sea doos wont sink, unless you crack the hul,l they have soo much Styrofoam on the bow It will keep its nose afloat. good thing your buddies were there.
Mauricio D I have a question you seem like you might know I have a 06 rxp and I want to put rentals on it when I took the plastic off and there’s wires everywhere and he did it how could I end up doing it
I had a 2013 Rxtx 260. I was in the middle of messing around with a yamaha Fzr when the jetski shut off on me and wouldn't start. Exhaust leak. I started to sink as well. the jetski was completely underwater and i had a rope tied around the eye of the ski and around my ankle as a tread water and wait for the police to rescue me. It was less than a month old and only had 16 hours on it. Sea-doo of north America was nice enough to refund me my entire purchase price and the dealer sold me a 2014 RXTX for a steep discount. 100+ hours on new ski and Im Riva stage 2 with no problems at all!
Holy shit man! OMG can you imagine you were alone in the middle of the Long Island sound when that happened!? The closest you'd be to land was either 10 miles North or 10 miles south if you were out in the middle, and you'd be drifting east pretty quickly headed out to the Atlantic ocean! That would not be good. Thankfully you were ok.
I'm the other guy in the video. I'm wearing a Fly Moto Helmet. Not too heavy or hot for 100USD. But the Jettribe helmet Brent wears weighs almost nothing. Always recommend wearing one if you're riding aggressive and/or in big waves.
I've got two Yamaha gp1200r's and they seem to be the perfect Ski's. Havent had a problem doing anything. They top out around 73 and I take them jumping all the time at Villano which is notorious for its waves. mine are 01's and still running like champs.
I wish it was drain plugs... and actually you can ride with the drain plugs out you just can't sit still fyi! It was the exhaust hose that came off the resonator.
+Brent V Same thing happen to my buddy but we got it to shore and drained it all out. We blew out everything and it started right up. The engine block blew a week later.
@Kujo21 I actually am using a Specialized Deviant II full face. It is super light, has tons of vents (not hot and water flows through) and you barely know your wearing it when/if you hit the water. Probably not as strong as a motorcycle helmet but also not hitting concrete at 90!
He probably forgot about the drain plugs that's why my parents always put the plugs in before we even go to the beach so we don't have to worry about them
This happened to me too about a year ago except I was alone. I was about 15 miles from the ramp when I noticed my acceleration had dropped off immensely after going through a no wake zone. Got to the nearest marina, checked my engine compartment and saw water in it. Decided I was going to run full throttle and try to make it home. I only made it another 2 miles before I ran it up on the nearest boat ramp. The engine shut off about 100 feet before I made it there, but I did save the ski
@douchy1984 Yeah, was pretty lucky to save it. The bars are the Renthal big bar (ProTaper size) kit. They are motocross bars and come with the clamps to convert it over. You could probably use them with the stock clamp with some modification, but I bought a UMI steering setup. If you switch over you will love them!!!
Freekick HQ I know you posted this two years ago but I was riding my Yamaha waverunner we went over pretty big wakes and the exhaust ca loose then it would not start
@offroadingfreack97 oh, sorry you were talking about the RXP not the RXP-X... yes you can. The bars are the Renthal big bar (ProTaper size) kit. They are motocross bars and come with the clamps to convert it over to the bigger diameter. You could probably use them with the stock clamp with some modification, but I bought a UMI steering setup. If you switch over you will love them!!!
The one for the keys was actually a dry box that came with a tether on it. When I pulled it in the video the box broke open and I was left with just my keys. The tether for the GoPro (if that is what you were asking about) is an 1/8 inch piece of stainless cord from Home Depot with some pieces I crimped to hold the ends and make loops. Then I attached the chord to itself with one of those mountain climbing type clips.
krpal10 making assumptions... if calling me names through the internet puts a smile on your face then you're a sad man. im not going to fight with some kid over something i said that has nothing to do with you.
Those bars are the Renthal fat bars. That ski had the UNI steering stem that allows you to use any bars you would like. You can also use the stock steering (with some mods) and use any 7/8 mx bar. For the controls I just used a dremel tool and cut a lot of the extra plastic off once I had the bars installed. I think you can get aftermarket housings from RIVA Racing though. The RIVA ones definitely have a better fit and finish.
Glad you made it back in alright, That tends to happen farly often with modified standup's. Exhaust heats up and destroys the seal on the rubber piping. Usually its all to blame on some stupidly tiny piece of debris that gets into the cooling system and gets caught in a fitting or tap area. Its silly how something as small as a single piece of styrofoam 0.044 of an inch can determine wether or not your ski lives or dies. I added an inline water screen filter after I cooked my 650sx's engine.
there is a rubber coupling between the header and the waterbox muffler, that coupling likes to pop off if not properly tightened or if you do a hard landing forcing pressurized water up the exhaust. good thing you acted fast man Good save
Aw man, sorry about your ski and (incomplete) day of riding :/. By the way, that's a pretty cool song your friends made. It's really catchy! I'll have to add it to my "jetskiing jams" playlist and totally rock out to it next time I ride ^_^
I just got the Jettribe carbon helmet, but was using a specialized full face mountain bike helmet before that. Most people are using mx helmet either with the visor really loose with plastic screws, or no visor at all. Get a neck brace of some sort. At a minimum Jettribe makes a foam one that limits motion side to side and backwards without it feeling much different than no brace.
Yep, exhaust hose. It is usually on the plastic resonator. Because it is plastic, it is sometimes hard to get the clamp to tighten enough to hold it on. A leak in the hose will do the same thing.
@macfan999 Yeah, it was about a 2 inch rupture in the main rubber exhaust hose. It started spewing water into the hull and filled it up fast! I was back out the next weekend even though I still had a few water logged related kinks to work out. I was getting the keys to my truck out so I had something to at least drive home, even if I didn't have the ski on the back. I was thinking maybe I would have to dive for them lol.
We had a problem like this also, turned out it was one of the engineering caps on the exhaust from the manufacture process has split. water gets pumped around the outside of the exhaust to cool it, and was basically pumping itself full with water. New cap from a motorcycle shop fixed it right up.
Hear in Cali the only places they are outlawed is on manmade reservoirs (along with all other 2 strokes), you can still ride them in the ocean, on rivers & natural lakes with a flowing water source, it wont let me post a link but you can check it out on the ca.gov california boating and waterways
last time I went wakeboarding I did a standing start from the pier. 2mins into the run I realised I had the car keys in my board shorts. Made it back to the pier and glided straight in and grabbed on for dear life! It was the most stable run I've ever done to date lol
Yeah, have had that happen also lol.I was so thankful I was out with a couple friends and it just reinforced my new moto... "never go wave jumping alone!"
Been there, done that, hit a cruiser wave and the flywheel cover came off. Didn't know what to do so tried to ride in but it was so loud thought I was gonna blow something up. So stopped for a bit and began to sink. Luckily another waverunner came by and towed me in
I had a similar experience years ago on a yamaha. I was jumping waves at government cut, which is the inlet in South Beach Miami. After jumping waves there for about half an hour I headed back towards the boat ramp and shortly after the engine cut out and I began to sink. Luckily a boater came by, rescued me and towed my POS back to the ramp. I later found out I had cracked the hull from jumping the waves. lesson learned....
I've got caught up in all these jetski videos. Need to buy a jetski, meet cool people with jetskis. Few years down the road, but looks like a blast. Out on the beautiful water no speed limits.
Those are both nice skis, but it depends on what you will be using it for most of the time. You could also try about an 04 GTX or Yamaha VXR if you want a 4 stroke,
It was an exhaust hose leak. There was not much jumping that day, we were just headed out. We went out about every weekend though... definitely beat on it!
Sorry about the jet ski but I think one of the main hoses came off or the water that comes out the front that hose came off. My dad almost sunk our first yamaha waverunner. Luckily he saw that it lost power and sat deeper in the water.
It was a long process... first flush it out. If the cylinders were full fog it with some sort of oil. Then I would suggest taking apart every electrical connection, clean and dry and put back together. It is a pain when you sink them and get water in every connection.
I had the same thing happen to me back in August. I have a Seadoo GTX 215. Flying down the bay and it stalled. Called my friend and before I knew it, almost went down. I was out by myself too. Luckily a boat stopped and picked me up. Towed it back and the exhaust hose clamp broke causing water to come in there. Scary stuff
Not really sure on that one... mostly have experience with the 4 strokes. If you are racing you would probably want to change it out, but normal use may be alright.
what problably happened is that the engine stalled and the water being pulled up into the empeller got backwashed due to the fact it had shut down completely. after that it started to flood the engine compartment. in other words, you probably had a bad seal on the impeller or the intake. I speak from experince (pain to fix, but very vital and inexpensive).
Man that sux! This has to be my biggest nightmare! The scariest moment I've ever had was coming off a wave and swimming towards my jetski when another wave came up and rolled the ski over me! : / finally got to it, rolled it back over and went straight for the ramp, hull was half full of water!
sea doos wont sink, unless you crack the hul,l they have soo much Styrofoam on the bow It will keep its nose afloat.
good thing your buddies were there.
Mauricio D I have a question you seem like you might know I have a 06 rxp and I want to put rentals on it when I took the plastic off and there’s wires everywhere and he did it how could I end up doing it
Elijah L I am currently putting protaper bars on my rxt and I will be using "split loom" which is very cheap and looks good
Check this one isn't fast enough 😂😂😂 needs new engen.?
Lake's this fore helping

Seadoos will sink plenty of you don’t keep an eye on the wear ring.
@@mjpleusch you mean carbon ring
I had a 2013 Rxtx 260. I was in the middle of messing around with a yamaha Fzr when the jetski shut off on me and wouldn't start. Exhaust leak. the same exact thing happened to me today, i have the same model as you
Where is that connection and what is exact problem?? I have same model!!
Thats what you call being quick on your feet! Nice recovery and way to stay calm...
It was actually my truck keys lol. Had to be able to at least drive home when I made it back to the ramp!
I'm the other guy in the video. I'm wearing a Fly Moto Helmet. Not too heavy or hot for 100USD. But the Jettribe helmet Brent wears weighs almost nothing. Always recommend wearing one if you're riding aggressive and/or in big waves.
They won't sink with all the foam in them so no worries there. I ride alone 90% of time as I'm not going to rely on broke boring friends.
+matt glinski exactly lol glad to see I'm not the only one that has to do everything by myself
tell me about it hey!
matt glinski
broke? boring? and friends? u got wrong friends bud.
What are you going to do out in the middle of know where dumbass
When I saw it starting to go down I was like,Aw shit.I'm happy you guys were calm and got it up.
1:59 I HAVE THE KEYS!!!!!!! I HAVE THE KEYS!!!!!!!! I HAVE GOT THE KEYS!!!! IT'S OKAY!!!!!!
Lol
Shae Clarke hi
Ahmd Mohd hi?
Why?
Why was he excited for getting the key, or what importance does the key play?
I've got two Yamaha gp1200r's and they seem to be the perfect Ski's. Havent had a problem doing anything. They top out around 73 and I take them jumping all the time at Villano which is notorious for its waves. mine are 01's and still running like champs.
WHY DO PEOPLE ADD MUSIC TO EVERY VIDEO LIKE THIS. JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ.
+Nolan Chamberlain Because it's annoying AF to listen to 3 minutes of jetski noise...
Nolan Chamberlain I think it’s bad ass
Copyright bullshit.
Its to cut out the F words!
Good to hear you got it working again, I'd love to have a seadoo!
what was that thing that he gave to his friend
the maria stashhhhhhhh so it dident get wet hahahahahahahaha
Car keys?
His heart
I definitely love it! Really like just cruising around in the ocean. When get one you will be addicted!!
duh maybe you maybe didnt put the drain plug in
I wish it was drain plugs... and actually you can ride with the drain plugs out you just can't sit still fyi! It was the exhaust hose that came off the resonator.
ReFuzy you can sit still too. seadoos have a check ball on the drain plugs
Austin Wille 06 and up has them
+Punkdayz they don't have check valves I have a 2009 rxtx
+Brent V Same thing happen to my buddy but we got it to shore and drained it all out. We blew out everything and it started right up. The engine block blew a week later.
Thanks... appreciate it! The song is by some friends of mine, Afterglow Radio out of Orlando.
duudeee ım so sorry for you.....
How is your jetksi now???
İs it ok??
+Cem Moradaoğlu I sold it about a year later, but yeah it was all good once we flushed and cleaned it.
@Kujo21 I actually am using a Specialized Deviant II full face. It is super light, has tons of vents (not hot and water flows through) and you barely know your wearing it when/if you hit the water. Probably not as strong as a motorcycle helmet but also not hitting concrete at 90!

+Bryan Verdecia The exhaust temp sensor melted and let water in.
Seadoo is much suited to the ruff sea. I got a gti130 . And I does wave jumping on ruff sea , and it's a superb machine
Me too, brand new 2016 GTI130 SE. I have it fully insured too so if it goes down I'm not out my $9000
That's a seadoo for you

Seapoo
The song was preety good but damm i would of loved to hear what you were screaming glad you managed to get the ski back
Buy a kawasaki and no exhaust will come off ;)
Freekick HQ I know you posted this two years ago but I was riding my Yamaha waverunner we went over pretty big wakes and the exhaust ca loose then it would not start
good save, and yes it is nice to have friends close by. Keep on sailing my friend.
That's why you should have bought a Yamaha.
Seadoo is better
The exaust hose came off the resonator
Seedoo are nicknamed Subdoo for a reason. They are cheap plastic piece of crap
+bris fry sure there one of the dearest on the market, actually fibreglass and plastic . U don't know shit
LOL thats why most racers use yamaha or kawasaki
@offroadingfreack97 oh, sorry you were talking about the RXP not the RXP-X... yes you can. The bars are the Renthal big bar (ProTaper size) kit. classic jet skier cant even tie a bowline
he was in a hurry
That's not an excuse.. It takes less time to tie a bowline that 2 half hitches.
Toby McGuire Calm down dude. I simply made a comment that had nothing to do with you so there is no reason you need to be like that.
skiboy806 is a smartass
krpal10 making assumptions... if calling me names through the internet puts a smile on your face then you're a sad man. im not going to fight with some kid over something i said that has nothing to do with you.
The video was awesome. Not shaky or anything. It looked cool when you had to tie the tow rope to your ski in that choppy water.
dude you saved the shit out of that ski, another minute itwould have been a coral reef. great job on not panicking and gettin shit done.
Those bars are the Renthal fat bars. That ski had the UNI steering stem that allows you to use any bars you would like. You can also use the stock steering (with some mods) and use any 7/8 mx bar. Great work on staying calm & being prepared !
Yep, adhesive mounts. I do have a stainless tether I made to attach the camera to something on the ski , like the bars or rear grab handle.
wow. great on your part for filming this
there is a rubber coupling between the header and the waterbox muffler, that coupling likes to pop off if not properly tightened or if you do a hard landing forcing pressurized water up the exhaust. good thing you acted fast man
Good save
@D34THBYSH4RP Thank you. Actually sold that ski to one of the other guys on the race team and got the 2012 px. Both great skis!
Aw man, sorry about your ski and (incomplete) day of riding :/. By the way, that's a pretty cool song your friends made. It's really catchy! I'll have to add it to my "jetskiing jams" playlist and totally rock out to it next time I ride ^_^
Drained it, fixed it and then sold it to a friend. It is still running strong. You can see it in my ramp jumping videos... has the number 245 on it.
I just got the Jettribe carbon helmet, but was using a specialized full face mountain bike helmet before that. Most people are using mx helmet either with the visor really loose with plastic screws, or no visor at all. Get a neck brace of some sort. Nice save man! You just added a thing to my check list before I head out! Lol exhaust clamp is tight! Check!!
That has a UMI steering stem. Once you have that you can put any bars on there that you want. Those happen to be the Renthal thick tube bars.
Sorry Brent. Having too much fun playing with the kiddies. Feel better now! :)
you got her goin ok though right? Thinking of gettin one . But up here in labrador, the water is to damn cold to sink, lol
So did the carbon seal go? Or a exhaust hose? Next investment I highly recommend is a bilge pump! Hope your out on the water soon!.
Exhaust hose... pretty crazy! Back on the water this week for sure!
Best jet ski video on youtube!
Yep, exhaust hose. It is usually on the plastic resonator. Because it is plastic, it is sometimes hard to get the clamp to tighten enough to hold it on. A leak in the hose will do the same thing.
Yep, got it going again and is still a great ski!
No, exhaust hose leak. We flushed it out and were left with some wiring problems from the salt water.
Yep, that is why it was kind of bobbing in the water. They will not completely sink unless you take the foam out.
They are mx bars. The UMI steering setup is what you need to change and then you can run any bars you would like. Thank you!
Good thing your buddy had his
Seadoo Rxt260IS! To save you! 😂
I love mine!
2004 Sea-Doo RXP. I made it through and so did the RXP, so all good. It was a trip while it was happening though!!!
@macfan999 Yeah, it was about a 2 inch rupture in the main rubber exhaust hose. It started spewing water into the hull and filled it up fast! I was back out the next weekend even though I still had a few water logged related kinks to work out.

I'm sure you found the issue. I had the exact same issue this year. It was the exhaust hose that runs from the waterbox to muffler came loose.
the reverse nut came loose? same happened to my ski and it filled up fast but not as fast as urs.
Yeah, have had that happen also lol.I was so thankful I was out with a couple friends and it just reinforced my new moto... "never go wave jumping alone!"
It was an exhaust hose leak that was spraying water into the hull. It was a simple fix once it was safe back on land.
One was a Watercraft Superstore custom cover and the other was a custom seat with the foam cut and a custom made cover.
Looks like you guys had a fun day ahead of ya, too bad you didn't get to finish it, at least it didn't sink though.
same thing happened to a buddy of mine. we yanked the seat off when we started to pull you should seen the water pouring out. Great grab on the keys!
Definitely! The song is in the description.
Dont these have a bit of foam in them? Even one of our small outboard boats we had had some floatation in it.
@GREENcolor111 Me too!!! I'm not going to lie, it was pretty freaky thinking back on it. I went out and bought a coast guard beacon the next day lol.
Been there, done that, hit a cruiser wave and the flywheel cover came off. Didn't know what to do so tried to ride in but it was so loud thought I was gonna blow something up. So stopped for a bit and began to sink. Luckily another waverunner came by and towed me in
Same thing happened to me the other weekend!! Unfortunately I was in the St Johns with a few to many gators.

how did it feel when she almost flipped on you. Must have been one crazy day!
Wanted the px for this race season... the rxp is awesome though. A friend of mine bought it and I still like riding it.

Yep, it is the UNI steering stem with fat renthal bars and clamp setup.
That must have been scary! Luckily you weren't riding alone!
It was an exhaust hose leak. There was not much jumping that day, we were just headed out. We went out about every weekend though... definitely beat on it!
so what did it turn out to be? I ride a ski in Miami. good to have friends and rope with you :)
It was an exhaust hose leak!

Actually pretty happy... still runs great and it was just a rubber hose. Honda still uses those too don't they? lol
No, not often. It does happen though. Get a bilge pump, a eperb and don't ride alone unless you are really confident in your ski!
nice save on the ski man
Not really sure on that one... mostly have experience with the 4 strokes. If you are racing you would probably want to change it out, but normal use may be alright.
great video and great example of why you should always ride with friends. sorry that happened to you but glad it wasn't worse
I have not been there much this year because of racing. Probably be there more December-February I hope!
what problably happened is that the engine stalled and the water being pulled up into the empeller got backwashed due to the fact it had shut down completely. after that it started to flood the engine compartment. in other words, you probably had a bad seal on the impeller or the intake. @offroadingfreack97 The Renthal or Pro Taper big bar kits @ the motocross shop, and google umi steering for whatever ski you have and you'll find it.
I feel your pain, thats hard to look at, was the ski fixable in the end ??
