I look at this, and all I can think about it where this puts Sista Spice. She was Suga Mama's older sister from the original show, in an episode called "Penny Potter", and was favoured over Suga Mama by their parents. She also made a living as a psychic and a con artist. She disliked her sister to the point she didn't even like her sister's descendants (she pretended to like Oscar during her time with him, but still didn't think much of him). This two-parter kind of... what does it mean for Sista Spice?
in the show if I remember correctly suga mama left the town young right? What if sistah spice is her adoptive sister? That would explain the favoritism towards spice or maybe sistah spice was her moms daughter from a different relationship
I get ya! They didn't want to animate a moving thing with a pattern on it so they just keyed out the space and put a static pattern underneath 😭 I mean I get it's a nightmare to animate but
I think the rodeo was actually near the end, considering it was only the brothers, Bobby and Oscar. With the little pig race just being something for the family to do in the meantime or as practice, considering one of the nieces getting to participate.
My line of thinking for why other women were allowed to participate and not Sugar Momma was because of the passage of time. Sugar Momma, her sister, and her mom were the only 3 girls in a family full of boys. In her dad's head, it was his job to make sure his girls grew up "right", meaning no doing boys stuff and only doing housework and chores. But after the mom passed away, and both Sugar Momma and her sister left the house, it was nothing but boys. Boys who had to bring in more women as they started growing their own families, which included even more girls. When his granddaughters started complaining, asking why they couldn't join a rodeo, how much do you wanna bet their dads said they couldn't, but grandpa came along and said, "just let them." And then those girls grew up teaching their daughters how to win a rodeo. The point I'm trying to make is that fathers raise their daughters much differently than how they treat their granddaughters. Fathers have the duty of making sure their kid is ready for adult life. Grandfathers have the duty of spoiling their granddaughters. That's why Sugar Momma wasn't allowed to compete, but sister-in-laws, her nieces and grand-nieces were. I'm certain her dad was still very much sexist towards his daughter-in-laws, but time and complaints about his attitudes wore him down.
I think that adds up, makes sense. My grandad treats me better than he treated my mom, he wasn't sexist or anything like that but he never raises his voice around me or anything like that, whereas he yelled a lot with her. My own dad yelled at me a lot when I was a kid, so I predict that the cycle will continue.
Yeah, this newer proud family stuff is BS. Liked the original show because at the time I didn't know how to record stuff and usually Kim Possible was next. I liked it.
