  • Today we have a 2014 Dodge Durango. The customer wants front struts replaced due to poor ride quality. This one is 4x4 so it is a little more time consuming to do than a 2wd model. Full disclosure: consider removing the driver's side axle if yours is 4x4. It CAN be done leaving it in, but in retrospect we feel it probably would have been easier to remove it. This process should be the same on 2011 Dodge Durango, 2012 Dodge Durango, 2013 Dodge Durango, 2014 Dodge Durango, and 2015 Dodge Durango.

I'm at the point of needing more clearance on my '13 SXT AWD to get the fork of the strut to clear anything. I have not twisted the wheel all the way to one side, though. Maybe that's the difference maker.

Place the but at the end of the upper ball joint bolt to prevent damaging the threads or you won't be able to get the nut back on. 😅

Gabriel shocks are worst. It was installed on my dodge Durango 2012. Not working at all on bumpy roads. Planning to replace with Mopar shocks soon.

How much would the labor cost be for all 4 sides? I need to get mine done but I don’t wanna get ripped off

My friend and I used this video to replace the whole struts, L&R straight up swap with Gabriels this evening. After we got it done we noticed the ride height in the front was a few inches higher in the front and the back seemed lower. I did some “Googling” and found out that the springs are what actually affect ride height. My question is was there some type of adjustment we needed to do to the springs and how do we adjust them? We also replaced the rears with Mopar shocks. I just need to know if we need to remove them to compress the springs and then reinstall. We still have the stock ones if needed to measure off of them. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated b/c that driver side beat our a**
