idk I don't like this video so much, not because it is terrible in quality, but rather because other people have already made reviews of the F-8E in the recent past.
Also me is in stressi depressi mode because exams, so this video is a lil' rushed ngl
Still, I'd rather upload a video like this than no video at all :)
Going from the F-4C/E to the F8U kept me sane on my grind towards the F14.
Same here I had so much fun playing the F8 when I first got it
Does the f8u help (im on the verge of deleting the game cuz I gotta research 3 more planes with no prem jets or acc and the have 340k+ so I need a way to keep my sanity)
@@L.unari. F8U-2 is like a proto F-8E and in my experience these past few weeks of playing it gets almost constant downtiers so its a blast to play. Just need to be aware of wing rips even more so than on the F-8E.
EDIT: Bit of a tip, use those dang combat flaps on the F8U, doesn't stop you from ripping but helps prevent it in many cases
The F8U has wings made of thin glass. They break if you look at them the wrong way.

I’ll never give up my AIM-9Ds, they turn on a fucking dime.
A good tip for the F-8 Crusader. The guns are split into two groups, you can select them separately to let you be able to fire your guns for longer at the cost of halving your burst mass. It will automatically swap the selection when you run out of ammo for the current set so no messing with keybinds during a crucial moment. It basically makes the guns very similar to the F-5.
This is one of those planes I can always go back and enjoy
The fact that a plane has been reviewd by a lot of people doesent mean that it doesent deserve a new and up to date one, gaijin is always adding new stuff and making some changes that can actually change a lot how a plane performs so a new video is always welcome.

I want them to add radar jamming because, turns out, the 9Cs had a home-on-jam passive seeker mode. Would be endlessly entertaining to fox-1 people who think they’re safe. It would even be immune to chaff in passive mode!

Wish everyone was so respectful as you. I barely even play WT anymore now that I can run DCS. When I do it's always a miserable frustrating time, as usual. Took out the F5C for the first time in a month. Got the perfect aspect on a guy chasing a teammate and fired a missile, 2 seconds later I hear and see a missile being fired nearby at the same fkn guy. My missile crits, his missile kills. I get an assist. I get killed. Fucking LOVE this game.

I got this aircraft last week, been absolutely loving it. The best technique I've found is staying at about 4.5km (on average) to just stay below where I get a contrail. Then come up beneath the MiG-21s with the Aim-9Cs from below while they're high and not terribly manueverable.
I've played just enough to spade all the performance mods (not the ordinance), and have a 3.5ish KDR in it. The amount of people who don't bring Chaff, even Event Tornados and Su-25s is insane.

The crusader is a naval plane and the wings actually fold in half, you can see the pivots where it folds on the wing. This causes the wings to not be as strong and leads to wing rips.
The F/A-18 is also a Naval aircraft and the wings fold, but it doesn't suffer this problem.
@@SPFLDAngler Well yeah you have to take a look at where the wings fold ( the edge of the wing on the f-18 vs the middle of the wing on the f-8) , the f-18 being a much newer/ stronger design ( F-8 a plane from the 50s where the F-18 is from the 80s, and also warthunder pulling many more gs than irl. Most planes in real life see max 7-8gs but in warthunder were out here pulling crazy 10-20gs nonsense lol. About the only plane to be able to pull those crazy gs and not just immediately crumple up is the F-15 as far as I know.

@Are You 0k its funny because the only reason the f16 has that g limiter in real life is it was just too unsafe for pilots to be given any more than 8gs as in testing many died because of a higher g limit allowed which led to pancakes. This goes for all aircraft though, staying awake above 8-10gs is insanely difficult for any human to do, so its not even a problem with the plane so why are mig21s allowed to pull 14gs and not the f16 ? only the giant brains at gaijen know
As someone who recently obtained F8U, I find it constantly uptiered to face 11.3 premium spam, compared to A-10/Su-25 spam in Thud.
That said, I need to revisit Thud now as missiles got quite the nerf to energy retention when maneuvering, which might make that big ol bombtruck a bit more enjoyable.
no take the missiles for when the a10 or the SU-25 yeets an all aspect head on at you. Set throttle to 50 when you're 4km away, ready up an AIM9E and launch it when you see the enemy missile diamond coming. Shoot at the enemy and buzz off. Remember to WEP again the moment you see no more missile tags.
I honestly prefer AIM-9Ds over Js, Gs and Hs. I wish I could keep my other missiles caged until I want them to not be. Because that would avoid them constantly locking onto shit I don't want them to lock. Like flares, teammates, the sun and the wrong enemies.

There is a way to cage seekers...
You literally can't... If you press your lock key it resets the seeker position and unlocks it. But it doesn't cage it.
At least this thing doesn't start randomly wobbling around when you go supersonic, anymore

I’ve played a lot of F-8E and dear god do I love it. It’s god in a downtier, and still fairly viable in an uptier with a competent pilot.
Under good conditions it can outclimb a Starfighter, the missiles are perfect, and recently it seems that the snail has gifted us with fewer wing tears.
nice trick for the wing rip issue is to just unequip the booster modification. You lock up slightly more at 1+ mach, but that really only serves to stop you from blowing your wings off anyway. Other than that it still turns great and it gives you a de facto G limiter
@@markstanard6306 A lot of people will tell you that, but it’s more effective to use WASD for roll and yaw and let the mouse handle pitch, very very rarely will the instructor rip your wings off and you still have the extra G from the boosters mod if you need it
@TaGF_Tomcat I'd rather sacrifice the negligible loss in pull for the ability to safely use wasd for pitch, as it let's you have much more situational awareness as you are free to look around with your mouse

I also love how WT UA-camrs(other than Seek who I don't watch) won't and don't kill steal, yet that doesn't convince players not to do it either.
I just love matches where someone follows me everywhere I go and steals every kill I'm about to make.

Just don't use the booster modification. Fighting Premiums has another advantage, most of them are Strike Aircraft, which makes battle tasks which require killing them actual fun.
One of the most fun aircraft in the entire US tech tree. AIM-9C my beloved. Finally regarding other people already having make videos on the subject, that doesn't matter especially when the video is newer.
Anything that kills premium players effectively is my fav

you should also try the AJ37 at 10.3 its a joy to fly bc its basically a 11.0 airframe at 10.3

The mig 21spsk actually has a pretty low t/w compared to the other mig 21s. Its engine is very weak. And idk about the f8e beating a mig 19 in a dogfight. That thing's a monster.
You are right about the engine power. I just double checked again, and it is indeed true the SPS-K has rather poor TWR. I must have mixed something up when doing the research for this video. Thank you for pointing that out, I'll add this to my pinned comment.
As for the F-8E outperforming the Mig-19; don't get me wrong, the Mig-19 is a powerhouse. Especially in a vertical dogfight that thing is extremely strong. However, so far in my experience I've never been killed by a Mig-19 in the F-8E. Maybe stating that the F-8E is definately better in a dogfight wasn't the best way to phrase this, but I've had zero issues dealing with 19s so far.
@@WalvisYT yeah i agree with you on everything said. 90% of people flying the mig 19 are most likely just doing it for the grind and have very little experience flying it. That's most likely why you never have issues with them.
I've done some testing with my friends and theres very few planes the mig 19 can't beat (when it comes to planes that it actually encounters). If you start on its 6 its a different story. With good aim you should be able to kill it before it gets to bleed you of your energy.
With all that being said, great video on the f8e. You showcased just about everything good and bad about it and i really appreciate in-depth videos like that. Especially on older planes like the f8e.

I truly love yet hate the F-8's even though I don't have them yet (F8U-2 79k rp left, F-8E 130k rp left) they're quite frankly annoying to due with flareless aircraft above 9.3 uuuuuhuuuuhuuhuhuhuh like the Q-5L ...
Still one shouldn't doubt an Ayeet (Ayit A-4N) since it can carry 4× powerful missiles with CM & being very nimble, I recently witnessed one get a 7 kill game.
Hm one observation on the Cursader is that it's autocannon armament is split so in away you can have double the endurance in a dogfight if you setup separate gun keys.
Yeah pretty most 10.3 TT aircraft make for great premium farmers as many whom fly premiums ain't the sharpest tools in the shed (bar MiG-21SPS-K pilot that take CM, those are a tad smart for the meta around them).
The A-4N is strong, but it does have some weaknesses the F-8E can easily take advantage of.
Personally I skipped the F-8U, and went straight for the E.

yeah yeah, it works if you get in 9.3 to 10.7 games. But most of my games are uptiers to 11.3 because of F-4S spam so not so great when half your team dies within 5 mins

I noticed recently that F-8E has IRST mode. Can it be useful for anything?
Yes! It allows you to find enemies just like a radar, except without pinging their RWR. In general, when not using the AIM-9C its best to just switch to IRST.
It doesn't do much more than just help spot enemies, though. It isn't the best IRST.
Not particularly useful. Since you can't slave your missiles to it like other planes can.

This man saw the "W" key on the keyboard and just said "Yes." You realize you can make tighter turns using flaps and not WEP'ing the entire time right? Also helps prevent overshooting your target.
First of all, if you have throttle still set to W and haven't enabled 'Toggle WEP', you are criminally insane.
2nd, using flaps and turning off your burner will increate your turn rate *temporarily*. Its not always the thing you want to be doing and you should avoid it if you can.
nah full afterburner at all times. dont be a chump. if you need to go slower, go up so you get altitude for lost speed then dive to regain speed

No, but its worth the consideration to buy a premium in a different tech tree instead.
You can then still use said premium to grind SL, but you can also grind through another tech tree in the mean time.

take off boosters, and youll never rip if you know how to fly (dont pull hard when rolling at all). not once have i ripped my f8e, and i have nutty stats in it. such a fun plane.

There is nothing an f8e could do against a mig 19 that knows what he's doing, like your missiles are easily dodgable and the mig 19 has much better flight performance.
In an isolated 1v1, maybe. But in most cases in ARB MiG-19's aren't very scary, which is why I said what I said.

Depends entirely on your flying style. The F-4 is a beast in vertical combat and thanks to her plethora of missiles and effective radar, she's quite good at BVR and other ranged combat, but she does suffer up close due to fairly poor energy retention, heavy weight, and many varients completly lacking any guns. Whereas the F-8 is an up and close brawler with good agilty, four very deadly guns, and excellent energy retention, but she isn't nearly as fast as the Phantom, the radar isn't as good, and she only has four missiles to the F-4's eight.
