With the camera exposure settings being manual, I am able to show you the accurate difference between the two lights, brightness, range, and color temperature too.
Spoiler alert:
Diode Dynamics fog lights has better cut off, so it is definitely more suitable for on-road usage. However, due to the better cut off, any area outside of the beam pattern will not be lit at all so it may not be ideal for offroad usage. Meanwhile, Baja Designs Squadron Sport Wide cornering has decent focus and not too sharp of a cut off, it allows light to spill outside of the focused pattern and therefore, illuminates adjacent areas better, which makes it more ideal for offroad usage. Both lights has their place, it all comes down to what your needs are.
Also, I throw in some footages of my ditch lights (rigid d-ss pro driving pattern) and big led pods (Auxbeam 9 inch driving lights) for comparison.
Side note, I understand the Baja Design Squadron has their SAE version, however it has exactly the same beam pattern with wide-cornering and is just a dimmer version of the sport or pro. Therefore, it will still produce spill/glare to the on-coming traffic. I know Baja Design just announced their new SAE lens design so I will sure be testing them out once they become available.

I went with DD SS3 Max for my Fogs , and Baja D Squadron pro ditch lights and Baja D s8 40” roof rack light bar. I do a lot of street driving which makes the DDSS3 perfect but when I want to go off road I always cut on my Baja Ditch lights and Baja S8 40” roof rack light bar. Perfect setup!
Diode Dynamics also have their SS3 Max fog lights, which are even brighter than the Pro, yet remain SAE compliant. Most of my driving is on road, so the DD made more sense for me.

I am sure max would be sweet but at that price point, I just feel like the ROI is declining.
Excellent video! Good shots, really shows the beam patterns well. The sport actually seems very bright, easily as bright as the Diode pro. I agree with you. Both would be nice.

Great to see the comparison. Baja better for off-road, diode better beam for on road. I went with the sports but I might switch over to the max or pro for more light output. Black Friday sales are so tempting right now.
Yea. With how much their price went up before the discount, I say pro is good but max is no compromise
This is a much better video than the last one I saw of yours. Diode Dynamics make some of the best on-road lighting par none however if you want off-road lighting, Baja Designs is definitely the go-to. I run both of these on my Jeep. Good vid!

One being an SAE rated light and the other not, completely negates any relevant points when comparing these two lights.
Not true. This helps me see what the practical difference is so I can decide which lights in the system to get SAE and which ones would be better kept in the back pocket for non SAE use. Very useful comparison, actually
I'm writing from Spain buddy. Unfortunately is difficult for us import this extraordinary fog lights for our 4x4. Nevertheless is the best test I never see concerning fog lights. Other ones are not so practical but only theoretical with specs and patterns on the wall but no much more. Your is very practical and useful on the field. This is the most interesting for us. Having owned the DD sport sae amber and now currently BD sport wide cornering, I liked that my DD’s wired directly to my Jeep fog switch. But the BD light output is superior and the video shows this clearly. I love the powerful even spread, even its not quite as wide. I only use them for dark highway driving or off road though. The BD will blind oncoming traffic and my DD’s never got me flashed. Excellent and accurate video

This video isn't comparable since DD is SAE-compliant and the BD pods you're using don't include the new insert that limits the light output to be SAE-compliant. The old reflector optic you have in this video blinds on-coming traffic and isn't road legal.
Baja designs SAE version actually fails the standard, its not much different than their regular version

That’s what I heard as well, couldn’t get the budget of getting both sae and wide cornering.
You may have said it in the video but it’s not in the title and it IS a pretty severe handicap when one is sae and the other is not.
In most states running fog lights on roads in traffick elegal. No matter the type Only off road. You can only run white driving light of certain britness . Flood or spot light elegal. So are mixed spot flood . People use them as driving lights blinding everyone but get cought huge fines .
Hello there. Did you use your stock mounting brackets for your new bumper? I have Baja design fog lights and wanna keep them on my tundra. But not sure if they need another mounting brackets to make this possible.

The BD Sports have a much better fog light pattern than the DD. Thank you for the comparison.
Not a great comparsion between the two lights. It is apples to oranges, you should have compared the Baja Designs Squadron PRO not the SPORT. They are on an uneven playing field, which is why the Diode light appears to have more output. I would recommend comparing both PRO models.
nah. The pro of Baja design is more to the max trim of diode. Just because they are both called pro doesn’t mean they are apples to apples.
Why do your Diode Dynamics lights look so different than on their website or even your link below? Yours look reset into a shroud & none of the Diode Dynamics lights on their website have that. Did you add it a shroud??

Just curious how you aimed both sets of fogs perfectly forward in order to be able to judge the difference in beam width… one can easily just aim the housings slightly outward if they wanted wider pattern. I ask because my flushmount BD wides are mounted on a flat forward facing portion of my bumper, and angling the lights outward is not as simple.
I just had them pointed in the same direction, it’s not 100% perfect but it works
How can you compare a cornering light with a fog? The name alone says that they are different. Just because an apple and an orange are both fruit doesn’t mean they are they are comparable.
You do realize the bajas current “Sae” lens is also wide cornering right? Same pattern.

Well, yeah it is an off-road light. Their SAE is incredible though.
How is the Auxbeam hold up after all these months? Comparison for diode , Baja and Auxbeam few months later now?
Auxbeam is holding up just as good as the others. Weather sealing is still like new.
Maybe a SS3 Pro Combo beam and a SS3 Pro Fog would be a better mix

@@neilmurphy4301 Yellow light penetrates snow, dust, & fog better, where as white light reflects & bounces off of the particles making it much harder to see. It's physics.
