wow.. was not expecting Sandra bullocks hair to look like that !
+Jasmine Ko Me either! I thought it was a joke
haha ikr !
I thought you meant her hair was short or something I was like what's the surprise and I SAW AND ALMOST FELL OVER LMFAOOO
ahahahaha! Ikr xD
+Jasmine Ko thank you for the warning tbh
there’s something very satisfying in hearing actors talk about film, innit?
Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler among so many others
It was amazing though it doesn't qualify.
That film really creeped me out.
@@cuac5869
I have it on my watchlist
This video was made 2010
Nightcrawler came out in 2014, this video is on the performances from the noighties (2000-2009) but I agree that Gyllenhaal was fantastic in Nightcrawler
Daniel Day Lewis in literally anything, Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman in the Master
Those are AMAZING but they are the next decade tho
I love it how everyone else goes for these dramatic, emotional performances and there's Sam Worthington with Eddie Murphy
Dat Popular Culture tho
The lore is he was surfing living out of his car when he got Avatar.
I agree with him that being able to play a lot of different characters at the same time takes a lot of talent as an actor. It's a pity Eddie Murphy only used that talent to play stupid movies mostly. I bet he would have been an awesome antagonist in a drama or suspense movie.
i can't believe the nutty profeser was mentioned as a good acting performance good movie but theirs so many other great movies with better characters
@@kevinnsern968 The performance, not the movie. It makes sense what Worthington was saying. How many characters did he play? I mean, that's gotta be tough. Look at the multiple personalities of split as an example. I think Eddie could have pulled off far more in his career but they always wanted him to do comedies.
I absolutely agree with Carey Mulligan. Saoirse's performance was breathtaking in Atonement. She should have won the oscar.
Both of them are so criminally underrated...... Carey should have won 2 Oscars by now (Specially for PYW), Saoirse at least one. My personal favourite and she totally should have won, Brooklyn. That film was so moving and she totally put her heart in that role.
Love Woody Hartelson for mentioning Ulrich Mühe in The Life of Others.
This movie is totally brilliant and Ulrich was on of the best actors we had in Germany. He died too young. God bless him.
Lisa absoluter Ehrenmann!
He was absolutely right, that performance was a masterclass
Javier bardem in no country, heath in dark knight and obviously ddl in there will be blood
I was actually thinking Heath too for brokeback mountain - clearly the man was just an incredible actor.
that's exactly what I'm going to say !
you nailed all three i would have chosen
DDL LOL
The Dark knight was overrated
Just realized that peter sarsgaard is jake gyllenhaal's brother in law
Zain Rizvi adorbs
Sarsgaard is great at playing villains. I remember how he oozed sleaziness in Boys Don't Cry. Amazing film by the way.
How come no one mentioned Adrien Brody in The Pianist? he was unreal.
Zac Efron in High School musical 2.
That "Bet On It" scene I mean c'mon.
JAJAJAJ
Totally agree
Please tell me your joking
@@olivermalpas-sands7723 he's being sarcastic, my guy.
@@pinheadlarry553 phew
Marion Cotillard in La Vie En Rose is, to me and to some, the greatest performance in the history of cinema.
your comment is 3 years old and we still don't talk enough about how fantastic she was in the movie. I agree with you completely
Daniel Day-Lewis in 'There Will be Blood" was absolutely best performance of the 2000s. Nothing comes even close. Nobody picked him ? Sheesh...
exactly what I was thinking
Up there with Marion's performance.
Ya hands down your correct. That performance is top 5 ever, can easily be top 3, arguably #1. When the movie ended I was sure a man name Daniel Plainview existed.
For me he couldn't even surpass Casey Affleck in "The assasination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford" the same year and for you he was the best of the 2000s?? Freaking subjective =]]
+1
Adrien Brody in The Pianist is one of my favorites
Same but I truly love bill Murray in lost in translation I think it’s underrated
Joaquin in I walked the line.
absolutely
That’s my answer too
My number 1 too!
Heath Ledger's Joker is the masterpiece of our time.
m I o . o I m It’s *A* masterpiece. Reel it in, buddy.
Child please. You need to watch some more films ...
absolutely...
Nautilus1972 are you kidding? That performance was one of the best ever!
@@Nautilus1972 why so serious
Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford."
Most underrated film of the last 20 years in my opinion.
yes!
I'd say more Casey than Brad
@@TheJubanne1
True, Casey was brilliant in this.
Nah much better out there
Sandra pulled a Helena Bonham Carter with that hair.
+Shann Maire More like a 80's glam metal lead singer

Chandra Star thank you.
you are an angel!
Alexander Lee de O
Alexander Lee thanks
I love Leo and Tobey's friendship ❤️
I was gonna say that I was hurt cause nobody mentioned Marion Cotillard then George Clooney at the end did and I was so happy, you sure have taste man!
That's so adorable that Jake Gyllenhaal talks about his brother-in-law.
Oh wait I don’t get it, who is he dating? I can’t find anything online?
He's married to his sister, hence Brother in-law.
Wibbly Wobble ahh that makes sense, thank you!
Athena Bac and not to mention they were in Jarhead together
And in Rendition together. He's a good actor though lol.
Glad Fassbender got a mention,
Shame was the most haunting performance that stands shoulder to shoulder with Brando in Last Tango in Paris,
Surprised no mention for DDL. Gangs of New York, to me he crafted the most relatable anti-hero, one who is easily the most compelling characters in film history.
Jake Gyllenhaal asking himself " Do I choose one of my Performances?"...He is the best
Instead, he complimented his brother in law 😂
Paul Giamatti in Sideways is one of the most tragic, realistic, beautiful and humorous performances in my opinion. I'm always waiting for somebody to pay it the attention that it deserves. Definitely my favorite performance of all time, not this decade.
Tobey Maguire is a real life Nick Carraway to Leonardo DiCaprio.
We all have a man-crush bro
Yeah they were childhood friends
@@rajv9732 It's really unfortunate. Tobey is a phenomenal actor. If you haven't seen Brothers, you should check it out
Haha reallife Tobey Maguire is the same as how he played Peter Parker.
+Mōmoku no what do you mean bro?
+Doobi Doodle the way he talks i think
+Danny Carvajal It's Tugboat dammit!
+Garnalenpeller tobey maguire is peter parker!!!
+Garnalenpeller that's why he is the best peter parker
I've been waiting for a 2019 version of this for years now. Fingers crossed they'll make one.
Please do this again for this decade!
Kevin bacon's performance in the woodsman is so underrated.
Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood. INCREDIBLE performance.
5 new movies added to my watchlist! Thank you!
Tobey Maguire was like "I think my bestfriend was the best."
I loved that
here are some:
Daniel Day-Lewis - There Will Be Blood
Marion Cotillard - La Vie en Rose
Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Capote
Heath Ledger - Brokeback Mountain
Naomi Watts - Mulholland Dr.
Joe Hughey I don't know why people didn't choose Charlize in Monster.
Daniel Day Lewis in There will be Blood or Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Bastards or Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight...The best performances
Colin Farrell in In Bruges! That was my favorite performance of the 2000s.
Yeah
The Shawshank Inception that movie is soo underrated!
Fookin' Bruges
I liked Ralph Fiennes a lot more in that movie.
@@rwd6005 Interesting mashup, sir!
Looking forward to see the one from this decade!!
Obvious one is There Will Be Blood. Daniel Day-Lewis will go down in history for that performance.
Joaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in The Master.
Christian Bale in The Machinist, I agree with who said that one.
Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight
I'd even put Ryan Gosling in Drive on the list, bite me.
Nice pick, I'd change Ryan Gosling' Drive into Half Nelson
Hadn't seen Half Nelson when I wrote this, but definitely agree.
CrystalJupiter I also thought about Ryan Gosling specifically in Half Nelson, Drive, or Lars and the Real Girl.
I forgot to also mention Blue Valentine. That might be my favorite performance by him.
Grant McCloud Very beautiful performance indeed! By both Ryan & Michelle
Marion in La Vie En Rose was probably one of the best performances EVER.
I jumped out of my bed when Clooney talked about it. It was the 1st movie that came to my mind and whats funny is that Ive just watched it again tonight. Vibrant&stunning Cotillard made me burst into tearsagain.
+Kaotai1 I agree! George Clooney is right on this one. Marion Cotillard was beyond amazing
If I had to choose between her performance and Daniel Day-Lewis's performance in There Will be blood I wouldn't know how to choose.
I found her performance in Macbeth to be pretty stunning as well!
Sara Glenys Williams It was so good.
Di Caprio in Django, Heath Ledger in TDK, Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, Tom Cruise in Collateral
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in "Revolutionary Road"
Leonardo DiCaprio-The Aviator
Guy Pearce-The Rover
Sean Penn-Milk
Daniel Day-Lewis-There Will be Blood
Christian Bale-American Psycho
Jake Gyllenhaal- Nightcrawler
Joaquin Phoenix-Gladiator
Heath Ledger-The Dark Knight
Jeremy Renner-The Town
Michael Colby Keep in mind this was 2000-2010 so Nightcrawler wouldn't count although I do agree it was a fantastic performance and my favorite one thus far from Jake.
Frosty FTW indeed
Michael Colby if you’re going to say the aviator you have to Jamie Foxx in Ray which came out the same year
Listening to Colin Firth talk is like reading a book
I love that Zoe mentioned Tang Wei in Lust, Caution - one of my favourite films and performances! And I agree...one of the few times sexual intimacy added SO MUCH to a film's progression - it wasn't in there for the heck of it or to titillate at all.
I completely agree with Christoph Waltz. I know guys like Lee's character and it was pitch perfect. Unbelievably good. His delivery of the monologues alone gave me chills.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman in anything.....
Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood might be the most astonishing thing ever done by a male actor.
Congratulations! Your opinion has been chosen as The Right One by the board of the Movies Are Not a Matter of Taste organization. Your prize will arrive shortly by mail to your closest post office.
MehmetOezil ....heh. i'm just done with youtube commenting. why did you have to reply to me like this? why? why is every youtube commenter just trying to start a fight over a harmless disagreement. why couldn't you have just kindly stated which performance you prefer and turned this into a friendly discussion rather than just being a sarcastic ass?
.
.
MehmetOezil i uh... i can't tell if you're making fun of youtube trolls or if you actually are one... but if psh and and ddl are your favorite actors... that's great! my favorite psh performance was probably The Master. favorite ddl was there will be blood. i love paul thomas anderson's films as you can see haha. what are your favorites of theirs?
Everyone complaining about the choices should remember that this is their personal choice. And probably they know more about acting and what is difficult to do on the job than you guys....My personal pick would be Heath Ledger in The Dark knight or Omar Sy in The Intouchables but that is my PERSONAL pick. Everyone are allowed to have their own choice.
+Jo Guttulsrud I totally agree.
+Jo Guttulsrud I was looking for someone to comment about Omar in the Intouchables. SUCH a great film.
Omfg, I was about to say that my pick would be heath ledger in the dark knight...
The intouchables was released in 2011, this video is from 2010, but good choice.
shut up
Man, it would've been so great if after every answer they switched to the favorite performance of the last person mentioned. That would've been so cool to watch, like a chain of admiration in the academy
"Meryl Streep in anything she's done in the last 50 years" hahah I bloody love Morgan Freeman
Heath Ledger as The Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight was just brilliant.
brilliant choice from firth, woodsman is so underrated.
+51gan788 Why did he spoil it tho... u_u
+SmearedBlackInk Ⓥ ikr
go watch the hunt you'll forget this even existed
imad temlali I love The Hunt. One of the best films of the decade imo
kevin bacon was one of my favorite actors, ever. he's just a great actor!
Ulrich Muhe in The Lives of Others almost never gets brought up in these discussions, so was very surprised - and pleased - to see him be mentioned here.
Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will be Blood, Charlize Theron in Monster, Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capote, Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream, and Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight round out my top 5 performances of the decade
Performance than PSH in Capote which released in same year.
Love George Clooney's imitation of people who portray old people at 6:36. lol
Heh heh heh heh 😂
Christian Bale in American Psycho
One of the most quotable performances of the decade as well. "I'm sorry. You're not terribly important to me." it's my personal favouirte.
I think you mean Christian Babe
My initial thoughts
"Dont just look at it, eat it"
Christian Bale in everything he's been in.
julianne moore mentioning sean penn in mystic river... a big yes to that! i like him in general but that movie made me cry... so many things happen in it that i wasnt expecting... after that i would say Milk... Sean Penn has had the most growth as an actor in my opinion to go from Spiccoli in fast times at ridgemont high to his dramatic roles that really resonate... amazing
Well at least now I know how to pronounce "Saorsie" Ronan's name. I thought it was "saer-see" not "seer-shah". You learn something new every day. Thank you Carey Mulligan.
I agree with Firth. Kevin Bacon's performance in The Woodsman was incredible. The delicacy with which he handled that character was awe-inspiring. He really got me to feel bad for him, not as a criminal, but as a person trying to be good when nobody believes he can be. The conversation he has with the little girl in the park near the end is truly heart-breaking.
I would also put up Ralph Fiennes in The Constant Gardener. Very, very subtle work, as always. The scene where the character learns his wife has died is one of the best pieces of acting I've ever seen. The guy is a master.
Woody Harrelson is just on spot! Ulrich Mühe was on that one not an actor. He simply was the character. Little to nothing did he have to do in terms of expression, more so when he did not even have a line to speak (because that is how the script was written, as the silent character he was) in some of the most brilliant beats of that film. A pretty static character if you ask me and got me inside the story and his thoughts more than any other has ever before (and afterwards as well).
Cate Blanchet in "I'm not there"
Kate Winslet in "The reader"
Adrien Brody in "The Pianist"
Christian Bale in "The Machinist"
Tilda Swinton in "We need to talk about Kevin"
Daniel Day Lewis in "There will be blood"
Philip Seymor Hoffman in "Capote"
Heath Ledger in "Brokeback Mountain"
Marion Cottillard in De Rouille et os (of rust and bone)
Meryll Streep in "The Devil wears Prada"
Not always in this order....
Pretty good list that of yours, too.
Love how Tobey chose Leo's performance ✨
And then Sam Worthington appears and you are like wtf what is he doing here?
This was 2010,avatar came out a year ago and became the highest grossing movie ever...he was supposed to be the next big thing...lol...how things change...
@@Rash23215 he aint bad at all
Colin Firth in a tux. End of discussion.
+Nick Rodriguez RIGHT!!?? So Dashing!!;)
Nick Rodriguez I had to uncross my legs and now I can't cross them again.
Nick Rodriguez manners maketh man
So handsome!
Jake Gyllenhaal and I have similar taste. I love Peter Sarsgaad (not sure how to spell his name) in An Education- it was a superb film because Peter Sarsgaad was so well cast and his character has so much charisma - you can totally relate to the main protagonist feeling attracted to him.
Heath Ledger -The dark knight.
I know... I know... A bit Mainstream but that Performance inspired me more than anything else to become an actor myself.
Work in Theater for 7 years now since I left school.
Love every second of it and i am grateful that heath Ledger did the joker. Otherwise i may have never found my love for acting.
Cristopher waltz could talk me into an eternal sleep with his liquid Austrian gold voice
Fassbender in Shame.
DiCaprio in Shutter Island.
Bale in The Machinist.
Rockwell in Moon.
Ledger in TDK.
syukrihantu I definitely agree with you dude.
+ Don Cheadle in Hotel Rwanda.
Shame and Shutter Island don't count since they were from the 2010s, not the 2000s
I would put Bale above DeCaprio,
from 2000-2010.. Bale killed in every role.
Even Jake Gyllenhaal is so underrated, he didn't get the fame of DiCaprio. So many characters from him that could become iconic. He needs Scorsese and Tarantino
1 Garoto 2 Mundos
Bro DDL and Marlon Brando are god.
Heath Ledger, “Dark Knight”, Saorsie Ronan “Atonement”, whole cast “no country for old men”
Glad to hear that Kavin Bacon's criminally underrated performance in THE WOODSMAN and the mesmerizing and, IMHO, one of the best lead performances ever, played by the late Ulrich Mühe (RIP) in The Live of others, are recognized by some of his peers.
Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood," Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight," Javier Bardem in "No Country for Old Men," Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote," Forrest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland," Christoph Waltz in "Inglorious Basterds," all won the 5 big awards (Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, SAG and Critics' Choice Award) for those performances. I don't understand why actors don't pick performances that might actually have been the best. Plus, Daniel Day-Lewis probably would have done the same if he had been nominated for Best Supporting Actor instead Leading actor in "Gangs of New York." I just don't understand why none of them picked any of the truly great performances. Kate Winslet and Marion Cotillard weren't bad choices, but most of them were.
+Collin Workman Jeez, people just LOVE the bad guys, don't they? But they are so easy to play, you don't need skills for "evil". Try to give examples of positive characters! (except Capote)
Michael Kupfer I find that I am more transfixed by great potrayals of villains rather than heroes.
Collin Workman
Yes because people think that a character that has flaws and is extravagant and flashy has something to do with great acting. Heath Ledger's impression on people in TDK was at least 70% his make-up and scars and hair-style and wardrobe, not his acting skills (for that see Monster's Ball or Brokeback Mountain). Just my 2 cents
+Collin Workman Yes, some wonderful work, above. Didn't Charlize Theron blow everyone away in Monster? She amazed me. And I think that just gets in 12 years ago.
+Collin Workman
If you just want your own opinions parroted back at you, there are plenty of lazy Top Ten lists you can watch. This video is about what THESE PEOPLE think is the best. If you're so sure actors "never" choose "the best", then why do you waste your time listening to their opinions?
Daniel Day Lewis in there will be Blood ?
RIGHT?? LIKE WTF??? THAT IS A MASTERPIECE !
Lewis as usual is ridiculous. But the movie, boring! It’s so slow. But DDL just does what he does maybe that’s why people overlooked him
@@dmkappa62 The film is a _work of art_ and one of the most perfect pieces of cinema. Not sure what _you_ saw.

10 Greatest Acting Performance of All Time
( According to Me, in no particular order )
• Renee Jeanne Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc
• Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood
• Joaquin Phoenix in The Master
• Maryle Streep in Sophie's Choice
• Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight
• Leonardo DiCaprio in What's Eating Gilbert Grape
• Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver
• Al Pacino in The Godfather 2
• Marlon Brando in The Waterfront
• Gloria Swanson - Sunset Boulevard
I know they said this decade but... Ellen Burstyn in Requien for a Dream, by far is the best performance ive seen. Next to Charlize Theron in Monster, same as Philip Seymour Hoffman is almost every character he did, Joaquin Phoenix in The Master is just superb, Fassbender on Shame is so believable. and of course Daniel Day Lewis whos by far is maybe the best performer of this and the previous decade.
Joaquin in "the Master" would be my winner. Some overlooked performances that are easy for me to recall? Adam Sandler in "Punch Drunk Love", Colin Farrell in "Tigerland", Samantha Morton in "Minority Report" (or The Messenger), Eddie Marsan in "Happy-Go-Lucky", Terrence Howards "Hustle and Flow", Steve buscemi in "Ghost World", Judy Dench "Notes on a Scandal", Jackie earl Haley "Little Children", Billy Bob Thornton in "Bad Santa" to be honest, a unique performance. Robin Williams in "One Hour Photo", or maybe "Insomnia" (performances bleed together in my mind). Brad Pitt in Assassination of Jesse James....
D.D Lewis in "There Will be Blood" would be my second favorite performance
Denzel Washington in "Training Day" being honorable mention.....not an art film, not a special movie at all....and he was really playing his first bad guy. Relative to what a movie should have been, and how an actor elevated the material? He might be the winner for me some days. Training Day was a generic premise, but he raised the whole thing by himself.
Other performances that pop in my head....Jack Nicholsen in "About Schmidt", Naomi Watts in "21 Grams", Christian Bale in "The Fighter"(if that fits the decade), Bill Murray in "Lost in Translation", Charlize Theron in "Monster", Marion Cotlliard in that Edith Piaf movie, Meryl Streep in "Doubt", Christoph Waltz in "Inglorious Basterds"( if it fits the decade.), Julianne Moore in "The Hours".
I overwhelmingly watch English language movies, obviously
The master is from 2010s dude
Joaquin in The master is at the same level as Daniel Day-Lewis in There will be blood, and this is from 2010.
All the movies you mentioned are famous and the performances are good, but Best performances of the 2000's are Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream, Daniel day-lewis in There will be blood, Marion Cotillard in la vie en rose Philip Seymour Hoffman in capote, and Heath ledger in the dark knight.
Don't forget Bugs Bunny
yup Naomi Watts is very good...Hush, The Sea of Trees, 21 Grams
Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream). By far
+Alexx87 I agree!! So so good!! Among all the great performances in that movie she was my fav by far
i'm gonna be on television!!!
By far LOL
By Gold far b ;-P
Got halfway though horrific movie
Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain is the greatest performance of the last 10 years.
I agree it is up there with DDL
He was brilliant in that, agreed
no ddl in there will be blood or gangs of new york is the best and i would put heath in dark knight
@So K I disagree. He's was great in TDK but the emotions he portrayed in brokeback was incredible. He makes you cry, he makes you wonder, he makes you happy. All in one performance.
alongside with jake
Andrew Garfield in Hacksaw Ridge & Leo DiCaprio in The Revenant.
Just two great performances off the top of my head that came in mind
The guy in the movie The Hunt. And Marion Cotillard in Le Mome
Mads Mikkelsen is the name. Brilliant performance
Jake was great in the Tom Ford movie. I think he needs to become a director though. At least for awhile. I think he has a strong personality and needs to step away from acting for a while. He was really good in that movie where he goes back in time. He and his sister and his brother in law are great together. I hope they do something together.
I like how Cristoph Waltz had one of the best in Bastards
Patrick Stewart in Star Trek TNG The Inner Light. The final scene when he holds the flute to his chest is powerful.
This is amazing make more!:)
Björk in Dancer in the Dark is my favorite performance of the 2000's.
Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood," Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight," Javier Bardem in "No Country for Old Men," Christopher Waltz in "Inglorious Basterds" and Will Smith in "The Pursuit of Happiness". Because being mainstream is not so mainstream nowadays.
Will Smith!
LOL
I was thinking who I'd have named and the only person that really came to my mind was Matthew McConnaughey for the role of Rust Cohle on True Detective.
I couldn't shake off the impact that show and especially that character had on myself for quite some time now.
I loved what Sandra Bullock had to say about Kate, who is in my opinion the best actress of our generation. Her performance in "The Reader" was AMAZING. I would've picked her performance in "The Eternal Sunshine...". And I do agree with George Clooney; Marion was beyond brilliant in "La Vie en Rose".
Meryl in The Devil Wears Prada and Doubt, Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men, Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, Kate Winslet in Revolutionary Road, Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream, Viola Davis in Doubt, Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood, Audrey Tautou in Amélie, Sacha Baron Cohen in Borat, Adriana Barraza in Babel.
Revolutionary Road, great, underrated movie, with GREAT performances by Winslet, DiCaprio, AND Michael Shannon.
Matthew McConaughey
"Rust" in True detective.
He's brilliant in that
My man!
y’all needa do this again
Anyone can discuss other actors' performances and it's fine and dandy, but it's really cool to hear other actors discussing their favorites. I think Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood is the best acting performance yet, and there are many other great ones for the 2000s and cinema in general!!!
My choice so far is Bruno Ganz in Downfall... nuff said.
Loved Leanardo in Avitor..played Howard Hughes so well..a very complex person.
I agree with Toby! I was thinking Leo in aviator! Just incredible!
Totally agree with Clooney at the end: Cotillard. I think it has to be the ONE single time I've seen a young actor play an old person convincingly. Clooney is right, she was a young person playing an old person wanting to be as young as possible. Acting like that takes enormous talent. As for male, it's really hard to go past Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood. Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain is extremely close, and The Dark Knight is close to that.
Young person playing an old person wanting to be as young as possible? really. Really? Edith Piaf died when she was 47. That´s not old. Edith Piaf was a junkie that looked old but wasn´t. She the movie again.
Gunnhild Edwards Don't call a legend like Piaf a junkie. She was an alcoholic with a morphine adiction. She was a "troubled soul" not a "junkie."
tan nenottup morphine addiction = junkie though.
She looked older than 47.
Miles Teller in "Whiplash". When he performed his solo at the end I broke down in tears. Not just crying, but physically sobbing and gasping for air. A movie has never done that to me before.
Awesome video.
Daniel day lewis, by far the best performance in his magnus opus ' there will be blood'.
I think his performance in The Phantom Thread rivals it
I really loved Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead...2007.
Heather Ledger - The Joker
Daniel Day Lewis - There Will be Blood
Joaquin Phoenix - The Master
So cool to see who the people I look up to look up to haha
Totally agree re The Lives of Others, incredible film
1980s : Meryl Streep - Sophie's Choice and Glenn Close - Fatal Attraction
1990s : Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins - The Silence Of The Lambs and Hilary Swank - Boys Don't Cry
2000s : Marion Cotillard - La vi en rose, Charlize Theron - Monster and Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight
2010s : Brie Larson - Room
jajajaj
