@@johnjohn-kd7fl This comment reminds me of the Western RUGGLES OF RED GAP (1935) where English butler Charles Laughton enters the Old West, seeking a job and transport from St. Louis to mythical California. He takes the job as a cook on a wagon train. Some questions of his qualifications are abruptly halted by a very angry, violent looking cowboy. "There's only one question you need to answer - do you skin the sheep before cooking it?" Everyone at that table start nodding. "Oh yeah - answer THAT one." The movie mirrors the period after Rome fell, which ushered in the Dark Ages, a period of lawlessness and chaos throughout Europe when western civilization was all but destroyed. The Benedictine Monks collected and saved the great works of art and literature, most importantly the Bible, and they used them to rebuild the world by spreading their wisdom. They spread seeds of Goodness using the teachings of Jesus and Judeo-Christian philosophy, and famously transcribed many copies of the bible by hand before the invention of the printing press. At the end of the movie Eli is dressed in white and his attire is reminiscent of the monks, and the woman becomes the vessel to spread the new seeds of civilization based on what she has learned, and God will keep her safe just as He did for Eli.

There are levels of blindness. You can be blind and still see shapes, objects, colors and light without seeing details. He isn't blind like most people think of total blindness.
I like to think that the bald guy in a weird way found god or felt a glimpse of the Holy spirit despite never knowing anything about religion. He is the one that mentioned Eli was somehow protected, and before he died he felt compelled to get on his knees and look up into the heavens. He knew without knowing.
It didn't seem like you fully understood the ending how Eli was blind the whole movie, he reacted to sounds and was protected by god, supposedly when he was shot, lightning flashed which protected him so he didn't die until his mission was fully completed. Or at least they didn't react to it in the UA-cam version at least..... I really like how the director zoomed in on Denzels seemingly sightless, unblinking eyes as he was reciting the bible cutting back and forth between Gary Oldmans character and Jennifer Beals' character.... Seems pretty obvious that he is blind himself lol.
Yeah, for sure God made the bullets miss him in the gunfight or had His angels do it, and the same with Eli constantly hearing God's voice telling him when to duck, where to move, etc.
I have seen this movie so many times and never knew he was blind, I just thought he learned to read braille and it was just an ingenious way to protect the word.
One of those rare movies you literally have to watch twice, the initial viewing then after the big reveal at the end watch it again to see all the clues you missed that indicated he was blind for example after the run in with those bandits he backs up under the bridge 6:00 one may think he did that to give himself a fighting chance as there is no light there but that’s not why, he backed up under the bridge to use echo location so with the sounds bouncing off the walls he could better pinpoint where his attackers were and defend himself accordingly, there’s clues throughout the entire movie like that upon 2nd viewing!
That's not from flesh, though, as prions are more concentrated in the nerve tissue. Cannibal societies generally see it (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease [CJD], the human equivalent of mad cow disease) manifest itself in people of lower cultural status, who don't get the prime cuts and have to eat organs, brains, etc as their meals. I would think in a world where starvation was always looming, they wouldn't be picky and allow any of a food-body go to waste, though, so that's not a plot hole of any kind.
The “trap” woman on the road was played by Lora Martinez-Cunningham. She’s done mainly series work, like an episode of Breaking Bad. But she was also in Sicario.
The best part about this movie is now that you know that he is blind go back and watch it again if you pay attention to the subtle things he does that show he is blind that you did not notice like stumbling over things even the gun fights you can see him listening and then shooting were he heard an enemy shot.
This is a great, but very underrated, movie. I love that the details needed to fully understand how powerful the book really is aren't given right away, nor is the fact that Eli is blind. Very clever story-telling. Also, I love that Abby just happened to reference Sirius Black when the actor who played him(Gary Oldman) is in this movie lol.

Everyone was fighting in the end because the man who they feared lost all his enforcers looking for the book. He had controlled their access to water but once his goons were mostly dead his power was gone.
There is a deleted scene where Claudia is sitting in bed next to a dying Carnegie and she is reading aloud from the Bible, clearly showing that she does indeed still remember how to read braille. The scene gave the impression of her looking like a Mother Theresa type of figure, possibly showing that she will also go on to spread the word of God.
For myself I am a Christian at that believe in the Almighty in the book of Eli is in the Bible but I forget which one it is because of things that have happened a year ago long ago wanted to stop by and say thank you to her and put the word in there for the Bible because because even though it took me a year to read my Bible because I'm in a third grade level of reading I just wanted to say thank you and God bless you all and when I walked out of the theater I found a new purpose in life and I praise his name and cried cried all the way home and some people ask me what made you cry so much I told him it was a movie called The book of Eli I understood it and I loved it

Congratulations guys, This must be the first reaction to Eli i've seen where the people reacting to the film never figured out that Denzels character was Blind ! Now that you are aware try watching again and figure out all the sound clues that help guid Eli on his path. This film is brilliant on so many levels, like ending with such a twist, and the filming in saturated film to show the atmosphere and landscape is void of colour to emphasize a world in a post apocolyptic state.

It can be hard to know what movies Gary Oldman has been in. The man is part chameleon. Sometimes, even when he’s just looking like a regular guy, it’s what he does that makes him stand out, like in Leon. Other times, like in Dracula or True Romance, both his appearance and his mannerisms shift so far to being the character, he’s entirely unrecognizable.

Don Simpson & Jerry Bruckheimer (my alltime favourite movie producers/directors) made me aware of Jennifer Beals early on,with giving her the lead role in Flashdance, wich might be my absolute favourite "dance movie". Maybe closely followed by Dirty Dancing. She has improved soo much in her acting since then, she just always had a natural way of acting really believable,i love her! Even in more recent years, she still looks like a "IRL Pocahontas". Stunning lady! I have always admired Gary Oldman and Denzel (as you already know from me replying to Man On Fire then The Equalizer 1 & 2) Washingtons acting skills,2 absolute giants that can play just about anything. (i know Toy mentioned Training Day once with right, one of Denzels best bad guy roles) I did not have huge expectations towards Mila Kunis in front of this movie, simply because i had barely seen her in stuff. But she impressed me! She was the perfect fit as Jennifer Beals`s daughter,as they look very similar. Want me to bring out my movie geek for you ladies regarding The Book Of Eli,in regards to the cast? 29:21 Thats Ray Stevenson,he doesnt give too much insight to his character here, maybe abit at the end here with Mila Kunis`s character, when he knew his time was up. Marvelous actor though, want me to tip you off on a stunning production he is part of,where he is 1 of many lead roles? King Arthur (2004) A movie with a cast consisting of a bunch of the most attractive, talented actors and actresses out there at the time, and a lovely but brutal story about the friendship a bunch of people got through being forcefully picked as kids (at random),to then go on to fight alongside and for eachother as adults. Here is to name just some from this cast: Keira Knightley as Guinevere,Clive Owen as King Arthur,Ray Stevenson as Dagonet,Ray Winstone as Bors,Hugh Dancy as Galahad,Ioan Gruffudd as Lancelot, Joel Edgerton as Gawain, Stellan Skarsgård as Cerdic, Til Schweiger as Cynric. Stunning scenery/landscapes,epic fight scenes, brilliant acting and dialogues...... very underrated movie in my eyes. And in this movie you will see Ray Stevenson as the knight Dagonet, where he really shines in both as a great fighter/knight and as a loyal friend. So if you want to see this actor from his best side, this movie is a must-see. I would put it alongside movies like Troy,Braveheart,Rob Roy,even Lord Of The Rings abit. Masterful soundtrack, sets the right mood throughout the movie.
Eli quotes multiple passages from the Bible in this film. In the bar fight scene, he quotes Genesis 3:17-19. In the scene where Eli and Solara are resting in the mill, he recites the first 3 verses of Psalm 23. During the walk before they find the house, he quotes 2 Corinthians 5:8 "I walk by faith not by sight." In the scene where he tells the curator what to write he quotes the first 3 verses of Genesis 1. In the final scene before the movie cuts to credits Eli quotes 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." Also, yes there is s translation called the New King James Version. It's actually much easier to read than the original King James Version of the Bible without the archaic Shakespearean English. That's my go to Bible.
I MUST SAY THIS IS A ACTION BIBLICAL MOVIE CLASSIC 🎥🍿 DENZEL DID WELL IN THIS ROLE SO AWESOME ONCE AGAIN I LOVE TO SEE U REACT TO ONE OF FAVORITE ACTION MOVIES MY BEAUTIFUL FINE TOY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ KISSES 😘😘
I think if the movie did a cop out and let Eli live in the end, it would’ve done better in the box office. But it was a better film for the way it ended.
He's legally blind. They give you clues like he feels the dead bodies for shoes. He listens for the hawk. He also listened to the men trying to shoot him. Their terr shot because they don't have enough bullets to practice.
If you want a great quirky Gary Oldham movie and Tim Roth in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. They play two of Hamlet from Shakespeare's friends having philosophical conversations in the back ground when they aren't part of the goings on. Richard Dreyfus is in it and the guy who played Jorah and also Meister Aemon from Game of Thrones. One goes on about the mind and one goes on about science. It's really interesting and funny as well.
Abraham lived in the land of Ur where they worshipped a god known as "El". El was the high god who oversaw all the lesser gods. "In the beginning, God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Elohim is the plural form of El. Obviously then, "Eli" is a form of "El" so the "Book of Eli" is also the "Book of God".
I have a book that has step by step instructions on how to make a cat into a banjo. Now, I'm not a huge bluegrass fan, but I can understand the necessity.

This movie always puts me in a mood to go back and revisit Fallout games. There is Yet another actor worth mentioning. Ray Stevenson, the big, bald main henchman. I really liked him in the Rome mini-series and his literaition of Punisher in Punisher: War Zone. underrated movie and i love the opening music very much.
It's hilarious to see how you totally missed the part where he was blind the entire movie. You'll see lots and lots of clues like him reacting to persons/animals only after they make a sound, bumping into a table, feeling a shelf looking for things, feeling a skeleton while looking for boots, pressing the MP3 player buttons when it was obvious the display was showing low battery, etc.
For this movie ( or the sequel ) Washington had a clip for promoting the movie ( often on talk shows ). In the clip he's in a surrounded house, then throws a book-sized object ( which is a bomb ) near a car. Then it explodes, but the exact point of the explosion is off from where the bomb landed ( enough to notice ). The people working on the movie with a job for checking this stuff should have noticed this. It just looks odd.
Jessica Beals played a great Cinderella on this series of fairy tales You should check her out or react to it whatever, they are really good take on red riding hood, snow while but my favorite is Cinderella cause Jessica is so sweet in the role

King Arthur (2004)
A movie with a cast consisting of a bunch of the most attractive, talented actors and actresses out there at the time, and a lovely but brutal story about the friendship a bunch of people got through being forcefully picked as kids (at random),to then go on to fight alongside and for eachother as adults.
Wow thank you for sharing!! 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
On the DVD alternate ending, it shows that night the blind lady sitting in the room reading the Bible.
I have kept the faith."
Also, yes there is s translation called the New King James Version.

U very my boo Toy ♥️♥️♥️♥️ it's always such a delight my love 😘❤️❤️ ready for your next reaction ❤️
I think if the movie did a cop out and let Eli live in the end, it would’ve done better in the box office. But it was a better film for the way it ended.
Good Friday everyone🙂
Did you know that it used to be called Black Friday?
@hugoz.7281 -- Quoting Christ himself, "GOOD Friday??? Frankly, I've had better."
LAW ABIDING CITIZEN with Gerard Butler.....one of the smartest movies ever
perfect reaction. I've seen reactions where the people guessed he was blind from the first scene.
Thanks so much for watching with us!
Toy and Abby really should watch the serial killer movie Copycat (1995). One of them is identical to one of the stars.
Ahhhhh!!! 😂😂😂😂❤
fyi the tinkerer (who opened the book at the end) is Tom Waits, one of the greatest musical talents in America
The guys name is Gary oldman he played in the movie called the professional.
Another great reaction girls, keep up the wonderful work. Y'all ever think about doing a movie called 7 pounds
Toy❤
Abraham lived in the land of Ur where they worshipped a god known as "El". El was the high god who oversaw all the lesser gods. "In the beginning, God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Elohim is the plural form of El. Obviously then, "Eli" is a form of "El" so the "Book of Eli" is also the "Book of God".
At 29:40 he faces to the east for a reason. All headstones in cemeteries faces the east for the return of Jesus/Yeshua.
Eli got what we all would hope to get.
Eternal bliss, divine rest and $10000 cash.
😹
I have a book that has step by step instructions on how to make a cat into a banjo.
Now, I'm not a huge bluegrass fan, but I can understand the necessity.
Just in case you didn't realize he was blind
mother played by jennifer beals... debut in "flash dance" movie
Noooo you missed the most insane reveal of movie history. He was blind 😢😢
12:38 they were blinded by global thermonuclear warfare

Would you have survived in this world?
This movie always puts me in a mood to go back and revisit Fallout games. There is Yet another actor worth mentioning. Ray Stevenson, the big, bald main henchman. I really liked him in the Rome mini-series and his literaition of Punisher in Punisher: War Zone. underrated movie and i love the opening music very much.
To him the word of God would put people in his control
Girl with cat her very smart
you KNOW its good if it stars, DENZINGTON, clintwood, jackleson, kevner, thanks, nage, et al
I think I see just where Abby's gummies kicked in lol
I wish they would do a sequel to this one its such a fun watch. And more like Falling in Love with Abby every reaction of hers lmao.
Sounds like that promo clip was taken from a rough draft of the movie not the final cut.
Jessica Beals played a great Cinderella on this series of fairy tales
You should check her out or react to it whatever, they are really good take on red riding hood, snow while but my favorite is
Cinderella cause Jessica is so sweet in the role
Great reaction to a great movie
Thanks for watching with us!
