Just got the SL grip and hand guard for my S&W Sport in OD green and love them. Still thinking on the stock.

I wish Magpul would come out with some type of furniture care package. For example, instead of having to order the parts separately, we can have an MOE SL package for either your AR-15, Ak-47, or whatever you have.
The stock is definitely the highlight of this line. Looks like it could give the B5 sopmod bravo a run for it's money. I really like the direction they went with it since I'm more partial to the VLTOR stocks anyway.

guys if you buy the midlength SL handguard you have to change the front handguard cap if you have the triangle shape and change over to the round handguard cap. All SL handguards are fitted that way which is stupid i think because all 5 of my midlength have a triangle cap and both of my carbines are round. keep it in mind

Yeah I like the new design of the slide lock with the two hooded levers instead of the mono. Big plus in terms of unintentional collapse and gear hang ups I think. Hey like them or not I think Magpul is all about fine tuning of their product lines for streamlined purpose and use . Great showcase Sootch! - cc

I just installed the MOE SL furniture on my AR and really like the slimmed down design. This was my first experience with the M -LOC picatinny rail system . These thing rock. They're very easy to install and move around. Magpul hit a homer with this design.
To tell you the truth I'm not really into this new magpul furniture, I just watched the video because I enjoy your reviews. Love the channel, keep up the good work Sootch00.
I just wish I didn't have to sacrifice the front sling swivel to use the handguard. That's pretty much a deal breaker for me, I'm not a fan of single point and I dont like my front attachment point as far back as it would have to be for any of the m-lok solutions for that handguard. Been contemplating some sort of DIY qd drilled through the front "wings" of it,...
I know this vid is 4 years old, but just put the Slimline handguard on my AR pistol. Brilliant! ! ! !

@@TheRockmart you can tap it out with a punch. I didn't have a punch so I had to adapt with a nail and hammer lol. As well as hand held wire cutters.
They seriously improved the MOE stock, I don't care for magpul handguards new or old though. Always thought they look a little ugly compared to traditional handguards, and don't seem to fit as tightly.
Dear Magpul, Please release this in OD green asap!
I like the function of the mlock on the handguard but the extension of the handguard, stock and pistol grip imo are ugly. Could be just because its different... i still might have to get one of handguards
The great thing about the system system is that it is a system.
I really want to see a mid length handguard like this. I might hold off on the MOE furniture I was gonna get for a while, to see if they'll add it.

The older MOE furniture looks higher quality to me especially the hand guard. If your going to use budget parts of that nature you'd be better just running the standard furniture and purchasing one good item at a time in my opinion.
I love it. It looks really nice. It would be better if the pistol grip had a rubber layer like the MOE+

JG Harts dude totally thought the same thing haha!! I had to go back and re-watch that part to realize sootch was yelling at the crows and not a kid or somethin lol. Great vid sootch. I appreciate all the effort you put into these vids because they really are a blessing to guys like me who are proud of the 2nd Amendment but are very open to learning all we can from those who have more experience than ourselves. These are some nice products magpul adding to there products line I personally will buy the Stock and Grip but the Handguard with the M-Loc Rail sections are going to get expensive very quick with them running 20-35 a section you might as well just buy a free float rail...

I still think ATI makes an AR look more premium(H&K) with their full length free floating barrel and scorpion buttstock and grip what a great looking product.
cont. However it only works with a round front retainer ring, not with the triangular ring I have on my Spikes AR-15. Heads up!

I saw you had the original MOE PTS version of the stock. The PTS stands for Professional Training Systems, which is meant for airsoft. Not sure if it has held up to recoup or not, but I wouldn't recommend using it much longer.

Like the SL hand guard. Have a DPMS with carbine length gas system, which is too short for a comfortable hold for me. It being a DPMS I don't want to sink to much money into it and the hand guard looks like it will give me the extra space I desire, plus M-LOK capability.
I don't like the regular MOE furniture, but something about the SL stuff turns my on.
To bad they do not have ODG yet.

Yes, it was off my Airsoft AR but same dimensions. I have two other MOE stocks but in the back of the safe so it is what it is. I figured someone would comment... you people kill me! Lol!

Looks like Magpul's anwer to the B5 Bravo Stock and B5 Handguard. Though the Magpul K2 seems better than the SL Grip imo.
Im probably gonna get some heat for this but I always thought the AR platform was ugly, Magpul just changed my mind.

Will the SL foregrip fit Piston AR's like the Adams Arms ?
will the handguard work with a flat top pick rail gas block? like the gas blocks on DPMS Oracle. They are not low profile gas blocks. So my concern is it may not fit around it, I really like this slim line stock that extends alittle futhur.If it is compatable this solves my longer rail space ssue without have to buy a low pro gas block and way lighter than standard carbine drop in pic rail hand guard.
The nice thing about the original MOE handguards is they had so much beef internally that you could hog out enough material to make it fit an AK or other longarms it wasn't intended for. These.. not so much.
Is there anyway you could do a comparison to the moe sl butt stock to the bcm butt stock? I'm having a really hard time deciding and knowing your opinion would help tremendously
It bears repeating that the SL only works with a ROUND front retainer ring/plate. To Magpul's credit, they make this clear on their webpage descriptions. The older MOE and MOE M-Lock work with round or triangular. Dunno why they couldn't do this with the SL.

I would have sworn I saw an adapter to allow you to use an old MOE MVG grip on the new SL Hand Guard, but now I can't find it. I have emailed MagPul with no response. Anyone know if they will be making such an adapter?

I can't believe how few people don't know the trick to tighten mlock. I don't think I've ever wasted my time setting the depth of the lock nuts or tnuts...
I dont get what the problem with the regular moe furniture was that made them think the SL line was warranted. All the SL line seems to be for me is magpul trying to sell a cheaper product for the same price.

MOE rails are 7 dollars a piece. Unless Mlok is just another way to charge more than seven dollars because "proprietary technology" I still dont get it.
I don't disagree with you, just answering your question. The lighter, slimmer pieces probably reduce material costs as well.
Plus you have to remove the front sling attachment, so that means another $25 (MSA), or $30 (RSA) for a magpul handguard sling attachment.
***** Fair enough.. just another reason to stock up on the original versions when they go on sale.

PQD is no good, overkill on installation, gets in the way as it sits right in the place where you're suppose to rest your ringer in low ready, if you're an idiot (like most of our fellow Americans) you can end up screwing up your rig on installation, and of course it costs about 3x more than it should. Charging 60$ for a small piece of metal is ridiculous! I'm sick of these "patriotic" companies coming out with these things and completely ripping us off. Like EP Armory, making their crappy lowers that they knew were not ready for field use and playing them up then getting all these peoples information in government hands then have the nerve to release another version -__-, nope I'll stick with the BAD, solid company with a good repuation =)

You can attach one with an mlok attachment. Such as a quick detach ring.
I like the Moe stock but the Curly is really nice too. I don't care for the Larry or Shemp version.

Red Rider7 PTS is fine on a airsoft gun, but I wouldn't trust it on a firearm. My friend put some PTS MBUS sights on his new AR build. While I was checking out his AR, I played around with the PTS MBUS front sight. The front sight literally fell apart in my hands. The polymer actually cracked where it held spring tension.
Some of my friends cheap out on gun parts to save a buck, but in the end they waste even more money replacing them. There's a reason why somethings are cheap. But there are quality products that are budget priced like Primary Arms and Vortex Optics.

kyongwon And the kicker is that the airsoft versions of various Magpul stocks and sight cost the same as the real steel versions, depending on where you buy them. So there is no reason not to get the real steel gear.
Is the SL hand guard compatible with piston systems?
sootch I was wanting to get this handguard but what id like to do is mount a pressure switch for my light on top of the handguard. Do you think a pressure switch for the light be able to be mounted on top of this system?
I noticed you have a little oil between the stock and buffer tube. Did you have a issue with it being too tight?
Saw that handguard... looked up the price. It is now on my AR. I had a hell of a time putting it on. Let me tell you, when you don't have special tools it is a task and a half to remove the damn things. I remember them having us remove them in the military, I said "fuck that" along with everyone else then and I say "fuck that" now. I dread the day I shoot out the barrel.

Chad DePue I like the AB Arms Mod 1 Handguard. The grip is very ergonomic. The SL is really slim though and it fits my medium sized hands very well. It's all a matter of preference.
can I use the original MOE rails on this? I ordered mine the other day and it should be here today

Flip a coin. They are both great stocks... and fit a very similar role.
I have the mft now and now that this magpul is out it looks better and seems like it would play out better
I really like the stock and fore end but I don't like the grip design. It's too think for me and rough. Also, the grip doesn't fit flush on the back side of the receiver next to the grip's web. It looks like an afterthought design and doesn't fit as well as their other grips.

Got the SL handguard and installed it on my M&P sport i like the look but not impressed with the fit has a small amount of side to side movement also feels very week with the vertical grip ... wasted $ in my opinion even though it was cheap ... U do get what u pay for no doubt .

I'm not impressed with the fit of the sl handguard by the delta ring. Every install I've seen (6) has a small gap between the upper & lower pieces... it looks terrible, and allows things to get wedged in there. C'mon Magpul, get 'er done!

Yes I have one and very well noticed it. I wonder why magpul didn't fix that a little better. I do like it through......more hand room like a mid-length.

I have the original MOE stock on mine, the new SL one is just plain fugly in my opinion.
Why is the music so overly intense in the beginning of these videos? it doesn't match up with the rest of the video. no music at all would be better.
Hum, no I prefer the older stock. They are discontinuing it? That is a shame. Guess I better pick up a few dozen of them and stock up.
Trust me the newer stock is much better. It's a little stiff at first but what the guy failed to mention is how it doesn't wobble at all because of two leaf springs inside the stock. It's super stable and much more comfortable than the old one. Trust me. And seriously.....a dozen......that's absolutely ridiculous if you 1 have that many ARs or 2 break stocks that quickly. That's a YOU problem dude.
the strength of the mlok system is superior to keymod. there are to many stories of keymod attachments coming lose. keymod is a flawed system.
