Those (white lights) aren't SAE fogs, but rather DD SAE Driving (auxilliary high beams) → (on 2nd viewing, I see that you labeled them right, only called them fogs). The actual SAE Fog (pros) are 80 degrees wide and make a remarkable difference to the side and out front. I've actually installed both the SAE Driving and SAE fog (DD SS3s Pros) on my truck, and they are phenomenal. That said, great video.
That's correct, I called them "fogs" due to the location of them being in the stock Ranger fog light location. They are in fact the driving beam pattern, which watching back I only really mentioned once or twice in the final edit. Sorry for the confusion!
@@SolaOutdoors - no worries, it was a great video. Only because I've installed quite a few DD SS3s on my truck and my friends' truck did it immediately jump out. Fantastic job SHOWING the light output and the differences. So many "reviews" are more about unboxing, sniffing/licking the box, and installing the lights (and maybe pointing a camera at the lights to show how bright they are). It's a much more informative video to get real-world imagery comparing side by side. Thanks again and great job.
@@JRSLASH - DD SS3 SAE Fog are SAE compliant and do an excellent job of containing/aiming the light where you want it (as opposed to, for example, BD Squadron Wide Cornering). I run several pair of BD Squadrons in every offered pattern option, and all of them piss off on-coming traffic if aimed for my (maximum) benefit. The DD SS3 SAE Fogs are bright and usable without irritating oncoming traffic. The DD SS3 SAE Driving is essentially a supplemental highbeam, so they will irritate oncoming traffic (like OEM high beams) but are very effective, too.
I just installed these yesterday and I have NO IDEA how you did this in the dark! And yes your video is accurate on the brightness....although I did go with the SS3 Max Fog so the beam definitely goes to the edges a lot further.
Great vid. Much more useful review then many I’ve seen. Both look great! Just ordered myself the MAX white fogs to replace the terrible halogen fogs on my ‘19 F350. I’ll try to share my experience when I get them installed. Cheers!
@@SolaOutdoors I’ve had the DD SS3 Max fogs on my in white on my F350 now for over a month and they’re fantastic. Throw is good, I currently have them angled up slightly to compensate for the poor halogens until I get those units replaced. Width is exceptional, really highlights your peripheral. Install was super easy, just unbolt metal plate over housing, unbolt stock light. Connect new light, bolt in, replace plate. Done. I’m considering a set of these in the back maybe with a hybrid lens for backing my fifth wheel at night. Great lights and quality built. Thanks again for your vid!
@@jimbaker1982 thanks for the follow up! I've been pretty impressed with our Pros and I'm supplementing our headlights with some Pro SSC2 ditch lights when we're offroad. They really know how to design a lens!
I've never seen a pair of decent OEM foglights. Just one example: My 2017 Subaru Crosstrek foglights light up about 6' in front. I don't know why they even bother, or why it's so difficult to put foglights in that at least function as such.
Nice review! Do you think that by getting the 6k White SS3 and then using the Amber lens would give similar effect? I am pondering getting these, thanks
FYI the Amber lights are 4000K LEDs whereas the White lights are 6000K LEDs. You can convert the White to Yellow but just remember its not going to look the same as with the warmer LED with the Amber lens.
Just got mine, the mounts kinda suck TBH. I don't like the slotted mount to the lamp, shich can't really be tightened once in the bumper. Wish the brackets were a little more thought out.
Comparing fogs to driving lenses? DD has made amazing lights, I want the amber max fog lights, like that they can come with a backlight option!!!! Awesome video!
I decided to spring for the MAX version of the SAE yellow fogs and, while they are noticeably brighter than the yellow Sola Outdoors has in his video, I'm not sure most would consider it worth more than 2x the price over the Sport, but I certainly did and wouldn't go back.
Very impressed and very entertaining! I definitely like the fog lights because it will help me see the road better when driving with my trailer on the desert dirt road. I am going to check out their website for a '17 Ford F150. Thank you.
@@SolaOutdoors - would love to see comparison of DD SSC2 SAE Fog versus BD S2 Pros (wide cornering) ... for entirely selfish reasons: I've installed BD S2 Sports on wife's van just 14" off the ground (and they aren't bright enough); so naturally looking for "upgrade." My concern is the van - unlike truck - is much lower to the ground and good throw without blinding oncoming traffic is much more important.
Solid pick from another Nick, especially the selective yellow for the lower K emitter. Love them on my 4Runner! I'm about to install the SS3's for ditch lights as well.
We love them too! Its amazing how much more light they put out than any OEM setup I've ever seen. We've got the SSC2's for ditch lights that we're testing for a future video, and so far we're loving them too
I had intentionally left them slightly loose in the bracket so that I could do that by hand. You can tighten them down when you're happy with the alignment and they stay put
We're about to release a video on the SSC2 Pro lights from DD, not sure if those are on your bid list but we were pretty impressed with them as well. Not as bright as the SS3, but a lot more streamlined as far as the design goes
Yes, they're 100% plug and play. The adapters they come with go straight into the factory plug/harness and you can control them with the same button as the old fog lights
I saw on another video if you get the amber fog lights and swap to white, the white light Provided will we same as the 4k, not a pure 6k color... if you get the white fog lights 6k and swap to amber you will not get a pure amber color.. still get the amber color but is going to be more like blended color.. is it true or not?
From our testing, this wasn't the case. Ours were originally sold as the amber/yellow fog lights and we had the white driving lens sent separately. As a note, the amber lenses are much closer to a yellow output than amber, so that is something to consider. The white output was close to a 6k color in our testing. The LEDs themselves natively output in white
@@SolaOutdoors Diode Dynamics specifically says they use different LEDs in the amber and white pods. The LED in the amber lights is 4000k while the LED in the whites is 6000k. They told me this directly after I griped about only having 3000k and 6000k to choose from.

Can't blame him. I installed this(sports SAE yellow) in my Taco, took me 30 mins for both sides.
Do they really?!?! Thanks for responding
Man watching these videos about these lights I’ve stumbled upon some incredible channels that don’t get nearly enough recognition. Love the video!
I'm convinced. I'll be ordering a set of Both; fog and driving . . I live in the high country; so they'll be the ticket.👍👍
As someone from the desert, I can confirm we have loooong straight roads. The curvy mountain passes…well…not so straight
Awesome video, thanks for making it!
Great video! Love the production quality here. Can't wait to see your channel take off!
Thanks! I really appreciate that!

They need 2 wide angle yellows and 2 white floods together in each pod so you have distance & wide angle at the same time.
I just ordered the white pro fog kit for my F150. Your video is a great review for these lights.
