Yes, absolutely insane! Btw for anybody reading, if you’re a fan of The Simpsons & retro games, you absolutely MUST see the wild music videos on this channel 👆👆 you will NOT regret it.
I can't believe i'm still learning new stuff about this game this many years later... i didn't knew about numbers 5, 2 and 1 at all Congrats man, keep up the good work
It's probably a lot easier to just beat the level normally than it is to find that warp in Millstone Mayhem. Almost defeats the purpose of a warp barrel.
Another great and interesting list to kick off the new year with. Finding out about these shortcuts was certainly mind-blowing for me too. I knew about the ones in the mine cart level and Snow Barrel Blast, but everything else was a shock. Especially the ones where you have to be Donkey Kong to reach them. It all definitely makes me curious about what kinds of warps might exist in DKC2 and 3 as well. Super fun video to watch, and the little animation with the title card using those sound effects was awesome!
Have been more than 20 years and I still remember how I discover, by accident, the one on Snow Barrel Blast! I just press the button on wrong timing and I was pretty sure I'll die lol
For 20 years+ I thought I maybe made the one up about the mine cart level one. I found out about it by accident but then afterwards in my mind the barrel was in the middle or on the right of the gap. Great video!
It's possible some of these warps are left over from testing when the levels weren't finished. Some of the levels have complex mechanics that took a fair bit of work.
knew about 2/3rd of them....when you are a kid, you didn't get games often and have to play the hell out of your games, so I would just check every nook and cranny looking for secrets.
If you press start + select near the end of the Mine Cart Carnage, you can exit the stage earlier by like one second 😂 And if you do this in a 2 player contest mode, you'll be able to play again. The other player will miss a turn.
I knew all of them EXCEPT the one in Tree Top Town! I never knew that existed and I would do cranky runs for this game and never noticed it. Man 2025 is on to a good start!
I found the warp at Milstone Mayhem once by accident and never knew how I did it or the exact location of the barrel. I tried several times to find it again but I never could. Thanks to you I'm glad to know I didn't dream it. :')
@@MarMaxGaming that's not what happened... I remember stepping on a Krusha with Donkey Kong but instead I got hit. Usually when that happens the other ape (Diddy) comes in jumping to take place, and I accidentaly pressed the jump button in the right moment so Diddy made a higher jump than usual and got into the warp barrel. I tried to recreate that situation again, but never could.
Had this game since it came out in 94 as a kid. Knew about half of em. Crazy lol. I will say the con is you are skipping bonus levels. I remember the one on snow barrel blast I did by accident after dying 80 million times lol.
Great Video! I think you underestimate the seemingly pointless things kids in the 80s and 90s would do in an attempt to entertain ourselves though. I remember spending so much time in this game as a kid just doing dumb pointless stuff because I had already beaten the game God knows how many times. Most of us only had a handful of games we owned and whatever we might rent from blockbuster on the weekend so we made the most of what we had, even with the bad games. Today it almost seems like games are more accessible and plentiful, especially to younger kids, most of the time back then I remember only ever having a few games with every new console I had and if I was lucky maybe get a new one for christmas. Basically what I'm saying is this resulted in doing stupid stuff like pushing tires backwards across the level for entertainment lol.
You’re totally right, a lot of people play games to finish them but then there’s the realm of kids that truly explored these 2D levels to their maximum capacity and that is honestly a very special thing… I appreciate you watching and commenting!
I think at the time most of the "plain sight" shortcuts would have been obscured because we would have originally played on a crt and would have been hidden off the edge of the screen due to overscan
There's a huge skip in Kongo Jungle, at least on the PAL version. If you spam A while moving between either the second level and Cranky's Cabin, or Cranky's Cabin and the third level (it's been years) when you hit one of the corners it'll teleport you to the start of Vine Valley (I think. Maybe it was Kremkroc Industries)
I knew the first 5. I found the one in Vulture Culture when i was doing a speedrun (not professional, just for fun) and usually i prefer Diddy, because he feels faster, but in this run, i lost Diddy at the last boss, so i had to make do with Donkey and usually i don't switch, when i don't absolutely have to, so... yeah. but the other 4... i had no idea they existed. I'll probably skip the one in Millstone Mayhem... while cool.. it seems rather slow
Is it not possible to reach the last barrel with jumping onto one of the Krushas? I mean, they are right nearby and you just have to suppress the urge to blast them with the TNT barrels.
@@ThatguycalledJoe that’s an interesting angle… I mostly just ranked them based on how well hidden, unusual, and obscure they are! When a warp brings you like 90% through a level, it’s bound to skip some bonus rooms haha
The only ones I knew about were #9 and #8 and #6. I think #6 should be #9. In any case it should definitely be before #7 which I never knew about. #6 is almost guaranteed to be found just by error.
The millstone mayhem shortcut is way different than I remember. I think it's because I've never seen that shortcut before, and I've played DKC a lot in my life! I looked up a shortcut in that one... that ain't it.
@@channel-8777 the fascinating part about that is there are some duplicate letters out there, you are not required to get any of these shortcuts or warps to collect any of the KONGs. We actually just did a Top 10 KONGs last time!
How about one you didn't even mention? In world 1, on the map screen, in between the levels the little dotted line path that leads from one to another have bends in them. At any of these bends (between the 1st and 2nd levels, the 2nd and 3rd, or the 4th and 5th, mash A and B at exactly the moment your know reaches the bend. Suddenly you'll find yourself warped to the middle of the level Orangutan Gang, near the end of world 3. Interestingly, after performing this warp you won't be able to return to worlds 1 and 2 because you never actually unlocked them on the island map. Apparently this was a programmer short cut that was accidentally left in. Unfortunately, I just learned the trick only works in the 1.0 and 1.1 versions of the snes game. It was removed after that in later versions.
@@cravdraa this one is quite a bit different! I’ve seen that bizarre exploit, mashing on the connecting path until it brings you to Orang-utan Gang… it feels like it’s own little weird trick instead of an actual warp barrel or shortcut in a level type of deal. Thanks for watching and commenting about this unique trick too!
Figure out as a kid, #9, #8 by thinking let's try left why not lol; #7 by accident, #6 think did as a kid and forgot about it somehow, #5 only seen on video but then maybe I did stumble once on it never sure how to repeat it again could have happened, #4 yes did it as a kid but over time somehow got lost in the mind as got older with more serious matters in life, #3 sounds like it is new to me, if ever knew it the memory could not hold onto like it the first 3 kept, #2 one day felt like let's see what happens if I jump on the vulture got it by accident lol then life took the memory away lol and lastly #1 must have been very young then one felt like what if I bring it left that tire and then as got older was not something would have had a need to keep in my mind anymore. Thus has to be 6 or 7 100% sure would have found as a kid in those 90's...but 5th bonus in the stage with 5 and bonus inside a bonus needed that book as an adult to find sadly.
I also would like to mention 1 more shortcut you missed. Even though, it's accessible via bonus room. In Ropey Rampage, accessing the 1st bonus room, will cause a huge level skip upon exiting the bonus room. Quite a big shortcut there.
@@DrcMgcnPuzzle appreciate you watching! To be clear, I didn’t “miss” any shortcuts; we already looked at and counted down Bonus Rooms in a previous video… Ropey Rampage shoots the player at a kremling and you bounce over a little section, which is massively different than the ones we were talking about in this list.

Couldn’t they just manually position the kongs?
That last one was so stupidly unintuitive that I would have never bothered to try it. I thank you for sharing the secret.
