Wow... This channel, and hobby have grown up so much. To me Flitetest just isnt the same though I miss the days when they were a small fan based youtube channel with chad kapper, josh scott, and david windestal. Don't get me wrong its still a great show, but nothing will ever beat those memories of dorky josh, and david joking around flying planes in there backyard. Good job FliteTest hope your living the dream, and thank you for your contribution to this hobby :)
+brent v Josh Scott never left. He's just busy with other things. And without Peter we wouldn't have two thirds of the planes that were released lately...
I recently got one. What amazes me is that if it's not too windy, this thing is like a tripod in the sky! Rock-solid static video shots, you can't tell them from stills unless a car drives by.
Phantom 5: "Hey, while you were at work I went out and took a couple photos and videos, they're on your Facebook and have 50 likes BTW you're out of milk."
+You_just Get the DJI Phantom 4 now with a HUGE DISCOUNT: click.dji.com/M9gs8Vy_HO-V4260?pm=link You have to hurry though! Price will rise to 1799,- soon
You should to a test to see how well it will track the Kraken. And/Or do the Hunt for Red October thing where while it is tracking something like the Kraken, fly another Kraken between the camera and its target and see if you can get it to follow the wrong one.
the getting into a little trouble thing you mention somewhere near the 4 minute mark depends on the situation you're in, if you're a dumbass like me who tried to fly the phantom in seriously windy conditions the return to home feature isn't going to do much. in normal situations though it comes in dead handy
I think the go to mode is more like auto pilot than actual go to a specific place, so that you can have it flying on its own while you operate the camera. So you send it in a direction, and also an angle (ascending, descending, or level) and it will continue in that direction, at the speed you set, until you tell it to stop. So you can operate the camera while it is doing that. Very cool item though.
+Freek Roderik Get the DJI Phantom 4 now with a HUGE DISCOUNT: click.dji.com/M9gs8Vy_HO-V4260?pm=link You have to hurry though! Price will rise to 1799,- soon
+dittestk numeteen no it's not going to rise above $1399 it's everywhere including best buy they are in competition w/ other products other companies releasing drones like this at $899
How about a FliteTest DIY version? A fixed wing that could follow when the target is moving and initiate an orbit around the target when stationary would be cool.
Hi Alex & Josh, @10:12 you have the P4 active tracking Josh and you mention that even when he has sort of same colour scheme as the ground the P4 still tracks HIM. That is good but what if (again @10:12) he was to walk very close behind the guy filming it, would the tracking pick up him instead? Hope you get what I mean? :) cheers MR
What ever happened to Josh's diy Inspire "beater"? I do have one, it's the dragonfly electrohub with the ardupilot control board and tarrot 2 axis gimbal. It will pick up a phantom 3 quite easily, and locks into a gps hover more solid than any phantom I've ever seen. Plus the tail tilt makes it much more agile.
+OneManGeekSquad Yes, but you are still missing a few features probably. HD downlink, three axis gimbal, ground camera for indoor stability, ... As far as I know they tried to come up with something that comes close to all the features, but you had to put so much money into it that it wasn't the "inexpensive beater" they hoped it to be anymore.
I'm in a dilemma right now. Can you please help me? I'm about to go off to a holiday and I need a drone by next week. I live in the UK. Would you recommend buying: 1. second hand DJI phantom 4 (the basic version) from my cousin for 400 pounds? 2. A second hand phantom 4 Pro from my cousin for 750 pounds? 3. The new mavic mini FROM Currys pc world with 3 batteries for 460 pounds? I'm on a bit of a budget and I don't think number 2 is worth 750. Thanks alot in advance. Your advice would mean the world to me :)
can y'all test to see if the phantom 4 can track a 250 size quad? would be a great way to get some footage of racing quads. maybe test on a small circle track so the phantom doesn't have to chase very much, phantom would be in center of circle and just yaw to follow.
Hey guys. Nice review. I wanted to second the idea below from Nico Myers "You should try tracking a (RC) plane with it!". But I also wanted to add, would Mr. Fury be OK with having it follow his RV-8? Specifically, I'm wondering what the Phantom 4 will do when the object it's tracking goes above the horizon, and into open sky. I'm thinking RC Aircraft may be too small to effect a good test, and that a full size aircraft would give the best chance to see what happens. I've got my Phantom 3 Pro, and I love it - for what it is: "a Flying Camera which can be positioned anywhere" It's not for the "experience of flight" for that I've got my Hubson 107, and now my Apprentice E-15 set up with FPV. (I'm a staunch FPV'er). I don't see enough in the Phantom 4, though, to jump on that bandwagon. My brother, however, who just got a second hand Phantom 3 Advanced, is now thinking of dumping his advanced, and his Blade 350, in order to pick up a Phantom 4. After this review I can see why he's thinking that way. Keep up the good work. And let us know what Mr. Fury says. ;) InCrypt
i have now a fair share of experience with drone flying. and after having owned the XuGong and seen it as a really capable cameradrone, i now think the Phantom 4 is finally ready to be bought and used.
Can you have a phantom track a person, and then another phantom track the phantom that's tracking the person? Basically, can you track another phantom?
DJIGO 4. Vs Litchi I love that you can map out an entire Mission ahead of tim on Litchi then go to the location and press play and it goes through entire mission perfectly. What are your Plus/minus for both apps? Your preference ??
I think you should try to make a scale type flying castle. It should of course have an awesome drawbridge, and a rc dragon with a red mouth prop to fight.
+Infinite Growth I just purchased one a month ago and it was totally an amazing decision! This is a must have device! I have started filming videos and the quality is amazing!
I want to see a review on a quad for the first time flyer. I have bought a few Walmart quads that are just to unstable and the slightest wind makes them crash. If I was going to invest a $200 or $300 in a RTF model what do you recommend? Thank you love the channel.
That just cost me a bunch of money. Nice test! And thanks for the info on leafless trees - I was kind of wondering if the collision avoidance could handle that, and now I know it can't be totally relied on in those situations. I'm going to assume that overhead cables might also trip it up, so I guess we'll still need to plan around those. The review doesn't say much about the camera, but it looks better and less weirdly distorted than the P3P (which although not fisheye in appearance can be a little strange at times). Anyone want to buy my old P3P?
+Charlie Dancey psp3 owner, and i am waiting till the 5. No point throwing the baby out with the bathwater yet. I want 360 avoidance before i buy another one
+Aeroworks Productions Indeed, this drone is great. I bought one from the DJI website which makes for a fast delivery and sharp prices :). You can buy one here click.dji.com/CiHhivJ5QbKyUnz2?pm=link
I wanna see the Phantom track a versacopter. What is the smallest thing it will track. Also if the target is moving up or down hill with it adjust it's own altitude? Can I have this thing follow me down hill skiing?
Lots of great features! Great video.
+Just keep droning True. you can buy these for around $1250
You should try tracking a (RC) plane with it!
That would be soo cool
They did that with the chroma drone!

Thank You Guys!
JOSH SCOTT!!!!!!!!
+Mark Ellison Yup yup! Lets hope hes back for others...
Ikr
Starting at 58 seconds there is a Josh Bixler head in the window.
+Mark Ellison get rid of peter and get josh scott back!!!
+brent v Josh Scott never left. He's just busy with other things. And without Peter we wouldn't have two thirds of the planes that were released lately...
Tap fly so can record video or take pics etc while flying where u want to go safely similar too the two pilot mode on inspire one I'm guessing ?
As much as we sometimes mock DJI pilots, the technology is pretty impressive and perfect for their use scenario.
+Balu they do their work very well , i flee the 3 pro series with wind burst up to 50kmh and it flies pretty decent
Awesome to see Josh Scott again!
Would like to see using the waypoint features and how well it does completely autonomous flight missions.
Love the Active Tracking!
Phantom 6: You're violating your curfew. Please remain indoors.
Wait... WHAT!!!???
Does it assume it's over land? What will it do if the battery is low and it's tracking something in the water?
RIP
First warning triggers RTH. If it cant make it then it will land when the 2nd warning kicks in

+Flip Flop there was no discount, idiot.
Nice to see Josh Scott again!
Will you guys be doing a comparison of the DJI Phantom 4 and the Yuneec Typhoon H?
You should to a test to see how well it will track the Kraken. And/Or do the Hunt for Red October thing where while it is tracking something like the Kraken, fly another Kraken between the camera and its target and see if you can get it to follow the wrong one.
How do you change it to display the velocity in MPH or KMH rather than the default M/S? (@1:30)
you guys should try and make a V-22 Osprey build!!!
the getting into a little trouble thing you mention somewhere near the 4 minute mark depends on the situation you're in, if you're a dumbass like me who tried to fly the phantom in seriously windy conditions the return to home feature isn't going to do much. in normal situations though it comes in dead handy
The touch to fly could be used for someone who wants to dynamically capture the flight between two points but focus on using the gimbal controls.
Do a test on the blade chroma.
Are you guys still planning to put together a build comparable to the DJI Inspire 1 like you mentioned back in January 2015?
I'd like to see that
Great Scott!!! Always good to see Josh Scott :-)
+FrostbiteUK He's my favorite Flite Tester.

Dude that was some DANK following with the four wheel vehicle
Best video demonstrating the features... Thank you flight test for this
The tap to fly is great for cinematic shots. It flies on it's own at the set speed and you're free to just control the gimbal
I want to see a race, a Mini quad vs the atv ! Drag race style!
hehe

6:00 why you would use that is for a pan shot well your solo so you can still fix miss framing with the cam.
For the ordinary customer, DJI finally have my respect.
Kudos to them and the Flite Test crew
How about a FliteTest DIY version? A fixed wing that could follow when the target is moving and initiate an orbit around the target when stationary would be cool.
There were some nice shots in this episode. Thanks for sharing!
Good to see Josh on again :D Top job on this video
thanks a lot guys for the video, really did a great job and has really helped

+Martin Rodgers They had to try very hard to have it lose the tracking object. The same clothing (plus hat) and the same size was required IIRC.

Great review!! Would love to see if it can track objects other than humans, such as cars, animals or even other drones?!

Love the new outdo, definitely a keeper guys. Keep up the great hard work!
Best review yet!
Can you make a video of typhoon H vs P4? That would be nice
battle of the prosumer titans! V interested in the H as it can lose a rotor and still continue on!
Great video, picking mine up on Friday...
i have now a fair share of experience with drone flying. and after having owned the XuGong and seen it as a really capable cameradrone, i now think the Phantom 4 is finally ready to be bought and used.
Can you have a phantom track a person, and then another phantom track the phantom that's tracking the person? Basically, can you track another phantom?
Did you guys try to do active track with the forward sensors turned off? That brings up the speed of the Phantom..

will it track another drone? or sail plane?
I been waiting for this, flitetest reviews are the best!
would love to see what you guys do comparing the autel X STAR Premium in comparison to the phantom 3 or 4 as well as the Yuneec Typoon H!!!!
I would love one of these, perfect for wildlife tracking and video,, deer on the mountain all over.. this would be cool
what is that thing behind the glass??
I think you should try to make a scale type flying castle. It should of course have an awesome drawbridge, and a rc dragon with a red mouth prop to fight.
And yet another fantastic video. You rock man!
How about doing some max distance test comparisons between Phantom 3 Pro and Phantom 4? With and without Windsurfer.
+Tom Spurlock about 100-200m more range on the P3 pro
Absolutely amazing review.

damn phantom back at it again with the white drone
You should do a review of the XK Detect X380
Awesome.. you guys rock.. One of the best vids out there for the phantom4...
What is your teams favorite goggles to use for FPV
Thanks so much for uploading this! I was so hyped about phantom 4 review
Hey flitetest, nice review!
Can you guys review the Windrider 737 at some point, would be a cool one to see!
That was a great video guys, great test of the Phantom 4
Would it be able to track another aircraft?
would a fixed wing chase be possible?
great video....I have a 3...4 is coming soon! i love it!
Nice, very helpful and fun to watch! Great job guys!
I'll actually change my phantom 3 with 4, mostly based on your video!
Will u review the phantom 3 standard PLZZ
are there flight controllers with these sorts of features? I'm using apm but it doesn't have all these features
+Matthew Barnard - it does. but you need to figure out the wiring and configuration.
Ah i see cause what i meant was the sonar sensor.
I am more looking for the person tracking stuff. More of the software type stuff.. Sense and avoid is fairly useless to me.
Would you reccomed the 4 for an already "trained" pilot?
Very nice review! Thank you.
Great Review
May I ask what tablet are you using and will the cord supplied fit the tablet?
That just cost me a bunch of money.

nicely done review!
+fliteTest If he were to run through the treeline would it go over the trees and continue to track him or would it lose him?
amazing drone!
what apple iPad device are you using and what generation?
do you know by any chance if the iPad mini 4 is compatible ?
thank you
The guy in the window at 8:11 (-:
Did you guys do one with the pro as well version one and version two ?
any thoughts on how a gear vr would work for with this drone?
Super cool video guys, thanks for sharing.
Sweet, that looks so nice
Could make a video on how make a fully working mutirotor for under $170
Nice job guys.

Great video guys!!!
Could it track and follow another quadcopter ?
Awesome, love my 4!
