This must've been one of the slow crowds he talked about in his recent special. Or the one before that. I remember him talking about how not a lot of people came to a few of his shows. Didn't think he was funny and just left.
Bc when he told this exact story in his special: Randy Writes a Novel. The crowd reaction was so much better compared to this. I'm talking as soon as he went "born in Chicago..." There was laughter.

@@nodirbekable 2:30 Randy never said he won a nobel prize for his biographies. He just said he and I quote, "won a nobel prize", and that's it.
Hemingway won the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature because of one of his narrative pieces.
There's no such thing as biographies being considered to be Nobel Prize in Literature worthy because biographies are just the re-telling of the author or another person's life. That category for Nobel Prize is only reserved for those who "produced the most outstanding work in an idealistic direction" (Hicks, L., 2017) and I don't think the biographies we have are applicable to be nominated in the Nobel Prize in Literature for something like that. Probably the Pulitzer Price (which Hemingway did won for the Fiction Prize in 1953), but not the Nobel Prize.

Full disclosure, only started reading Hemingway after I found out the sort of life he lived. Most writers will take their lives and try and make it more fantastical then put it into a story, Hemingway looked at his life and realized he needed to tone it down a bit in order for it to be believable to a reader. Think about the scene in John Wick 2 where the uncle is talking to his man about John and the guy kinda brushes him off until the uncle says "The one thing you need to know about all the stories you have heard about him are, if nothing else, watered down."

You missed the part where he lived in Key West, Florida and pissed off the City Council by stealing a bunch of bricks to make a wall around his house, bricks meant for the roads, but they didn't want to piss him off because he was a massive tourist attraction just by living in their town, so they gave him an enormous fine of... $12.
