  • We're expanding our BrickLink Lego store with a couple of new Stack-ons, and to add an extra touch of professionalism we're replacing our old hand-written masking tape labels with printed labels.

Welcome to the StackOn club. I am about in the same place you are. That label tape is a bit pricey.

Ain't it though? Hah! I sure like the Stack-ons though. Very easy to get into.

Let me know what your solution is for positioning the stack-ons. I don't have a basement in Texas so I have to lean them against the wall. I don't want to make a lot of holes.

@@bozbricks2969 Right now I'm just using drywall anchors. I don't mind the holes so much. My plan going forward is to attach 2x4 wood planks horizontally to the studs, then use screws to mount the Stack-ons to the wood. That way, the wall only ends up with a couple of holes to mount the wood.

Yeah I thought of that as well. As my store is in a bedroom I just can't bring myself to put wood on the walls. I may try to buy the vertical track shelving system and use shallow shelves across the wall(s) spaced apart horizontally to put the stack-ons onto.

Looking great .. Like the new labels. You will have to tell me how you like the stackons vs the sorting flat trays. Does the stackon sit up well?

So far what I like most about the Stack-ons is how easy they are to access. The drawers are all right there and it's easy to dump stuff into and out of them, or just pull them out and take them somewhere else.
The downsides are (1) the drawers can get stuck if they get overfilled with parts, and (2) the units are a little precarious just sitting on a table. I could easily see knocking one over by accident. We plan on attaching these to the wall which should mitigate that problem.

@@pelargir1 what are the flat containers you use now? Where did you find them? I need better stirage for Friends and smaller pieces. Thanks

@@BricksBear they are Darice bead organizers. You can get them on Amazon (search for "darice plastic bead organizer") or at Wal-mart or Hobby Lobby. They have several different styles and sizes. They work well for getting started. It does make picking take a little longer because you have to find the right container, then the right spot within the container, then you have to pull the pieces out. Stack-ons are definitely faster, but Stack-ons are also much more expensive and take up more physical space. If you're just organizing your personal collection, I'd definitely recommend the bead organizers. They are great!
