much love to you and Richard for doing these interviews!!!
You're a class act, Ash. Thanks for what you do, and doing it better than everyone else.
I picked up the Precious Liquids masculine sample set and it has given me a real appreciation for Richard's nose and ability. They are all pleasant and the accuracy of the fragrance in relation to its name is uncanny. The salt and pepper in particular kind of blew my mind. Reminiscent of a good steak rub in a way with plenty of salt and pepper if I think about it right.
Oud Wood is legendary
These conversations are great - it would be great to talk about reformulations - why do they happen, what's a good example of one, and are there any examples where they actually made the product better? Thanks!
He did touch on this on the creed aventus long video
As @tejanissimo said, Richard Herpin talked about it briefly in the creed aventus video.
But, for those still wondering it seems like the main reason for a fragrance's reformulation is due to ingredients becoming less readily available. He said that this can happen through the raw ingredients literally being harder to produce (think regulations around animal products, limited amount of a rare material, etc.) or the price of the ingredient simply increases to the point where the perfumer no longer sees it beneficial to include it in the formula.
@@MyGailb yes he talked about it briefly, but it’s an issue that has affected many fragrances over the years, and I’m guessing there’s some interesting stories. Worth a dedicated interview IMO.
@@mikebrengartner5484 Oh yes I agree with you
In this video “regulations’ was the reason given for oud wood’s reformulation
The lady at Macy’s in NYC sprayed TF’s Oud Wood on me and it felt like I was floating the whole evening while walking around Time Square. My friends complimented the scent when I got close with them! I’m buying one soon!!!
The concept of these videos is so interesting. Thank you Ash
Love these Richard Herpin videos!! Thanks, Ash!
Is like marking your territory you know??? I like that!!!! I love this guy.
This interview was really cool. Learned alot about how things get done and Richard is a great guy!
These are so dope, thank you!
Vow, being a fragrance lover. It is amazingly fascinating to listen to perfumers like Richard and the excitement and passion when he explains everything is quite palpable!
That wedding story is... fantastic
..I won't be able to sleep until something like that happens for me 😂
PRECIOUS LIQUID in Europe when?
Awesome interview !
Fantastic! Incredible insights on the creation of a legendary scent. Curious about the vintage smell now
On veut plus de discussions comme ça avec des parfumeurs. Très intéressant!!
love these conversations!
One of my all time top 5 fragrances. The first bottle I bought at full retail because I didn’t know about discounters and did some random shopping but I was hooked.
This would have been posted on the maim channel 😢😢😢
This series is fantastic
What a guy.. amazing breakdown!!
Fragrances that go against the IFRA regulations should just have warning labels on them. I hope maybe one day the original formula makes its way into the public domain. I wonder if Herpin was involved in the Parfum coming out this year?
You are absolutely right. But we live in an age where quasi-fascist, quasi-totalitarian types have taken control of government bureaucracies and exploit their power for ideological and political purposes. Just look at what they did during covid.
I have sample of Chanel Paris-Edimbourgh which is juniper forward scent and i gotta say iam enjoying it :) i have to try his Precious Liquid stuff in future!
Glad he admit it that the original formulation was better and longer lasting, I still have a bit of the original formulation and it's a masterpiece.
J'adore fragrances!
Great video and I enjoyed it and I like this fragrance and I give it a 9 out of 10 in my opinion and have a blessed day
Hey Michael. How many frags do you have? My limit is 15 😄, but you've been consistent with your comments on these channels for a long time.
I'm curious 👍
I have about 10 +a lot of decants GOD BLESS 🙏
@@michaelbullock8011
Discipline is good 😄 I'd have 1000+ if I didn't have it.
Pushing the envelope in the frag reviewers space👍
Whoa precious liquids guy made oud wood 🤯 . I tried oud symphony it’s really good, but the divine simplicity of oud wood is magnificent. All dupes/similar, designers and niche fragrances ,no matter how close yt videos say they are, don’t do it justice.
Great video
Awesome content
Мой любимый Уд Вуд. Я с ним с 2019 года. Хотелось бы познакомится с более ранними версиями.❤❤❤❤
Try asking what Richard thinks about the clones of oud wood. Really curious about how perfumers feel about clones that sell for much cheaper with a similar scent and performance and if the perfumer will be able to pick up the different nuances and what is used in replacement of pricier ingredients.
Does Richard made the parfum version that retail in march?
He has a great personality
I have a batch C32 of Oud Wood edp and it smells like trichloroethane. Is it supposed to have a chloroform like smell?
Wow to this video! this is not something you get to hear about, literally the whole story behind how a fragrance was created up until it was released even stories leading up to it my goodness thank you Ash and Richard
Oud Wood 🪵 Parfum, note break down please and thank you 🙏 lol 😅
500 bottles 😳
Absolutely
Never knew Brad pitt was such a good perfumer as well.
I'll admit, I must be the only person who does not like oud wood, but I appreciate the interview
Is Richard the nose for Oud Wood Parfum?
His voice and accent is exactly like King Julian from Madagascar and i mean this as a compliment!
I'm curious why Richard put up the Eau Sauvage behind him -- is it a reference of inspiration or does he maybe have something to do with its current formulation?
I think he just really likes it. He enjoys a bunch of old school fragrances
Imagen walking into a store and casualy ordering 500x Oud Wood for your friends and their friends
Why don’t you make the similar fragrance to OG oud Wood since you know the fragrance formula. I am sure everyone will love it
It's a shame that such a good scent is a shell of what it used to be. In the same vein, Thameen carved oud is excellent in every aspect also surprisingly Maison alhambras crafted oud is very good and a steal at for the price.
i didnt know Brad Pitt is a perfumer
great content just wish you werent rocking the gaming headset for the interview.
Why?
Ask him why Oud Wood lasts three hours.
The gold label one lasted 10 hours plus
@@georgeskanderbeg3242 Yup, I used a 50ml of that and then bought a 100ml of the new batches with the silver plate. Terrible performance, smells great though. I still have a 50ml of the Intense version that I wear sparingly. That one is a beast but not as mass pleasing, the Oud is actually real in that one I think.

When I first bought it, it was stronger and lasted longer. I’m pretty sure the new company reformulated it around 2019 when Tom Ford was bought out.
Mabe you buy from the corner 😂
Isn’t TF about to release a Parfum version of Oud Wood?
Watched the entire video for that reason only…
Got the fake one for $21 and smells 95%.Why pay $400 ???
CREED AND TOM FORD Dead and buried long time ago(in terms of price vs quality)😏✌️
Very nice scents, very poor longevity, so sad
Tom Ford should be ashamed of himself for charging ridiculously high prices for his cologne line. 🙄👎
Last year when they did the price hikes it was because He sold the company for I believe billions. He doesn’t even own it anymore
@@blankmandastankman He should have lowered the prices before he sold it.
