Cycled round arran and thought some parts were stunning.
Went up in microlight and was blown away. The waterfalls at the back of arran with seals on the beaches, the formation and contours of the land and the deer at goat fell, well stunning.
Trully amazing scenery...
Alsa craig, paddies stone is an old volcanic plug. Sea eroded the soil leaving what we see today.
Great short vids...
Lovely! Just released a bikepacking film of Arran myself yesterday! Looks like we had very different weather! Keep up the great videos :)
HOW EPIC IS IT??!!!
Can’t beat bikepacking in Scotland 🏴 🏕

@@bikepackingadventure7913 cheers mate! Appreciate it :) Plenty more films on the way!
Beautiful it is, tx for sharing!
That hostel in Lochranza only had 1 female bed when we visited in May. There is a campsite further up the road near to Arran Distillery and the have glamping pods with heating and electricity that start from 30 quid, the site also has communal toilets and showers. We really enjoyed the stay and the sunset views :)
I stayed at that same campsite in May this year, and it was great! Beware of the midges tho 😃
I got bitten on my head and face pretty badly! Four big whoppers!
Woohoo, I'm doing this in October, I can't wait! The weather will probably be dismal, but I don't caaaare!
Fave place in the world - perfect escapism after a day at work. Your vids are inspirational, cheers Katie.
ANDY, that is such a compliment! Thank you!!! :)
Travelled their with small B in July 2021. Incredible: deer, America mink, otters, chips, cake, cycling, wonderful people, swimming- just WOW!!
Love it! Arran is one of my favourite places. I’ve camped at your first idea for a camp site and actually proposed to my now wife on the beach there too. Look forward to rest of your videos!
I love your channel. Happiest bike channel ever.
Comparing my bikepacking adventures to yours, my videos look like a child filmed it 😂. I still have just as much fun though, so that’s all that matters
its that time of year feels chilly. i set off this morning with a quilted north face on did 25 mile loop ended up at home with just tshirt and shorts!!!
Ferry exciting indeed. Such nice views!
Ferry FERRY exciting!
I met Saiorse once on a London Gravel CC ride in the Chilterns. Very nice person. 🙂
We were there last week with family / dogs - lovely time even though the weather was hit and miss! Didn’t stop us from getting out and about and will definitely go back (maybe with bikes next time!). Looked like fun!
A mixed bag of weather and some stunning views, looks like a lovely trip.
Great Vid girls , that feeling of choking up because of the views does that to me all over Scotland ( daft i know ) ....... I love the place with a passion and glad it does it to others .
Watched this 8months ago and it made me want to do the route and finally bikepacked 5 ferries this week. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
This is awesome!!! How was it?!!! It’s amazing right?
@KatieKookaburra absolutely stunning! Fair to say weather was better overall than in the videos and an absolutely beautiful part of the world. I also found the camping spot you said you wished you'd used on the 1st day, great spot so thanks for that as well!
Your videos really want me to pack up my bike next summer, get onto a plane and do some riding in the UK. The landscapes you always show are so amazing! This one is extra special.
Do it!!!!
I spend all of my off time in nature. I tear up a lot when I see a beautiful scene.
Says 'but it's 97 quid' while wearing a Rapha jacket, LOL! Great video, definitely getting out there with my bike this year cos walking only gets us so far.
Ah this is my ‘home’ route - absolutely love how you’ve captured it. 😊
Absolutely perfection . That’s what you call a great days cycling
Cheers Tony.
Sunshine and rain, that’s Arran 😂 Great place and you looked like you all enjoyed it 😎
That pink-yellow-blue sweater of Saoirse is the bomb! 🎉
We go to Arran pretty regularly on the bank holiday week at the end of May. Always been amazing weather and never any midges to speak of.
I’ve lived on arran my whole life, it’s amazing to see people enjoy it so much.
another great vid, when you get together with the girls, great times to be had, take care, safe travels,
Longer videos please, loved this. I'm stuck at home in town getting ready for work and this gives a small taste of freedom! :)
Ay there’s two more videos coming from this trip! Next one up tomorrow (Weds) 4pm :) editing it now :)
The good thing is that there is no busses to annoy you .. Wonderful adventure.. Thanks for sharing..
Always good to see your smiling face. I answered your reply to my comment about the bus episode. I asked you a question, which you haven't answered yet. I hope no one is playing games with your UA-cam account.
Great wee video. I live on Arran. You could have dropped in for a coffee ☕
Beautiful landscape, sharing it with your mates ... doesn't get any better! Then there are those memories that one wants to just bottle up and keep forever ... some of them views on this ride must be right up there with the best of them. Thanks ... excellent camera work as usual!
THANK YOU!!!! Xx
Great place to go cycling went to Lewis a few years ago traffic was almost none existent only trouble is the high winds
Awesome fall adventure! Such amazing rides in your area. Thank you so much for taking us along.😎
Perfect scenery.
Plada is currently for sale, no hills for you though! My hubby painted the lighthouse there.
Thanks Katie for another great video.
Jane 😊
Jane no way?!! That’s awesome. When did he paint it??? It’s so beaut isn’t it?!!
It’s a beautiful place. No running water and completely off grid. He was there for the summer about 12 years ago.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip 👍🏼.
Take care.
Jane 😊
Great adventure Katie lovely scenery and great gravel roads 🚴🤩👍🚴♀️
When you were cycling past Lamlash Golf club, that view We see every time we visit our Family who live up near the the activity centre at the end, Prospect Hill Cottage and Studio..
It’s STUNNNNNNING!!!! 😍😍😍
@@KatieKookaburra did you get to see many Seals ?
You should check out our local club, Isle of Arran Cycling Club. Great to have some local knowledge on routes. ( you wouldn't have taken that wrong turn at the start, its the junction after you are looking for!)
Arran is so worth it. It's like a pocket version of Scotland. The midgets however can be quite a challenge in the summer...great video, thanks
Nice video Katie, might put this on my go to list 😁
ah Glasgow is it you can bugger right off then, it has be bloody cold there. i went round the NC500 this in my camper but ride it next year that is absolutely beautiful.......
Seem like a amazing Trip. Cool Roads and scenery 👍✌️🚴♂️
Vinegar is also useful for making your tyres better in the wet and as a degreaser…
This was lovely Katie! This video actually made me cry because the last time I was in Arran was with a family member who has since passed away and we stayed in the exact same hostel, even looked like the same room haha, so many views in your video that reminded me of being with them and made me have a little cry but thank you so much for allowing me to see these places again ❤️
Fantastic video Katie.Amazing location and great fun.
Awesome vlogs about the Isle of Arran, love the place. It’s described as Scotland in miniature. I went there on a trekking trip 6 years ago, trekked up to the highest point in Arran it rained every day I was there but I loved it, would defo go back again and do a cycling trip. Hope you have a ace weekend in and out of the saddle 😀👍
I've cycled 4,000 miles ish around Scotland over time, Amazing place, but when it rains it rains 😂. 🏴
Nice one Katie. Just across the qater from me. Next time you should try out some of the roads in south ayrshire. Electric brae will mess with your head
Aww mint video katie ,looks a fun trip ,can't beat a good bivi well done lady's 👏 X
I did my first cycle around Arran a few weeks ago but in brilliant sunshine and no wind so total respect for managing that in wind rain and with loaded bikes! I live in Tarbert Loch Fyne so excited to see you passing my HOUSE in the next video 🙂
Hi hi Katie another good video l went all around Scotland in 2017 up to the isle of sky by couch good country side summer would be better looks like a big bee sting take care
good to see you were joining in the RooT relay at the weekend
Video coming soon on that!! :)
@@KatieKookaburra great!
Did this in July at 27/28 degrees. Not the best way to recover from Covid! but epic route and sights. Last ferry and did the String road over the middle of Arran to escape the wind to find the very same wild camp spot you stopped at. Make sure you have your midgy net for summer wild camp as they descended on me big time! Dead calm crossing from Lochranza following morning. Sandwich Station at Lochranza Ferry a must stop for breakfast. Gravel return next year!
Ferry Good.. Arran is just Boooootiful!
Katie..what Bikes are the Gals riding?
Would avoid returning in summer unless you have confidence in your midge protection. Their season is mid May through to September.
Good shout! Ok, I will return in April :)
Hi katie.take care
The rain is softer on the Scottish West Coast.
I was up there the week before you - go every September for a week - large areas of the roads had been resurfaced since last year.....It was a lovely surprise - Fabulous stretches of tarmac along the Machrie coast line up to Lochranza and even the climb out of Lochranza. Very exposed on the coast road to the wind depending which way its blowing but worth it.. midgie/black fly were a nightmare this year though if you stopped too long.. Very jealous
I cycled a lot of that route whilst staying on Arran……that first bit was oh so good until the path went vague and the bog began. I said the same thing when I got to the top of it….. “oh yes gravel!!” Awesome vid. 👍🏼
I love the music!
This Video gave me lovely memories of a trip i did a few years ago to there in Arran. The summer there is fabulous! did you see the peacocks?
The gravel riding there is absolutely INSANE too!!! Thank you Katie, for sharing this with the world ^_^
You're my new favourite UA-camr for sure . Amazing editing
비도 오는군요^^ 영국이 이제 추워지는데 따뜻하게 준비해서 다니세요^^
Ride safe katie.
Wow …your pretty close….🤘🏴❤️
Where are you based?!!
@@KatieKookaburra ….Near Paisley Katie….I cycled to ardrossan last year a few times …you get the ferry to arran from there…I got cycle route 7 on my doorstep so I can do Troon and Ayr and Saltcoats and port Glasgow from the house….….I’m heading up Glencoe tomorrow for couple of days Munro ing though no bike…enjoy yourselves…Arran is Bonnie x
Great to see lovely fit young ladies enjoying my home turf of the Clyde Coast
Awesome adventure
Great trip even in Oct weather. Love ur helly Hansen neck buff too 😊
Been wanting to ride over in Arran for AGES. Kinda jelly
I was lucky enough to cycle round Arran twice this year, its just incredible👌The first time was in August and I did a 78 mile figure 8 route which was just mindblowing and again in September when I did the anticlockwise route of 56 miles right round the island! I'm lucky to live only 50 miles away and I could pick the best weather days at short notice, if you can get there in nice weather you will be in cycling heaven👍Awesome video Katie!
Please do more videos of what you eat. Keep up the awesome content. Cheers
Daily or on the bike??
@@KatieKookaburra Both please.
You could just do the Hebridean Way. Islay worth a visit. Brian Palmer of Washing Machine Post lives there. No wind like Islay or The Shetlands.
Yessss Jess has done it and was talking about that. Would LOVE to do it!!
@@KatieKookaburra there is the Wild Atlantic Way in ireland but its longer. Anything facing the Atlantic is prob best done in Summer
Soooooo, jealous. 😂 Yet another awesome trip 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Andy it was awesome!!! And two more days to come and they were even better!!!!! It was just awesome and cost next to nothing!! X
@@KatieKookaburra Can’t wait for the next part. The views look amazing. Hope the weather improves though 🤣
It’s a wee shame that I only seen this today , just across the water on your next ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig if you turn right I go wild camping in my motorhome .Anyway just a couple of miles away up the road you come to a very small village called Skipness and a absolutely smashing place called the Skipness seafood shack. Check it out the next time you are here 😊.
Cheers James.
I have absolutely loved your Five Ferries videos, so inspiring. Katie, can I ask which Patagonia rain jacket you are wearing?
Spent 10 days hiking and exploring on Arran in May 2015. A beautiful place to explore. It was a fantastic trip!! Your video inspired me to want to rent bikes the next time we visit.
No danger of getting whacked by a bus's wing mirror there !
Have a great time and watch out for any "Driverless Cabs" being controlled by Ai
Stay safe Katie & the campsite "bottlers" ☀️ ⛰
the rock come from ailsa craig, the curling stones are made in my childhood of Mauchline in Ayrshire
Get some aerial shots next summer please !
Damm stop living my dream then posting vids of it lol great vid by the way thanks :)
You can just live it through me x
You defiantly need to check out the Isle of Man, big sky's, great climbs and the home to just a few very quick pro cyclists.
There's a reason they live here, and its not just the tax 😉
That’s another place I’ve always wanted to go!!!!
I also highly recommend taking the ferry to Isle of Mull, cycling to Iona across the southern road and then through the western side of the island to Tobermory. Some of the views, sudden valleys, steep descents, emerging on the edges of corries and cycling next to sheer walls of granite were something else!
Isle of man and isle of Wight are often overlooked by cyclists and tourists to Britain which is such a Shame with so much there.
You were on my favourite isle of Arran! So glad you have discovered such a wee gem and so close to the mainland. You went the long route round the island, next time go up the east coast for real mountain views. Can’ wait for your next episode since I know the area. My last venture thereabouts was the four ferry trip with my son, his son and old grandad (me at 81) Fab viewing thanks!
Starting to think those tyres are fit for the bin. Maybe try Vittoria Mezcals instead. I’ve had zero flats in 2 years on those.
It was the same puncture that hadn’t fully plugged from last week. All good now 😎😎😎
Not bad, not bad.
Jealousy reigns. You always seem to have such fun. I'm waiting for an invitation to join you; when are you coming to the US to enjoy the road and gravel biking as well as the climbs in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginny?
It will happen! 😎
scotlands amazing to cycle around you should do the nc500
Hold my rain jacket…ua-cam.com/video/zaGF8tPMIy8/v-deo.html
Don't forget the midges net and spay in the summer 🙃
U lucky girl nice place
Lovely video. Slight change of subject. I know you have done the Everest challenge up and down Holmfirth road but have you rode from Dovestone res up to Chew reservoir? A friend of mine did it last year as an Everest challenge. I think it was 36 times 😳
Ahh that gravel section??? I got the QOM on that YEAAAAAAARS ago and haven't been back since haha
@@KatieKookaburra yep that's the one.
Scotland is beautiful - but the rain, uhhhh! Glad you enjoyed it. In summer I suspect that water would still be freezing though 😂. Loved the vid.
Another idea katie is do your loop of arran, ferry 2 to Clainog on from Lochranza. then loop Kintyre, and stay over in Campelltown, your also then on your gateway to the Isles - Islay, Jura from Kennacraig. You can even get to Colonsay, idea for 2023 - Welcome to my part of the world, FINALLY. Sorry about the several comments
It's a tropical island....usually...honest...😉
You’d love it over here in the Canadian Rockies. We are having awesome fall weather so i’ll be cycling through the Bow Valley trail on Saturday. Hopefully no bears! 🤟🏻😊
Went to Arran in may for a couple days and omg was it lovely! The descent from Lochranza towards Brodick is something else! And the parking at the bottom is a great camping spot as well :D
Yassssss!!! Just beaut eh. Defo want to go back - maybe even this year in me van if we get some nice weather days
@@KatieKookaburra even without nice weather, put on some gaelic folk music, get a book about fairies, trolls and giants tossing boulders from hilltop to hilltop, get some whisky from the two distilleries and you'll be in another world anyway :)
Brilliant as usual 🙂 and a am just across the water 🌊
Wow what a view. and good timing too, was looking at Isle of Arran last night for my JOG2LE ride next year. I guess the ferries are very easy to hop on. question: did you pay cash or purchase tickets online Katie?
We paid on card at the ferries but you can pre-pay. Prepare yourself for the price though… ITS CHEAP!!!!!
Tickets are return , valid for a week I think . Car park if needed is secure ( keep parking voucher on your person as you can't drive out without it ) bikes are free on ferry.
Aye.....come back next summer.......camp at Blackwaterfoot beach..............
Oh wow that scenery is unreal, Great video! What's the music please?
Hello friends! 👏👏👋
I hope there was men that suffered while you ladies enjoyed yourself. Did you know that Scotland was the first place that the Irish migrated to?
That's amazing! How do you live so close to so many amazing views!!
I drove a few hours up to the first ferry :)
Katie is that a new patagonia jacket youve got and which jacket is it looks smart
