Guys if you have not already watched it please consider being the first channel to react to An Officer & a Gentleman with Richard Gere. Such a great movie, a love story, a buddy movie and a military movie all in one. Gere plays a man who joins the Navy to better themselves and get a pilot licence but he has to make through some of the toughest training there is. Also it has one of the most iconic endings.
Hi guys, good reaction, can you react to the movie m3gan please
All right damn it.... If Fallen (1998) isn't put on your list of Denzel movies to watch immediately, I'm disowning you guys.🙂
He was traveling on blind faith!
This is a great movie about Spirituality, belief in God and how powerful his words and the Bible are! It also shows how human beings have used the Bible as a weapon to brainwash, control, enslave, subjugate, and take advantage of people especially those who are going through difficult times! People used the Lord's words in vain while lying to people! and pretending to spread the word of God!
Steven: "I love going into this movies completely blind..." Denzel: Hold my kukri knife
Yes 🤣🤣🤣
This comment needs more likes honestly
For like half a second, I questioned whether Steven had already seen the film. 😆 That was perfect.
Yep, kukris are so much fun!
It’s not really a kukri. It was designed specifically for the movie as a cross between a sword and a machete. It’s similar to a makhaira, and somewhat resembles a Filipino tenegre, but not really a kukri.
The joke about not seeing the sign also hints at him being blind. I love this movie.
Along with The Sixth Sense and Book of Eli, I had to watch a couple of times because I didn't catch a lot on first viewing.
The coolest hint to his "condition" was the shootout in the middle of town. He only shot when someone shot first or ran by. He had to hear where they were before firing. So cool
Didn't even think of that.
The same at the old couples home, when the elder man says “Didn’t you read the sign?” Eli responds “I’m very sorry, I didn’t see it.” Even though they pass by it.
@@okikid06 And its supposed to play off as a little joke too, before knowing the twist at the end.
@@okikid06and Mila couldn’t read the sign since she was born after the boom
Also right in the very beginning of the movie when the raiders try to ambush him not only could he smell them he stepped into the shadows under the bridge which gave him the advantage
Crazy reveal at the end, everybody focuses on the fact he was blind but I’m just as impressed he memorized the Bible word for word!
I feel like he just bullshitted his way through a lot of it. And nobody would know.
Inspired by the Islamic faith i suppose, the Muslims memorize the holy Quran, there are millions who have memorized it word for word.. meaning you cannot edit it, get rid of it, etc. the Bible? name me one non-fictional person. it's just impossible, the way the Quran is constructed makes it a lot easier, The Creator also said, we have made it easy to remember, so is there anyone who will remember? unlike the Bible. lol
@@TheAnarchious The whilst having physical copies was memorised generation to generation by hearing already. The Jews have been doing it since the Levites became priests.
WATCH!! ❗❗❗
John Q - Denzel Washington
@@TheAnarchious quran 78,000 words. Bible 800,000+ words.. quran is ''constructed'' from the Bible and torah so mohammed could have his own faith to do whatever he pleased just like the anglican church was created so the english king could do as he pleased, just like catholicism, just like the mormon church, just like scientolegy etc etc etc...
history is full of people making their own books to excert control over other people
therefore you don,t believe by remembering words
you believe in God or you don,t
-the Bible (or koran for that matter) are tools
-praying is an act
-living life is expressing it.
everything is based around 3 or trinity.
God, the Son, Gods spirit
and that is when the people start to mock.
adding or retracting from Gods Holy book or try to make it how you see fit is a deadly sin and it will never end well for anyone
misusing it caused a war and even after that war and people burned the bibles, still someone wants to misuse the bible for his own gains.
this is why religion in itself is not the problem, its the people whom take advantage of it is.
having faith based just around words is worthless,
walking by faith is everything
that is what this movie is about.
it was not inspired by the islamic faith either people been memorizing the torah/bible even before the quran was made...
if you would have seen the end of the movie you would see that the Bible is placed next to the quran next to other religious books etc.
having faith in the Holy trinity was never based around books, so everyone can have faith even those that can,t read, are blind or otherwise challenged could come to the Faith..
so not sure what the ''lol'' at the end stands for but oh well.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Denzel turn in a bad performance. He’s just one of those actors.
first saw him in Crimson tide... holding his own a "relative" new actor vs the great Gene Hackman ... both shined in that move.. and since then i really like every movie of Denzel...
@Roel Ven That movie is so good! There's a lot of older movies by him that I haven't seen, so it's always a treat when I finally decide to sit down and watch one.
If I'm on the fence about a movie and I see Denzel is in it, I watch it, simple as.
@@evilsponge6911 Facts. Not only is he an amazing actor, he is very particular about the movies he participates in.
If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend John Q. Nikki will have tears. Lots and lots of tears. As a parent... this movie will touch you and piss you off at the same time
I named my son Eli because of this movie, he’ll be 12 this month!!
Eli was LITERALLY on a mission to give the world its Bible back since he memorized it word for word because all the books had been destroyed, no way the Lord was gonna let that man die until his mission was complete! Powerful when you think about it.
When I was was twelve I was taught to play the sax in a church basement by a blind man. He didn't have a guide dog and never used a cane. Still he never bumped into anything and had amazing sense of where everything and everyone was. He could pick me out from a crowd even though I kept silent. He never ceased to amaze me.
Your music teacher was actually Matthew Murdock. As well are you Catholic? it can't be confirmed but your music teacher may be the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.
Was his name Eli, by chance?
These are actually the only type of blind people I have ever met or they would have a guide dog but not on a leash.
@@oboogie2 His name was Dick Masters. This was in Marion, Indiana in a Pentecostal church in the early 60's. The man was gigantic and his alto sax looked like a toy in his hands. He was a phenomenal sax player and one night I watched him go through the church orchestra and played every instrument there except for the brass instruments (he didn't have the lips for those). If it had a reed, a keyboard, strings, or sticks he could play it.
@@dunbarf2413 lol
Kudos to Mila Kunis. She came with her A Game for this one. When Eli prayed, "Please watch over her as you have watched over me", that may be the most impactful request throughout the film, because she left with power and authority, neither of which did she have when she arrived.
I mean when you're acting alongside Denzel Washington, you gotta bring your A-game lol
I agree I believe this is her greatest work. I watch this movie at least 4 times a year. She absorbed this role
One thing that always gets me in this movie is when Eli gets shot notice the lightning bolt in the background. A sign from God
It seemed like well-timed divine interference in order to keep him alive to finish his task.
Like the crack of lightning as the spear pierced Jesus Christ.
God saw
I've seen this movie a couple of times, but this was the first time I had noticed the flash of lightning ⚡
Wow, I had not paid attention to that.
You two identifying with the cannibals is great fun! From "that's us!" to "aww hell no".
As someone that has been fairly religious my entire life, I know of scriptural references of Prophets being protected until they finished the task appointed to them. And the idea the Eli is a warrior Prophet of God tasked with delivering His word back to His people is incredibly powerful. We don't get too many religion based action films and this one was really well done.
This is 1 of those movies that's fun to rewatch after knowing the twist & wondering how Eli was able to do all of the things he did, as well as noticing little details you didn't see the 1st time you watched it.
So true!
There is no twist in this movie.
@@chadf86 bruh did you even watch it lmao, the twist was that he was blind the entire time.
@@chadf86 seriously? Are you blind?
I knew about the twist before I saw the movie so I was looking for all the indicators of unsaid twist.
Rewatching this with the knowledge that Eli is blind is a lot of fun. You pick up on so many little details, like him constantly bumping into stuff, and he only shoots people after they’ve shot at him first
"Cant you read the sign?!"
"Sorry I didn't see it." LITERALLY
He also clicks his tongue when he walks up to the house.
He's not blind, at least not acting blind in 90% of the movie. This is poor directing. Denzel can clearly see the vast majority of time in this film. Just look at his eyes throughout.
Why does he click his tongue ?
@@MeztliZen l saw a doco about a blind 20 year old that rides a bike by clicking his tongue a listening for the echo, could walk along a wall a few yards form it and tell where the gate was, amazing a human with echolocation.
The earth landscape represents purgatory, Mila's character represents the rebirth of innocence , Eli represents a 13th Appostle. The blind woman represents the bringer of faith and the meek will inherit the earth.
Very Powerful statement Tony, there was a disruptive person in the theaters when we went to watch this so I couldn’t have caught what you saw looking back it you are correct.
The beauty of this story is that the bible was the first book mass produced on the first printing press. Today, some of the most priceless books are Gutenberg Bibles, named after the man who invetned the Gutenberg Printing Press, Johannes Gutenberg. The first book prited on the first "moveable type" printing press is also the first book printed on the printing press that Eli recites to them.
I still think that Book of Eli is one of the greatest movies ever filmed. I will nevet get tired watching it over and over again.
It doesn't matter if he is "The chosen one" of if the voice he heard was real or not: He believes he is & belief is a powerful thing.
and unfortunately belief is a very corruptible thing. thats why he wanted the bible so bad. to control people
@@dwood21851 - Yep, because people would have come from far & wide, in the belief that they could be saved/cured/etc. .
But he was chosen~ given a task by God and he fulfilled it .
@@NATIVESUNSETS65 aren't we all chosen?
No we are not " All " chosen , not in the context i wrote , he was given a prophetic task by God
.
Yes many will be chosen to the Supper of the Lamb others will be chosen to endure God's Wrath so yes in a sense we will all be chosen but not with the same fate.
Jesus Christ's parables in the New Testament are warnings and lessons about
rewards and punishments that will be given
to the Goats and the Sheep depending which path we choose, is it the narrow or wide path? Our free will, our choices will determine " How " we are chosen . There's no get out of Jail free card on Judgement Day , We may pray for Forgiveness but Forgiveness does not equate to Salvation , Our fate is in our hands " we " choose how we will be chosen by God by the way we live our lives. Those who have chosen to follow him who he has sent Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior are on the narrow path
and have Chosen Wisely .
Peace
I love how many hints to him being blind they gave. “ I walk by faith not sight”, “ I didn’t see the sign”, the fact he has good smell & hearing, and if you notice @ the beginning when he finds the dead body hanging he don’t realize it’s there until he touches it. Up until that point he only smelled something rotten.
Denzel is a one of kind actor. He's never done a bad movie. This is definitely one of my favorites.
Dear Lord, thank you for giving me the strength and the conviction to complete the task you entrusted to me. Thank you for guiding me straight and true through the many obstacles in my path. And for keeping me resolute when all around seemed lost. Thank you for your protection and your many signs along the way. Thank you for any good that I may have done, I'm so sorry about the bad. Thank you for the friend I made. Please watch over her as you watched over me. Thank you for finally allowing me to rest. I'm so very tired, but I go now to my rest at peace. Knowing that I have done right with my time on this earth. I fought the good fight, I finished the race, I kept the faith.
I love this final monologue so much, and when his grave was revealed, I was a sobbing mess😂
Amazing quote, thank you.
Amen
Many years ago, I had had a really crappy week, and was not in the best of spirit at all. Had known God for some time, but just could not get out of this mood.
I decided to watch this movie to get my mind off of the events of the week. I had no clue what this movie was about. But hey it has Denzel.
By the end of this movie and hearing that prayer, I was in tears of joy and reverence. Revitalized. I had forgotten and moved past the weeks events.
This movie will forever hold a special place to me, even though its just a movie.
If you have an understanding of how God can work, this movie is top notch in an example of it.
Not to mention He used the movie to get me out of a spiritual hole.
I have watched it many times and still choke up when I hear the prayer.
Thank you for taking the time to write it for us! I copied and pasted in a safe and convenient place.
😢🥺😭
This is a certified awesome movie. The actors, the story, the visuals. It all just hits.
along with the music and the pacing
Without a doubt! I still want to get the book and read it!
More awesome years later after it's come out.
The end always makes me cry when I watch this. Such a powerful and beautiful closing.
"Cursed be the ground for our sake. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for us. For out of the ground we were taken, for the dust we are... and to the dust we shall return" WOW the way denzel delivered this was amazing
The line is a modified version Genesis 3: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”
One thing I love about this film is that it shows more than it tells. It doesn't waste too much time with "before" beyond whatever's necessary to give context to "right now".
This movie is sooooo underated… I mean its Denzel on his best. Bad ass action scenes, storytelling and acting!!! Love it!!!!
and with a "usual suspects/ shawshank redmptn" level of climax ;)
I'm sorry. I thought it was poorly written and made no sense. All the bibles are gone?
@@cliftonconnor9389 or ur just slow but… it’s alright
2:54 : "I love going into these movies with absolutely no knowledge, completely blind."
A fitting statement for this film, I feel.
I like how when you find out Eli was blind the whole time you rewatch it and actually start to notice all the signs. Before that shootout in town, Eli uses Echolocation by clicking his tongue a few times to know how many men are in front of him. He also clicks his tongue again before he shoots the cat in the beginning of the movie. Before he fights those hijackers he steps back under the bridge so their movements will be louder and make an echo in a confined space. Since one was using a chainsaw that made it better for him.
Apocalypse means few bullets. Few bullets means no firearms training. No training means that when it comes down to it, the goons shoot like stormtroopers. Eli, on the other hand, can hear the gunshots and bullets landing, and can simply shoot at where the bullets are coming from. In this wasteland, his blindness actually gives him a significant combat advantage.
The Apocalypse would mean mostly low quality reloaded bullets using shitty propellants and misfiring primers - guns would jam every few rounds even if perfectly maintained. I think he would have more of an advantage because of the brightness of the terrain. That white sand would probably be dangerous to your eyesight similar to snow and glaciers. Lack of proper nutrition would also probably render nearly everyone night blind.
Wishful thinking. Its just a sci-fi piece, dont overthink it. The guy has super powers.
@@VDViktorno super powers just plot armor and bruh is right

Im so glad to see you guys dropping these classic denzel washington movie reactions... "2 Guns" with denzel and mark wahlberg is another good one
I second that thought
Yes please
I laughed way too hard when Steven said "I love going in blind" at the 3 min mark. Great movie and reaction. Thanks again you two.
My dad was a pastor this was the last movie I seen with him in theaters before he passed away we went a watched it 3 times but now that I'm in my 20s is kinda cool to watch this movie and understand what my dad was typing to teach me
Also just love the fact because he's blind he quite literally is walking by Fath not by sight
Some of the earlier scenes are great when you know the twist, like when he opens the door to the hanging man jump scare and doesn't react. I personally think he was given a level of sight by God when needed, when he grabs things directly and fights, but he earns it each night by reading and memorizing the Bible while blind. You'll notice he was a lot more clumsy when they were camping. I love that he essentially becomes an Apostle but that all religions are represented in the end.
Also when he was leaving the town the bullet bounced over his shoulder.
Not all religions. I am not sure where you got that from
@@samuelbishop3316 They had multiple religious texts in the "library". The Bible is one of the last ones they got.
@@samuelbishop3316 Well it's sitting in between the Qu'ran, the Tanakh, and the Torah. True those are Abrahamic but we can't see the whole shelf so one would assume they would collect Buddhist and Shinto writings too.
There's a sad little twist to that last bit, though. These librarians don't understand the Word in fullness; they put the book on a shelf among others and call their job done. The girl, however, does understand the Word--and goes forth to do His work, seeing the Gospel spread to any who will hear.
this movie is definitely one of those movies that you need to watch more than once, the shoot out he never shoots first its only in reaction to a shot or noise, great movie.
I just love the end the most. The reveal he was blind... and had memorised the entire Bible. As soon as he started speaking... chills.
"In the Beginning..."
They gave clues that he was blind all through the film, with the heightened senses in all the different focuses on the sounds that happened throughout the film a lot of the sounds from different things were amplified just slightly louder than they would normally be in a movie
When you watch it a 2nd time, you notice how he reacts with his blindness. So subtle the first time, then so obvious the 2nd time.
Um, he's not blind. Have you seen the movie? You do not have to be blind to know how to read brail, and is clearly not blind.
@@chadf86 i believe you
Never obvious since Denzel did not play his character as a blind man 99% of the time. Watch the movie for a 3rd time with this in mind.
An absolute classic of a film
I love the message this movie has about faith. It even outweighs a fairly significant plot hole the movie has. I'll put it below so anyone who doesn't want to know doesn't have to.
The actual Braille bible is about 60 inches thick and is usually printed in about 30 volumes. Smallest number of volumes I've seen is 16.
Yes, this is true. However, that doesn't make it a plot hole, if you assume divine intervention--which is not an unfounded assumption, given the plot.
I am not a religious person but this film was so underrated and deserved so much more attention.
The Mila Kunis thing is like seeing Robin Williams in a serious role. You have the urge to laugh even in serious parts. But Robin had the age and maturity to bring you past that. She was still so young at that point.
I’m lucky, I haven’t seen any mila kunis movies before book of Eli
I watched that movie on my religion classes. Yeah, our priest showed us a few movies (as on many religion classes in Poland). Unfortunately we haven't finished it at school, so I watched in my room after all lessons just to cry at the end. It was a brilliant movie: amazing pacing, great soundtrack and THAT plot twist! It's my favorite movie ever since that day!
my favourite part of this movies is when he goes to the old peoples' house and he's like "I didn't see the sign"
Hey guys! I’m glad you decided to react to this movie. If you go back to the scene where Gary shot Denzel, look up at the clouds. There was a flash of lightning that made a cross in the sky. Totally blew my mind!
Such a great movie and one that never gets old. He smelled the dudes because they had no soap which means no bathing, so their BO was atrocious and strong. He could hear the birds so well because the world is dead silent so any movement is loud af.
Denzel was personally trained by Filipino Escrima master and Bruce Lee student Dan Inosanto for this role
Kinda. He was trained for the movie by Jeff Imada....who was a student of Dan Inosanto.
Supremely underrated movie. Glad you guys watched this!
It’s one of those movies that when you get to the end the only option is to watch it again to see it all. There were clues, he sat away from the fire to read, he didn’t need the light. He lured the original stinky men into the dark because he knew it would put them at a disadvantage but not him. Stellar movie, glad you guys reviewed it and enjoyed it! Have a wonderful day!
"Oh Bitch" is Nikkis line XD
Dumbledore and Madam Maxime as a couple and Sirius Black as the Bad Guy. I love this Movie
And one of the Sirus's right hand men is the Punisher.
Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo/Volstagg from Thor) was also a nice surprise.
Love this Denzel rabbit hole y'all are going down with these reactions
One of the most underrated films of all time. It’s a work of art!
"George's wife" (the cannibals)was in Harry Potter but she wasn't the woman in Godrics Hollow, she was the really tall lady that led the school of Beuxbatons in Gobet of Fire.
Yuuuusss! Love this movie!! One of my favorites!! So glad you guys watched it!
I recommend Safe House with Denzel and Ryan Reynolds next, it's a great spy action flick
comedy
I love that movie for some odd reason
So glad you reacted to this. One of my favorite Denzel films. The ending of this film was very reminiscent of The Silent Flute (also known as Circle of Iron, 1975, David Carradine, Jeff Cooper and Christopher Lee. Eli Wallach doing his weird thing. Co-written by Bruce Lee, who unfortunately passed before production started.) Worth a watch for an old classic.
OG movie.
A truly great movie
if you haven't heard already, theres a TV show now in development on this movie and John Boyega will be young Eli before the movie takes place, glad they're doing this and will able to know the story and lore of the post-apocalyptic world Eli lives in
Great. The message of this movie is so unique and deep in our time and our world.
When you go back you can see that he only shoots at people who move or shoot at him first.
@Nikki and Steven for us who LOVE the Fallout video games this is as close as we ever got until they did Fallout the series to come out soon. Hughes Brothers did a great job of giving this a unique style. An like everyone including myself it never occurred to either of you while seeing him he was totally blind. I loved that twist and him getting a blank book as no one could real brail in the Apocalypse. Just a amazing cast as well as Gary Oldman is a legend from Dracula to Comish Gordon to his early work to Harry Potter films.
The old couples house in the middle of the wasteland was straight out of Fallout....
@@armynurseboy felt that way ;)
Denzel and Gary Oldman in a dystopian future? That's a must watch.
My personal belief is that he wasn't completely blind , just mostly blind. I think he saw the world similar to how you see him fighting the first group of bad guys. When the camera fades out, and you can still see everything, but then all the people are shadows. I personally believe that's how he sees the world.
If you want to compare Eli to a Biblical archetype, he would best be described as a "Judge", something of a mix between a prophet, a priest, and a king. This is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. It is absolutely fantastic.
Steven is definitely more mature than Iam at 52 years old. There is no way I could of resisted making a joke at the 10:32 timestamp. "Watch out he eats cats"
Same. I made the joke for him...
37:21 When she said he was "feverish": He's septic. Shotgun wound from earlier got infected & spread through the rest of his body. He died as well.
I love the fight scenes in this movie. None of the shaky cam jump-cut stuff. Also the score was composed by Atticus Ross (before he joined Nine Inch Nails officially)
On my first date with my now husband we saw this movie. We both loved it and I knew he was my kind of person ❤
One of my favorite movies of all time. I'm so glad you took the time to watch it. It's not big. It's not flashy. It's just **GOOD**.
One of my favorite Denzel movies. If you guys haven't seen it yet, you should watch Inside Man with Clive Owen. That's also one of my favorite movies of his.
What’s great about this movie is when you rewatch it, there are signs everywhere that he’s blind. He’s fighting movements the way he feels around things. It really is an awesome experience the second time around.
The movie “Out Of Time” is a fun movie to watch. You can totally tell that the whole cast was having a good time making the film, that it makes the viewer enjoy it so much more.
MORE DENZELLL!! MAN ON FIRE, FLIGHT, TRAINING DAY, MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
haven't seen flight of Magnificent Seven... jump into our discord and suggest them or vote them up - that's how we do our suggestions if you were curious
You should watch "The Road". It stars Viggo Mortenson. It also deals with a wasted, destroyed earth but never explains how it happened.
That said, it’s also a movie that utterly will rip your heart out. Then stomp on it over and over, and then try to shove it back into your chest.
The Road is so good at what it does, I’m not sure I could recommend it, especially since Nikki is so dang empathetic.
PS: It’s very likely the Earth got hit by a killer asteroid like the one which killed the dinosaurs.
Yeah, I'm not so sure Nikki could handle The Road. That's one movie I have only watched once, as it was just too hard to get thru. The acting and everything else was phenomenal, but It's just so heartbreaking. Much like Precious.
One of the best twists in a movie ever
One of those movies you keep extras of to give to people. Epic.
Deja Vu is another super underrated Denzel movie 👍🏽
Epic movie, and great reaction as usual! I’d humbly suggest 2004’s “Man on Fire”, a very different Denzel movie. You’ll love it.
They seeing
They've already seen it. If you've WATCHED the video, they mentioned the cinematography was similar to Man On Fire.
I am sure you have already seen this one but if not, Unstoppable is incredible and Denzel did some amazing stunts of his own in it! I absolutely LOVE this channel and look forward to every video yall drop. Much love from Texas!
The old cannibal couple were both in Harry Potter’Goblet of Fire’ as headmasters of their respective schools.
I like this Denzel marathon. All of his movies are bangers. My fav of all time is probably: “Roman J Israel, Esq”
No way!!! I'm excited for this!
One of my all time favorite movies. Denzel is amazing!
As someone who parted ways with Catholicism awhile back, a "warrior of God" is just a great story archetype 😂❤
“Didn’t you read the sign?”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t see it.”
“I heard a voice…” (because he couldn’t see the speaker)
I love this movie, can't tell you how many times I watched it. However one little fact always gets me. A complete bible in braille would be about 40 books and weigh about 90 pounds
Trying to grasp that concept he was blind the entire time is still hard watching it again
Hence God bejng the one giving him the ability.
Nikki was right. Denzel is always the same character with different names in different movies. Thats one of the things that made Training day so iconic, he finally steped out as a new character.
It’s such an amazing film , the story , the actors, the atmospheric filmmaking, the soundtrack! And the ending! 😮love this film ❤
One of my favorites! I did my first essay in film school on this (and Inception).
Between this and the Equalizer films,
nerds would call Denzel "Chaotic Good"
...
My personal favorite of his is "Fallen".
It's a supernatural crime thriller.
Highly recommended. :)
I vote for FALLEN too!
Same. One of my favorite Denzel movies!
I was waiting for y’all to do this one !!!
I love your reactions! I've been binging them for a week now. Keep up the good work. Much Love!
You guys should check out Fallen! Denzel plays a detective fighting an uncatchable serial killer. Great movie!
I second that!
How ironic that Steven started off this reaction by saying, "I love going into these movies completely blind..."
The craziest thing about this movie is that when you rewatch it, the ending reveal becomes super obvious. You realize he stares directly into the sun at moments, he rarely looks anyone in the face or eyes, etc. Awesome twist, great movie.
You two have to review Man on Fire. Some of his best work.
I love watching you guys so much!! It really helps my depression. Thank you for being you!!!
If there was ever a film that i feel deserved some expanding it would be this. Eli's story is finished but id love some Graphic Novel or something leading up to the War or Eli finding the book. The visual art is fantastic, everything from the bleak gray world to the the town set, the ambient theme is amazing and would fit easily into any end of the world film/show/game and I love the subtle world building that gives you just enough to have an idea of what happened but still have you wanting to know more. Im a sucker for the Post Apocalyptic genre. (The Book of Eli honestly reminds me alot of Fallout 3 visually, the Grayed out world and rubble landscape especially)
Great character study. Denzel is always excellent.
Salara (Mila Kunz) cannot read and Eli (Denzel) is blind. That is why they did not see the "No Trespassing" sign at the old couple's house.
The movie was called The Book of Eli because Eli was chosen by God to preserve his word. Eli wasn't bulletproof - the bullets missed him. It's why when he got shot the antagonist said "See? Just a man." But he was wrong. Eli wasn't just a man. He was a man who had God with him. It also explains why Eli was such a formidable foe and why he could do things that no mere blind man could do. The movie is literally The Book of Eli, i.e. the story of Eli's journey to preserve the word of God.
The Book of Eli blew me away. I thought about it for a week.
You have to react to his film Dejavu
Well, I 'll be damned! Seen this movie twice and didn't pick up on him being blind. Love your reactions. Watched you two do GOT and Dexter and several movies. Still enjoy you doing The Last Kingdom. Thank you.
Because he isn't
@chadf86 it's really clear that he is blind
@@chadf86 Dude... really. He was blind, that was half the twist in the film, the other miracle being (and in my opinion the greater of the two) his memorizing the entire Bible word for word.
