    Let's be charitable and just assume this video is coming to us from the far reaches of rural Yemen, where modern plumbing is something few people have ever seen, and water flowing from a tap is considered a miracle.

      Haha, let’s give the benefit of the doubt! 😄 Maybe this video is showing us a "vintage" approach to plumbing from somewhere with limited resources. It's like a time travel DIY, right? Sometimes these creative solutions make you appreciate the simple things, like water from a tap! Have you ever seen other unconventional DIY solutions like this?

      Drehst du wenn du den Wasserleitungshahn reparieren willst, das Wasser-
      Hauptabsperrventil zu ??

    Yes sink blockages can be a nightmare for us plumbers, but if there is room to install the home made mechansim shown then that's OK, but in my experience there's simply no room for such installations (or the space under sink is filled up with all kinds of stuff). I don't like using fixed glued fittings in such situations. Why not just use an ordinary easily removable sink trap and place a notice above the sink reading the usual "DO NOT PUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN WATER DOWN PLUGHOLE!" It never works of course, as people are people! However, at least one can easily remove parts to clear the blockage. That's my take anyway.

    • @HolicCreation
      @HolicCreation  4 місяці тому

      You bring up a valid point! Space under sinks is often tight, and a traditional sink trap can definitely make clearing blockages easier. The homemade mechanism shown in the video offers a creative solution, but as you noted, practical space limitations might make it tricky to install in some homes. Removable traps with simple signage might indeed save time and effort in many cases. What do you think about integrating some of these innovative ideas with more conventional plumbing practices?

    • @HolicCreation
      @HolicCreation  4 місяці тому

      Ah, the classic P-trap solution! 🛠️ It’s a straightforward and reliable way to handle drainage. Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best. Maybe the creative approach is just a fun experiment, but sticking with a P-trap sounds like a solid plan. Do you have any other go-to fixes for plumbing issues?

      @raptranslator2023, If you live in the US, this is NOT according to the plumbing code! There are so many violations it is impossible to start. This is dangerous and nasty.
      When you have a clog (and you certainly will), you will have a leaking mess that creates a smell under your sink that you will never forget! I would rather deal with raw sewage any day than fermented food!
      If you call a plumber to unclog it, he won't touch it unless you let him fix this absolutely crazy nonsense!

    Okay, I don't know where this was made, but so far as I know, this setup is not only dangerous, it's illegal in the United States. These 90⁰ fittings are the wrong type, and by themselves will eventually cause a clogging problem. The line is not vented which is not code. That's illegal. The line drains into an open sewer which means methane gas and all sorts of critters can get into the house. Sewer gas can kill. It's toxic and it can explode. Get a licensed plumber.

    • @HolicCreation
      @HolicCreation  4 місяці тому +1

      You raise some critical points! 🚨 Safety and code compliance are no joke, especially when it comes to plumbing. Using the wrong fittings and improper venting can lead to serious issues, including dangerous sewer gases. It’s always best to consult a licensed plumber for these kinds of jobs. Thanks for sharing that important reminder! What are some other DIY projects you think should come with a safety warning?

    Who in the heck has under sink plumbing like this? can't be in anything in the US built in the last 75 years.

    • @HolicCreation
      @HolicCreation  Місяць тому

      It's quite possible that some plumbing setups can look rather unconventional, especially if they've been modified over the years or if they're custom installations. The plumbing standards and practices can vary widely, and sometimes older buildings or DIY projects result in some unique configurations.
      In the United States, modern plumbing standards have indeed evolved significantly, so finding an unusual setup like the one you're describing in a building from the last 75 years would be rare. However, it's not impossible, especially in older homes that have undergone multiple renovations.
      If you're dealing with an unusual plumbing situation and need some advice on how to approach it, feel free to share more details! 🔧
      Hope your plumbing adventures go smoothly!

  • @AhJodie
    @AhJodie 3 місяці тому +1

    I don't understand the idea of it, but it was sort of interesting to watch. Liquid oil, like in here, isn't really a problem, it is the stuff that turns solid easily, like butter and animal fat. When I have had a problem, I just untwist the pipes I have, (rather than glued pipes) and get the clog out. Another thing I do is use a wet/dry vac.

    • @HolicCreation
      @HolicCreation  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for sharing your approach! You’re right-solid fats and oils can be tricky to manage and often cause blockages faster than liquid oils. It’s smart to have an accessible setup if you’re able to twist off the pipes and clean them yourself. And a wet/dry vac is a great tool for unclogging! Have you found it effective even for tougher clogs?

    • @HolicCreation
      @HolicCreation  4 місяці тому

      Using a siphon like the GEBERIT or LIRA with two outlets is indeed a smart suggestion. It would reduce the need for cutting and joining multiple pieces, which, when combined with glue and additional parts, can significantly increase the cost. This approach offers both a simpler and more cost-effective solution. However, the method shown may still be useful for people who want to use materials they already have on hand. Have you used these siphons in similar projects?

      While I understand your point, the materials used in DIY projects can often be gathered over time or bought affordably. The goal is to offer an alternative to expensive plumbing services. While it's true that not every home may have these items on hand, this approach gives people a way to tackle projects themselves, potentially saving money in the long run. Do you think hiring a professional is more reliable for your specific needs?

    when was that yesterday perhaps, the stink coming up those pipes aint so good either. Thats why the auld plumbers had traps to prevent the stench coming back up the pipes. Depending on the psi you had to fit two inch pipes for a kitchen sink and a 1 in 12 fall. but that was when you had to comply to regulations and quality counted now its just take a garden for get a bunch of plastic rubbish and fork it in to the kitchen. It looks crap and generally if it looks crap it is crap.
