How to install stop valve on pvc pipes as shown in the video will make the process of replacement or repair later easy and flexible! How do you see the idea of installing the valve on this pvc pipes ? Please leave your thoughts in this comment section! Thanks for watching !
Thank you for letting me know what you think about this! really great , I totally agree with what you said ! However, if it is installed like that, although it costs more to install, it will be effective in the future for the process of repairing and replacing the valve when it is broken? Here in the US, if I was concerned about easy valve replacement, I would just use a Sharkbite valve. Otherwise, if replacement was necessary, I would just cut out a section of pipe and use cemented PVC couplers to connect a short stub on either side.
That is the way I assembled my 160' deep well pipe, sans valve, but with couplers between each 20' section of pipe. Continuous poly is usually used but pulling the pump was a lot easier with the couplers when you don't have a crane and winch. Your technique (with one coupler as noted below) is a useful approach to replacing or adding a valve.

I'm Electronic and Electri Service Engineer . But ❓ I Like The Plumbing Work. Some Time I Fittings Water Pumps Plumber Works. Today I Got New Ideas. Once Again Thank You For Sharing..
You only need one disconnect coupling, this is because once the coupling is un-threaded, the valve can simple turn to spin off the male connection on the other side.
what do you mean it would spin?.. both union when facing each other goes in clockwise and the other side is counterclockwise.. to make it spin with water pressure you need that two union facing in both clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
I've been brainstorming how to install a 1 inch ball valve into a gravity fed pvc line from my spring fed water tank where it enters the house upstream from my water filter. No flex in the pipe so your suggestion is perfect! Plus, the valve is serviceable in the future without cutting remaining pvc again and again. Thanks!
Thank you for watching the video and leave me a comment! Glad you shared the same opinion! Wishing you and your family all the best and happiness! Looking forward to seeing your opinion in other videos on the channel! Thanks and good luck!
Use a single pvc push to fit (shark bite type or twist to lock) coupling on one side, glue the other threaded fitting direct. (only need one union or push fitting).
I have had on my mind to install a shut off valve in the 3/4" PVC water line coming into my house for sometime now. This video is exactly what I needed to see to get my valve installed. Will get the parts today. Thank you very much for this video.

It gets tight to fast by hand, and it seems 2 be cross threaded . A diy could cross thread it. And if u have a rubber gasket in you don't have to tape it, maybe one revolution.
That's doing it the hard way. Also unless the pvc is schedule 80, the pipe is for electrical work and not code approved for plumbing. Maybe things have changed since I retired after 45 years as a plumbing contractor.
why have 2 unions when you only need 1? better yet: 1) use a sharkbite shut off (the 2 unions will more than pay for it). or with the shutoff (threaded) shown 2) use a single sharkbite straight connect. 3) sharkbite Quick Connect Push to Connect/John Guest Speedfit Union fitting (these are made out of pex). If its its outdoor or irrigation, use an orbit PVC-Lock fitting (push on). All of these will be cheaper and easier than 2 unions and all will allow shut off to be removed if it fails.
2 things u forgot . when u cut the pipe u have to deburr it. And second thing u have to clean it with a PVC Cleaner before u get the glue on. These are two very important things.
When I apply PVC glue on both surfaces, I just pushed it in. I avoid twisting it because as the glue dries, any twisting action will create unevenness and air spaces which will cause leaks.
The usual problem here is when the teflon you put on both ends of the valve turned out to be insufficient. You turn on the water, and the teflon starts leaking. But you glued both ends already, so you have to repeat the process all over again and buy another set of fittings.
Thank you for leaving a comment! I agree with your thoughts! but in my opinion, using 2 joints will be easier to manipulate! How do you think about this?
It's exactly for no Plumber, it's not the correct way to install a valve, no body use two unions, more parts than can have a damage and not good because they have seal and thread and have more risk of f future leaks, looks nice and elaborate but not really professional 😊
great idea. I'm planing to install a temporary water line source and want to redesign it after finishing some renovation and this idea really help although its costly but its really efficient rather than cutting and buying new pipe and fittings and this video really fits for low pressure water lines
1. Only PVC valve (both end female socket type) will be just sufficient to replace. 2. At last you installed the valve diametrically opposite to that you saw in starting of video for correct direction of its lever. 3. Anyway, it is a nice video. 🎉

With a PVC shut valve..could save two couplers.
You know, there are pvc union valve thing, it combine those valve and union in a single thing..

Well, sharkbite doesn't fit pvc, it fits cpvc, copper and pex.

Change a brass ball valve? 50 years from now. Plus not pvc, it poly
ball valves DO GO BAD. Got one on my irrigation system now. This would make it easier to fix. Thanks
And that would be once in a blue moon though 😂
You only need one disconnect coupling, this is because once the coupling is un-threaded, the valve can simple turn to spin off the male connection on the other side.

what do you mean it would spin?.. both union when facing each other goes in clockwise and the other side is counterclockwise.. to make it spin with water pressure you need that two union facing in both clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
Avoid maximum joints, then only required one union!
Only one 🤔 isnt it better with two? Also arent those unions?
Thank you for showing this and very idea 💡 you r the best
Thanks you !

Once broken, I just cut another one next to it. Same result but uglier. 😅

Now u have 2 find where they sell it and name of it. Also 2 much thread tape can easily cross thread it when screwing on.
To much tape can cause it to split would only cross thread if you make it do so
Absolutely agree.
It gets tight to fast by hand, and it seems 2 be cross threaded . A diy could cross thread it. And if u have a rubber gasket in you don't have to tape it, maybe one revolution.

Why use a brass valve with plastic pipe?
Mistaken installation of union union must gap around 10 cm. From the valve if pipe have more distance.
thanks!
Yes give a space so that easy to reinstalled .
The idea is not from a good plumber. Leaks can come from several points aside from being expensive.
Agreed - the extra fittings are a pointless over- complication. Why use a metal tap too?
Excellent method onday a client asked the same question. How to connect ball valve?

The purpose of using union in this TUT in next changing of stop valve you won't cut a piece of pipe. Nice idea.
