your body, emotions, what do you associate with it??
But what if you make this round shape away from all the lines (as I did)? Also what if I feel bad and anxious and frustrated in the end? It seems it doesn't make sense to make oneself feel even more lousy and depressed?
if you make the shape away from all the lines you should at some point make a connection. One of the main principles of Neurographica is connection between all elements in a drawing. If you have "negative" feelings after a drawing, you can continue drawing, rounding more, softening more edges, connecting more, breathing deeply and most important of all inquire with yourself what you are feeling and why. Also, you can ask yourself what you might need and add circles into the drawing to symbolize these things. The drawing will only bring out what is already inside you, and it can actually help to recognize, acknowledge and then move those emotions. These drawings are deep self-inquiries and you can decide how deep you want to go with it. I hope this helps.
@jessicafedele8595 great question. you can draw another line however it feels right for you and then reflect on what it might mean if the 2 lines move in the same or different directions...i teach more in the course but for starters i would always trust your intuition and then sit with it and ask yourself what it signifies and feels like for you...i might try i the future to make shorter videos to answer some questions like that in more detail
Hello, the method is usually taught in courses, because it is all about practice, so it doesn't really make sense to read about it. I know that there are books that "pretend" to introduce Neurographica, but the ones I've seen so far are not comprehensive and will not allow anyone to actually learn the method. I recommend taking a class - I offer a self-paced online program with recordings that goes into great depth and detail and is filled with drawing practice to really learn the method. I also offer personal feedback on selected drawings and have a student facebook group where students can connect and share their experiences. Here is more information: neuroartproject.net/basics-course
Years ago I did a workshop with Michele Cassou - Point Zero Painting. Cassou method has some similarities to the Neurographic. The difference is Cassou focuses specifically on unblocking creative potential and encourages letting images come thru. So far, I like the fluidity and abstract lines of the Neurographic. Thank you for the video and the introduction into a new practice!
Neurographica is not a therapy, even though it can be used as a tool by art therapists. For all the examples you mentioned I would always recommend to work with a professional. This art process can trigger emotional reactions and there needs to be caution when working with people who have experienced major tauma etc.
I am AuDHD and I have complex PTSD. I've been looking for a video with simple instructions for this. Know the theory. I know what the results are and I know the reason behind it. But personally, I need a visual reference similar to this but it's too busy for me as an opener. I see that this particular video has worked for a lot of people as I've read them the comments which is wonderful. But I was just wondering if you could help me out with a fellow Channel or someone that explains this in a little more concrete. I guess what I mean is my way of learning is different. What does the circle mean? What does the square mean? Why do we need to put them there? Why are some of their different colors? Why do certain things have a different color and other things don't? I get the general idea is a process but if I don't understand the process first before going into it, I can't do it. I suppose that comes from my complex trauma needing everything predictable beforehand.
@myhumansuit if you would like to really learn this method in depth and get all your questions answered, I recommend taking a course. This is a free UA-cam video so I cannot go into every single detail - and also the method and theory etc are protected so I legally cannot share those details like that...
As a scientist and an artist, both of many years experience, it seems to me to be psychobabble. What proof is there that the final drawing improves the psyche?
Most studies have been done in Russian so far (because the creator of the method is Russian)...there are several studies, so you can research them if you're really interested. From personal experience and working with a few hundred students and clients, I can say that there are definitely impacts on the psyche. This method is about self-reflection, self-observation, and getting to know yourself on a deeper level. Most if not all of the people I've worked with have experienced quite profound effects, and have developed a deeper understanding of themselves.
I generally consider myself pretty open minded and woo woo.. but this is seriously the most hippie thing I've ever encountered, right up there with estatic dancing and screaming therapy. My two cents.
Funny, as it was literally created by a Psychology Professor...but I guess we all experience open-mindedness in different ways - ecstatic dance and screaming are totally real and effective in my experience
😅 you can interpret it however it makes sense for you. In a way, I feel it can help "normalize" the mess, and it is like this for everyone, especially when we are working with inner tensions. In general it's not so much about what it looks like and much more about how it makes us feel and what insights it can give us, like a helpful and interesting mess...
there is a Mandala course with Neurographica (there is an introductory video on my channel), although the goal of the method is not to create "perfect" or symmetrical patterns as in Mandalas or rugs but rather to explore a natural and somewhat unexpected flow with the lines...
if you're not interested in learning this specific technique that is absolutely fine...no one is pressuring you...just do whatever you want and call it doodling
Some people may doodle like this, but most of the time, doodles at least attempt to create images. This is 100% non-image based and is much more about the process of putting lines and color on paper rather than the final product. It's a meditation exercise.
@eliseintheattic9697 thank you, yes, absolutely agree. Neurographica is a meditative self-inquiry that uses drawing as a tool to connect with our subconscious...

This❤ thank you for saying this. I’m on a budget and would not have been able to learn without it being free.
Awesome process, Thanks

Thank you, this is really exiting
wonderful. so excited with you 😁
Thank you so much for this amazing demonstration.

@@neuroartproject thank you so much for replying. i will consider these courses.
@@MelynaSaulegraza you can find my courses here: neuroartproject.net/courses I offer both of them
But what if you make this round shape away from all the lines (as I did)?
@@neuroartproject Thank You!
Question: if you drew another energy line, would it also flow the same way as the first, or could it move in a different direction?
@jessicafedele8595 great question. you can draw another line however it feels right for you and then reflect on what it might mean if the 2 lines move in the same or different directions...i teach more in the course but for starters i would always trust your intuition and then sit with it and ask yourself what it signifies and feels like for you...i might try i the future to make shorter videos to answer some questions like that in more detail
Are you aware of any instruction books that teach this. I have an adult nephew who could use it.

Thank you for sharing about Cassou, I will definitely research it. And happy to hear that you enjoy Neurographica as a new practice as well.
Thank you for mentioning this other Point Zero technique, l have saved some talks to watch later and learn about this as well
Even if we know, it helps us to work through. And maybe out.

Will this hrlp with trandcending the PTSD caused by abuse or other conflictual tramad duch as being a victim of war or something?
Neurographica is not a therapy, even though it can be used as a tool by art therapists. For all the examples you mentioned I would always recommend to work with a professional. This art process can trigger emotional reactions and there needs to be caution when working with people who have experienced major tauma etc.

thanks for letting me know. I will check that as soon as i can. It might be due to your browser security. Maybe you can try a different browser?
How do i obtain your course please
hello. please visit my website: neuroartproject.net/basics-course
I'm looking forward to having you in the course.

I hope this isn't somehow representative of my 60 year old neural connections, because this is a mess! LOL!
Mandalas would work much better, patterns, patterns patterns, Persian rugs is a great way to go
there is a Mandala course with Neurographica (there is an introductory video on my channel), although the goal of the method is not to create "perfect" or symmetrical patterns as in Mandalas or rugs but rather to explore a natural and somewhat unexpected flow with the lines...
Well not really pretty but lots of energy !!
it's all about the energy and the process - and a good way to question and overcome perfectionism as well 😊
This is called doodling. Just doodle people.
if you're not interested in learning this specific technique that is absolutely fine...no one is pressuring you...just do whatever you want and call it doodling
yes but no
Some people may doodle like this, but most of the time, doodles at least attempt to create images.
Nope… this is not doodling at all!
