@TheGamingCasanova “Please get your facts straight” 💀
@TheGamingCasanova Don't be so rude.
I was never into the whole Godzilla thing, but the moment I heard this movie was happening I felt so bizarrely happy for James.
the whole Hollow Earth thing goes WAY back to a cancelled Godzilla movie called: Bride of Godzilla? where they discovered a hollow earth filled with giant monsters
wow, I'll have to look that up.
I’d say it goes back even further than that, at least back to Edgar Rice Burroughs and his Pellucidar book series.
While true and very cool, I don't think they were referencing that with this movie or anything. Hollow Earth was a major plot point in Kong: Skull Island. This was just carried over from there.
Couldn't wait for your review. Just watched it and enjoyed it very much
Cant wait to see your review of Godzilla Minus One
they made Godzilla into such an amazing anti-hero ... and all they had to do to make it work even more was that little laugh he gives in the battle scene.
Out of character he will smile or even nod etc in his fights throughout history so him smiling after catching kong with the atomic breath once was in character he never would do that at the end for even a truce he will just roar like he did lol
When I saw that I was actually a little bit terrified. I was intimidated like, really really quick
@@DeLone14L When a nuclear T-Rex is smiling, no one will judge you if you are afraid.
I’m a long time masssssive Godzilla and kong fan and this movie is everything I wanted it to be. The 7 year old in me is beyond pleased. I loved the humans especially Jia and the monsters are incredible
I literally said the same thing on Facebook. I loved it.
I'm right there with you bro!
i kept thinking "is this like monster island?" during the whole hollow earth scene
Yep. me too.
Looked like a Pelucidar rip off to me.
@@SumDumGy Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Lost World by HG Wells and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, respectively, precede the Pellucidar series.
Tadoka Inamo, Indeed, they do. I just don’t recall the design of their inner worlds being spherical in nature like these two are, where there is an entire convex living surface with a “center sun.”
I loved it! I wish we could've seen what the GvK novel and graphic novel Dominion showed, though. Where it showed Godzilla being a real king for the other kaiju, solving border skirmishes between their territories, stopping them from eating nukes that humans made, and saving them from being kidnapped by fringe human groups.
Love when kong shoved his axe in godzilla's mouth. A great reference to the original film when it was a tree instead of an axe.
“it’s cinemassacre’s monster madness, godzillathon” i was 9 when i started watching your videos. now i’m 24.
this felt like what rampage should have been
Rampage actually entertained me
For what it was I actually enjoyed Rampage alot
I dunno why you’d even compare when both had an equal amount of fun action
I just watched it and I feel the same. Excellent comment. I was alittle disappointed and I’m not sure why.
@@yuyaricachimuel555 not saying they didnt have fun i liked godzilla vs kong just making an observation
"Let them fight. IN THE DAY. And they did."
All these years later. James you are a true King, legend and man.
dang james made a video faster than i get get onto hbomax
At least you have HBO Max. All these streaming services are becoming what we all were running away from. A biiiiig cable bill. Having Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ is adding up to a big cable bill already. I am hoping for big mergers soon so I don't have to pay 10 different bills.
@@gamingjay141 disney bundle?
@@gamingjay141 ya, i wish more of new releases had multiple streaming options
@@gamingjay141 not really I'm only subbed to Netflix and I only pay for Amazon prime yearly and Amazon video comes with the sub so your not technically paying a monthly bill your paying it yearly
"It begs for a remake."
- James Rolfe, September 19th, 2008. In his Godzillathon video #3.
"Kept ya waiting huh?"
@TheGamingCasanova By remake I don’t think he meant them making the exact same movie again. He just meant putting Godzilla against Kong again with updated effects lol
4:47 Aged like a fine milk 😂
For real though, Minus One broke the mold and really elevated the genre to new heights.
I can see it now. James Rolfe in "Godzilla vs Kong". He appears in his full AVGN battle attire, jumps into the final fight, blows Kong and Godzilla to bits with his Super Scope, and reigns supreme as the true King of the Monsters!
That would be the greatest thing ever
And then we get a post-credits tease of Super Mecha Death Christ battling Death Mwauthzyx.
"[He] jumps in and blows Kong and Godzilla." This would be an entirely different film. Idk, I'd probably watch it.
@@veritasnon Anything taken out of context can mean anything you want.

Brutally stunning and visually awesome
Visually stunning yes, and that's about it lol.
@@BeHempy Saying "lol" automatically invalidates your opinion.
@@voldy3565 How so? I become amused thinking about how much of a dolt you have to be to like it.
@@BeHempy you're one ofthe only ones who doesn't like it.
This movie was so big and so dumb, but also so fun. One of those rare movies for me where I can start at almost any point and find myself just kicking back and enjoying the ride. I hope this universe continues to grow, it has the potential to become something truly special.
I haven't watched cinemassacre in a while, and wow James looks 10 years younger here for some reason.
Yes the last fight starts at night but ends in daylight. And even when they're fighting at eight it is in a city so brightly lit with neon and other lights that you can see the monsters perfectly! This is by far the best monster verse movie so far. And I hope for more please let them renew the contract!
By far? It was silly mindless action, which is OK, but it seems it's all studios can do anymore.
I wouldn't say by far. I had more fun with King of the Monsters, I could see the fights just fine.
@@mattstorm6568 what movie in this monster verse was better? I did like Kong Skull Island alot.
@@randybobandy9828 To be honest, any of them. Let me be clear I find them all to be pretty bad but this one was just way too silly.
Only thing I thought was neat was MechaG but he's only in it briefly.
Randy Bobandy I also liked skull island. It was OK but not great. But I can say that at least it was mostly daylight monster scenes. But come on it doesn't compare two Godzilla versus Kong.
Seeing James get crushed underfoot by two kaiju in mid-F Bomb would have been legendary.
When king did the tree in the mouth thing it was all I needed to see
Seen both Godzilla and Kong at the cinema, I hope to see this one there as well, as these films should be seen.
Fans for years are still hoping for a Godzilla vs Gamera movie
That would be heat!
James, your review of this movie is the only one that matters on UA-cam, seeing as you’re one of, if not the only, person who has watched and appreciates the original Japanese Godzilla films. Great video mate!
I recommend up from the depths. He reviews monster films, including the originals. But Cinemassacres POV matters a lot since he watched the original films.
0:30 The Roadkill Kong Line Is Back 😂
James is a saint, turned down a Godzilla role for his 2nd daughters birth. We don't deserve you.
The sad part about this film is we will never get a rematch unless they will make another.
Kong never stood a chance
@@101mrcrazyman Kong actually stand-up against big G but since Godzilla is the protagonist that will always be the result.
@@Jhayzer021 kong was clearly the protaganist in this film so your argument makes no sense
Let's be honest, Kong has nothing on Godzilla.. "realistically" it would be atomic breath and kong would be split in half.
@@Jhayzer021 Kong is the protagonist so that argument makes no sense, and they had to give Kong a MAJOR buff for him to even stand a chance at holding his own here.
Notice that they had to give him a magical axe to even put up a decent fight.
I definitely appreciated the under 2hrs because I was able to watch it before I go to work🤗
James you really are a pop culture icon now! The fact that they offered you a cameo is awesome! 👏

Movie was trash lol
I like the sound of Kong having more screentime. Godzilla already has him beat by one movie. It seems MonsterVerse is gonna mostly be Godzilla with a little bit of Kong, so showing more of him would make the franchise a little more varied.
Hi there from Japan! I love your uploads, you are famous in Japan. DESTROYAH!!!
I've been waiting for your review! I remember you said you want a rematch of this in Godzillathon, and you finally got it!
I would have flipped if I saw James Rolf in this movie 😱😲
The secret monster I like to describe the look of it as a zombified creature being resurrected and risen from the grave.
No wonder it looks scary
Imagine if megalon or king Cesar live in the hollow earth. Thad be an epic call back to the original.
Megalon would be awesome. I always loved his vocals.
Also Anguirus, Manda, Gorosaurus, Kumonga, Kamacuras, Ebirah, Varan, and the Meganulons. Maybe even throw in Gezora, Ganimes, Kamoebas, Dogora, Gabara, and Maguma.
Imagine if Megalon appeared in the Monsterverse and Godzilla does his iconic dropkick.
@@nicholaslienandjaja1815 anguirus is dead in the monsterverse i think. his skeleton can be seen in godzillas lair in kotm
@@deskrazenia8206 Most of the monsters have died or had more of their kind exist before so they can bring back Anguirus easily. In the Showa era for instance, there were two Rodans (their baby beiing implied to be the one who fought and later allied with Godzilla), at least three or four Mothras, two Godzillas, and two Anguirus.
Missed you James. It's always nice to listen to you talk about Godzilla.
You were the one who got me into his original movies back when you did the Cinemassacre Monster madness - Godzillathon!.
