Sew Many Miles: Cycling the length of the United Kingdom with a sewing machine

- At the start of 2024 I cycled the length of the United Kingdom with a sewing machine. It took me 6 weeks, making bikepacking bags for people all across the UK. It was a journey of meeting fellow passionate cyclists, other creatives and people invested in the silly sewing journey. This short film tells that story.

Beautiful, silly, endearing and fun. Thanks so much for sharing! The color grading, music...everything was very enjoyable!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Sometimes my UA-cam feed throws up a corker. Loved the video
Absolutely loving the passion in this peddling project!
Cycling is about meeting people, engaging with your surroundings (including sheep), eating lots of cake and resilience. I think you captured all of these things brilliantly. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I love your humble and happy attitude. The sentences are poems really, and the audio blends with the music so well. All while question gender stereotypes by doing something traditionally done by women. I miss riding so much, although learning about transport planning is also worthwhile.
My only criticism of the film is that it's not like 4 times as long.
This was wonderful. Love the concept. I'm sure everyone that got a bag will cherish it forever.
Sewing truly is one of the great crafts, really timeless IMO.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful film 💚🚲🪡🧵
Shout out to Newton 💪🏻
Absolutely loved this video!
this deserves so many more views, keep posting
I love the concept, and as an owner of practical, but very heavy, touring bikes, respect the effort it takes to tour the UK with such a burden.
Utterly bonkers and totally wonderful! Best cycling film I have seen in a long while. Bravo!!!
Thanks so much! In hindsight it's a miracle the sewing machine made it over all those bumps
Beautiful adventure!
Fantastic idea and video. Thanks!
First time I have seen a sewing machine cycle anywhere. Well done,
What a wonderful and well put together film.
Made my morning and put a smile on my face. Thank you.
Please keep sewing, cycling and making more videos. Fabulous 🖐️🌎🚴
@@jsiedlecki5331 Thank you for the kind words 🤗
I’m a very (very) new Brompton owner who just wanted to change my London commute so bought a folding bike. I have somehow ended up here and it’s absolutely beautiful. Thank you for adding a new “things to do before I die” item to my list!
Welcome to the fold.
I’m the proud owner of 2012 orange (RAL 2004) H6R from new (now it’d be called a C-Line Explore High).
To Ben,
Wonderful film, love the sewing, say hi to Newton for me. I’d love to see some more sewing-related content.
Must be a massive coincidence but 5 days ago I bought myself a singer heavy duty to start my hobby of making bike packing gear and camping gear I even pondered travelling with the machine when I get good at it but thought it would be hard, Ben just proved it’s not a stupid idea 😂
wonderful ❤
What a great idea for a trip and what a delightful film you made of it. Thankful that this time the algorithm suggested something I thoroughly enjoyed.
Its a tuff old ride, where most people are trying to lighten the load. You keep that "brick" with you the whole way, GOOD ON YOU.
Stay happy and its been a fantastic video.
What a wonderful film!
As one filmmaker who makes their own bike bags (but doesn’t film it!) to another - congrats!
What an amazing bikepacking film. Probably the best I've seen so far. Epic work!
So epic !
What a video 💪
Every time I come across a cycling video from there I will watch it. This was interesting and fun to watch. We are from Texas but have been to Scotland a few times visiting our daughter in Glasgow. We took day trips to Edinburgh, Loch Lomand, Loch Ness and Stirling. Love the beauty! It’s sure different from hot, dusty West Texas! Enjoyed this video! Take care!
Brilliant wee film! As a quilt maker & Mountain biker I found this video most enjoyable!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely brilliant. Well done young man.
Great film! And gorgeous nature!
Absolutely brilliant! I’m glad I found this, or it found me, and sad I missed out on this adventure and bags as it happened. Hopefully I get to see more stuff you make down the road, videos and bags. I’ve definitely subscribed now.
From one Ben to another, thanks.
That's so beautiful and uplifting. Thank you =)
Reminds me of the book Round Ireland with a fridge
Definitely an inspiration!
So so so good
Good job Ben❤🫡
Fantastic work and journey! Great shot at 11:17 - I'm lucky to be the Ranger for that area where the path runs along the coast - one of the best views in East Lothian!!
Beautiful,fun, adventure
Brilliant! Thank you.
Well I really enjoyed this video it was the trailer that made me watch and I'm glad I did well done mate and your bike bags look amazing atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
That was so freaking awesome. Keep it up. 💯
Epic journey!
Beautiful, a gem!
Delightful film.
I have subscribed as I'm interested to see what you do next atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Brilliant
well done!! Sewing is so cool. I make bags just like yours, but not with such pretty colours!!
nice videos, thanks for sharing !!
Amazing . I have the Cohoxc too. I did a lot of ways with it.
Keep smiling. 👍
It's really amazing what that trailer can do. Pretty unwieldy at 30kg+ though!
What beautiful images and pretty bike with equipment in pastel colours undoubtedly reveal an artist. I was wondering if you had filmed with a Fujifilm because these soft tones in a Polaroid style are interesting. It's so nice to hear the birds and congratulations on the choice of song, it's like being transported into a dream^^ I've just discovered your channel and I'm going to check out the other videos. Thank you for sharing this creative and inspiring 😊 PS how much does the trailer weigh?
Thank for the lovely comment. I'll be honest this is the first time I've filmed an adventure, so you won't find much else on my channel. I used a Fujifilm XT30 which is made for photography, but the videos didn't come out half bad. The trailer itself is about 10kg, and at its heaviest it was carrying 30kg of stuff!
What filming equipment do you use?
Brillant. Sub'd ;
beautiful :)
Many thanks!
Sweet man .. well filmed what camera gear you use and colour luts very nice
It was shot on a Fuji XT30, which isn't really a camera for video but can do 4K FLog. It was graded in davinci resolve using dehancer.
This is awesome!! Can I ask what sewing machine that is?
It's the Singer Heavy Duty 4411. Quite cheap and works a treat!

So, during your journey you made some money by sewing bags for the people you met, right ? A splendid way to make your ability come to your help for sure.
Breathtaking views, loved the video !
Pretty much, I priced the bags to fund the trip. The 26 bags covered the cost of materials, the trailer and food!
If you ever travel the length of Norway, i order one or two bags for my bikes :) welcome..
I'd consider travelling Norway as a pretty great justification to do another sewing trip 😊
