  • Welcome to Scotland, or more specifically the Hebridean Isles. Where we will embark on a bike packing adventure across ten Scottish islands from the Isle of Barra to the Isle of Lewis. Having recently invested in a Sonder Camino gravel bike the Hebridean way seemed like the perfect test ride to check out the bike and test the thighs!
    Grateful as always for you tuning in, any questions about the route or packing please ask away and I'll do my best to answer them. Happy venturing!

      @@TheGirlGoneNomad hi, sorry for the late reply!
      I cycled it in April, a few years ago. I've had a lot of great weather Aprils in Scotland, a country that I love.
      The Inner Hebrides are great islands to cycle too, Mull, Arran and Skye standing out from the larger ones but the small ones are stunning too. For a short taster of the Inner Hebrides, you could try the 5 Ferries Route.
      On the mainland and residing in the north of England, the Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway have some great quiet roads with great scenery and aren't too far away.
      It's hard to go wrong in Scotland!
      Have you any trips in mind at the moment?
      Cheers, and all the best 🚵‍♂️👍

      @@tonypaddler Thanks Tony, you’ve given me loads of ideas there! Yer I agree, spring is a great time to head to Scotland, avoid the midges and hopefully get some sunshine. Have pencilled in Scotland for May, would love to Mull and Skye, but before then I’d like to get out into Europe again. Heard good things about Galloway too. What about yourself?

      Hi. I was sure that I had replied to this post 🤔🤷‍♂️
      Did you get to Europe this year, and/or Scotland in May?
      I'm going to the Borders next week for three days with my touring bike, then the week after I'm going back up to Scotland with my gravel bike for another three days. Not too sure where yet but maybe Galloway Forest Park as it's littered with fireroads (and midges 😢)
      Then the week after that, given a half decent weather forecast, I'm taking my touring bike to Mull and the Ardnamurcham peninsula for about eight days.
      I was hoping to be cycling in Europe by now but due to a knee injury that'll have to be later this year now, I'm using Scotland as a tester 😁
      Cheers, and all the best with your travels 🚲⛺👍

    If you ever go back, you have to go see Luskentyre beach on Harris 😍 (half a dozen or so miles south of Tarbet, the Gaelic name is Losgaintir and is sign posted as that name), especially when the tide is out. She is an absolute beauty and is the most famous beach on the chain of islands.

      @TheGirlGoneNomad  8 місяців тому

      Hi Mark, thanks for the recommendation, that sounds like a great excuse to book another ferry! I really wanted to spend more time on Harris, it was certainly my favourite of the islands we cycled on that trip. Have you also cycled the route?

      @@TheGirlGoneNomad I’ve never cycled it but I’ve been to Lewis and Harris a few times through my work. The beaches on Lewis and Harris hare stunning. Check out Luskentyre, Seliebost, Scarista, Hushinish, Tolsta, and Garry beaches (both side by side) as well as many others on the islands.
